Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Do You Pray for Your President? S30e181
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your prayers are not optional for your President.
Your prayers can be a litmus test. Followers of God are called to pray for those who lead us, whether we agree with them or not.
Our ultimate King is the Lord. One of the ways He potentially works is through national leaders. So let's pray that our leaders follow the ultimate Leader, the Lord.
"God save the king." Is from psalm 20. Join me there for 6 ½ minutes.

Do You Pray for Your President? S30e181
We talked a few weeks ago about praying for your president.
Do you pray for your president?
, and by extension, all people who have their hand on the tiller ofleadership
Current pres: polarizing, so it is a good litmus test of theology and politics
If you don’t pray for your president,
there is something wrong with either your politics, or your theology of prayer.
Whether you voted for him or her is optional, your PRAYERS are not.
Your prayers are not optional for your President
As goes The success of our president; so goes the success of a nation
As goes the success of government, so goes the success of a nation.
I don’t care what your preferred politics are regarding this president, and you shouldn’t care about my preferences are as long as this is true: Let’s do what the Bible commands
This is a psalm (20) that addresses our behavior towards the OFFICE AND THE OCCUPYER of that office of national leadership
One can learn a great deal about one’s spiritual life from the evidences that are given in the relationshiop of an individuals relationship with gov.—the one we talk of today is PRAYER
I’ve had the privilege of being in a Wednesday am bible study for more than 30 years now. That’s 7 US president election mornings after We meet after the election of a new president. Some we have voted for. Some we haven’t. About ½ the time, the new administration will be someone I supported the day before, But on that every-four-years morning, we always do the same thing: we pray for our government. Yes their success.
I want to talk about the most famous verse of Psalm 20 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
The ultimate success of your country is based on its trust not in militarymight, but in the name of the Lord
To prosper your country, foster your allegiance with the Lord
To protect your people, put them in relationship with the name and Personof God
Military might is not final
Success as a nation is measured in trust, not in tanks
9 O Lord, save the king!
May he answer us when we call.
God save the Kingv.9 Why? As the Lord favors the king, He so favors the country.
As God gives grace to a president, He gives grace to His people.
As goes The success of our president; so goes the success of a nation
As goes the success of government, so goes the success of a nation.
What is the success of a president? His/her salvation.
I think O Lord, SAVE the king. It means please could you favor our leader with You the Lord Himself.
Could you actually, and miraculously, save the King.
We know you COULD save the King, you have the power to move in hearts, but Lord, WOULD you please be so kind?
God save the King, God save the president is a prayer that is not inappropriate for every citizen to put on their lips and hearts
Some do this, but we do this: some trust in chariots, but we trust in te nameof the Lord
How to pray for your president
Lord, would you please grant salvation to Him
That we could could shout for joy over him and your work
Will you please answer him when he calls to you on the day of trouble
Will you remember him with favor and preference and mercy
Would he trust in You rather than in horses and chariots and military
O God, save the president.
Psalm 20 is no different, it is a first a blessing for the King.
It is a petition, dependent before the Lord, asking for His favor towards the PERSON and the OFFICE of their national leader
But it is not heretical to use this for asking for a similar blessing for ourselves and our family and our friends and other people.
Just LISTEN Catalog and admire what the Lord does in this psalm
Perhaps you are in a particular distress
He answers on a day of trouble
Perhaps you are in a situation of external peril
He protects you with His name
Perhaps you are in what seems to be an insumountable spiritual battle of forgiveness
He sends help from His sanctuary
He remembers your offering
He regards with favor your sacrifices
Perhaps you are burdened with a great need
He grants your hearts desire
He fulfills you plans and petitions
Perhaps you need a great miracle of salvation itself
He saves His anointed
Your prayers are not optional for your President, or whatever earthly government you find yourself under.
Because Ultimately we also find ourselves under the Government of God. Our allegiance must first be to the govt of God
Let’s use Ps20 to ASK of our good Lord for His good favor.
Let’s do our part to pray, If Ps 20 is true, perhaps He will answer us,
it may change every thing.
Do you pray for your president?
, and by extension, all people who have their hand on the tiller ofleadership
If you don’t pray for your president,
there is something wrong with either your politics, or your theology of prayer.
Then change your behavior.
