[00:36] Today we are going to go through role model and inspiration. So far we've been through Tea and Pi with time, energy and attention for greater profit, impact and expertise. And in the Impact series we've covered mission, vision and purpose. The different levels on which you can have an impact in your life and in your business. Ripple Effect how what you do has a ripple effect on people around you. So don't neglect the ripple effect. And the latest episode was on community. How being part of a community will help you to upgrade your mindset, to think differently, to take more bold actions, and how leading your own community is a fantastic way to contribute to the world and to people around you. Today, as I mentioned, we're covering role model and inspiration. This is where you start to upgrade your own mindset without maybe being part of a community and where you can also inspire other people around you. So first let's look at how you can benefit. Firstly, before you impact others on how to be more inspired and take greater actions and think differently based on role model, there are different ways in which you can apply this. One of them is to have a specific role model for different categories in your life. For instance, you might think in business and get highly inspired by someone in your field who's maybe written a book you've really enjoyed, who maybe has a podcast or YouTube channel or something that you find extremely interesting and extremely motivational and where you feel that you would like to run your business. In a similar way, when you have this type of business role model, you can start to copy them basically. And by copy I don't mean their content, I mean their process. For instance, in the different Levels of Impact episode I mentioned that you can have free resources and then payable but still affordable and type of impact and then a more exclusive impact and offer. If you see someone in business that's running a blog and you really enjoy the way they write and this format they have, and then maybe they have a podcast or all these different things, you can start to do something similar once more. I mean the process for example, if they write short blog posts, maybe you also want to write short blog posts but doesn't mean you're going to copy the actual blog post. I think that makes sense. So you can use role models to see how often do they send out a newsletter? Do they send it out once a week or once a month. And whatever you find inspiring and you like their way of doing, you can start to imitate that. And this is how many people have grown their business just by looking what works, what works around them, what type of posts work well, what type of social media, what type of consistency, and using that as an inspiration to improve your own business. This is a case of a business role model, but you could also have a sports roles model who exercises a lot or you find highly motivational or interesting. You can have different role models for different areas of your life. And one way to use this is by asking yourself, what would such and such do? What would Tony Robbins do in this situation? What would Eckhart Toll do in this situation? Or what would thes goding think about this post? And you start to ask these things. And what will happen is that you will start to think differently and act differently when you ask those questions. So once you found a role model that you really find inspiring, you can use that to upgrade your thinking. If you're part of a community that upgrades your thinking, that will also help. And use this to shift the way in which you think. You can also use your future self, the alter ego and I did an episode on this previously you can also use the alter ego, which is your future self or your optimal best self, as a role model. And that way of thinking is, what would future me do in this situation with all the knowledge that I will then have acquired, with all the different experience that I would then have, what would me from ten years in the future think or do? And once you start to have a very clear picture of what that person looks like, feels, acts like, you're activating in yourself, your best self, you're finding your inner resources and your inner strength to think differently, to act differently. And you're tapping into this inner part that's always there, but sometimes it's maybe a bit hidden and you're uncovering it. So using role model and your future self can have a huge impact on the way you live and lead your life. Now, given that this part of the season is on impact, and by impact I generally mean impacting others, how can you use this to be a greater role model and to inspire others? This is really linked to the fact that, as I discussed in The Ripple Effect, what we do shifts and transforms people around us. And this is specifically relevant if you're a leader. And we are all leaders because we all lead, at least ourself. But if you're a leader in a company, maybe a CEO of a company, or business owner with a small team, then the way in which you show up at work, the actions you take, the type of conversations you generate and discuss, all of these things will impact and change people around you. So if you want to have a team that's more inspired, if you want people to feel more inspired by what you're saying or doing, then you need to take the actions and you need to show up in the way that inspires others. Because they won't just be inspired because you're leading the company, but if you are always kind or always honest, or you have integrity and what you do is aligned. And it makes sense if you're able to discuss difficult conversations honestly and openly, but still with kindness, all of these things will shift and change. The way people work will impact their motivation. And there really is no replacement for being a good leader than acting in a way that's a role model. You might want in these moments to tap into your best self or to tap into your future self in order to have this ability to be a great role model. But I'd also invite you not to overthink this, because you don't want to spend your whole time thinking, how can I be a great role model for my team or for my company? But more to think, how can I show up every day and be a source of joy, be a source of inspiration, be a source of motivation to the people around me. And then you'll start to see that certain behaviors, such as not losing your temper, remaining calm and grounded in all circumstances in times of crisis, being able, as I said, to discuss difficult topics but do so and not avoiding them, taking proactive decisions and discussing them with your team all of these types of behaviors will be noticed. People will notice if you show up with positive energy, if you have an abundance mindset and you believe that things are possible, that they are always resources available. I remember when I was working at Sea, we had one project manager, and for a couple of weeks this project manager thought nothing was possible and it wouldn't work and this would break, et cetera, et cetera. And so for two weeks it'd see, we made very little progress. And then the project manager, which is essentially the leader on the boat, changed. And the new project manager had a totally different attitude. Oh, yes, we could definitely do that. That'll be possible. Yeah, that'll take us no time. And in two days we made far more progress than we had in two weeks. What had changed? Not the sea conditions, not the equipment, not the rest of the team. The only thing that had changed was the leader, and more specifically, the leader's attitude. So you have far more impact through the way you behave and the way you think on your team, your company. And if you don't have a team and company on the people around you, if you start to exercise every day, your friends will be more motivated to exercise. If you begin meditation and you have a regular meditation practice, people around you will get inspired, will ask questions, and some people will also start to meditate. This is related to the ripple effect and being a role model and inspiring people around you is something that happens all the time. Think about it for yourself. What inspiration have you had from people around you who has inspired you to exercise more or to meditate or to get up earlier and you'll start to notice so many people have changed and transformed your life in so many ways, and you can do exactly the same. And it has a huge impact on the way other people lead their life. So don't neglect it. And if you're a leader of a business, this will happen in your business. And if you're not leading a team in your business, you can also have an impact on your colleagues, coworkers, friends, family and everyone around you. So this was today's episode on role model and inspiration. I hope you found it insightful. I hope you are going to take some actions regarding this and shift the way in which you show up every single day to inspire more people around you to have a greater impact on the world.
