Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
What if today is all you have? s30e141 Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Ps 118:24
Here's the truth about those days: Eventually, either the days are gone, or we are gone from the days.
Who is sovereign over my days? Why did that guy have to die "so soon"? Who is in charge over the number of the days? What if I am grumpy about the whole topic?
If so, these 6 ½ minutes of this particular day, will be of good use to you.

What if today is all you have? s30e141 Psalm 118:24
Hit parade of quotability
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me? *****Man can do plenty. But we are infinite, eternal, untouchable unsnatchable value.
14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
22 The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
Coming to Jesus is no picnic. He’ll require some cleaning out, some yielding, some obeying, and some flat out breaking of your Spirit. Enter with Him into His holy quarry, where the output is you. The product is you. The slab of granite is beautiful and polished and useful. Yes this is the Lord who breaks you, but breaks you for a purpose:
OR you can enter int to the rock grinder of Jesus towards destruction, crushed.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Brings up the question: Who makes days? Who makes time?
What is my response to time limitation?
I can think of no other topic that more clearly lays out our struggle with the sovereignty of God than that of time. Time existence.
That time exists and I exist in time: It is manifested by:
Why did that guy have to die?
Why did that guy have to die now? Isnt this a little early?
We are created into time. And we are one day ripped from time into eternity. That that amount of time is often viewed as “too soon” and sometimes, “not soon enough” here.
It is an ultimate struggle that the LORD MAKES TIME, (and I do not)
It tests me that the Lord makes DAYS(and I do not)
Tempted, rather than rejoicing IN IT, I rebel FROM IT.
Rather than being glad, I can be grumpy that I didn’t get put in charge of
GLad : be joyful, be merry, to gloat ATTITUDE
Rejoice means to say something about it. Shout in exultation; rejoice. ANNOUNCEMENT. If glad is the attitude, rejoicing is the announc
Call: Act as if today is all you have, because today may be all you have
Trust that He is the keeper of days
Ps 90: 10 The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
12 So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
The days and years are marked with difficulty
The days are soon gone and time is rolled up,
or we are gone from these days; or we are removed from time
Either the days are gone, or we are gone from the days
There is wisdom in treating the days carefully Ps118: 24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Be wise, that the number of the days is limited
The end of days comes for every man and occasionally for every child
There is something to learn. Teach us to number these days
Make us have an endpoint of wisdom
If I get a morning, please give me your faithful love, HESED
Both ps90 and 118 call for that we may REJOICE and BE GLAD all our days
Have the right attitude: joy. Have the right announcement of that joy
Conclusions
I don’t know how many days I have,
I don’t have a choice as to the number of our my days
I do have a choice as to the gladness and rejoicing that those days are filledwith
Save just one. Serve just one. See just one. Be Sweet to just one.
Can I , be seen by the Lord. Trust His sovereignty. Be sovereigned by the Lord. Let Him be boss over day. Meantime I work on my attitude
GLad : be joyful, be merry, to gloat ATTITUDE
Rejoice means to say something about it. Shout in exultation; rejoice. ANNOUNCEMENT
Proclaim it to your brain, your soul,
The Lord sees me, has created me. Knows me. Knows my days.
If we say, the Lord is sovereign over time and days.
Somebody knows the number of my days, it just isn’t me. He’s got this.
I can give this into His possession What a relief!
Does your face know this? What is my face and my mouth announcing.
Do those who see your face know that you know this? Do you act like:
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
