2025 Ep. 318 Prayer: Where the Battle is Won Pt. 6
James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly (with wrong motives), to spend it on your passions.” If one can ask wrongly, how does one ask rightly? Again, it goes back to this truth; prayer is a relationship, not a transaction. We ask correctly when we ask from the context of being the Father’s son or daughter. Ultimately, pray is listening to God and responding.
When comes to prayer, the book of James tells us there’s much we can learn from Elijah. James 5:17b-8 says, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.”
Frequently, when we look at the heroes of our faith, we only look at their heroic moments. That’s a mistake because it elevates them to a category that’s above our reach. It’s vitally important for us to remember that “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours.” This means Elijah didn’t live on the spiritual mountain top; he also had moments in the valley. It means he had his doubts and fears, but it also means God never gave up on him.
God can use you in the same way that He used Elijah. This message is all about ending the drought in your life, in your family, in your church, and in your city.
Turn in and let’s declare together, “The drought is over.”
