Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Prying your clutching fingers off an offense S31e80 Mt6:14
Forgiveness means to let it go. Leave it behind. To leave it to the final justice of God.
Here is the picture for today: To forgive, is to pry your clutching fingersaway from the memory of an offence that has been directed at you, and then offer it into the right hands of God for justice.
It is an act of faith in the Lord and His ways and His kingdom, and His justice, and His wrath, and His Mercy.
Forgiveness is an act and exercise of FAITH write this down.
When wronged, there is a big choice: carry it with you, leave it Forgiveness is to pardon by resting in the response of Godnot mine
Our passage yesterday in the Lord’s prayer of Mt 6
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
presumed the previous participation in the forgiveness of others AS WE ALSO HAVE FORGIVEN our debtors
Forgive my current sins, as I have already, previously, past tense, been involved in forgiving those who have sinned against me.
Passage calls not only to demonstrate the skill of being forgiven, which involves repentance and asking for forgiveness toward me, but also to DEMONSTRATE the skill forgiving others.
PICTURE FOR TODAY: To ask another to pry their fingers off of an offense that YOU have committed, one first must have demonstrated that you understand and wish to participate in this process by prying your hands off offenses they have commited towards you.
On the day that you require forgiveness, you should have a bank of experience in forgiving others. The forgiveness that you require is paved on the reps of the forgiveness that you have demonstrated.
You should have a storehouse of forgiveness reps already saved up when the time comes for you to request forgiveness.
This probably means that you should spend about 95% of your spiritual forgiveness time working on the difficult work of forgiving others and 5% of your time watching for offenses others commit against you.
This would be to raise the awareness and the participation in the forgiving of other, and to lower the awareness of being offended.
This then scratchs them off the list you carry of those who have wronged me
To banishes them from the vengeance list
In so doing this frequently, that my life is characterized by forgiveness—known by it.
Yesterday we saw the HORIZONTAL truth of this passage
I have been forgiving those who have stepped on my toes already.
So, when I trespass, I have standing even to ask for forgive
Today, just outside of the boundary of what we call the Lord’s prayer, in the very next verse we see the VERTICAL truth of the passage: 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
If this truth is applied to you, there is one entity who is stingy in their extending forgiveness: YOU
It is not that God is stingy here in forgiveness.
Forgiving gives birth to forgiving.
Extending forgiveness begets receiving forgiveness.
Is your life characterized by extending forgiveness? Is your life characterized by how much God has forgiven you?
The global grace that God extends may have a localized filter.
What is that filter? The heart that is already bent to forgive.
The heart bend TO forgive is the heart that most apt to receive forgiveness
Being ready to forgive positions the soul to being ready to receiveforgiveness
Connclusions

It is critical for your human relationshiops, and heavenly!

There is no more valuable life skill than forgiveness.
I’d like to go to a funeral someday, and hear told of a person, that when the eulogist looks back upon their life says something like: this person may have had great trespass commited against them BUT mightily demonstrated the power of forgiveness. Forgiving characterized their life
. The forgiveness that you require is paved on the reps of the forgiveness that you have demonstrated. YOU REQUIRE FORGIVENESS. Demonstrate first that you are ready for it.
Forgiveness is an act and exercise of FAITH, in the future justice of God.
Here is the charge:
Go Pry your fingers off offenses against you. Why? So other humans and God can pry their fingers off of the offense you commit.
