Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
What do I get out of this? Specifically meekness Mt5:5 s31e40
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
An inheritance means resources and riches that were not sourced by you, are made available to you. Though it might be my first day in considering God, it is not God's first day. He has a storehouse ready.
How do I get it? The road to this inheritance leads through the pesky concept of meekness. Short answer: the Lord LOVES meekness. He is biased toward the bowed-down person.

What do I get out of this? Specifically meekness Mt5:5 s31e40
The Beatitudes have been a bit brutal you say?
Requiring, demanding, and observing that to get some good stuff you must be POOR IN SPIRIT, Mourn foremost over your sin and separation; and now be MEEK in a non-meek, dog eat dog world.
But yours then is the kingdom of heaven, you are comforted by God personally, and now you shall inherit the earth.
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Shall inherit the earth…
What does it mean and when do I get it
To what advantage is it to me. What do I get out of this?
What if I don’t want it? What if I say NO to meekness, grief
This was remembered by Jesus from a truth quoted from Ps 37:11 written by David 1000 years prior. The whole verse is: 11 But the meek shall inherit the land
and delight themselves in abundant peace.
It adds the delight the meek have in peace
Shalom=peace. More than just not being at war
Adds contentment, harmony, wholeness and sufficiency
State of robust relational and physical health, deliverance and salvation
Would it be attractive to you to be in a state of delight, well being, and safety in your relationship with God?
VS Would you like to be complete in Him; satisfied in Him, safe in Him
Or receiving no inheritance. Being not at peace. Not enjoying contentment; being at relational and physical odds; Still harried by discontentment, discord, division and disinheritance.
This verse and this whole passage compare two ways to live.
Some thing is definitely required: Meekness: being a bit bent
Bent before Him,bowed, humble and like Lowly worm
It is positionally secure as opposed to: you are on your own and you gotta make it on your own. There is nothing here for you that is from anybody else.
Do you hear what the passage says? There is an inheritance. That means resources and riches that were not sourced in you.
That it is not God’s first day.
That there are treasures at your disposal while you are alive, and treasures for you at your earthly demise.
Now, You get a peace that STANDS GUARD. Consider for a moment the strength of that peace and what it must fight against.
This person is described in Phil 4: 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Guarding your hearts by the peace of God that stands against: discontentment, discord, division and disinheritance.
This is a BIG ASK. Could the inheritance of this passage be big enough and strong enough and smart enough to STAND GUARD against all the temptations of the wrong kingdom?
Do you have meekness?
Do you know you got a kingdom? An inheritance that you didn’t earn?
Do you know you have a relational peace with God that couldn’t happen without the Help of Jesus.
Positionally God is mad at sin and sinners, He has to be, it is the job of HOLINESS.
and Jesus covers us, “they’re with me” I paid their cover charge
When do I get this? NOW and LATER:
NOW: John 14: 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
Here’s what we get now: relationship with a God above our paygrade, above our earning and striving. Just because He says so.
That certainly shuts our mouth of any boastfulness.
We get citizenship in an invisible kingdom.
We get this inheritance of Peace—a peace dividend that is extended to me because of the super-saving work of Jesus
LATER: 2 Peter 3:12 day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
New heavens and new earth—citizenship in a VISIBLE kingdom
Place where righteousness dwells.
How do I get to inherit this kingdom of relational peace now and later? By fostering PEACE.
We talked yesterday about what Meekness might do In your interactionswith those in your household? With your co-workers; with your driving; with the government; with your boss; with your spouse.
What might meekness do in my relationship with God? It is Settled, submissive, secure, spiritually solid. And SATISFIED.
It is being at relational peace with God now and later
God bends down to the bent
God leans down toward those who are leaned over
God favors those fallen before Him
God is biased toward the bowed
God lifts the lowly worms into an inheritance of peace.
