Lead me to the Rock s30e116 Ps61

Lead Me to the Rock

61 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David.

1    Hear my cry, O God,

listen to my prayer;

2    from the end of the earth I call to you

when my heart is faint.

       Lead me to the rock

that is higher than I,

3    for you have been my refuge,

a strong tower against the enemy.

4    Let me dwell in your tent forever!

Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah

5    For you, O God, have heard my vows;

you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

6    Prolong the life of the king;

may his years endure to all generations!

7    May he be enthroned forever before God;

appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him!

8    So will I ever sing praises to your name,

as I perform my vows day after day.

Psalm titled: LEAD ME TO THE ROCK. When?

When I cry out from the ends of the earth LEAD ME TO THE ROCK

When I wail because my spirit doesn’t have much juice left.

When I am at the extremity of my soul LEAD ME TO THE ROCK

When The spiritual gas tank is on empty LEAD ME TO THE ROCK

When I find myself in circumstances that I do not prefer, I wail to you

From there, this is what I say Lead me to THE ROCK

Psalm 18: 2          The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,

You are solid. You are unmoved. You are the strength that rebels dash themselves upon.  The NT carries this thought: Luke 20 quoting ps 118

       “ ‘The stone that the builders rejected

has become the cornerstone’?

18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”

2 choices: find and fall upon the Stone and be broken to pieces or have it fall on me and be crushed by His might. I suggest the former

No, I voluntarily seek and secure myself to you in all that it entails. I am broken to pieces before You, humbled, silenced, bow in awed

How can a human be anything else but bowed and broken before You?

You are my strong tower. You are my refuge.

I take refuge under the shelter of your wings. Ps 17: 8  Keep me as the apple of your eye;

hide me in the shadow of your wings,

     Apple of Your Eye, Under Your wings

     Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I

When I am at the Rock what do I find? -- YOU

     The strong tower against all enemies

     Refuge under the shelter of your Wings

     PEOPLE: you have given me the HERITAGE of those who fear your name. It is like the hall of fame of faith

     We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses—code for those who have gone before us Lead me to the Rock

     We are surrounded by the family of God. The saints alive Lead me to the Rock
