A single quarter on an arcade cabinet used to mean something. It meant you were next, you were staying, and you were about to prove it in front of everybody. We chase that feeling from the jump, starting with a Mortal Kombat movie check-in and sliding straight into a real debate about the best fighting games of all time: Street Fighter, Tekken, classic combos, and why some games got “worse” once the super strings took over. If you love retro gaming, arcade nostalgia, and the culture around classic video games, this one turns into a time machine fast.

From there we zoom out into the whole era: Pac-Man at the laundromat, Donkey Kong patterns, Tetris obsession, Contra codes, and the wild speed run of consoles from Atari and Intellivision to Nintendo, Sega Genesis, PlayStation, Dreamcast, and Xbox. We also get into why gaming felt more social back then and why today’s online party chat still isn’t the same as a room full of people waiting their turn with quarters in hand.

And because we can’t stay in one lane, we pivot into sports talk and the way the NFL schedule release can swallow an entire night. Then it gets real: pickup basketball, old heads versus young legs, clock management, ball movement, and the one athletic ability we’d keep forever as we age. We close with Netflix recommendations, guilty-pleasure scripted drama, and a quick run through movies we’re ready to see next.
If you enjoyed the laughs and the nostalgia, subscribe, share this with a friend who lived at the arcade, and leave us a review. What game or player takes you right back?

Welcome And Quick Check-In

SPEAKER_08

Let's go.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, here we go. Uh oh. We are here for another week. We was oh, yeah, we was here last week. Everybody can hear. Yes, sir. No, uh we gotta we're gonna start calling Joe Emerald. Emerald the chef. Emerald, yeah. We're gonna start calling him Emerald Joe. No Alabama Emerald Joe today. Uh as he shows up late, who knows? He probably won't be here. Anyway, as the introduction said, welcome to the Nobody's Talking podcast. This is your boy Bosco.

SPEAKER_04

To my left, you know who it is, it's Rod.

SPEAKER_08

And to my left, Superman is in the building.

SPEAKER_10

Please. Yeah, yeah.

Mortal Kombat And Fighting Game Legends

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, buddy. Just the tree of us today.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. The trio. Hey. I got a Netflix recommendation. Uh-oh. Uh wait, did I go to the movies? Oh.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Wait, did I say I w I went to I said, did I say I saw Mortal Kombat?

SPEAKER_03

You didn't say.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Okay. Because I normally go after the show. Okay. But I went out before. I went like that Thursday night. I was like, oh, I want to see that. Yeah, I'm seeing it tomorrow. So oh Mortal Kombat? Yeah. Yeah. But uh I'm trying to think. Oh, I know it's a movie. Mortal Kombat. It's a couple uh yeah, it reminded me of the video game.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, I got a question. So since we're talking about video games, what's your favorite fighting versus game of all time? Street Fighter. Street Fighter? Karate Champ. Karate.

SPEAKER_07

That was Chun Lee. I'm an 80s baby. Fuck everybody up with Chun Lee. Karate K. My lightning, my thunder kick. Oh, on Street Fighters.

SPEAKER_05

You know, that's they're coming out with a movie too, right? Yeah, yeah. Uh remember Karate Champ was just the two. One dude had on the red suit. Oh, yeah. And the other dude had on the white suit.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

That was like one of the first generation.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. Fight movies. It was probably I mean fight uh games. It was probably choppy as hell, but I remember like karate. You know, I'm about to find out. Who in the hell who made karate champ?

SPEAKER_04

I would say Street Fighter is probably the best one of all time.

SPEAKER_07

I know Mortal Kombat when it came out, because you know everybody loved them.

SPEAKER_04

Mortal Kombat came out, everybody was.

SPEAKER_07

Then they started going super combos and all that stuff, and that's just messed it all up. That's what I think. You think with the super combos? The unbreakable condo combos where you get like a 32-punch combo, kick, kick combo off, and then you kill the person. Yeah. All you do is miss one block and you messed up the mess you up.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because Mortal Kombat did that, right? Yeah, Mortal Kombat did that. I think it was Mortal Kombat 2. Mortal Kombat 1 was. Not one. Not one. But like Mortal Kombat, the like the two or three or something like that.

SPEAKER_07

But I used to get them all as they came out, and then they just started getting worse and worse. And I was just like, man.

SPEAKER_04

If I put them in order of hierarchy, I would say Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat. You remember Tekken?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, yeah. You can't forget about Tekken. Tekken was good. Tekken was real good. Tekken was good. Yeah, you can't forget about Tekken.

SPEAKER_04

Tekken was Tekken came out on PlayStation, right?

SPEAKER_05

But what about uh what about uh forgot about Tekken? Fight night. So boxing.

SPEAKER_04

So that's boxing. Yeah. Did you say Riley? Could you say fighting game? Yeah, fight night was good. Fight night, but I'm trying to think what else.

SPEAKER_07

Um Mike Tyson's punch out.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, hey. Yeah, but I don't know. You you couldn't play one first one, though. You couldn't play each other. Still ain't made no difference.

SPEAKER_07

But it was still fighting out.

SPEAKER_04

I'm talking about work. You put a quarter up. You put a quarter up. All right, I got next.

SPEAKER_08

Right. You know, hey.

SPEAKER_05

Well, you can just say punch out. Because it wasn't called Mike Tyson's Punch Out. But it was still called Punch Out. But within they just bought it to Bro, we would be lined up at the arcade for hours just wanting to play.

Quarters On The Cabinet Arcade Culture

SPEAKER_04

You always had that one dude that knew every single damn combo. He just whooping everybody's ass. Man, let me put my quarterback up here. I'm gonna get your ass next time. That was the worst. Man. But yeah, you had the the guy that knew Street Fighter, knew every single move. You had the guy that knew um Mortal Kombat.

SPEAKER_07

If I hit the lottery, I would definitely have arcade room. That would be my man K. My arcade room. That's our arcade room. Where I would have each, I would have the real arcade games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Astro, Center Play, Cynped, Center Pede, Pac-Man, Joust, Pac-Man.

SPEAKER_05

Remember Joust? Space Invaders, man. I have it all. Oh, Space Invaders was good. Yeah, that was the shit. What is it? Galaga? Galaxy. Galaxia. Yeah. Galaxia.

SPEAKER_04

Galaxia, that's what it was. That's what man. Those were the days, though, man. Yes, sir. Those are the days. We would just take the bus to the mall. Just to go to the arcade.

SPEAKER_05

We had a whole like five. I had$5 worth of quarters. For real. It was my lunch money.

SPEAKER_07

See, we used to play for uh, we would play uh uh, what was that? Blackjack. We played blackjack for lunch money. Oh yeah? And then as we when it got into college, I mean not college, but high school, we was riding a bus, we'd be in the back of the bus playing poker for lunch money. Buy card, you only get firecard, what they call it? Is it Texas Holding? Where you get two draw, you get one draw, like you throw two cards away if you fought up or something like that. That's what it would go.

SPEAKER_04

So I mean they're firecard draws would be a card. Okay. So yeah, so you they would you would draw five cards, but you can only throw two away. So yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Man, you'd be taking all them cords, man. You'd be like, man, I'm going to arcade. Woo, look what I got, dog. Pops jingling.

SPEAKER_04

What did we use to play for money? Everybody pencil fought.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

God. Man. Hold on, bro.

SPEAKER_08

Hey, you better be still rotate it.

SPEAKER_04

You'd rotate it so you get that perfect spot. Hold on. Hold on. You always had the one kid that cheated. He would squeeze his eraser. All right. You know, the metal part of the eraser. I used to hate that, dog. Let me see. We we would play quarters closest to the wall. Closest to the wall. I'm trying to think what else would we play for money.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, we was all in the car game, see?

SPEAKER_04

Car games, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Because my mom, we had moved.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_07

We had moved to the white side of town.

SPEAKER_04

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_07

So we was moving on up. So everybody on the bus, I'm only black dude on there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Man, they was teaching me how to play poker and blackjack. And I was like, I don't know these guys. You know me. I'm talking about tonk, spades. Oh, yeah. They were like, well, no, we don't play that. I was like, what you mean you don't play that?

SPEAKER_04

Let's play hearts.

SPEAKER_07

It's like war. Let's play war for quarters. Like, no, man, that takes too long. Huh?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, war. That lasted forever.

SPEAKER_07

Yep. So yeah, that's how I learned, man. I swear to God, at the back of the bus, I was telling people, I didn't know how to play that shit. I started playing with them white boys.

SPEAKER_08

They do it. Put your corner up, Steve.

SPEAKER_04

Man. That's funny. See, nowadays you go to the like, like when I take my boys to the, you know, when they was smaller, take them like Dave and Busters or something like that. Right. It's just not the same, man. Because everything, well, one, you get it costs like$2 to play.

SPEAKER_07

I know, man. You can't just play for the quarter no more.

SPEAKER_04

Hell nah, man. Like, you gotta buy 20 tickets, one game cost four tickets. I'm like, and and then twitch, and a ticket costs a dollar. Man, they got me up on that, man. That's so that's so.

Laundromat Classics And Home Favorites

SPEAKER_07

They had those game cards you can put$50 on, man. You play like 10 games and it's gone. It's gone. I'd be like, what happened?

SPEAKER_05

I remember when uh me and my pop used to go to the laundromat on Saturday morning. Yeah. And then we used to play uh Pac-Man.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

It was the I actually I think it might have been Miss Pac-Man. And then the other game was uh Dig Doug. Dig Doug. Oh, and you know what? I remember I think they had three. The other one was Burger Time. Y'all cats don't remember Burger Time?

SPEAKER_04

Never played Burger Time either.

SPEAKER_05

You had to build a burger. I remember, but I just never played it because I was like, Like the bun, and then you go to the other side. That looked too complicated. How in the hell I well, we did start talking about uh fighting games. Fighting game. But man, but Donkey Kong. Oh, Donkey Kong.

SPEAKER_07

Man, I was the master at Donkey Kong. I had a Coleco vision. So, you know, it came with Donkey Kong. So I would go to the arcade game and show everybody how to play that game. Cause I'd be like, doot do, do, do, do, do you think that's a good one?

SPEAKER_05

Because the algorithm seemed like it was the same. Yes, yes. Once you figured out the algorithm, you could do it. It was almost the same for. So I remember on Pac-Man, I could probably only get to like two, like two or three screens. Okay. I was never ever like super, super great at the stand-up video games. But uh once they came to Nintendo and all that, oh, that was nice. But all the other ones.

unknown

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I'm trying to think. I love me some Tetris. Everybody played Tetris.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah. I really ain't I ain't playing with that.

SPEAKER_04

You didn't get a Tetris, man. I love Tetris. Trying to line them little blocks up. It was hard as hell. Oh, well, especially when they start moving fast. Yeah, yeah. But my favorite game. That's a good, that's a damn mind thinking game right there. I'm trying to think. My favorite game was Contra. Oh.

SPEAKER_08

I still remember the code. Everybody had that code, boy. What you got that code?

SPEAKER_04

Limited ammo. Yeah. Man, what you got that code? Is that upright, up, up? Left right, left right, up, down, up, up, down.

SPEAKER_07

A B, A, B, Select Start.

SPEAKER_04

That's funny. That's crazy, bro.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, that was the shit, man. We love Contra. Me and my brother was like, we gonna we're gonna finish this game.

SPEAKER_08

We're gonna finish this game. We got a limited ammo. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_07

What's that?

SPEAKER_05

Karate channel.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, yeah, I do remember that. I do remember that. Yes. Man.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I remember that shit on Lutari.

SPEAKER_04

Man. You got like three kicks. That was it. Yeah, you exactly.

SPEAKER_05

That's what it reminded me of. Like, like the karate kid. Man, that's crazy. And I listen, I remember. I'm gonna see if y'all know this. Hey, wait, hold on. That is hilarious.

SPEAKER_04

That's crazy. But this is amazing, like how technologies come though, man.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, tell me this. I'm about I'm gonna Google it, y'all. Okay. Who is that? Who was the referee?

SPEAKER_07

Howard Stern.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. Let me see. I don't know. Who you think who is the ref? Oh shit, I don't know. You know who we used to say it was?

SPEAKER_03

Who's that?

SPEAKER_05

Captain Lou Albano.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Remember? See, we got a couple, we got a few years on him.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but I know who he is. Yeah, yeah, I know who he is.

SPEAKER_05

But we used to be like, man, that's Captain Lou.

SPEAKER_03

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_05

And then look at that. Even today, he's still sitting up here fighting for a bitch.

SPEAKER_03

Damn game.

SPEAKER_05

I'm like, how is this in there? Dude, this is hilarious. Because I'm telling you right now, I don't even that goes to show you how focused you are with games. Because I don't even remember uh I don't even remember a woman. Yeah, on the on the karate champ. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Of course not.

SPEAKER_05

You just playing, yeah. You worried about fighting. Yeah, I'm still fighting.

SPEAKER_07

I remember the woman on Donkey Kong.

SPEAKER_05

No, I do remember the woman on that.

SPEAKER_07

Donkey Kong and then Donkey Kong Jr. When Donkey Kong Jr. came out, man, that was my next next favorite game.

SPEAKER_04

And Super Mario Kart. Or Mario Brothers.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I wasn't a big Mario Brothers fight. Oh, you didn't play Mario Brothers? Uh uh man. I remember stay up all night playing Mario Bros. We sneak, turn the TV on, turn a turn the volume down low. I remember put a blanket over it.

SPEAKER_04

I remember when Super Mario Bros. 3 came out. That was big when it came out. So that's when they was able to fly. They had to be a big thing. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I know I really ain't played that. Yeah, we used to, man, we used to put some hours on Super Mario 3. That was my that was my game.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But man. But it's crazy. Like, I mean, I think it really did teach hand-eye coordination when you think about it, right? Right. Because we would play, it's not like these kids nowadays. Yes, we would put in some time on these games. Don't get me wrong, we'd be sitting up there playing for hours, but we would still go outside and shoot hoops or you know, run around and stuff. Yep.

SPEAKER_05

Now it's like Yeah, for us, because you know, we did it in like in the winter time. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because you know, especially. That was not time when we were locked in. But that was way before the time where people can get on headphones and just talk. Talk shit. So now it's you just you don't have to go outside. It's like, hey bro, just get on the game. We can talk through the game. Yeah. You know, it's is I just think what we used to do.

SPEAKER_07

Because we used to all meet up at my cousin's house and we would all play the game. Like, I got next, here's the order. Oh, yeah. You win, you can keep the stick. If you lose, you gotta hand it over. Yeah, yep. Yep.

SPEAKER_04

As soon as you lose.

SPEAKER_07

We started playing double dribble. I used to love double dribble. NBA jam when they came out.

SPEAKER_05

I told you I had that spot on double dribble. When you could not miss.

SPEAKER_07

Everybody had them spots.

SPEAKER_04

When NBA jam came out at the arcade, that was another one people put their quarters up for. And then they get the, you know, they get on fire and then they get the big head.

SPEAKER_08

He's on the water.

SPEAKER_04

That game was fun.

SPEAKER_07

Yes. And it was only two on two. Two on two. That was it.

SPEAKER_04

Two on two. Used to make me mad because you know you'd be able to pass it mid air, and they'd be like, Alright. And the next thing you know is, man, that shit was crazy. But yeah, man, those were the good old days.

SPEAKER_05

No, hell yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Arcade.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, you know what? I think uh I see. I'm looking at this too. The karate kid did. It came out in 1984.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, really?

Console Evolution From Atari To Xbox

SPEAKER_05

The first one? And I think, yeah, that's based off. I think the karate karate champ. I think it was kind of based off of karate kid. Because I was wondering, it says uh, I said, who was the ref? Remember, I said the ref was uh Luke. Captain Lou Albano. They said the actual ref was played by uh Pat E. Johnson, whoever he is. Who is the actual ref. Interesting. Do y'all remember uh pitfall? Oh yeah, I'm sitting up here looking at him too. Pitfall. Yeah, he does, he does look like Yeah, that was on Intellivision. Pitfall. Yeah, Pitfall. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_07

I didn't have Intellivision.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, see I had Intellivision.

SPEAKER_07

I had Coleco Vision.

SPEAKER_05

I had a Commodore. See, that's why that uh Atari.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, my cousin had Atari. Yeah. We had Coleco, which is like the next generation of. And then after that, that's when we came out with uh Nintendo.

SPEAKER_04

Nintendo. Yeah. Man, that little 8-bit system. And I'm telling you, these kids will never know the struggle, dog. Never know the struggle, dog.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, if you out there listening in uh podcast land, go ahead and look up the first football games on Atari and in television. Hey, ColecoVision was I think a few more bits than in television. Was it? That was like a step up. I remember uh my boy Willie Ray, he had a ColecoVision. I was like, man. But I remember when they did release uh I think they did release Donkey Kong onto in television. And Pac-Man. Yeah. I was like, man. But especially like when when Nintendo came. Yeah, that's when I knew, because I went in television. From Intellivision, I went to um Nintendo. Okay. From Nintendo to Sega Genesis. Then from Sega Genesis to PlayStation 1. I think we went.

SPEAKER_04

So we had an Atari. Oh, we had a Commodore, and we had Atari.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah, I did have Atari. La Pong. Yeah. Yeah. That way back in the 70s.

SPEAKER_04

And then we went to Nintendo. Nintendo to Sega Genesis. Sega Genesis. We didn't we never got a PlayStation.

SPEAKER_05

Because what was the other one? It was PlayStation and what was the other one? Super Nintendo. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, Super Nintendo. That's right. Super Nintendo. Because I remember some cats in uh college having Super Nintendo.

SPEAKER_04

Super Nintendo came out before PlayStation. Right? Oh yeah, because it was already had Nintendo. Yep. And then PlayStation. We didn't get a PlayStation because our neighbors across the street had a PlayStation. Okay. Thought we would be over their house all the time. What y'all doing? Make me play the game. Can we play the game? I know their parents used to be bad as hell.

SPEAKER_05

Two little black kids could my brother be like I remember playing um uh oh on the PlayStation Game Day. Okay, yeah, yeah, I do remember that. Because I did play Madden, but then when you went to the PlayStation, I think the first football game that they had at the time, it was game day. Yeah. I don't so then I just ended up playing game day. And it's just so funny. Because you look at the games now.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_05

I know. Some people are like, I'm for real. I know. I've been asked, they sit down. Hey. You know, you know, because yeah, but if you just sit down like real quick, wait. Is this real? Oh no, that's game. Yeah, yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_04

I know. Okay, so then PlayStation. So Super Nintendo was before PlayStation. And then oh, Nintendo 64. Did you have Nintendo 64?

SPEAKER_07

I had them all.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think I had a Nintendo. I went from Nintendo to Sega Genesis. Sega Genesis. But everybody wanted to play what? GoldenEye on GoldenEye on 64, right? Oh, the uh Nintendo James Bond, yeah. Okay. That was the game on Nintendo 64.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, we was up to the all night on that one too.

SPEAKER_04

Then PlayStation 2, and then that's when Xbox came out. Oh no, there was Sega Dreamcast.

SPEAKER_07

Sega Dreamcast, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That didn't do too good, did it? It didn't do too good because it had too many. Because I remember me and my brother bought one together. We was in college and we bought one. And we went, we actually put a uh deposit there. Yeah, we put a deposit down, and I remember he actually went at midnight to pick it up.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, remember when when they used to release the game? Yeah, yeah. No, he would, he yeah, the game system at midnight or they'll do stuff early, like six in the morning.

SPEAKER_04

But because we had a deposit down, we was able to get it. So then Dreamcast had these little cartridges you put into the into the controller.

SPEAKER_07

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

So, you know, that that's what made it all the hype. Yeah. You had like a little screen on that. You're like, oh shit, you can pick your planes on the controller. But uh yeah, then and then Xbox. I think Xbox was after that. Yeah. And now it's just crazy.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, now the way these games look on either of them systems.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

It's just crazy. Our first one. And then Pong. I had the Pong with the little twisties where you just play table tennis. And my cousin got the Atari, so we always go over there. And then we got the ColecoVision. So that was the next best thing out. So then he started coming over to our house. And then after that, I got the Nintendo. That's when I got a paper out. So I started buying my own games then. And then when I went from Nintendo to Super Nintendo to Nintendo 64. Or was it Nintendo 64, then Super Nintendo? I don't know, but I had all the Nintendo.

SPEAKER_04

No, yeah, Super Nintendo and then 64 was that.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. And then 64, the the the graphics kept getting better and better with my Madden. Because every year Madden came out, I had to go get it. And then after Super Nintendo and they had PlayStation, my cousin got the PlayStation. So I went from Super Nintendo. To uh to Xbox. Okay. And then so I got all the Xbox stuff and he got all the PlayStation. PlayStation stuff. Yeah. So and then we'll go over to each other's house. And he's like, man, your controller too big. It's too clumsy, man. Blah, blah, blah. And I was like, yeah, whatever. Come over to my house. We're gonna play PlayStation. All right, I'm coming over to your house. So we go over his house and we play PlayStation. And then I would just I would milk the clock. I would just run the ball and milk the clock. So he couldn't score because all he would do is throw bombs. I milk the clock.

SPEAKER_08

He said, Steve, I finally figured it out, man. You doing clock management. That's how you keep winning.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, you know what I never understood? Like how you was just talking about clock management. I would sit up here and I would um, you know, I would do the uh like let the clock go down. Or, you know, and people would sit up here and get mad. Like, oh yeah, because we're gonna be like, I mean, what you doing?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. I just gotta act like a lot of people.

SPEAKER_04

They think you're slowing the game down.

SPEAKER_05

That's why.

SPEAKER_07

Just keep still looking. I just keep scrolling. I already know what play I'm doing, but I already keep strolling.

SPEAKER_05

We used to always play on the on the Sega Genesis. Yeah, I would go option right, option left, option right, option left, option right, dive right, dive left. All the way down the field. Option right, option left, option right.

SPEAKER_07

Audible. Option left. Audible, option right. And then he'll switch sides, he'd go to the other side, so I say audible again.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, hell yeah.

unknown

Man.

SPEAKER_05

Mess around, read that tackle, the tackle, and this was when they had the wishbone. Yeah. The tackle goes down, you pull it out and take off. If the tackle goes straight ahead, you go ahead and feed your fullback. Fullback, yep. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, dah. That's the shit.

SPEAKER_04

That wishbone formation, boy. Man, if you didn't have the defense to stop it, I know. Tear your ass up. I'll be like, oh. Because I mean, you have to read your keys, right? We're talking football right now, but yeah, you have to read your keys, but they be in the wishbone. You don't know what tailback is gonna get it, or the fullback.

SPEAKER_05

You just like you got, and then that's when they call it with like the the tailback, the halfback, and the fullback. Yep. You send up here, like, or they call it, oh, the split T. You know, like now they got all this like pistols, and I'm sitting up here like all these goddamn formations now is wild, boy.

SPEAKER_07

I used to always have a blitz for me. I mean I blitz audible for my defense. Because I'll be like, man, we clogging up every hole. Fuck that. I don't know who finna get the ball.

SPEAKER_06

Just hey, red bone, fire, fire, fire.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, see, that's what that's what you would do when um when they ran the wishbone. Yeah, you almost did it like white man can't jump. Oh yeah. Remember, the dude was like, no, I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go to my car. I'm gonna get my gun. He said, I'm gonna get my other gun. I'm gonna kill everybody's ass. They ran that wishbone. You just hit everybody. It's the quarterback, the foot, it just hit everybody. Tackle ball. Oh, he ain't got the ball? Okay, but we tackling somebody. Dog, that's now that is that.

SPEAKER_04

I mean crazy. Speaking of football, right? So, y'all noticed there was no basketball games on yesterday. You know why? Oh, because they did football skip.

SPEAKER_05

Isn't that crazy that the I have a question about Strong Cole? Did you watch the I didn't watch it? I didn't watch the schedule release. Oh. I was like, I did. Did you watch it? Yeah, I fell asleep on it. Oh, because I was wondering. I really wanted to know. Like, I love football. I was like, who in the hell is watching the schedule release? It's probably there's a possibility. I mean each team, maybe it's going through each team.

SPEAKER_04

You do what you do, but when they do analysis of each game, they play at everything.

SPEAKER_06

They have an easy schedule, but they're not gonna have any problem until week 13.

SPEAKER_05

I can't even watch the pregame shows. I just want to watch the games and that's it.

SPEAKER_07

I watch like Sports Center Highlights or something, but I wanted to take picture uh the Bears schedule, but damn, I wasn't I was half asleep because I was in that recliner. Yeah, I was in that massage chair and I was like, uh forget I see the uh damn Patrick morning.

SPEAKER_04

I guess all these teams do like a release video. Oh so I went and looked at the 49ers release video. Obviously, I'm a 49er fan, right? I'm like, this is pretty dope how they put like a whole thing together. So they're walking through a house, you know, showing like different posters with the schedule on it and stuff.

SPEAKER_05

It was pretty dope. Yeah, I heard like like little sizzle reels or something. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So but that's crazy how the NFL just dominates everything. They dominate everything.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, I just figured they did that because it wasn't no game on.

SPEAKER_04

NBA purposely didn't put games on last night because of the NFL.

SPEAKER_07

Nah, because each team, because the other teams are out. That's why. Well that's they had those. Oh, yeah. They had them scheduled, but they would, you know, they didn't go seven.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Oklahoma City and Uh.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, because there's no there's no way uh the NBA can, they can't especially with the band. Yeah. No, no, no. I'm just saying with uh, like you said, with them other teams being out. Oh yeah, that's the thing. Oh no, don't no, them games would have been the game would have been on.

SPEAKER_07

Like the Lakers would have been playing if they hadn't got swept.

SPEAKER_04

OKC and the Knicks is just sitting at home, just like y'all go ahead and beat each other up.

SPEAKER_07

They massaging their feet.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Like, let's go ahead and get but then at the same time. Hey, that rust. Oh, that's what I'm saying. There's gonna be a lot of rust because you sit in there and these guys are now battle tested.

SPEAKER_05

Them niggas look like us at LA Fitness. Don't they, man? It's crazy. You can't make nothing.

SPEAKER_04

Because this is gonna go seven. You think the other series is gonna go seven too?

SPEAKER_07

Which one? Oh, yeah. Oh, it's that's on tonight, right? Yeah, after this, if San Antonio San Antonio. Yeah, San Antonio. San Antonio win. But San Antonio's gonna win, though. I still say San Antonio.

SPEAKER_04

Man, that's crazy what a difference he made coming back to asking.

Who Goes First In An NBA Draft

SPEAKER_07

Man, you see that man was like, fuck yo, okay. I got something for you. I'm so glad I didn't get suspended now. Watch me score these 28 points.

SPEAKER_04

So if you had the draft right now out of the players in the NBA, who you taking? Number one.

SPEAKER_07

Number one?

SPEAKER_04

Let me see.

SPEAKER_07

I'm taking stuff number one. You still take a step? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You talk about like their uh right now. Like at their age, you know. Oh. Uh damn.

SPEAKER_07

Um they done.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, no, you know what? It might be uh, I like Anthony. No, it might it might be Victor one beyond. Yeah. So I'm taking Wimby.

SPEAKER_04

Because his complete skill set, bro.

SPEAKER_07

He can dribble. I can take a number one, but I still like Steph.

SPEAKER_04

Steph, yeah, no, Steph is great. Yeah, yeah. They were talking. Steph is dribble and shoot. Steph, oh though. He is gonna talk, man. But he said like that. Like, right.

SPEAKER_07

You're thinking like we're making a new team, like we're making an expansion team, right? So if we can take one player out of each other. Yeah, I'm taking. Well, you got to, man, because he's a difference maker.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

But then look, look at that. They're gonna win them arcade games.

SPEAKER_04

That's just how I look.

SPEAKER_06

But then oh, he's put them on skates.

SPEAKER_04

Oh I know, listen to Dan Patrick. Shout out to Dan Patrick. Happy birthday, by the way. Happy birthday, Dan Patrick.

SPEAKER_05

Um y'all know Dan Patrick's from Ohio. Oh, we know, we know. He went to uh um he went to Dayton. He went to Maryland. He went to Eastern Kentucky, actually. And then I think he transferred.

SPEAKER_04

But then um they were saying that um since Curr's coming back for two more years, Golden State should just build a super team of all old players. Of all the old players. You bring LeBron in, you bring KD in, you bring you bring um um what's his name from the Clippers? Um Kawhi. You still got Steph. Yeah, you keep Draymond. Bring Clay back. Yeah, bring Clay back and see how they do against these young kids, man.

SPEAKER_07

You don't need a center, though.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know who the center would be. I know. I'm trying to think. Well, you really don't need a center over there.

SPEAKER_07

But you need a big body, though.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you can bring Mbi to over.

SPEAKER_07

No, man, he's too old, man. Or Giannis. That's right. I don't like MB. Giannis. You can bring Giannis. Yeah, Giannis. Oh, he got a bringing body. No, because Mbi's gonna break down. He ain't gonna he only gonna play 63 games.

SPEAKER_04

Not even that. He might play.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, bring Gianni. Giannis want to win. Gianni is like, yeah, give me the fucking ball.

SPEAKER_04

Giannis has to play the big, but he's really a power forward. He's not really a center.

SPEAKER_07

Right.

SPEAKER_04

Right? So then he would have to play the big. But that's that would be crazy if they did that.

SPEAKER_07

Man, that wouldn't it? The super team. They call themselves the Dream Team Revamped.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think they'd be able to keep up with him, though. With them young. No. This young boys game.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think they'd be able to keep up with them. Yeah, they're too old, man.

SPEAKER_07

You see how fast them little dudes are now?

SPEAKER_05

It is a young boy's game.

SPEAKER_07

Niggas can skate. Real.

SPEAKER_05

I'd be like, God damn, them boys fast. Sitting up there out there running around with them little boys, just our little pickup game. I'm like, man, shit. Go ahead. And I'm still absolutely fleet of foot at my age. Jump everything.

SPEAKER_04

But I'm like, I'm like, go ahead and get to the hole. Still a little bit.

SPEAKER_05

You like, boy. But like KG was saying something, but these young dudes, they just they dribble the air out of them.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I know.

SPEAKER_05

I'm like, dude, I don't have I'm it's sad to watch, bro.

SPEAKER_04

Couple dribbles, go, couple just shooting the jump. I'd rather you just pull up and shoot a jumper than dribble. They don't play that game, though.

SPEAKER_07

Nah, that three dribble game, they don't play that. See, we grew up with that. Yeah. You get three dribbles, nigga. That's all you get. You can't dribble the ball 12 times. Yeah. Oh, now I'm a shit.

SPEAKER_04

Look, I know I'm not beating most people off the dribble no more. I I'm just not that that skilled anymore or quick or whatever, right? So I'm gonna give you a couple dribbles. I'm gonna pull up, or I'm gonna look for your Bosco in the corner. Knock it down. There you go. We're gonna have some ball movement. But now it's just I mean, just last week, think about it. The team we played, the young kids we played, right?

Pickup Basketball Old Heads Versus Youth

SPEAKER_05

See, they lost too. Yeah. I used to always think about that. We beat them in the game. Remember when we beat them the first game? When uh that's what I'm saying, they lost. Yeah, and they played us. When we would sit up here, and I'm uh 20, 21, 22. I'm like, I'm about to kill these old niggas. They think you know, you be like, man, I got winners.

SPEAKER_04

But it was funny because they had jumped out on us with like five to one or something.

SPEAKER_07

What are these old dudes doing?

SPEAKER_04

For real. We was like, okay.

SPEAKER_07

Just give me a minute, man. Take me a minute to warm up. You done scored twice, nigga. I ain't letting you score no more.

SPEAKER_04

But here it is, we're gonna move the ball and get the best shot. True. You know, but they and they they want to go one-on-one the entire time.

SPEAKER_05

And then and then it's so funny because if you score on them, they gotta score on you, man. They gotta score back on you. Like, I remember the first one game, the young boy scored on me like twice in a row. They thought, like, I was nigga, I don't care.

SPEAKER_04

I'm like, You should be scoring on me.

SPEAKER_05

I'm sitting up here, you score two, like two nice long jumpers. Yeah, they like, oh, let me get you back. Oh, we're just trying to win.

SPEAKER_04

But but here's the thing, we just biting our time, right? Because we're the old cats. They're gonna go one-on-one. They're gonna start missing. They're gonna get us a few times, but they're gonna start missing. We're gonna move the ball. Here, Steve, get your shot. He's wide open. Boom. Here's Shira, get your shot. He's wide open. Sharad, right back at you. Look at what you're doing. Exactly. Looking around like I'm gonna back. Oh. Splash. But then at the same time, it's it's we we move the ball, and the young kids just don't understand it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, they we don't care. Like, if you if you don't score one point, as long as you win, you're good. That's all that matters. It's all that matters. These cats like, uh, let me get my rocks off. Right? It's almost like the uh like the ball.

SPEAKER_08

They kept picking on that little dude.

SPEAKER_05

Like the ball? The ball is the girl, and like they running the train. Like they oh here, no, it's my turn. Oh, it's my turn. Oh heads, you just be like, here, you just passing here. Take it, take it, take it. That's the thing. I like and if you open, shoot it.

SPEAKER_04

And if I'm on the team, hey, just let me touch it. I'm gonna give it right back to you. Just let me feel it. Here, oh, okay. There you go. But nah, they just want to, yeah. I just sit there and watch. Yeah, they did. Take a picture. That's all I do. It's all good, though.

SPEAKER_07

I was like, they'll be back.

SPEAKER_04

He said, it's all good.

SPEAKER_07

Hey, I was wondering where they came from anyway. I think they was the ones that went up to Jed. Uh I mean went up to high school.

SPEAKER_05

Uh he said he said they don't go all the time. They don't go all the time. Oh, okay. So I don't even know if they if it was just Randall. It probably was. But I mean it was kind of cool because they you need you need you need a little a little bit a little different competition every once in a while. You know, you just need uh like that mixture. Yeah, yeah. Because y'all y'all old cats, I watch y'all run up and down the court, nigga. It ain't looking good. It ain't the same.

SPEAKER_07

It ain't the same, but only when I'm chasing you, Nika. I'm sitting up here like, damn.

SPEAKER_05

Do what I can do. We gotta get a little bit of youth in here. Do what I can at least uh, you know, like mix it up.

SPEAKER_07

We're looking like Nacho Nam point two, two point zero.

SPEAKER_04

Oh god, we ain't that bad. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Don't you disrespect us?

SPEAKER_07

I didn't see that. That shit was funny now. Man, that shit was so funny. Don't play with them on a Saturday. I was like, this is what y'all, man, this is what y'all working with? Oh hell no. I ain't be I won't be back here. We cool.

SPEAKER_04

You know what? Lose my number. Yeah, do we cool?

SPEAKER_05

Don't they uh they play on uh what? Saturday, Friday, Saturday.

SPEAKER_07

I get my one. Shit, they play almost every day. Monday. They might play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Yeah. So they play almost every day. Yeah, nah. I just don't I don't be following them like that. Oh, okay. I'm over here working out. I'm here. Nah, I can't do it. I'm working out, bro. And I finish my workout. Hey, you mean you're gonna complain? No, I mean, I got stuff to do. I'm I already got work to do. I'm cool with that.

SPEAKER_05

Nah, I'm good. I don't want to ruin y'all right. I give you I'll give you two days a week. I'll give you one. That's it. No, I'm saying, like, at the most, I'll give you two days a week.

SPEAKER_07

I give them one now. I'm like, man, I love it. I love just a lot of things. Oh no, not playing with them, just and then just one day a week, and then I play with y'all on Sunday, so I get two days a week, I get to play ball.

SPEAKER_05

I'm like, Yeah, see, that's what I'm saying. That's the that's the two days.

SPEAKER_07

But my Monday night league about to start back up, I'll be so happy. Man, I need that competition, bro. You like you like the competition? I like the competition.

SPEAKER_04

We gotta get back in the softball.

SPEAKER_07

I like to be giving them the business, especially these dudes talking shit in a chat, chat group, and Facebook and all that stuff, because they ain't seen us. Oh, yeah. And they're like, man, y'all the only good team that used to give us a run for our money. Now that y'all gone, man, we're running through these teams. Man, we ain't going nowhere. What you mean?

SPEAKER_04

We just all hiatus.

SPEAKER_07

We just taking a break. We taking a break for whooping y'all's ass. Steve, if you wouldn't hit them threes, ain't no way they would have won. Because, you know, they talk about my man E. Cause they can't, because you know, they can't stop E. Oh, yeah. E got that second gear still. Okay. So they can't stop him. And he's like, man, I feel so fast because these old fuckers. So they can't stop him. So they started trying to make a wall for him. And when they do that, they got me on the wing, they got David on the wing.

SPEAKER_09

Shook up, shook up, shook up, shook him. I was like, hey man, how did I get back open? Like, how did I get so open again? Shook him. I keep telling y'all, y'all can't leave me open.

SPEAKER_07

Man, we were trying to stop E. And then they said, E, did you score? E said, no, but I had seven assists. Did you count to? That's 21 points.

The One Athletic Skill To Keep

SPEAKER_04

So that brings up a question, right? So as we get older, you know, our body starts to break down a little bit. Except for Bosco. Everybody else's bottles body start to break down.

SPEAKER_05

No, my body breaks down.

SPEAKER_04

But if there was one ability that you couldn't lose, which one would it be? Like, just athletic wise, what what would what ability would you want to lose as you get older?

SPEAKER_07

Man, I still wish I had my hops. Hops? Jumping my hops. Jumping. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

I think that's what I was going to say too.

SPEAKER_08

My knees didn't break down. Oh man. I'd still be jumping out the gym side of the backboard.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I was going to say too. I was like, jumping. Jumping.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I love jumping. I love jumping. But then got that mental block. I was just talking to my brother about this because you know, once you get injured, you have a mental block that you had to get past. Because you don't want to, you don't want to hurt no more. You'd be like, oh man, I don't want to injure myself again. Or I don't want to hurt my knee again. Because that takes a long time for it to heal. So anytime you try to jump, it's like you're trying to, your body is holding itself back. It's holding itself back.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, but you gotta, it's it's funny because you gotta kind of learn how to shut it off. Like, okay, just kind of do things naturally.

SPEAKER_07

Right.

SPEAKER_04

But it's hard to once you have that. You gotta do it without thinking about it. It's like if I I injured myself jumping last time. Now, hold on, let me your mind be playing tricks on you, man. Rethink this, recalibrate this about him.

SPEAKER_07

That's real. Because man, when I heard my knee, I was like, man, I couldn't, I couldn't touch the net. But now I be going there, I get a rebound, they'd be like, dang, Steve, I didn't know you can still jump.

SPEAKER_08

I was like, shit, I didn't need to. Sometimes you every now and then I can get one.

SPEAKER_04

It's like sometimes you walk in the gym like, man, I used to be able to two steps and get that rim.

SPEAKER_08

No, I was like, Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Damn, can I even touch the net?

SPEAKER_08

We had that contest. Me, you, same. I can't do that shit.

SPEAKER_05

I'm looking at the rim like, damn it.

SPEAKER_04

That's a long way.

SPEAKER_05

That's your name is fine.

SPEAKER_08

Damn. Yeah. Oh yeah. Like, give me the grenade.

SPEAKER_04

Give me the song. Now I'm like, man, hold on. I got to I have to think about going up for a layup.

SPEAKER_08

And that's probably what you be blowing. I think we think I'm just gonna pull up right here.

SPEAKER_04

Take a jumper. That's crazy, though.

SPEAKER_05

That's crazy. But you know, it is what it is. And Father Time is undefeated. That's one thing that's undefeated.

SPEAKER_07

What was that movie? What was that movie? Uh with Queen Latifah in common when she was his personal trainer. Oh, just oh, just right? Just right. Yeah, that was it. Just right. Yeah. See? She was like, yeah, you gotta trust the process. We've we've done the work. You gotta trust it. Trust your knee. It's good. He's like, uh-uh. Uh-uh. I sure be thinking like that. Like, no, no. Wait, my knee ain't even got no pants. I ain't even got my sleeve on. Oh, hell yeah. Let's go.

SPEAKER_09

Man.

Running Reality Checks And Biking Instead

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, no, that is. That's at least you can still go out there and run up and down.

SPEAKER_04

And as long as I can. That's I'm gonna do it as long as I can. Get a little wind.

SPEAKER_07

I go get my mouth in, just run it. I was like, I might not be jumping out the gym, but hey, I'm at least gonna run.

SPEAKER_04

Get up the court a few times. Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_07

Hey man, who got Steve? Steve, you know you're a runner. I'm not a runner. I don't know what you're talking about. You always taking off. I was like, I don't I don't even realize it until I'm running. And then I look at my watch and be like, damn, nigga, you got 12,000 steps in three days.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_05

That's good. Yeah. Mess around, get two miles, three miles.

SPEAKER_07

Right. Four miles, five miles.

SPEAKER_05

Because there is no way I can just open up the front door and just start running through the neighborhood.

SPEAKER_07

Right. Exactly.

SPEAKER_04

You gotta give me a you gotta do something that's not the you're not thinking about it. I tried.

SPEAKER_05

Trying to get open. I remember leaving the front door. I think I made it. I made it to QT. I was just I because what I was gonna do, I was gonna go, I was gonna go to QT, 35th, down the backway. Yeah. I was gonna go around the loop.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Which ended up being 43rd and then just y'all know what I'm talking about. So like I said, I was front door, obviously, QT, 35th, through you know, Sandra Day O'Connor. Then the uh Stesson Hills loop, which goes to 43rd, back, back around the happy value, because remember 43rd and down, that's probably that's about like so that's probably would have been about like three, four miles. You know, you didn't hoof that.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Dude, so out the front door, QT, went in and QT, got a drink, and walked back to the crib.

SPEAKER_04

That slush should look real good right about that.

SPEAKER_05

And walk back to the crib.

SPEAKER_04

Mixing the batch of flavors.

SPEAKER_05

Yup, and walk and walk back to the crib.

SPEAKER_04

That's crazy. Hey, that's still a workout, though.

SPEAKER_05

That's probably at least a bow. Yeah, well, yeah, I ran probably like a hat because I ran from the house to

SPEAKER_07

QT and then it was in chill mode. Oh, I'm cool. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Then I got there. Man, I'm sitting up here like man, I ain't no distance runner. I can't do it. Yeah. I can sit up here and uh sprint, okay, but like I can walk.

SPEAKER_04

If I if I put my mind to it like the trail behind my house, I can walk. But yeah, running. I I used to when I first moved there, I I would run it every once in a while, try to jog it, but I can't do it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. Or walk, jog, just let me hit some sprints. Sprints, yeah. Walk, jog, sprint, walk. Okay. I'm good with that, but you seen a penny just to get the heart rate elevated, get the blood flow pumping. Yeah, a little quick walk. Yeah. Then ask I when I see, I saw uh this cat the other day just running down the street, and he he was gone. Actually, I think uh I might have been on like 7th Avenue.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

And it looked like he had been going to many. He had a nice little lather going. I was like, damn. Kudos to you, dog. For real. Kudos to you. I see it all the time. Because that would not be me.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I just can't run distance.

SPEAKER_07

It's been a long time. I was talking to uh a colleague at one. I don't even want to. And they were talking about having, you know, how take them like 20 minutes and about 30 seconds to get their runners high. Every time they go. And I was like, 20 minutes and 30 seconds? Shit. Remember the last time I done had a runner's high?

SPEAKER_04

Let me think about it.

SPEAKER_07

I was like, yeah, I said I can't, I couldn't even tell you. I have no idea. I don't run no more. I play basketball.

SPEAKER_04

This don't sound fun, just running.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, just jogging or just running for no reason. Don't sound fun at all. I don't even get high thinking about it.

SPEAKER_04

Like, I don't I don't look Kenyan, do I?

SPEAKER_07

Playing basketball, I get a run.

SPEAKER_04

But yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Let me get about nine points. Shoot, shoot. That's a shooter's high. Woo!

SPEAKER_05

It's going to be much. You start thinking about stuff. You be like, God lady.

SPEAKER_07

Why am I running?

SPEAKER_05

I gotta run back home. You'd be like, how far am I away? 1.5 miles. That's when you just send up here and be like, yeah, I think I'm gonna stop right here. That's what I said. When I got to that QT and I started going, I was like, man, I made, because you know you make a right to go around the rest of the loop. I made a left. And well, at least I did cut through the little uh little cul de sac and walked to whatever street like Hackamore or something. Then walked by the mailboxes and went back to the crib like at least I kind of made a little bit of a semi-block. I was like, dog, I told myself I was gonna do it.

SPEAKER_07

Now I was like, nah. I ought to pull the bike out, the bicycle. The bicycle. I can get on a bicycle. Yeah, I can do that.

SPEAKER_04

But at least that I mean, it's not as physically hard as running, right?

SPEAKER_07

Right. It's not hard on your joints. You ain't thinking about hurting yourself.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but you can coast on a bicycle. That's a good thing. Let me go ahead and push it hard enough. You know, I'm gonna coast for a few uh, you know, a little bit. A little half a mile. It's like okay.

SPEAKER_07

Hey, I'm so glad this is downhill.

Netflix Recommendations And Toxic TV Drama

SPEAKER_04

Right. Just sit there enjoying yourself. Exactly. Them uphills, you'd be like, damn. All right, let me let me let me get up this hill. Go back down the hill.

unknown

Oh man.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, did y'all change subjects real quick? Did y'all watch the roast? Kevin Hardwork? Yeah. Yeah, I didn't see it. You didn't watch it. Did you watch it? No, I don't want to watch it.

SPEAKER_07

I was flipping channels and I saw it and I was like, I was gonna go back to it and then I started watching something.

SPEAKER_04

I thought it was pretty good.

SPEAKER_05

I thought it was what I heard it was cool, but I I've never watched it.

SPEAKER_07

But it was Cat Williams, it was that's what I was so that's the thing. I was like, I gotta go back to that. I gotta go back to that. But I saw something on the I don't know what it was, but I heard when they said Regina Hall did good.

SPEAKER_05

Regina Hall did good and uh Adele Givens, yeah. Yeah, I'm boy.

SPEAKER_07

I was like, I'm sure you can watch it on YouTube or so.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, it's oh it's on Netflix on Netflix on Netflix, yeah. So yeah, you can watch it on Netflix. But when Cat Williams showed up, yeah, I was like, Because they were beefing, right? Right, but they squashed it, I guess.

SPEAKER_05

So that's only that's only what we see, man. Yeah, that's only what we don't you don't know what them uh hey let's sell these tickets.

SPEAKER_07

You know what I'm saying? Like we can do this shit. We can act like I eat your ass.

SPEAKER_05

Act like we beefing. Look how much money we're gonna make. Right? We're gonna laugh all the way to the back. Exactly. That's exactly what they're doing.

SPEAKER_04

That's 100% true. But yeah, it was pretty good though.

SPEAKER_05

I can't tell you that. Speaking of Netflix, I got a new show. Nemesis. It just started May 14th. Yeah, I guess whoever uh it said the creator of power. You know what? I did see the previews for that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Dog.50 created power. That's what I thought. He did. But the other person is probably maybe is a co-creator or something, I'm assuming. I don't, because it did say creator of power. But this is my week's recommendation. And y'all know I don't even watch TV shows. Man, it's eight episodes, about 44, 45 minutes. I can't wait because that's exactly what I'm watching tonight. Ever since yeah. I'm on episode two. I'm gonna put it on my watch list. Yeah, Netflix? It's on Netflix.

SPEAKER_07

That's good. I got Netflix.

SPEAKER_05

It's called Nemesis. You know, I only recommend stuff from Netflix. Shirada is the one, he's rich. He's the one that got cable and out of all the streaming, Apple Plus got the best shows.

SPEAKER_04

You think consistency. I used to have Apple. They got the best shows. How did I? I don't even remember how I had it. I mean, you can if you have an Apple phone, I know they were giving like subscriptions.

SPEAKER_05

I know I had it for a little bit, but then I was like, uh had like Apple. I had actual Who's your phone carrier?

SPEAKER_04

Verizon. Yeah, they might be able to give it to you. I think I get it for like three dollars a month through through T-Mobile.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. So yeah, man, I don't get nothing from Verizon. I need to call them tell them I'm gonna switch. Maybe they'll give me something like Disney or something.

SPEAKER_05

That's funny.

SPEAKER_04

I started watching the this last season of the boys. I think this is the last season of the boys. Oh no.

SPEAKER_05

Y'all be naming a lot. You see, it's been a minute. Like, obviously, I watched Avid Elementary. And remember, I used to watch SWAT.

SPEAKER_07

I'm a season behind now.

SPEAKER_05

But with SWAT, remember SWAT isn't on anymore. So now Nemesis, do a dude uh from Avid Elementary, the principal's boyfriend. I think uh I think young dude's name is uh Matthew, Matthew Law.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Uh that's one they they call him uh the younger Shamar Moore. They do they do resemble. They do kind of, yeah, you're right. But uh anyway, he's uh he's the um character in Nemesis. And oh I forget the dark skinned cat's name, but he was on one of those uh on one of them purge movies. Maybe the first purge, dark skinned black cat. I call I call him young Wesley Snipes. Yo I forget dude's name, but anyway. Oh added to the watch. Yeah, y'all know we don't fact check anyway, just watch Nemesis.

SPEAKER_04

I watched uh I started watching Four Mankind, which is on Apple Plus. And oh Citadel.

SPEAKER_05

That's on Peacock. Yeah, you do, yeah. You the real uh TV recommend person.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I don't watch a lot of TV, I just watch ESP. ESP and then whatever, ABC, like if the playoffs are.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like I'll see the when it's not football season shows. When it's not football season, I just start watching been watching these shows because oh, and then I go to WNBA.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah. So I go from NBA to WNBA to football.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, but when I saw that nemesis, yeah, I saw I got an email. I was like, oh, I ain't gonna lie, I saw black people. I was like, I'm watching it. Watching it.

SPEAKER_07

Hey, what was that? Then I put it on, I was like, oh, that's Black Beauty or some shit.

SPEAKER_05

Beauty and black beauty and black, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

That's my show. I ain't seen that one either. But I got it on the list though.

SPEAKER_05

Dude, that beauty and black. Man, I tell you what, if you love that ain't nothing but scripted drama. 100%. And I absolutely love it. It's the toxic.

SPEAKER_04

I love the toxic so funny because you I watch it too. You just like, why the hell am I watching? Because none of it makes sense. But it makes sense.

SPEAKER_05

It makes sense. I was like, I'm only here for the drama.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. It is a lot of drama. Oh my god. All I care about. I'm like, what the hell this cover? But question it. I'm just like, hey, whatever. Yeah, that's crazy though. Okay. Yeah, yeah, it's worth the watch. It's good. If you want, if you like toxic drama, that's basically what it is. Toxic drama. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_07

I'll be like, man, this bullshit. Watching all this toxic drama. Got me hooked. For real.

SPEAKER_05

Because hey, I did used to watch the um like the housewives, but then after a while, I'm like, man.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I watched that four seasons.

SPEAKER_05

Like I remember watching Love and Hip Hop. Yeah, Love and Hip Hop. Like the first couple of seasons. Um, I don't even think I've never made it to No Cities. I only watched the original one. I never got it.

SPEAKER_04

Jim Jones because I started watching them.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think Stevie J wasn't even on there when I started watching.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, it was once I stopped watching them just because why are they fighting all the damn time? What they got to fight for? What they arguing for? I know it is, and that's that's what we pissed me off.

SPEAKER_05

That's why I was like, if it's scripted, yeah, yeah. Oh, I'll watch that. I just I was like, I can't do it. But to see them like in a reality show, even if it's fake or whatever, it's still like real people. Yeah, it is, yeah. I'm like, hell no.

SPEAKER_04

I'm like, I'd rather watch a scripted show. Scripted drama. Yeah, but I know uh rich people arguing with each other for more money. It just it just cracked me up.

SPEAKER_05

Or like, oh, I got this, or oh, I got a rose. Yeah, or I got 18 pair of red bottoms. I'm like, boy, I tell you what.

New Movies, Theater Habits, And Goodbyes

SPEAKER_04

Well, your life is that much drama to be showing all that drama on TV. Crack me up, and you rich as hell. Ain't that funny?

SPEAKER_05

Hell out of here.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

But I know uh, let me see. I I know at the movies it's a movie called Obsession.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, I think.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, yeah, that one that looks good. That one it's like a horror flick.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. I love scary movies. So obsession. Hey, when is the uh oh did the one the one movie, did that come out too? Um in the gray. Is that what it was called? Remember the one with the with the two black girls?

SPEAKER_04

Oh the two oh no, um I know which one you're talking about.

SPEAKER_05

That one didn't come out yet, huh? No, I don't see it. So Mortal Kombat. Oh, so in a damn what is in the gray about?

SPEAKER_04

I know Christian had mentioned mentioned that last week. It's like uh mission impossible.

SPEAKER_05

Well, let's see. Hold on.

SPEAKER_02

Get them out of my office. You need insurance.

SPEAKER_05

I'm sold already. I saw one pretty woman and one gun. That's my quota for going to see a movie. A pretty woman and a gun.

SPEAKER_04

I think the movie you were talking about was I Love Boosters, right?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. When does that one come out? Uh next week.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that's next week?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, next week it's Passenger. I love boosters.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I can't wait to. I ain't gonna tell people. I don't want to overwhelm everybody. They get confused. So I'm just gonna keep it at Obsession and uh In the Gray. In the gray. And watch Nemesis on Netflix.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, pressure looks good too. Uh that's not that's not for a couple weeks. Oh, never mind.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. So that's why I said that's why I gotta watch when I look, because then it starts going down the line. Yeah. One person they told me, they was like, hey, I want to go watch a movie. It wasn't even at the movie. It just came out like two or three weeks later.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe you should have looked it up. Because you can't, I mean, I guess technically you can go to a movie and still buy a ticket.

SPEAKER_05

I'm like, we do not fact check at all.

SPEAKER_04

But when's the last time you went to a movie and just bought a ticket on spot?

SPEAKER_07

Don't tell me. Today? I do it all the time.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, you do it all the time? Oh yeah. Okay, I guess, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Why you buy it on your phone? Yeah, I usually just buy it on my phone.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, but it costs like$3.75.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, you rich, is it?

SPEAKER_07

Super rich. Yeah, man, he's rich.

SPEAKER_04

But what with the whole seat assignment now.

SPEAKER_07

The movie cost eight dollars. Dude.

SPEAKER_04

Or I've never bought a ticket on the phone.

SPEAKER_05

I know. Really?

SPEAKER_07

I did it one time and I was like, why'd it cost so much? I didn't do it no more.

SPEAKER_05

Well, the one time I did is when we went to go watch uh Energy the Dragon. Or not Ener the Dragon, but The Last Dragon. The Last Dragon. And that was just because that was uh, you know, that was like a special Yeah, special screen.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So that's the only reason I did that, but hell no. I I pull, I pull right up and go uh go watch the movies.

SPEAKER_07

That's what I did today about Mortal Kombat 2.

SPEAKER_05

You went and talked?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. So right after work. I was like, right down the street from the movie theater. Boom. Went in there and got my popcorn. I was cool. Yeah. If I didn't go see it after work, I wasn't gonna go see it. I already know I'm gonna go home and go to sleep.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, remind you of the video game, huh? Oh yeah. Yeah, that's what I liked about it.

SPEAKER_07

But that's part two, so you know, you already remember part one.

SPEAKER_04

So they've already did the second one. Yeah, but they did another Mortal Kombat that didn't do that good. Oh, like a long time ago? Yeah, yeah. That one didn't do as good as the last one.

SPEAKER_05

And that's it, that's why I'm not moving credit.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, the very first one. Yeah, the very, I like them all. That's what I said.

SPEAKER_06

I was like, oh man, you see the way they put Sub Zero up in here? Oh man, you see the way they put Scorpion together?

SPEAKER_05

Like somebody was talking about G.I. Joe?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I was like, that movie was fantastic.

SPEAKER_07

They were saying it was awful.

SPEAKER_04

Well, because they didn't do it like the game.

SPEAKER_07

Man, get out of here.

SPEAKER_04

Or not the game, but the cartoon, right?

SPEAKER_07

So that shit was fine with me. Right? Fine with me too. So just like Transformers. Love them too. Alright, I love all of them too. I can't wait to go see He-Man. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Masters of the Universe. Yup. Y'all can't wait for He-Man.

SPEAKER_04

June sixth, June 5th.

SPEAKER_05

Is that when is that when it comes out? That's what, three weeks?

SPEAKER_04

Yep, a few weeks. Three weeks from the day. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So that I'm definitely going to do that. Just because. Oh, what? He-Man? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. So. Who's your favorite He-Man character?

SPEAKER_07

Shebra.

SPEAKER_04

I can't argue with that. Um.

SPEAKER_05

It's so funny because I liked uh I like Skeletor. Oh, you like Skeletor? I like um. I mean, I like everybody liked He-Man, but I mean He-Man, but uh That's what I'm curious about. Um I don't know who who plays Skeletor in this one.

SPEAKER_03

I remember who I I saw the uh previews, but I can't remember what it was.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, is that who plays Skeletor? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, no, that's good. I'm excited about that. You said that's June 6th. Yes. Uh shit, okay.

SPEAKER_03

June 5th, June 5th.

SPEAKER_05

June 5th. I'm saying pretty thing about it. This and this integral. I'm like, boy. That's gonna be real good. Well, let's see. I don't have nothing else to say. You? Anybody else?

SPEAKER_07

What about the devil wears product too?

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_07

I don't think anybody sees that.

SPEAKER_05

No, I haven't seen it yet. I want to see it, but I do too. Yeah. Alright, y'all. Till next week. Till next week. Or the week after, or the week after. We'll see you when we see you. Exactly. Holla. Peace.
