Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

Peace thru Strength s30e124 Ps29

Michael Smith Season 30 Episode 124

One of my favorite things is to watch a thunderstorm roll in and then jump into the safety of a strong building.  One of my least favorite things is to endure a thunderstorm while in a tent.

Ps 29 is all about the Thunderstorm Power of God. Ironically, it is from this earth-shaking power that our PEACE with God comes from.  It is only because the Lord kindly shares His POWER with us, that we can enjoy PEACE with Him.

Join me for 7 minutes in the storm, then comment.

Peace thru Strength s30e124 Ps29

Today we move from the shadow of His wings, ps63 right into a thunderstorm of His power and majesty and glory.

one of my favorite things to do, is to watched a thunderstorm roll in and then dash into a nice strong building. This is situational

one of my least favorite things to do,been in a tent during a thunderstorm, with the ground shaking and thunder and lightening all around

My peace with God is based on the power of a thunderstorm. But first, the STORM. 11 verses

What we first see here is enthusiastic worship: ascribe to the Lord:

1  Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,

ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2    Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

            Speak the truth; tell it like it is

            Acknowledge glory and strength and other characteristics that are admirable and worthy of mention: TO ASCRIBE

            Ascribe is an invitation: come do this! Give this to the Lord. Then

3-9 Voice of The Lord as pictured in a thunderstorm traversing first the mediteranian sea and then the Land of Israel from the north Sirion to the south Kadesh.

Join David in Ps29 as He describes the raw exposed power of God

Experience the Power, the glory and the majesty of the thunderstorm out over the waters3   The voice of the Lord is over the waters;

the God of glory thunders,

the Lord, over many waters.

4    The voice of the Lord is powerful;

the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

Similarly: Rom 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

This is not the gentle image of God “in the shadow of your wings I sing for Joy” Ps 63:7—we shelter under the wings of God because of His power, and protection, and personal attention.

            It is the same God, who is also strong, powerful, as a storm.

The storm then heads over land     5           The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;

the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.

6    He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,

and Sirion (NORTH) like a young wild ox.

7    The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.

8    The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;

the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. (SOUTH)

The voice of the Lord breaks the biggest trees

The voice of the Lord shakes Lebanon and Israel from north to south

 of Is like jumping calves; like the shaking of the wilderness

All trembles before Him: possibly that deer sucumming to premature birth:    9           The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth

and strips the forests bare,

and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

We have the strongest God

10    The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;

the Lord sits enthroned as king forever.

11    May the Lord give strength to his people!

May the Lord bless his people with peace!

He is stronger than thunder, than lightening. He is sovereign in power over this world.

What source is the power, the gifts, that He gives to mankind.

He can give power only because He is first powerful.

Ps68:35        Awesome is God from his sanctuary;

the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people.

Phil 4: 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

How do we get the Lord’s peace? Only thru His power.

We have, like the saying goes, peace thru strength.

The only reason we have PEACE with God is because of the POWER of God and His favor in affording us the benefits of it.

In conclusion: God is as powerful as a thunderstorm. So I am humbled by His thundering majesty.

How does this affect me? This is the Peace source. My peace with God is based on the power of a thunderstorm.

May the Lord bless His people with peace. What Lord? The thunder Lord

It is only because the Lord is this powerful that we can have peace. W Him and from Him.
