Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

What does the DOLLAR say about you? s30e143 Ps56b
I mean that literally, the US one dollar bill says something RADICAL about you. I mean that it actually declares something audacious about you. Let’s find out what it is.
Psalm 56 is a declaration of intent during an incident
This is an actual, real, on the ground, in real time crisis
Why should I listen to Ps56?
Because you too are having a real incident or youre gonna have one tomorrow.
Are you ready?
Are you ready for a day without rainbows?
Maybe this video finds you in the hospital, or in a real prison, or perhaps a prison of your own making?
Why should I listen? Why should I use David? Because I need him.
You remember David: knucklehead. Sinner. Recoverer
It literally says that I TRUST in YOU by TRUSTING in your word.
That is, the story of David comes with a decision point for me.
Will I take it to heart?
Will I trust you thru his story
Will I praise your WORD? Agree with this right answer?
Lord is asking for our amen to David’s experience of what HE DOES on his day without rainbows so that we are all ammo-ed up for OUR day without rainbows.
We have the opportunity to say to the scripture: Oh, I see what this very knuckleheadedly guy David does. This is a good principle. I have something to learn when it all hits the fan for me. I agree with David. I agree with God. He put this there FOR ME . maybe for NOW?
Here’s the thing about this podcast. I know many of my listeners.
I know your marriage troubles. I know your financial pressure. I know your health crisis. I know you have a chance to do this right amidst bad circumstances; circumstances you do not prefer
Here is what he does on his day without rainbows:
1 Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
2 my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
3 When I am afraid, ***************
I put my trust in you. ***********
4 In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. :
:Here’s my answer 6 words from David I put my trust in You. V 3
When I am afraid I put my trust in you.
In God , whose word I praise. (I agree and celebrate what David is doing as an example here)
In God, whose Word I praise, IN GOD I TRUST,
Here is what I do: in God I trust
Here is then the result: I shall not be afraid
When you are afraid, you should trust. When you trust you should not be afraid
Shortened
What can flesh do to me?
The short answer is: PLENTY . but not ultimately.
attacks, tramplings and other current circumstances May cause us to START in fear. But the fear does not have the final say . REPEAT
Here is the little formula: I am afraid (because flesh can do plenty to me: sick, die, pain, suffering, incur loss) I put my trust in you.
Pull out a dollar. Apparently, America herself must have learned this lesson. It is as if a whole country knows this truth.
Look what it says: It summarizes our truth for today: IN GOD WE TRUST.
The only way for a Country to enact this truth in reality is for the citizens of that country to individually trust in God, and then collectively trust in God. If enough of us do this as we put our boots on the ground, then we can actually put it on our money as a founding principle.
Is your trust happening when you are most afraid?
Do you trust in God so we can gather many such trusters together an proclaim WE TRUST in God communally.
What is your trust worth. What if we quantified it. What if we assigned a value to it. Here’s my final question:
Is your trust, worth a single dollar?
The dollar actually says so.
The dollar states that you have taken Ps56 to heart and that when you are afraid, you trust in God.
Is your faith worth a dollar? Or is your Is your trust quantified as pennies on the dollar?
The dollar bill says that we are doing Ps56 right.
So are you keeping up? Are you doing your part?
What does the dollar say about you?
The dollar says you trust in God. It says that WHEN you are afraid, you trust in God. And then, that trust ultimately results in not being afraid. What does the dollar say about you?
The dollar says you trust in God. Now go and do so!
