Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Taking an interest in what interests God S31e77 Mt6:10

The Lord asks us to take an interest in what interests Him, namely:
- The holiness of His name,
- the coming of His Kingdom,
- and the accomplishment of His will.
Of interest, He asks us to care about the things He cares about.
To pray for these things is music to His ears.
Let's let the priorities of
- God’s name (reputation),
- God’s kingdom (real estate)
- and God’s will(rule) infiltrate your prayers

Taking an interest in what interests God S31e77 Mt6:10
God has some concerns in the Lord’s prayer.
Here is the structure of the Lord’s prayer:
Intro: one address:; Our father in heaven
Then 3 concerns of God
Then 3 concerns of US
Here is the big reveal about this video.
God has concerns which should be given priority in prayer. God has interests which we best address in prayer. privelige
We’ll ask today: what are the interests of God?
Why whould I be concerned with the priorities of God
Why should I attend to what draws the attention of God?
It is probably going to be true, that what is important to God
Is also of ultimate importance to me.
We have some concerns which we will get to: namely
Give US this day our daily bread
Forgive us our debtors as we have forgiven our debtors
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Yes God wants us to pray for our concerns.
So what are the concerns of God as we use the Lord’s prayer as a template?
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Did you hear what God wishes you to address regarding HIS concerns? His NAME, His KINGDOM, His WILL
How much do the priorities of God’s name (reputation), God’s kingdom (real estate) and God’s will(rule) infiltrate your prayers?
He is calling us to align our concerns with HIS concerns
And even to give PRIORITY to them
We want that God is to be thought of correctly: Father, family, holy heaven.
Hallowed be thy name
We exist on a fallen, and in some ways far-from-Him world
We trash God by “thinking He is like us”
Rather than HOLY, pure, set apart
We trash His name and thoughts of Him by our verbal curses
He is holy and due reverence on every future heavenly day
But also due such admiration now today, every Tuesday
And every Thursday.
Thy kingdom come
That the invisible real estate of God’s kingdom would be manifested here.
If you like to think about it geographically.
That the acreage of influence would grow. How’s that
By one heart, by one mental trust, by one act at a time
By one wallet that is changed to generosity
By one zipper that is called to obedience
By one soul that puts its eggs in the basket Lordsarm
Thy kingdom come where, Here. When now.
Thy kingdom come. When? On the ultimate day of your reign, with judg;ment, wrath, justice, truth
We want it for THIS day and we wait for it on THAT day.
Thy will be done
Let your will be done. May I allow it on my footprint of this kingdom. May those I lock arms with in the church allow it. May those who see me, and see us, doing our thing with God also be called to jump into the Tsunami of God’s will.
Remember His will is pleasing, good and perfect
Are you in a church which keeps and teaches and worships and moves to expand the borders of His kingdom now and also looks to the hope of His promises. There is no true understanding of Thy Kingdom come outside the context of the church and fellowship.
It is there that His name is treated rightly by worship,
By song, by setting our thinking, by the careful prep of a sermon to help us know stuff and think the right way
It is there that wills are wrangled into submission
“The problem with living sacrifices is that they keep wriggling off the altar”
The problem with people is we are tempted to wander from His will—the church, the word, the HS helps re-steer us back
Your kingdom come: the church is likely involved in OUTREACH. There best is a concern for the expansion of the the kingdom INSIDE the walls of your church, but also OUTSIDE the walls of your church. If there is not, there are better churches out there for you.
God is appropriately occupied by the His concerns and interests.
He asks us to take an interest in what interests Him, namely:
The holiness of His name, the coming of His Kingdom, and the accomplishment of His will.
Of interest, He asks us to care about the things He cares about.
To pray for these things is music to His ears.
