Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Yesterday we broke down the structure of the Lord’s prayer only to find surprisingly: God has some concerns in the Lord’s prayer.
Intro: one address:; Our father in heaven
Then 3 concerns of God
Then 3 concerns of US
Why should I attend to what draws the attention of God?
Did you hear what God wishes us to address regarding HIS concerns? His NAME, His KINGDOM, His WILL
Noticed that He asks us to take an interest in what interests Him, namely:
The holiness of His name, the coming of His Kingdom, and the accomplishment of His will.
How much do the priorities of God’s name (reputation), God’s kingdom (real estate) and God’s will(rule) infiltrate your prayers?
Today: 11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Again, what categories does Jesus teach us to pray in this model prayer?
Give US this day our daily bread
Forgive us our debtors as we have forgiven our debtors
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

Matt 6:34 34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Give us on this current day, the resources sufficient for the coming day. This is a humble prayer for Supply what I need when I need it.
Give me the bread sufficient for the day so I can be sufficient to the day.
What supply do you need now, maybe this morning, so you can have the material and spiritual subsistence necessary for the now tasks.
Fill my tank with the exact right ingredients to be ready for the challenges in the near future.
God did not need to design us needing to eat 3 times a day.
Did that on purpose: we are dependent here on this planet to the planets provision by the design of God.
He apparently WANTS us to pause, to appreciate, to give thanks to Him, remember His provision, day after day after day until the days are over.
I don’t know what’s ahead three years from today, but it probably will involve breakfast.
This 4th petition in the Lord’s prayer focuses on the daily physical needs with their supply.
Also, not too far a stretch to think of the spiritual manna provision for the spiritual efforts necessary
The DAILY bread means literally our coming-upon bread
Bread from heaven. Our physical supply is ultimately from Lord
What if you have more bread, more physical supply than is required for the day? Pride?
Remember the cautions in Dt8: 17 Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ 18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth
It is all from the Lord, so it ultimately is all FOR the Lord.
Spiritual manna
Ps 119 : 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
Lotta darkness out there. My lamp is small. It is for the navigation of these feet in this place on this night. I don’t need to have the light of the brightest sun, but I do need the light for my feet: where I am, what I am stepping amidst, what my local next steps are.
The light of a single small flame, that one would have in a lamp is precious amidst great darkness.
Give us today our daily bread
May I live in a state of constant dependence on the physical provision of God, and the spiritual provision of God
What is ahead for me today? Prepare me physically and emotionally to be ready. Give me the courage for today, the kindness for today, the wisdom of your word. Give me the calories
If I have excess of any of those, I pray for OUR brothers who may be right on the edge. Those sick. Those grieving. Those struggling with temptation, those in need of spiritual provision.
Pv 30:8 give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
9 lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God.
