Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

“Self-righteousness” is NO Righteousness at all! S31e41 Mt5:6
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
It is particularly helpful to think about righteousness as being in right-standing before God. The problem is that every human has spoiled that standing. So how are we going to restore relationship? Well, we'll need a bit of help.
To do it yourself will not end well because there is no such thing as self-righteousness that is not an offense to God.

What is r.? What about Self r. and WHEN is r.
We are designed and created by Him, for relationship with Him.
However, we have done just about everything possible to rebel against His Hand of friendship
So who will be the breach-fixer? How will be get right again with God, for this is what righteousness means. ***************
What is righteousness?
being in right relationship and right standing with God****
Who gets to say that the requirements have been fulfilled?
Well to achieve right standing with God, it is done by HISrequirements, not ours
Righteousness means that It is to HIS standards that the relational requirements are met, not ours.
To opine: “Here is what I THINK” makes me good before God is ridiculous . No, God requires. We inquire our position must be one of humility and hunger and thirsting, not demanding.
It is us who must ask, “are we good here?”
Because it is us who have offended.
If you think you have a self-righteousness: that is a righteousness in yourself to stand, sit or crawl before a HOLY God we have some more work to do here.
How can a man or a woman be righteous before God?
By themselves, they cannot achieve it.
This is why we hunger, this is why we thirst, because we cannot do this by ourselves.
Without God, righteousness is impossible.
Otherwise it is called SELF-righteousness.
There is no such thing as self-righteousness that is not an offense to God
After God Goes thru 1000s of year rescue operation to end in Jesus paying penalties and satisfying these otherwise impossible righeteousness requirements; for us to still consider that “I can do it by myself” mode is particularly offensive to God.
After all the trouble God went thru to fix this breach “self righteous” is particularly offensive before God.
That is, to get righteousness wrong will leave us farther from truerighteousness than when we started.*********
Here is a Christian pillar of the faith: there is a relational breach, and therefore a RIGHTEOUSNESS breach between mankind and God.*****
Get this right. If you don’t you won’t understand all the trouble that God went through to heal that relational breach.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for a restoration of the relational breach **********.
Where will this answer come from? From us? No. From Him? Y
WHEN is righteous restored? When is this When is this promised righteous fully achieved? NOT YET
Now blessed are those hunger and thirst for righteousness
This means you want it*****
This means you are built to want it, to need it.
This means you don’t have it yet***—time has not yet come
Ps 94 How long shall the wicked exult?
How long o God will you look on? Why do you hide your face?
There are about 30 of them: Psalm 13:1–2
1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Time will come
Christianity has pillars of faith that we don’t yet see
If you could see those pillars, it would be SIGHT
Not faith
You are going to fix this world. Make it perfect.
