In this episode of Business 1st Responders, host Suzanne Johns interviews Robin Herbert of Decor and You, an interior design business. She started the business seven years ago to dovetail with an existing home improvement company she has with her husband. Suzanne is currently rebranding her business to be named Dynamic Interiors to have synergy with their other business, Plumbing Dynamics.
Suzanne specializes in large remodel projects, particularly when someone buys a home. She has many resources to choose from and is selective of the vendors that she works with and recommends to her customers. Suzanne manages the projects for the clients and assists them in their selections of finishes on flooring, cabinets, and more.
Suzanne also gives staging advice or suggestions of updates for those selling their home. She can serve as an objective third eye so that it preserves the integrity of the relationship between the realtor and the homeowner. Often the seller is more receptive to a third-party suggestion rather than that of the realtor.
Suzanne says her best client is someone who is looking to make changes in their home and she says she thinks a house should evolve as we evolve. People want their home to represent themselves and what they value. This is standard at every earning level. She likes to walk people through the process of what their home represents to them and their values.
