Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

When God’s hand weighs heavy upon you s30e97 Ps32
The path of an ongoing relationship to a God MUST be marked with conviction, correction, repentance and forgiveness.
Otherwise we cannot be in relationship with a holy God.
He warns us about this: don't be MULE HEADED in resistance.

When God’s hand weighs heavy upon you s30e97 Ps32
We’ll get there but let’s start w a warning:don’t be mule-headed
Warning: Don’t pile the sorrows of the wicked upon your own head
Trust in the Lord and receive His steadfast love, enjoy His steadfast love
Let The Lord be my HIDING PLACE, a place of preservation from trouble
SEEK HIM when HE MAY BE FOUND
Receive the instruction of the Lord, for His eye is upon you.
Here is the conclusions of Ps 32:
6 Therefore let everyone who is godly
offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;
surely in the rush of great waters,
they shall not reach him.
7 You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
which must be curbed with bit and bridle,
or it will not stay near you.
10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
It is possible to find God in this moment—don’t be wicked, mule-headed
It is not possible to find God in every moment
Heb 9: 27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
There are finite days to find God. Don’t’ tarry.
I’m gonna quit smoking tomorrow. Let today be the day to find Him
For the days to find Him are limited. Scripture teaches they are over at death
So Let His counsel and instruction and teaching and eye be upon us.
Where did this yielding come from? How’d we get here: David felt “the presence of God”What did it feel like? When God’s hand was heavy upon me.
God’s presence sometimes feels like a heavy hand, directing and convicting us towards repentance. Then there is groaning, wasting away, UNPLEASANTNESS
The HEAVY hand of God is the greatest of graces available.
It is an HONOR to feel the heavy hand of God. His leaning in with His corrective conviction.
Remember repentance is David’s specialty: His superpower.
He’s got a phD in FORGIVENESS. How do you get that?
You super-feel the heavy hand and respond to it.
IMHO this is the most important skill to learn for a successful life? Reading.
This is why David is described as a man after God’s own heart.
The path of an ongoing relationship to a holy God MUST be marked with conviction, correction, repentance and forgiveness.
Otherwise we cannot be in relationship with a holy God
What happens if we walk the path of restoration?
1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,
Ps32 is a primer on how to be forgiven:
5 I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
I acknowledge my sin—that sin is sin in the first place
I acknowledge my sin—That sin is primarily done against God, 2 people
I asknowledge My sin—that my primary target of forgiveness is You God
I askn. My sin. I uncover it.
I aknow. My sin. I confess
The wonderful forgiveness of the Lord accessed by the heavy hand of conviction
Is there anything you’d have me be convicted about?
Anything that I see that I shouldn’t. Put your heavy hand upon me in correction.
Is there anything that I SAY that I shouldn’t?
Put your heavy hand upon me in correction.
Is there anything that I DO that I should not be doing?
Put your heavy hand upon me in correction.
Is there any action that I don’t do that I should be doing?
Put your heavy hand upon me in correction.
do not cover sin it but UNCOVER it Acknowledge, speak it, confess it, call it the truth that it is: call it a sin, an iniquity a transgression.
Agree with God as to HIS definition of sin, stop arguing with God to agree with YOUR definition of sin.
Ps 32 says it offensively: don’t be a mule.
Don’t be spiritually stubborn. HOW?
Feel the direction of His heavy hand of conviction and schooch in that direction.
Therefore let everyone who is godly
offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;
This is that time. When should I pray and listen and yield? How bout now.
Before the rush of great waters. Before the hour when you may NOT be found.
When God’s hand weighs heavy upon you, believe it, act on it. Grateful for it.
