Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. The Pure in heart
Blessed are the PURE in Heart, for they shall see God Mt.5:8
We took a quick trip to heaven yesterday to see what the pure in heart see and do not see.
Ultimately, their prize is to see God, be with God, and live with him forever.
Meantime, Our ultimate problem is that we do not always, have pure hearts
We do not often have pure hearts.
We’ll learn soon in Mt 5:28 that you can commit adultery “in your heart” because the heart is the seat of personality, will and volition.
We’ll learn in Mt 12: For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
That the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart.
What is inside comes outside.
What is inside comes outside into thoughts.
What is inside comes outside into words.
Your THOUGHTS are an advertisement to your need for God; specifically today your need for a pure heart.
Too, your actions betray, what is pure or not pure inside your heart.
Conclusion:
Do you have a pure heart?
In medicine today, we have many tests to assess the condition of ones heart: Ekg, stress tests, ultrasounds, ejection fractions, angiogram, cardiac enzymes, QT interval
Would you be willing or interested in having God write something on your heart? Jer 31:33
33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people
Ez 36:25 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Wait. Maybe I have a heart of stone.
Maybe I need a new heart. A New Spirit.
Maybe I need to carry the commitment further
Heart-of-stone surgery is needed.
Who is the physician: God.
What is His specialty: Heart of stone surgery
Specifically removal of hearts of stones
Transplantation of hearts of flesh.
Perhaps it Is time for a consultation with the great physician
Heart of stone surgery can only be done by Another
The purpose of heart of stone surgery is to make it the way it was supposed to be in the beginning: uncalcified, fleshly, responsive
God is the great actor on Hearts of stone
We have something to say, : yes, work on me Lord.
If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.
If today you hear His voice, prepare yourself for some surgery.
Specifically, don’t harden your hearts, let him operate
Conviction (diagnosis communication with the patient),
repentance (agreement with the diagnosis and the treatment plan.
Rom 10:9 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Consent: Submitting to surgery. Consent. In the business.

Our job here is to drawn near.

Do your part: let thoughts and actions reflect a heart that has been turned into flesh: Put off old ways. Put on new ways. ‘touch no unclean thing. Separate from the old unholy
Allow God to firstly be with you: Lev 26: 12 And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people.
