Welcome to the Bourbon Boys. We're back in the uh whiskey din, the mythical Labrador uh lab laboratory. Sorry, uh there's a dog here. We have a third party here.
SPEAKER_00Laboratory is a bathroom. Laboratory is a science. Like, so yeah, we're not in a laboratory. Yeah, I think.
SPEAKER_02There's a laboratory and a lavatory.
SPEAKER_00A lavatory. Is it right? No? With a V? Isn't that a bathroom? Like when you're playing, they're like I'm going to the laboratory.
unknownInteresting.
SPEAKER_00We might be on something here.
SPEAKER_02We're on to something. I don't know if it's correct. That's right.
SPEAKER_00We're back in back in the den. We got T-Rex. Yeah. We're joined by next to me. He smelt that Jack and he came right over here.
SPEAKER_02Jack Daniels pick from Amons 132.7 proof?
SPEAKER_00Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_02That was pretty good memory just from the case.
SPEAKER_00It's actually 0.6, but I was I like once you started like gloating a little bit. How about how good? Then I was like, I gotta correct it.
SPEAKER_02That's pretty close.
SPEAKER_00I'm very impressed. I'm very impressed. Like when I looked, I was like, damn, you got it right.
SPEAKER_02So what we're talking about is what are we talking about this episode? This was this was uh Showtime.
SPEAKER_00Uh do's and don'ts at a bottle share. Okay. And uh it's kind of loose, right? Because I I think about this a lot. You go to a bottle share and it's supposed to be fun. You want to start do's or don'ts first? Um let's do do's first. Do's first. Okay, so my those are less funny. Right? My first all yours will be less funny. My first my first do bring bottles that you want to share. And I think it gets uh confusing because I think some people get too competitive, and I want to bring the best bottle or the most expensive bottle. And my thought is always like bring a store pick that you think is unique, or bring something that's maybe not in the market, or you hear from another guy or another person in the group uh that oh, I've never tried this, and you may have it on your shelf. Like, bring that. Like that's gonna increase that socialization aspect, and I think that's what it's really about. That's a good one. I think that's you mean to go one. You got one?
SPEAKER_02You got one? We'll go one-one and put in the top three or do three do's and don'ts.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like that.
SPEAKER_02Uh, my number one do is something I've always done at bottle shares. By the way, what are we watching? Just to give the people an idea.
SPEAKER_00You turned on the ESPN, the Ocho. I think we got Frisbee throwing right now. It looks like he's it's a juggling competition. It's juggling and then World Juggler Federation. Three up, three sixty. They they call out what they're supposed to do.
SPEAKER_02It's a different a little bit different than the uh NBA playoff game we're watching.
SPEAKER_00What's the dance game uh that you dance on the room? Oh, the dance revolution? It's what that's what it looks like on the left side of the screen. It'll it's coming down, right? Or guitar hero 5 up 360. So he's got to put 5 up, 360 spit. You got it? Okay. This is wild. Chaos.
SPEAKER_02There's got to be so much vagina getting thrown around at this thing.
SPEAKER_00I can imagine the money. Oh, he got nine, he got a minus point two for that. Uh he didn't do Brandon pays no pen. No, I'm not worried about I'm not worried about that. Uh comment. I can only just imagine there's some random dude somewhere in this country right now on a three-day bender putting money on the world.
SPEAKER_02That's a good point. You think it's a juggling contest.
SPEAKER_00He needs to hit. Like there's some guy right now. He needs to be. He got to hit that 360. He's sitting in a bar right now, and like, oh, we got point plus point one. We're back in the money. Jeff hit that 360. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, my first do is something I've always done, like I was gonna say before we started uh doing this, before I went off on that wild tangent. Uh, I always bring more bottles. I just bring a ton of everybody's like, you bring so many bottles to every share. There's a there's a method behind my madness.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I bring a lot of bottles because then nobody can really hone in on one. So one of them doesn't get drank a ton.
SPEAKER_00Because one of the worst things at a bottle share is when everyone wants to try a bottle and it's your bottle and you want to share, but you know that thing is disappearing.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna be gone.
SPEAKER_00Correct. So you put that thing out, it's gone.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, another do um I think don't like it comes back to kind of that first one, but like, don't don't go in there with a competitive mindset. That like I'm comparing my bottles to someone else's bottles. Like, go in with the open mindset that everyone is there to share things they found, or you know, more of that community aspect is how I try to approach it. Like I try to bring things that uh other people may have said they wanted to try, or have I've just heard in conversation. Um, so I just I guess I try to approach it with a positive mindset. Like no one's there. What you do is approach it with a positive mindset, right? Because it's like no one's out to get it like a self-help podcast. See, that's like basketball coaching. Like, I want you to go in there with your head high and your back straight and uh be proud of what you got. Be proud of yourself, yeah, exactly. Like you, you know, people want to people want to talk to you. Uh because you're all you're and that to me is like you're sitting in a room of like-minded individuals. So that's the perfect time to like to nerd out. You want to talk about mash bills? That's the room that you can do it in. That's the exact opposite of what I do. I go over and sit in the corner and one bottle back. It drives me crazy. It drives me crazy. My problem is if there's a ball game on, I'll sit down and then I'm then I'm in trouble. Yeah. Then I'm because that'll that'll take my mind and then. Yeah, when the basketball in Kentucky was playing on those wins, then I can't. I'm worthless to you. I'm worthless to you.
SPEAKER_02That's perfect.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Uh my other do is do bring bottles that you don't care if they get killed. Because you then you you get upset if you bring a bottle that you didn't want killed and it gets killed.
SPEAKER_00I think it's it's more about um, and I think it's someone like yourself who's sold barrels and sold bottles quite a bit. Take that as a compliment that you brought something that everyone was like, Whoa, like you know what I mean? Like, if anything, I take take pride in that aspect. Like, oh, that guy brings good stuff. Even if it's like a store pick or some random thing, like he always finds something cool, right? Like, I know there's some guys, I'm always curious of what's in their bag because they always bring something out of left field that I may have not have seen before. Or what's in their box when it's me. Correct. Is that a big thing? Correct. Like we were and to shout out, you'll like this. Uh, Brad from Porn Broke brought that rice whiskey from JT Mellick.
SPEAKER_02I'll like that, huh?
SPEAKER_00And I I think you will like it. Uh it to me, it was like rice pudding. I was very impressed. I almost get like a cinnamon um raisin on it. It was delicious. Uh, but just stuff like that, where I'm like, whoa, I wouldn't even have thought to buy that. But that's cool to me. Yeah, I don't buy anything. Smart man. Smart man.
SPEAKER_02I did buy the Evan Williams bottle and uh single barrel for the podcast last week. The USA or no, I just bought a regular one shelf. Yeah, yeah. Total wines, it was like 27 bucks. We were doing shelfers.
SPEAKER_00I just want you, I there's something I gotta tell you too. I love that you say total wines. Yeah. Like that very southern in you. Like Walmart's, like I'm going over to Kroger's. You're going to Kroger's picking saves. Yep, exactly. That's uh very southern of you. Get a buggy. Exactly. I appreciate that in you. Um the other th the other do I kind of think of is um just for me personally, I I like to bring multiple glasses.
SPEAKER_02You are a highball glass guy.
SPEAKER_00I'm a highball glass guy.
SPEAKER_02This is weird to me.
SPEAKER_00That's fair. That's fair. Uh not some people like don't know like how to nav navigate being around an alpha male. So highball glass again. I have no idea, but that's what I tell myself. So uh I just prefer to drink it out of that. But I like to have uh a couple glasses because at some point I'm gonna want to just toss one because I've drank out of it so many times and rinsed it so many times. Like this time for a new glass. And don't expect a host to lay out multiple glasses for you.
SPEAKER_02Unless you're at Arya's and you get all the glasses, you just gotta go to the front desk.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just they'll get you one. Right? Like, so if you go to I guess that's a good point, like that private bottle share. Like, I don't like be be a good guest, right? Like, don't don't make more work for your host. That'd be that'd be my last do.
SPEAKER_02Don't make that's a lot of something people should remember it Wednesday night at Arya's for fate for uh I I I would agree.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you like we're a guest there. Like we're a guest. Don't kick him in the face. Yep. Yep. Try to stay away from passing away. I'm kind of anti-violence. I'm kinda anti-violence.
SPEAKER_02Anti-violence. Yeah. Uh, what's another do for me? You did all three of yourself. Yeah. Uh that's a tough. Right. Yep. Like I don't uh since we thought of this off the off the cus, a do, I always, I mean, I always bring extras, bring a lot more than I should. And I'm always I give a lot of things away.
SPEAKER_00You do, you do give a lot of your things away.
SPEAKER_02I love this, I'm like, take it. Yeah, which is and people appreciate that.
SPEAKER_00But I I know that who you are as a person, like when you enjoy something and somebody else enjoys it and you do pass it on, that that does something for you as well.
SPEAKER_02Well, most of the time I don't enjoy it as much as I enjoy it, so I'm willing to hand it off and exactly.
SPEAKER_00But that speaks more to your character because not everyone rolls like that, right? In this competitive, like top dollar, I gotta make my money, like, etc. etc. Like that goes a long way to people. And I I mean I've given bottles away, and I to me I enjoy it. Like, if you're gonna enjoy this, have at it, right? Because I do believe that'll come back to you. I do believe that'll like some karma. I don't know. I'm waiting on mine.
SPEAKER_02This last year has been real, real anti-karma.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yep. Yep, yep, yep. I hear you. How about your don'ts?
SPEAKER_02Uh don't bring hot garbage bottles. Don't bring bottles that you can find on every shelf.
SPEAKER_00Or that you just want to get rid of.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or you just want to get rid of.
SPEAKER_00Like, don't, yeah, because that it's one thing to say, like, hey, this isn't my thing, and I bought it, like you might like it, right? But like just to pull out all of those bottles from your bottom shelf and be like, alright, I can take the bottle share, I'm gonna drink everybody's good bottles and bring my uh my bottoms.
SPEAKER_02I mean, in in rolling into my last uh do, uh, when I give things away, it's not because I don't like it generally, it's just because I don't enjoy it as much as somebody else does. Correct. So if somebody comes to me and is like, this is freaking amazing. I'm like, I like it, but it's not so fantastic.
SPEAKER_00I like the I get what you're saying. A couple bottles I've given away um of peerless like single barrels, uh, it's usually been to individuals that haven't had one before, and it's usually a f uh a bottle that I'm not in love with. And so it'd say, hey, you you should have one on your shelf. Here you go. Like just because I think I think that's fun, right? And that kind of makes their day.
SPEAKER_02And somebody came over here once and loved the Blound Brothers 95-5 rye pick.
SPEAKER_00I bet they did, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they were like, This is the best rye I've ever had. I was like, I thought it was alright. Right. Take it with you. All right, I was I I think I sold it to them. Sure. But I paid$150 for it. I think I sold it to them for$50. Right. Three quarters of the way for it. Correct. Correct. Just because they loved it so much.
SPEAKER_00They made that guy's day.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh my first don't would be don't overpour. Right? Because I I I kind of approach it like And we're all guilty of that at some point. All guilty of it at some point. Like even on accident or like because I I do my thing is you know with the bottles you're drinking, right? Like when you walk up to and let I always try to envision like that the whoever's bottle it is, they paid top dollar for it, secondary. So I don't I want to be respectful of their time and their money, right? Because I know they've taken the effort and energy, whether it's financially or building a relationship with a liquor store.
SPEAKER_02Did you see it? You missed it. I tried to somebody lost$100 on that drop.
SPEAKER_00I think it's more than$100 that it loses. If you're betting on this, you're really going in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're a degenerate gambler.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, because I think um I like to be respectful of what others have going on, right? So if you pull out like a hazmat Coy Hill, I'm not going up and pouring an ounce and a half. I'm gonna take enough that I can get a decent sip on it, and then I'm good. Because I because I value like maybe it's my uh my Midwest guilt. Maybe. Right? But I'm not gonna Texas upbringing. Yeah, like I want to be a gentleman. I want to be respectful. I want like because I know how hard those bottles are to obtain, whether you buy them or whether you build a relationship with a store. Those are not easy to come by, however you get it.
SPEAKER_02There's a place in Nashville called the House of Bourbon. Uh it's a members club. The dude who runs it named JB, he calls it uh House of Bourbon pour. It's a quarter ounce pour. And he does it every time. Almost on cue. I've never seen somebody be able to pour a quarter ounce out of a bottle like that. That's wild. It's like he turns the bottle, quarter ounce. Because it's like a it's basically like a museum of bourbon that you can actually drink from.
SPEAKER_00I would say that is really cool. Like it's a crazy because you when you especially when you like you get to a bar and like let's say they're pulling out those dusties and they're old and something like that, those are not they're once they're gone, they're gone, right? So I necessarily don't want a two-ounce pour of it. Would I enjoy a two-ounce pour, yes. But like, even financially, I'm like, man, two ounces of this. I mean, like, maybe I'm not eating lunch today. Maybe I'm eating mac and cheese, which I would do, but that quarter ounce gives me exactly what I want from it, so I can walk away knowing that like what it tastes like and what it's all about. And to me, that's what I take satisfaction in. You got another don't?
SPEAKER_02Rex is fully passed out.
SPEAKER_00Rex is his tired boy. Tired boy. He had he had he had his uh the boys are over early, warm out, so he's he's doing well.
SPEAKER_02Got a little bit of excitement. Uh my next don't is don't take your glass to the bathroom.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. Leave your glass on the table. We've seen this a lot. Yes. Interesting.
SPEAKER_02That's why they stopped giving out glasses apparently at Arya's.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_02In the bathroom. And then leaving them.
SPEAKER_00I hadn't heard that. Yeah, I'd never I don't know if I've ever taken a glass in the bathroom.
SPEAKER_02Interesting. Only when you were trying to trade out your pee?
SPEAKER_00Maybe. P tests. Not recently. Um I'm trying to hear another don't. Another don't. This don't is probably gonna be something else I do.
SPEAKER_02Because I o I've been known to overpour myself on occasion. Although I do know my my limits pretty well.
SPEAKER_00For sure.
SPEAKER_02I don't get crazy drunk.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah. Well, I think that's the most obvious one, right? Like don't get trashed. That's that is the number one. Like control yourself, be an adult. Yes. Right? It's not a 17-year-old, you know, we're not that party.
SPEAKER_02It's not a uh a competition that you could get the drunkest and still stay standing.
SPEAKER_00Correct. Uh that that I think is the biggest one, right? Um I would say don't be do not be the play caller. And what I mean by that is do not be the guy that stands in front of the bottles and wants to educate every person that walks up. Oh, what do you like? And what do you most guys there are have or most individuals, because we do have a number of women that join us. Um most human beings. Correct. Most human beings know what they want to drink when they go up there, or know about what they're looking for. So just get out of the way and let them do their thing. If someone has questions, they'll ask. That's always my thing. It's like I don't want to tell anyone what to drink. Now, if somebody asks me, I'll be like, oh, this is what I'm having, and I've had this, right? Because it there's gonna be all all levels at a bottle share, right? There's gonna be guys that have been buying bottles for 25, 30 years, and there's gonna be the guy that's been six months in and he's just figuring it out.
SPEAKER_02So you almost named me when you said the guy who sits in front of the bottles, because I a lot of times I'll just sit at the bar and drink.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Uh, but then you went on and said people that give you ideas for with because I don't do that.
SPEAKER_00Right, exactly, because that come that to me that becomes obnoxious. Yes. And I think it rubs people the wrong way because now it's like, oh, you're the genius, you're the the grand poopah of the.
SPEAKER_02And even working in liquor stores as a as my job, it's like I see people standing in the aisle looking around.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02And I say nothing unless somebody asks me. Like somebody pulled up a Jack Daniels or Jim Beam uh 50 ml last week sweet whiskey. I was like, that's best sweet as you can get.
SPEAKER_00But that to me it's more about having those conversations while you have a pour about like what are you trying, what do you like, and like that's like that is the fun part. Now, what kills me on top of that, and it's I guess it's kind of a don't, but like uh don't be clickish, right? Like be willing to talk to anyone in the room, regardless of their entry level or they've been doing it for a while, because like you may learn something. That's what I I kind of look at it. I may learn something. Uh that's kind of how I learned about Sazurik foolproof. I'm not a big raw guy, and suggested to me, and I I like that bottle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I'm a little clickish if I don't like you.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I think that's fair for everyone, right? Like, I don't expect anyone to just, oh, I don't like I'm not a big fan of this person. I'm gonna sit with them for multiple tours.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, but like it's like to sit on the other side of the room, like, I'm good.
SPEAKER_00Let them keep their space, and if you and if that's agreed upon, you know what I mean? Like if that's a kind of like unwritten rule, it is what it is.
SPEAKER_02But I mean call you a bitch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that that that'll do it. I try I guess I try to be welcoming to those individuals that are new. Yeah. I think that's the biggest thing, right? Like you know, if I if I know I have a sour relationship with somebody, sour is sour, and we just keep it moving, and I just try to be a gentleman and keep going.
SPEAKER_02Hopefully.
SPEAKER_00Right?
SPEAKER_02Uh easier said than done. Sometimes. Sometimes force upon you.
SPEAKER_00Take the high road, right? Take the high road. It's a it's hard. Right.
SPEAKER_02I agree.
SPEAKER_00I agree.
SPEAKER_02Uh don't. Uh don't mix.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Because we had that at the Arya's once. Tell me more. Somebody came in and mixed uh Weller, a Weller, somebody brought a Weller 107.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I want to say it was one of Hazmat's friends.
SPEAKER_00They were just doing a blend.
SPEAKER_02They came in and mixed, no, mixed it with soda.
SPEAKER_00That's not where I thought this was going. I thought they were like, you meant like they're just mixing pores at the bar.
SPEAKER_02Nope. Made a mixed drink outside. And it wasn't their bottle? 107.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's not that's definitely was not her bottle.
SPEAKER_02It was a lady.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so that that that's a whole nother thing. Like, because I've seen it don't bring ladies? Well, here's because I've seen it both ways. I've seen women bring uh a male companion that didn't really want to be there. Male companion. I don't know what else. I don't know. Padre. Compadre. Okay. Uh that didn't really want to be there, right? Um, so my thing is that's like another good point is make accommodations for those that come with you. That maybe that's not their thing. So maybe you pack a couple seltzers for your girl because she's with you, or maybe you pack a couple beers because your guy's coming with you just to be social.
SPEAKER_02I mean, Jimmy um has made his girlfriend mix drinks on the bar before. That's fine. They've got stuff to make mixed drinks. Correct. Correct. And that just don't make it out of a well or 107.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's I'm not with that. I'm not with that. See, I thought you were trying to do like that like the poor man's papy thing. Like you mix it on 107. I can't even remember what the actual mix is.
SPEAKER_02I've seen people do that. I mean, I've I've mistakenly done that before when I still had a little bit left in. I actually poured a little extra in there. I almost did that at your house last time, but that's not myself.
SPEAKER_00Uh speaking of which, what was your favorite pour from that bottle share? Because that was a pretty good one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Jake came through, Derek, Rob all had solid bottles. You you brought some bangers. Like to me, it was the new Jack 12.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was.
SPEAKER_00I thought that was the best pour I had that evening. Yeah. You know what's nice? Yeah, I need some more of those myself. They brought the proof down to 107.
SPEAKER_02You got enough.
SPEAKER_00That is milk right there, baby. That is that Jack age statement years. I need I do need a batch 214. Like, good lord. I don't even know if they're in Wisconsin at this point. Uh they are, but they're all gone.
SPEAKER_02Oh, what was um that brown format, the uh Kentucky surprised me. Because I'd heard so many terrible things about it.
SPEAKER_00It was better than you thought.
SPEAKER_02I still wouldn't buy it.
SPEAKER_00For 300, right? 350, right?
SPEAKER_02For me, it would be a bar.
SPEAKER_00Right. Or a I just wanted a little nip of that. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It was good.
SPEAKER_00Correct.
SPEAKER_02Really good.
SPEAKER_00I would drink it.
SPEAKER_02Wasn't worth 350. But I was surprised at how good it was because I heard so much shit.
SPEAKER_00It's been so negative, right? It's been because everyone's like, it's not a King of Kentucky mash bill, blah, blah, blah, small batch.
SPEAKER_02It's I'd like to try them all three together.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02And see. How it is, but I'm gonna guarantee you that I won't think it's worth$300, regardless. It could be the best fucking win.
SPEAKER_00There are very few bottles I drink and be like, I'd pay$300 for this.
SPEAKER_02Almost none?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02There's probably been five. Like the original Smooth Ambler, yeah, mythical. I would drink that. I would pay$300 for another bottle of that. I would pay$300 for probably a stag that I knew was good.
SPEAKER_00A year that you knew it was good. But you have the knowledge that you know what it is. I've sampled it, like that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_02If I had that already and tried it, I'd like a 16, 2016.
SPEAKER_00So are you a stag or a uh LaRue guy?
SPEAKER_02But turn depends on the year.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I've been both.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02I prefer I think stag's more consistent.
SPEAKER_00I would agree.
SPEAKER_02Uh I would agree with that. Be outstanding, but I don't think it's outstanding.
SPEAKER_00It's either home run or base hit to me. Yeah. Like well, like WLW's either a home run or base hit.
SPEAKER_02It's either a or smash.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Yep. For sure. For sure. But I but I think um bottle shares are are growing and like you've seen it more often. I think people are going less and less to bars.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right? Because of various reasons, especially in the mock area, safety, Ubering, all that stuff. And the cost.
SPEAKER_02I never really I didn't until last year when I started going to the Wednesday night Aryas thing. Yeah. Realize that there was like a weekly bottle share situation. Like when I had a bottle share, it was a mythical bottle share. It was like once a year, twice a year. We have like 30 people show up. Sure. We bring out bangers and just have fun. We did that at uh uh the place on North Avenue that used to be I can't remember what it is. It's Waddle In now. Oh, okay. But it was something else. Growlers.
SPEAKER_00We need we need to get a mythical share going.
SPEAKER_02Yeah?
SPEAKER_00I think I think there's enough individuals and uh I'm all for like an all-MGP share of older age statements. Like that'd be funny.
SPEAKER_02Uh Amon brought Brooke Hills and left them. So I had Brooke Hills here. Because he knew I wasn't the Brook Hill people were like, make sure Chad gets an opportunity to buy these, and Amon's like Chad is not gonna buy these. So he had supporters out of it, and then he left him with me.
SPEAKER_00He's a kind man. Yes. And what'd you think of the Brooke Hills? Not worth it. Not spectacular. Because what what's the bottle like that run right now?
SPEAKER_02Uh I think they're generally speaking 300, 350.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, north of three, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for something that they put out with Brookhill label on it. And they're mostly nine, 10-year-old whiskies.
SPEAKER_00Mostly MGP?
SPEAKER_02They're all over the place. Okay. It's just whatever they think is the best of the best. Just like we were looking at uh uh Riv Revel Rivalries. Rivelries? Right.
SPEAKER_00You got me.
SPEAKER_02T uh T8KE, the J Web Reveries.
SPEAKER_00Reveries, that$1,200 bottle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah,$1199.99. Yeah, how old was that thing? What was the I think it was 19 years old. And if I had to guess, I'd say it was a Barton 18 that aged to 19.
SPEAKER_00$1,200.
SPEAKER_02Like ours might be ours might be$19 by the time we bottle it.
SPEAKER_00Right. I was just thinking the same thing. It's funny. And are you charging$1,200? No. Oh, you're not? Oh. It won't be based on how many bottles are correct. 100%, right? So I mean But it won't be$1,200.
SPEAKER_02If you get 30 bottles out of it, and it won't be$1,200. Right. Correct. It's not going to be$1200 regardless. I would tell them to keep it at that point. Exactly. But that's ridiculous. His own fan page for this. And he and I I I get it. You're running a business. You've got to do something. You've got you you called it a unicorn or a grail. Maybe it is.
SPEAKER_00And maybe he sits on them, and that's you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02$1,200 is ridiculous for one bottle of whiskey. And then people he's like, Oh, I'm so happy that I get to offer these bottles for$80 apiece or$70 apiece that are seven-year-old whiskeys. And I was like, you should offer them for that much.
SPEAKER_00Right, that's about where right.
SPEAKER_02You should offer them for less. Because I know what the barrels cost. Correct. And before I knew I had all the back-end knowledge, it was like eh, it is what it is. Right. Now that I have all the back-end knowledge and know what barrels cost, I'm like, what the fuck are you doing? What are you doing?
SPEAKER_00Where's your cost coming?
SPEAKER_02Like that's why I don't deal with some of these NDPs anymore because I know what their cost is. Correct. I know that they're fucking you.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah,$1,200 is asinine.
SPEAKER_02I don't care what it is. Cost, your price for a barrel, a bottle of whiskey should not be$1,200. I'd put water in my Barton 18 and get more bottles out of it before I charge$1,200 for it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I would agree.
SPEAKER_02I think that the You can probably proof it down five, six, seven proof, get an extra ten bottle of it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, when I saw that$1,200, I was like, so that okay, so like let's say we go to a bottle share, that's on the bar.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Are you drinking it? Of course. Right. I'm gonna try it. But I'm of course I'm gonna try it. But a quarter ounce pour. Like I like because I don't want a lot of it.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm gonna do a full two-ounce pour. You're like savage. Savage. I don't do that.
SPEAKER_00Savage.
SPEAKER_02No, I I guess it would depend on the proof. I don't remember what the proof was.
SPEAKER_00I would have to know whose bottle it is.
SPEAKER_02Proof is is my size pour is very dependent on proof a lot of times.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02If it's like a hazmat, I go low pro pore. Yeah, I don't want to get wild.
SPEAKER_00It's not a sprint.
SPEAKER_02So if it's but if it's like a old granddaddy, I'll pour him. Yeah, yeah. Because it's 90 proof or 100 proof.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm with you on that.
SPEAKER_02Um my dog's trying to eat my hand.
SPEAKER_00I guess one of my don'ts will be don't be a snob. Don't be a snob. Right? Like, oh, I don't drink that.
SPEAKER_02Put it up his nose.
SPEAKER_00Nothing, nothing. See what his nose sounds like. Uh oh. Poor dog.
SPEAKER_02Alright, we're at 27 minutes. Perfect. You got anything to say at closing? No, just don't be a dick and be nice to the bottle share.
SPEAKER_00Be nice. Be nice to the people. Don't record videos. Uh depending.
SPEAKER_02All bottle shares. We're all for consent. Do it like two or three. All for consent. Do it like two or three videos and be done. Yeah, then be the whole share. Not the whole share. Not the whole share. Well, until next time, enjoy your pours and enjoy your family. All right.
