Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

There is no doubt that for most, the pathway to happiness, and the reward being bestowed by God is to get married; to have a quiver full of children.
Should I have children?: generally yes yes yes.
How many children should I have? A quiver full.
If you were to prepare for militarily tough times ahead, how many arrows would you prepare with?

Making a home and making children S30e185
45 Stick around if you’re wondering about Family and children; Kindness of God
127 A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Talk about children:
Children are a heritage FROM THE LORD
Making life is sole prerogative of God. It is His alone.
Whole psalm 127about how He wishes it organized in the strength of a family, with the Lord building that house, extending a heritage
He doesn’t OWE the planet children. Children are the over and above
Principle here: if you put your hands toward raising a family, you will be rewarded in this family. Family is supposed to be, a net blessing.
Here is another blessing of children that young parents don’t have the time or the energy to consider: when you are NOT young parents, when you are OLD, these children are a protection.
They go from being protected to being protectors of the family
They go from being protected BY you to being protectors OF YOU
The arrow of children starts in the one’s YOUTH, but does not stop there.
Interesting as we are talking about the blessing of family, the topic of war; of military defense is mentioned.
When you meet your enemy in the gate
Fortified cities had point of vulnerability: the gate. Moving parts; complexity, different construction necessary to give access.
Metaphor and not metaphor
When you meet your enemy at the gate, when you are at a place of increased vulnerability, perhaps when YOU are being attacked, the children you have raised are now an asset of protection******.
They are like arrows that go forth to help you, defend you, defend themselves. The locked arms of the generations is a bond that is stronger than the crossed arms of one generation alone.
In fact, having the “arrows available” is all that is needed to keep the enemies OUTSIDE, and to keep the interaction one of SPEAKING at the gate rather than FIGHTING at the gate.
I so admire young families.
I so admire the courage of young families. They are doing a nobel, God-ordained, God-rewarded, future-enhancing, self protecting, generationally enhancing, fruit-making activity.
I envy the blessing of young families. 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
There is no doubt that for most, the pathway to happiness, and the rewardbeing bestowed by God is; to be most blessed is: to get married; to have a quiver full of children.
Should I have children: generally yes yes yes.
How many children should I have? A quiver full.
This kindness is an essential quality of God. You will need the kindness of God or you already have needed it.
God is Great does amazing things: forgives sin, makes creation, holds it all together. He does all this spiritual heavy lifting .
But God is great and gracious: He possesses the ability that we directly and absolutely require, and He is gracious: in that He actually extends it toward us. His KINDNESS is what connects His GREATNESS to us.
Note with me Ps 145: 17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.
His KINDNESS is what connects He GREATNESS to us.
He HAS to be. Without it we’d be permanently lost.
Without kindness, God’s greatness would be inaccessible
Without God’s Kindness, God’s greatness would be OUT OF REACH
Without God’s bending-down to me in kindness, I could not bow down to Him in belief
His KINDNESS is what connects He GREATNESS to us.
Yes, God is Great. He is unsearchably great.
Without His KINDNESS, that greatness stands aloof from me.
I need the Majesty and the MERCY
I need the GREATNESS and the grace
God’s KINDNESS connects us to the Capabilities of God
God’s Kindness connects us to the Clout of God
God’s Kindness connects the orphan to a great family
God’s KINDNESS connects the wanderer to the WONDERS of God
God’s kindness connects the sinner to the Savior
KINDNESS is what connects His GREATNESS to us. Thank you!
