So if you want to take your performance and your leadership to the next level, then you're in the right place. Listen up and connect with the magic.
[00:36] And we are diving into the third episode of Expertise on peak performance in this season of the Focus B show on T and pi greater time, energy and attention for improvements in profit, impact and expertise. Because I firmly believe that the way in which you manage your time, energy, and attention will impact how much you earn in profit, the impact that you have in the world, how you contribute and your expertise in a field. And today, ten minutes will not be enough, but I will cover it in ten minutes. Today's topic is peak performance, which is one of my ultimate, ultimate favorite topic. And how does it relate to expertise? How is it relevant in the context of expertise? Peak performance is your ability to both manage your time, energy, and attention at a very high level, but also your state, which is linked to your energy, and to be an expert and take things to the next level in your field. This is why they're directly related. It's not just a matter of mastering your energy or how you manage your time. It's also a matter of being and performing at that level that will make you an expert. Though there's a direct correlation between the level at which you perform and your level of expertise, because most experts in their field, they're high performance. They are people who have managed to develop high performance habits, who have managed to put in place all of these habits to ensure that they perform at a high level so that they can contribute at a high level of expertise. So when it comes to peak performance, as I mentioned, managing your time super effectively. You know, the first part of this season is on time, so I've covered a lot of tools and ideas there. And then energy, I've also covered quite in depth in the second part of energy. But I just want to say one small thing, which is that the state in which you show up every single day will transform the way in which you work, which will lead you to greater levels of expertise. So being aware that how you show up every single day, the state that you have, the energy that you generate and share to other people will make you a high performer. And this leads me to the six habits that Brendan bashard talks about. So this is through his work, and in his book High Performance Habits, he talks about these six habits of high performance. And the six habits are to seek clarity, to generate energy, raise necessity, increase productivity, develop influence and demonstrate courage. Let's begin with the first one. In terms of seeking clarity, this is absolutely essential. If you don't know where you're going, if you're not clear on your direction, on how you want to show up every day, on what sort of emotions do you want to have and what sort of contribution do you want to make, it will make it very difficult for you not to be a high performer. I feel a lot of people don't have enough clarity in their business and in their life, and this is what holds them back. So clarity is a fundamental, fundamental pillar of high performance generating energy. We've spoken about this as a whole part and series of this season on energy, and I could speak about it all day. It is fundamental. It is what really makes the whole difference. So if you're feeling that you're slacking on your energy, check out the episodes of the energy part, but also notice it and try to think how can you tweak it and remember that the state in which you show up every day has a huge impact. Raising necessity, which is the third habit that Brendan bashard talks about, is something that I didn't think of much until I read his book. And it's very interesting because you can both raise necessity internally and externally. Internally is when you look at why it matters for you, starting with why, as Simon Sinek says, and looking at why do you show up every day. Clutil Buao, that I interviewed on this podcast, who is a high performance certified coach, she explains that what she does every morning is she says out loud to herself what her mission is, why she's doing what she's doing, and why it matters to her. And this is really helping her to reconnect with her why and to raise higher levels of necessity within herself. And if you have external necessity, this is where maybe you have some form of accountability or a coach or a mentor or a partner that is holding you accountable for your progress and for the actions you are taking. When it comes to increase in productivity, which is the fourth habit, how you manage your time, how productive you are, which is doing more of what actually matters and matters to you. This comes back to the first part of the season on time. So there's a lot of things here in terms of increasing productivity. The fifth habit is developing influence. And here we've spoken a bit in terms of Impact, how this can support you to develop influence. So if you build a community, for instance, that's a fantastic way to develop more influence and make a difference on other people's lives. Looking at the different levels that I discussed in the second episode of Impact, this also is important because this is a fantastic way to develop influence. And as I mentioned in the Leadership Enhancement, the previous episode on Expertise being a leader is the ability to influence others and to influence their way of thinking and acting for the greater good and for the greater good of the world. That's what positive and encouraging leaders do. And it's the same when you're a high performer. A high performer is a leader of themselves and others, and it is linked to expertise. They're all different terms with similar angles. In expertise, we're looking more at maybe specific knowledge. In leadership, we're looking at the way you lead others and yourself. And in high performer we're thinking of the energy in which you show up and the way you master the time, energy, and maybe your attention also, because that's fundamental and just the overall way in which you perform. And so being a great leader, an expert and a high performer all go very nicely together, though obviously they're not exactly the same. And the last habit is demonstrating courage. And this is something that, especially if you're a business owner, you may be doing on a regular, even daily basis without being aware of it. You might not even be aware that you're demonstrating courage. So just by being proactive and by facing things that are challenging, maybe emotionally, or being vulnerable online and sharing something in a post, this is a form of courage. So don't neglect the courage side of high performance. Those heaks habits are based on Brendan Bushard's book, High Performing Habits, and they really are transformational, and they're based on a lot of studies of different high performance. So if you want to take your performance to the next level, if you want to be a high performer, then I highly invite you, first of all to read Brendan Bashard's book, it's fantastic. But also to apply the time, energy and attention practices to master all of these things, to increase your level of performance and then to look at these six habits of clarity and energy necessity, productivity, influence and courage and start to analyze. Where are you great and in good realm, or you feel that you've mastered these quite highly? And where do you feel you can improve what you feel is holding you back from being a greater performer? Because then when you notice these, when you pick up on it, you will also see how this is impacting your expertise. Maybe if you haven't developed influence, for instance, this is holding you back as an expert. As I mentioned in the Leadership enhancement episode, increasing your credibility and visibility is important if you want to be seen as an expert in your field. So this is a fundamental aspect. I use the word fundamental a lot, but there are a lot of things that are fundamental. And yes, so if you notice you're maybe not demonstrating courage as highly as you would want to, then you can maybe work on that though, if you have your own business and if you're showing up every day, as an entrepreneur, my guess is you're probably quite courageous anyway. So start to notice which area you can improve. Maybe it's tapping into that energy or increasing your productivity. And start to monitor this maybe on a weekly basis so that you can improve your different levels, different habits of high performance, and be a high performer in your field and in life in general. Because high performance really just means to lead a fulfilled and balanced life where you both are an expert and leader in your working field and you have healthy and happy relationships in your work and in your life.
