2025 Ep. 308 Dynamic Faith: The Power of a Mustard Seed - More Abiding = More Faith

One City

Dynamic Faith: The Power of the Mustard Seed is about establishing God’s definition of faith. It’s very possible that “Faith” is the most controversial topic throughout the pages of scripture. Why is that true? It’s because the biggest and boldest promises are always associated “Faith.” Since that’s true, this topic generates the strongest of feelings, both positively and negatively.

At One City Church, we operate from the belief that the Bible is God’s Word; therefore, it is true and without error. We can’t pick and choose what verses we believe and keep versus what versus we doubt and delete. Since the verses on “Faith” are so prominent and important; it is essential for us to understand and apply them accurately.

That’s why this series is about moving from a man-centered to a God-centered perspective on “Faith.” When we read the scriptures from a man-centered perspective we misunderstand and misapply everything. We turn “Faith” into a formula and make it small and powerless. Obviously, that’s the complete opposition of God’s definition of “Faith.”

Today’s message is from Matthew 17:14-20. A father comes to the disciples asking them to heal his son. Even though the disciples have cast out demons and healed people previously, they weren’t able to do it this time. All of us should be able to identify with ebbs and flows of our abiding relationship and thus our faith.

How irresponsible would it be for faith to be formula? Faith is too important and too powerful to allow shortcuts. When it comes to increasing our faith, we must embrace the process of becoming a trustworthy steward and servant.

This passage invites into another level of abiding and mountain moving faith by inviting us into a lifestyle of prayer and fasting.
