Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

May you have the JOY OF HIS PRESENCE s30e128 Psalm 21

Michael Smith Season 30 Episode 128

Happy New year.  I have a new year's prayer for you: I wish you the joy of His presence.

In Psalm 21, David is pretty excited that the Lord shows up for the faithful national leader.

He also warns what happens to those who "make mischief" against Him. Let's just say it isn't pretty.  It is like getting shot in the face with an arrow. All the punishment and wrath is so unnecessary.

As the year starts, I recommend the joy of His presence.  Start the year right with a watch now, and another tomorrow.

May you have the JOY OF HIS PRESENCE s30e128 Psalm 21

Psalm about the GOOD GUYS, then it is a psalm about the BAD GUYS

Start in the middle. Not recommended: What it is like to be an enemy of God? Should I be an enemy of God by performing mischief against Him?

8    Your hand will find out all your enemies;

your right hand will find out those who hate you.

9    You will make them as a blazing oven

when you appear.

       The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,

and fire will consume them.

10    You will destroy their descendants from the earth,

and their offspring from among the children of man.

11    Though they plan evil against you,

though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.

12    For you will put them to flight;

you will aim at their faces with your bows.

Not recommended. Not enjoyed. Not necessary

            Lord’s enemies will be found out

            They’ll be made as a blazing oven when He appears

            They’ll be swallowed up in wrath; consumed with fire

            Their descendants will be destroyed

            Their mischief will not succeed

            They’ll be put to flight

            You, Lord, will “aim at their faces with your bows”

This is not necessary.  Stop being against God. Stop the mischief. God is not mocked. Be swallowed by LIFE or be swallowed in wrath.

When you put it like that, it does not seem much like a hard choice.

Or, the KING, and we by extension can bend our desires away from opposition and mischief

Make no mistake, this is were hard spiritual work is done to:

     Rejoice in the right thing: the strength of the Lord

     Exult in the most critical spiritual reality: the salvation of the Lord

     Have your lips Request the right the right things

Benefits of being met with rich blessings

     Crowns of gold, length of days, glory while here

     Give him splendor and majesty

MAde  GLAD WITH THE JOY OF YOUR PRESENCE

The King Rejoices in the Lord’s Strength

21 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

1    O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,

and in your salvation how greatly he exults!

2    You have given him his heart’s desire

and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah

3    For you meet him with rich blessings;

you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.

4    He asked life of you; you gave it to him,

length of days forever and ever.

5    His glory is great through your salvation;

splendor and majesty you bestow on him.

6    For you make him most blessed forever;

you make him glad with the joy of your presence.

7    For the king trusts in the Lord,

and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.

13    Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!

We will sing and praise your power.

Do you trust in the Lord; rejoice in His strength, exult in salvation

Are you glad with the joy of His presence?

If God gave you the desire of your heart, what would it be?

Conclusions from Psalm 21

Remember to pray for your King, president, queen prime minister

You want a leader that enjoys the blessing of the Lord

God save the King

     Those who stand opposed, make mischief are swallowed in wrath, consumed, destroyed and put to flight.

Those that rejoice in the strength

Exult in His salvation

Trust in the Lord

And are glad with the JOY OF HIS PRESENCE

You want this for the king, and your pastor, and your spouse, and for those that take care of 2 year olds, and for those that shovel snow , and for your next generations, from your loins or from your college group

My prayer for you, YouTube watcher is this: that you might be glad with the joy of His presence. That He’d grant mercy and grace and favor of His leaning in, bending down, thinking of you

And that you would see it, feel it, know it and then be glad about it: be glad with the JOY OF HIS PRESENCE

 I give you Him. I give you His presence, which is not unrelated to receivingHim. Receive Him. Attach yourself to Him. Hook your carabiner to Him.

Then: I give you joy. Let’s be happy about it. All kinds of blessings, gold, gives us our desires, for they are of him

May you have the JOY OF HIS PRESENCE
