We tried out the new Lightning Lane Multipass at Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We'll share our initial thoughts on the new system, along with some news about passholder perks at Animal Kingdom, a launch date for the new Disney cruise ship and more on Episode 203 of the Mickey File Podcast.
Speaker 2:Welcome back everyone to another episode of the Mickey File podcast. I'm Scott, and with me, as always, is my lovely wife Karen. Hello everybody, we're kind of late this week. Yeah, again, but up to date because we just tried out the new lightning lane. Yes, so we figured we would. Uh, by the time our week got kind of settled in, uh, we realized we were going to do that, so we figured we'd just wait and talk about lightning lanes.
Speaker 1:There we go, so we did the multi-pass it was really hard not to say it like that on the intro so we'll talk about it good, bad, other, mostly good mostly good there's the quick yeah.
Speaker 2:Too long, didn't read Right, but yeah, we spent a few hours over there, half a day, half a day and had a good time. Yes, we did. So that's about all that's going on, I know.
Speaker 2:It's been kind of quiet. It is Not a lot of news. You know, summer doldrumsrums, I think, have set in over there. Yeah too, and they, they did everything. You know, all this new stuff is opened and right, epcot, for better or worse, and tiana and country bear, and all that kind of in a lull. Yeah, it's kind of all for that high of and all that Kind of in a lull.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's kind of all for that high of opening all that stuff again.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but there's some news, so let's start that.
Speaker 1:All right. Disney Cruise Line, the new Disney Destiny, is going to be a heroes and villains inspired ship that is scheduled to set sail december of 2025. Yeah, I'm kind of excited about it. Um, yeah, so starting on the 30th they're going to do like a three-day um video preview, like drop videos of it right showing about the ship.
Speaker 2:So I'm says disney parks blog says. On board, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike, including those from beloved disney animation animation stories like the lion, king, hercules and 101 dalmatians that's cool, I know so.
Speaker 1:it'll be a. It's's the third of the sister ships from the Wish, treasure and now Destiny, yeah, so I'm excited about that one.
Speaker 2:Okay, so this one will be here. Yes, that's cool, the coin's cool. Oh, the coin, that's cool, the coin's cool.
Speaker 1:Oh, the coin is really cool. Oh, that's the one they put on it before they put the.
Speaker 2:Keel laying. Yes, that's it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, couldn't think of the word.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so the wish, the treasure and the destiny.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:The third one Of, and the Destiny yes, this is the third one Of that series. Yeah, and then you've got the Adventure that's the giant ship over in Singapore or wherever.
Speaker 1:Right.
Speaker 2:Okay, got it. I know Cool deal.
Speaker 1:Yes, so now that gives us another ship to go on in 2026.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I guess, so that's true.
Speaker 1:I know I'm silly, but I just, I like the, I like bringing in the heroes and villains. I think that'll be really neat. There we go, all right, and at launch of the lightning lane multi-pass, which was on July 24th, walt Disney World is not charging extra for the park hopping privileges for using the lightning lane multi-pass.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so like for however long it's been. Right, yeah, so like for however long it's been right, where basically magic kingdom and the multi-park lightning lanes were the same price, right? Was there a difference in price? Yes, there was, by part, uh-huh on day one.
Speaker 1:I believe it was like 15, 17 and 18 for the other two parks and then 25 for match. Oh yeah, for the other three parks, 25 for magic. So and I I picked it because I wasn't sure, maybe if it was a glitch and it wouldn't let you jump, until I did it on the 24th and then found out it was you weren't getting charged, you were going to be able to do the park hopping. Yeah, so well we'll talk about when we review it. Yes.
Speaker 2:Because I have some thoughts on observations.
Speaker 1:Yes, so, but that was something I found very interesting, so yeah.
Speaker 2:I'm sure that'll change.
Speaker 1:Yes, I'm sure it will. Like I said, I thought it was a glitch that it wasn't going to let us park hop with it. So yeah, all right with it. So yeah, all right. Um, and at epcot, shade, like the shade, tent, fly things or whatever, like the sails, yes, the sails. Um, those have been added to the world celebration picnic area at epcot. They can do it, they can do it. So, basically, where they had the picnic tables and like the games and stuff, they added those there you mean they could put shade over, like?
Speaker 2:the encanto areas lunchbox yes yes, just saying so. I wandered around that area a little bit yesterday and I didn't even notice it. I didn't actually go, I guess, to that particular section. I was around that area a little bit yesterday and I didn't even notice it. I didn't actually go, I guess, to that particular section. I was around that section.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you don't see it. Unless you're like at it, they don't set up real high yeah.
Speaker 2:Well, it's a good thing anyway.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Now do it in all over Hollywood studios. Yes, all over Hollywood Studios.
Speaker 1:Yes, and at the, at Communicore, that big open area between those two buildings, that would be a good idea to put it there for those little shows they have.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so I went in because you had to go into World Showcase. Yes. And I didn't feel like walking back there Right, so I went into CommunicCorps and just bought a soda outside. First of all, they got to do something. That setup's not good.
Speaker 1:As far as having to go outside to get inside.
Speaker 2:No, at Festival Treats or whatever it's called. The little, oh, the little booths. The little booth, the little window there, yeah, um, that had sodas and beers and a couple of snack things, okay, um. But you go up to a queue line like normal, right. Then you go around a corner where there was no cast member and another set of tens of barriers set up, yeah, but everybody was just walking up to that window getting in the way of people who had already ordered and paid for stuff, and it was just. It's a poor setup.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so one side needs to say order, the other side needs to say pickup, but it doesn't have that you know, it could be as simple as putting up a sign or stationing a cast member there right like they do at festival booths, right to take your receipt, you know something. But um, yeah, it was super weird, yeah, and you especially had a lot of people just walking right up to that window to get ice water, which is fine, uh-huh but then you had people who had gone through the line and ordered stuff who were kind of getting pushed aside. For the people that were people getting free ice water without waiting in the line right so they got a.
Speaker 2:It's amazing to me when disney does something like that, because they've been in the business of moving people through lines for 65 years yeah, so why is it they have such a hard time, sometimes 60 years, whatever it is so I don't understand it. When they set up something like that, that is clearly like halfway done, right, like they didn't think about what they were doing, because it's just blows my mind that that's possible right because that's what they do, is move people through lines yeah, I mean, that's basically all they do, yeah, you know that is kind of shocking yeah, so anyway, okay, small, small complaint, but it just.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Was weird.
Speaker 1:Yes, I gotcha All right. Tortuga Tavern transformed into Tortuga Treasures gift shop as the construction expands at the former Pirates League location Right at Pirates.
Speaker 2:So okay, so there's been scrim around the clock tower for a few weeks and now the gift shop coming out of Pirates is mostly construction walls, right, so they've moved everything out of there over across to Tortuga Tavern, which I understand the need for that. Yes, it kind of sucks, because that's been a good place to go in and sit down and it's mostly been overflow seating for Pecos Bill, because Tortuga Tavern is like never open, right, and it was a huge store. I don't know, maybe it is that big over across the way and you just don't feel it because it's kind of tight. Yeah, but it's a huge store right now, yes, it is.
Speaker 2:And then also weird. Yes, it is, and then also weird, it looks like they're going to use the Pirates League place, which I guess it was like where you used to go in and get like bippity, boppity, boo for pirates. Right Now they're talking that that's where they're going to put the pirate lounge, yeah, in the middle of the exit, in the middle of a gift store. So it'll be interesting to see how that works out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I just I think it's.
Speaker 2:And also a small little room, although it's probably. I've only ever seen it through the People Barred window, but I guess it's probably as big as La Cava.
Speaker 1:So I guess that's fine. Yeah, I just thought that that personally, I thought that was an unusual place to put it well and and, as far as we know, being the only bar at Magic Kingdom yeah if that's what it's gonna be yeah. I mean, that place is gonna be busy yes, I mean Tortuga Tavern, or Tortuga Tavern would make more sense to me If it's going to actually be a lounge.
Speaker 2:So you know like I felt like they were going to put in that that made a good place for it, tortuga, because maybe you have to stay there to drink yeah um, but you're not gonna be able to do that if it's that little place in the queue line, the exit queue of pirates. No, um, no, so I don't know. It'd be interesting to see how this works out. Yeah, yeah, but they are working on it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, definitely working on it. So I thought it was interesting, but I actually was able to see a lot of the merchandise over there better because there weren't as many people there.
Speaker 2:The merchandise is way better displayed. Yeah, across the way where you, yeah, where, for one thing, you have to make an effort to actually go look at it.
Speaker 1:Right, you don't have all the people just coming out of the ride and standing there.
Speaker 2:Right, and there was just a lot more room between displays and stuff.
Speaker 1:Yes, All right. And Disney teases pass holder perks coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom. They've said it's going to be a new magnet, photopass props and more.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I haven't really paid any attention to that, just because, like I saw that there were posts about it on Facebook, I didn't click any of them about that.
Speaker 1:They've not announced a start date and they say that they promise to share more details soon.
Speaker 2:Let's see what does this blog, mickey, have to say about this yep snack o'clock tasty treats, and I don't even know and that's pretty much it. So like it shows the magnet photo photopass props tasty treats and a sante sana, whatever that's supposed to represent yeah, I'm not sure. Probably drinks, oh, maybe but, okay, so it's a big teaser yeah, I mean it's always cool when they do something for pass holders yes, I agree. Especially when the parks are kind of dead.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:It was not busy yesterday.
Speaker 1:No, it was not.
Speaker 2:It was not busy 4th of July either.
Speaker 1:No, now the line that wait times were posted long but it did not match what the parks were to me.
Speaker 2:So the couple of things that I paid attention to Peter Pan's closed right, Right. As long as that line is, it's a people eater. I mean it's a 90 second ride. People go through it quick. Yes, Something I looked at like I didn't see anything over 50 minutes yesterday, right including seven dwarves and tiana, and like the longest wait time I saw was 50 minutes right, which was seven doors.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean that's not a very long wait time. That's Not a very long wait time. That's that's. It's that on Wednesday in January, right? So Not a lot of people at the parks, it's also a thousand degrees.
Speaker 1:Yes, and helping keep pool Theater updates underway at Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, which includes new seating and carpet. I really like the colors they chose for it. It looks good. It really does.
Speaker 2:And they're doing each. They're doing a theater at a time, yeah. So I don't know, I'm not sure how long it's taking them to do it, or if they're like you know, if it it takes two nights, do they close one down or what? They just kind of dropped?
Speaker 1:it in there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the ride wasn't closed and there hadn't been any announcement about it. Just one day people went in and they were like hey, there's new seats and carpets in this yeah place so kind of cool.
Speaker 1:Looks good. I like it. Yeah, it does look really good. I want to go in and see it. That was something I, but then you don't know which one you're going to get.
Speaker 2:Well, right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I thought that was cool.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Excited about just not changing, just updating.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean it's just reupholstering and yeah but still that's nice, not, although they aren't teal blue anymore, they're like multi-colored right, so it looks nice. Yes, it and uh, I don't want the ride, the show, whatever we call it like really changed. You moved, so I'm calling it a ride. Um, I don't want it like changed, changed. But it would be cool to upgrade the last scene a little bit yes because all of their stuff of the future is currently in my house right right like virtual reality got a headset.
Speaker 1:Yep, tell the lights to turn up, yeah.
Speaker 2:Alexa, we got that, you know so.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we don't have the stove programmable, but it's available. Yeah, right, there you go.
Speaker 2:But yeah, a few little updates would be nice, yeah, I don't know where you go from there, which is maybe why they haven't done anything. Yeah, it would be kind of cool to see either that or change the last scene from the future to the 80. Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh, you're right, that'd be cool. Yeah, you know what I mean. Yeah, oh, you're right, that'd be cool. Yeah, all right, there's some DVC news, more DVC news than there was regular news. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Kind of. So there is currently no DVC lounge in Epcot. The Odyssey pavilion temporary lounge has been closed and they're still refurbishing the one on the Imagination Pavilion. Yes, hope that gets done quick. Yeah, and no AP lounge right now either, no, yeah, so, yeah, bring that back. They are still working, obviously still working, because they just started on the one in Frontierland, right, no word yet on Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, but supposed to be in all four parks. Yes, they say. Anyway. So you know it's cool. I mean, they are clearly focused on DVC at this point. Yes, they are, with what they're building and all the rest, right. Number two there is a DVC gathering space, member gathering space and Riviera model rooms now open at Disney Springs. Mm-hmm, that is humorous to me because they have now basically built two new resorts since Riviera.
Speaker 2:Yeah, one is open and the other one is supposed to open in the next five months mm-hmm but model rooms from Riviera, so which, by the way, they've been selling now for almost five years. Um, so I think we know what those look like. Right fact that they put one of those in means, apparently, they're still going to be selling them for a while yes beginning August 4th 2024. So like a week, yes, the Ylana pool at Alani will return to its status as an adult only resort amenity.
Speaker 1:Which I think is really nice.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you need those you do you know the quiet pools?
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:Right, especially even more so at a place like that than Disney World or Disneyland Right. Direct sales continue to trend upward in June with Riviera and Old Key West leading the way.
Speaker 1:The Old Key West surprises me.
Speaker 2:Yeah, because even with the extended date, which is what they're selling direct, and what is that extended date to? Well, 57, right I think so.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, 57.
Speaker 2:But anyway, you know, it's still a short contract, but it's cheap, it's cheap dues and you don't have resale Restriction, Restriction Restrictions. Yeah. If you resell them to someone else, they still get you know 14 resorts out of it, right? So I guess that's why.
Speaker 1:It just did, it just surprised me.
Speaker 2:Yeah, polynesian resort renovations will continue into 2026. Yes, they will. The Island Tower is still on pace to open december 17th. So exciting.
Speaker 1:Yeah, be excited to see that I'd actually like to see the town at the island tower when it's done you know?
Speaker 2:yeah, because, to be honest with you, the location's good.
Speaker 1:Polly and Contemporary. Well, polly and Bay Lake Tower are not my favorite DBC resorts. I know the location's good. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 2:They're not my favorite.
Speaker 1:I understand Bay Lake just because of.
Speaker 2:Bay Lake is boring.
Speaker 1:Yes, I understand Bay Lake. Just because of it, bay Lake is boring. Yes, and I understand that. I'm curious as far as why Polly isn't. I don't know, since they've redone the rooms, I really like them yeah, I, I don't know.
Speaker 2:I don't know what it is. I think the buildings just still feel old to me and dark okay, I can see that um, they're just not my favorites okay, I can see that so maybe the tower will change that, yeah, or maybe the tower will be like bay lake and feel like a holiday inn express, and I won't love it either.
Speaker 1:I don't know no, I agree with you.
Speaker 2:I don't, I don't I like top of the world yeah, I love top of the world.
Speaker 1:I just the rooms at bay lake and the lobby does nothing.
Speaker 2:Part of it is for the premium because they're monorail right, which is great and all um and probably way better if I didn't have a car yes but really expensive for basically the same room as everywhere else yeah I guess that's my issue.
Speaker 1:Yeah, now when they like Bay Lake gets refurbed, maybe you'll like, maybe we'll like it again. Maybe try it and like it again, who knows?
Speaker 2:Yeah, okay, that's all the news.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like we said, not a lot of news. No, not a lot.
Speaker 2:Mm-mm, not a lot going on. Nope, it's the dog days of summer. Mm-hmm, not a lot going on anywhere. Lightning Lane. So it started on the 24th. That was Wednesday.
Speaker 1:That was Wednesday at 7 am.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so we planned on going over Saturday, mm-hmm, which is what we did, right? And when did you sign us up?
Speaker 1:for lightning. You could not do anything until 7 am I understand, but I don't know.
Speaker 2:Did you do it on wednesday, the?
Speaker 1:yes, yes, I did it. On wednesday, the 24th at 7 am I went into the app, you know, to book it and again, like I said before, they had the pricing tiers and I wasn't sure. I just I thought that if I wasn't going to be able to go to the other parks, so I that's why I picked magic kingdom, thinking it was the multi-experience one Gotcha be able to go to the other parks. So that's why I picked magic kingdom, thinking it was the multi experience one. Gotcha so pick magic and it immediately opened up and gave me the um I had to buy it for, buy it for us, and then immediately gave me the options of all of the um, tier one and in the times, the multi-pass for magic kingdom includes tianas yes so understand why magic kingdom was more expensive, right?
Speaker 2:so here just looking for uh For the 31st.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:It'll be $27 per guest. Mm-hmm $20 for Tron and 19 for Epcot, 15 for Cosmic Rewind Right. That makes no sense Because those rides are not even close to being similar quality, right Hollywood Studios. Similar quality, right Hollywood Studios 24 bucks, wow. Lightning Lane single pass for Rise of the Resistance is already sold out for the 31st Mm-hmm On the 28th. Right.
Speaker 2:And Animal Kingdom $17, $14 for Flight of Passage. Right, man, is there a premium for Magic Kingdom? Now I understand why Magic Kingdom is more expensive. Yes, right, because you've got. I mean obviously Magic Kingdom, haunted Mansion, jungle Cruise, tiana's Pirates Are included. Mm-hmm. No character meat. Nope. Philharmagic is included. The Tiki Room is not Country Bear Jamboree is not Mm-hmm. Monsters Inc. Laughiki Room is not Country Bear Jamboree is not Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor is Right. Here's the thing that's going to disappoint some people. What.
Speaker 2:Enchanted Tales with Belle is not a multi-pass experience. I've never met anyone who didn't do that ride with that show, with a fast pass and it used to be a Genie Plus because it's a we did it either Genie Plus or Daz yeah, because it's a meet and greet. Yeah, I guess that's why. Yep. But no, tiki Room, nope, and I feel like the Tiki Room had it, not that you ever used it.
Speaker 1:Right, but I feel it did too.
Speaker 2:Maybe Country Bear never did, but I'm surprised it doesn't now. Right, but that's why it's more expensive. Yes, I mean obviously. Mm-hmm. Yeah, and Seven Dwarfs is currently unavailable for the 31st also Right, but Guardians is not.
Speaker 1:It's available, yep, tron's available, yep but remember, seven doors was even on regular original fast pass.
Speaker 2:It is impossible to get um, epcot frozen ever after mission space. Uh, obviously test track if it were open, right, because that popped up. That's a thing that happened yesterday. Yeah, which was funny. Yeah, the Disney and Pixar short film festival Interesting.
Speaker 1:Well, on hot days and rainy days, that fills up.
Speaker 2:It does Turtle Talk with Crush. We've still never done that. It was closed forever. And then we just haven't bothered to do it since. Right, um, I did like pop my head in there one day just to say I had seen it. Hollywood studios alien swirling saucers here beauty and the beast live on stage. Hollywood Studios Alien Swirling Saucers here, beauty and the Beast live on stage. Frozen Ever After or not Frozen Ever After? First Time in Forever, a Frozen sing-along celebration. That's available. Indiana Jones, millennium Falcon, rockin' Roller Coaster, tower of Terror I mean, those are no wonder it's 24 bucks. It's a good park for it. Yeah. Animal kingdom everything right. Yeah, and that there's no dinosaur everest.
Speaker 2:No, no, uh, tears even right, there is no tear on that one, the bird show, which, if you want to see it Fast Pass, is the way to go. Yes, that's the old Lion King too, I kind of remember.
Speaker 1:Yes, Otherwise you stand in that queue forever. Yeah.
Speaker 2:And you get better seats. Yes, finding Nemo. Finding Nemo, you still stand in that queue forever because it's a long show. But everything except for that, I can tell everything except for Flight of Passage is for Animal Kingdom, so that's cool, yep. So you scheduled us. Our tier one was Jungle Cruise yes, which we do not remember being tier one no, before when they did this, no. And we had Haunted Mansion and Pirates yes, and you had them close together.
Speaker 1:Yes, I did, starting at like 920. Because what it does? It pops up the first available time and then underneath it it says more times. So if you click it and you don't like the times, you can change them right there, on all of them at the same time. So I purposely pushed Haunted, which actually came up with the earliest time. I pushed it back closer to Jungle Cruise, which actually came up with the earliest time. I pushed it back closer to jungle cruise, so I wanted to kind of stack them as close together as possible.
Speaker 2:New knowing we probably wouldn't get there right when, yeah, the first fast pass I'm sorry, multi-pass came up yeah, and so we went to haunted mansion, and as soon as we tapped in, we started looking for the next ride yes. Could not get it to your one, right? I don't know, dill, if that's because there was nothing else available or they were just sold out for the day. Right, it didn't give us an option, right, it did. However, when you picked one, you had five minutes to confirm it yes, it held.
Speaker 1:It holds it for five minutes, which is great, which?
Speaker 2:has been a huge issue with the original genie plus that you would click a time and by the time it was confirmed it was an hour later, right?
Speaker 1:it changed it on you. So now I think it's great that you, that you do that, because that way you can still check with everybody. This do you guys want this time I'm going to push it back. What do you want me to do?
Speaker 2:And also we had pirates from 11 o'clock to 12 o'clock and you got an 1115 for Little Mermaid.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:So they let us overlap too. Yes, which we didn't used to do either. Right, right, it was. Oh, you already have a thing scheduled in this time. Yeah, own thing scheduled in this time, you know. Yeah, you have to choose an hour. Yeah, you have to pick which one you want to keep. Yeah, um, so that was pretty cool. So we like loaded up mid-morning to early afternoon at magic kingdom pirates. At 11 o'clock was shut down. I don't know if it opened again or not, because we left.
Speaker 1:Yeah epcot, yeah, they gave us a multi experience for that, which was only good for Magic.
Speaker 2:Kingdom Right. So we stopped at a blue umbrella on the way out and told the guy listen, we were headed to Epcot. Is there any way to get this changed to Epcot? Which he did. I am pretty certain that another woman came up while we were sitting there and ask a different cast member and told her that it was only good for magic kingdom. Really, yeah, I didn't hear the entire conversation, but I'm pretty sure that's what the conversation was well, and part of it is.
Speaker 1:we did already have multi-passes scheduled for epcot right, because after the first ones we and we did everything we wanted to do at Magic to go to Epcot. Then we booked Soarin' and Livin' with the Land, so it probably helped that we already had bookings at Epcot.
Speaker 2:Yeah it may have. There was quite the list of things it wasn't eligible for at Magic Kingdom if I remember right, yes.
Speaker 2:So, but it was okay. I mean, we weren't really there to do. Be honest with you, I've been on tiana's like six or seven times already, so I'm good for a while yeah, I didn't even make an effort to try it for that one and um tron's. All right, but yeah, just it wasn't yeah, the thing with tron is, even with a lightning lane or an individual lightning lane like your weight can be a virtual queue.
Speaker 1:Anyway, the virtual queues definitely can be a long time can be an hour or more waiting in that line.
Speaker 2:yeah, um, so I'm not interested, right, but it worked pretty well. As soon as I said, as soon as we scanned, we were able to get it. What we did not try and that was kind of silly we didn't try, when we got that multi-pass, to make another fast pass right away, like we did before. You know where you got a fast pass for a ride that was closed, and then you got your multi-pass and you made another one, the multi-experience pass, and then you made another one. We didn't try that Kind of forgot.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we did kind of forget, because we're trying to figure out if there's something we wanted to do still at Magic, or then just head over to Epcot.
Speaker 2:Yeah, now, when we rode Jungle Cruise and, by by the way, we didn't wait in line five minutes jungle, oh, not at all. Going through there yeah, um, but when we rode, when we tapped into jungle cruise, we got soaring, yes, for and one o'clock.
Speaker 1:It actually was 12 something, but I could have got earlier. But I knew that we had pirates scheduled already and trying to get out of magic, get to ttc and then get over to epcot. I didn't want us to miss or soren, so I pushed it back right we. We were able to get an 11, 30 soren, but I I knew we couldn't make it.
Speaker 2:Yeah so and that was at 11 o'clock. Yeah, soren had a 50 minute wait.
Speaker 1:Yes, but I could get yeah, but I could get an 11 30 lightning lane um the land man, nobody was using them on the land.
Speaker 2:I'll send the family behind us and I kind of I think the family behind us was das oh, okay so yeah, but yeah, there was nobody using lightning alien I I'm going to assume they were das yeah, and didn't pay for multi-pass experience for the family, right, um, because they clearly would have qualified. Yeah, so I don't think that's a HIPAA violation. No, you know, but we were getting rides almost immediately, yes, within a half an hour. Yes, every time we tried to get one Right. Yes, every time we tried to get one right.
Speaker 2:So, kind of interesting, because this, I would have thought it would have been worse. I understand, like people have just gotten to where you can start doing it in advance, right, but the fact is it's the same price. It hadn't gone up. I mean, magic kingdom has been 25, 27, 30, right, right, it may have gone up a buck or two a piece, but it hasn't gone up significantly, right, um, and you could book them in advance and have things scheduled. But it was quick. Yes, they were very quick. Like I didn't see a need for scam by standby skipper yesterday, right, right, like I, it wouldn't have done any better than we were. Yeah, I'd still like to find out if standby skipper can get your. Well, they probably can't get your first three, since you pick them right as soon as you pay for them, right, but I didn't see a need for it yesterday at all. That doesn't mean there won't be Right. There will be days.
Speaker 1:We certainly didn't need it yesterday at all.
Speaker 2:That doesn't mean there won't be, right, there will be days we didn't need it yesterday right, there will be days that it's needed, yeah yeah, christmas day, yeah, still get it. Yep, you know. Day after thanksgiving, for sure, yeah, probably during a race weekend, yes, but uh, certainly didn't need it yesterday. I mean mean, when you tapped in, you were getting rides within 20 to 30 minutes. Yeah. Of when we were looking for one Right, you know.
Speaker 1:I mean, I think it was very smooth. Even signing up was very smooth.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And it gave you. It walked you through the steps, which was really neat. And it gave you it walked you through the steps, which was really neat. I'm really glad you were able to go, click and modify each one and it had it all on the same screen and it held it for the five minutes to be able to make those changes that you want to make.
Speaker 2:Right, Because, like I said, I mean it's been a problem in the past with ooh, they've got Peter Pan at two o''clock and you click it and it says 305 or 852 850.
Speaker 1:Yeah right, you're like, wait a minute, I'm not even gonna be here.
Speaker 2:I thought that was a cool little. Uh, what I think was a new thing? I haven't used genie plus in a while.
Speaker 1:You have yeah but uh, no, I felt it was much smoother than Genie Plus. Yeah, I mean, and when you're on the screen to select them the next time, you know, on your next you just click which icon for which park. You don't have to go back out select a different park. You can do it from that screen. You just pick the right, the height, you highlight the icon you want and it lists the multi-pass options. Yeah, and what you're eligible for Right.
Speaker 2:So you know, we could get Soarin' after Jungle Cruise. We couldn't get Soarin' after Haunted Mansion, Right.
Speaker 1:So I was pleased as far as how it worked.
Speaker 2:I was too. I'm honestly. I was skeptical of it worked. I was too I'm I'm honestly, I was skeptical of it. I was too, but I'm way more likely to use it yes than I was yes the old one yes, especially if they keep it the way we're doing.
Speaker 1:You know that it shows I. You know that you don't have to have the multi-experience one, because actually I really don't. I I wanted to see how it worked with magic, because that's always the best one to check it with, because the amount of rides right, um. But I would have been fine just doing epcot right for, just do an Epcot Right For the day, and that multi-experience one. We could use it frozen and at Remy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, that was. That was strange, we've never been able to use it at frozen.
Speaker 1:No, never. And we looked on it and it showed the multi-experience was available for literally everything at Epcot other than Guardians, obviously, except for Guardians and they specifically said it won't be good for Guardians and we're like well, we knew that. I mean, we knew that just from us having the experience. We knew that wasn't us having the experience, we knew that wasn't available.
Speaker 2:The Frozen and Remy shocked me. So you can do it seven days in advance. If you're staying at a resort and other select hotels which I'm going to assume includes things like the Drury and Right Certainly Shades of Green, right that and other guests can purchase passes up to three days in advance of their park visit. So we can decide on Wednesday, we're going on Saturday and buy multi-pass, right, so that's cool, which is nice.
Speaker 2:It is A 56 second video on how to purchase a Lightning Lane pass, but at least they've got a video for it now. Yeah, you know a 56 second video on how to purchase a lightning lane pass on that, but at least they've got a video for it now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you know and then at times you go on Facebook and everybody's like I don't understand this at all. I mean, at least there's some videos right. Minute and four seconds. What are lightning lane passes? 56 seconds, how to buy it Right. So that's under lightning Lane on DisneyWorldDisneyGocom. Mm-hmm. That's cool, that is cool. So what were you going to tell?
Speaker 1:About the funny experience with our multi-experience thing. Oh, that was super weird. Yeah, so we had this multi-one multi-experience. Yeah, this was really weird. Yeah, so we had this multi one, multi experience yeah, this was really weird and we were gonna. Originally, we were gonna go do frozen and then we decided not to yeah, but it was so.
Speaker 2:It's the one we got from pirates, pirates being cut right. The guy changed over to epcot, epcot, right, and it showed on mde multi-pass, multi-experience, multiple experience. You know the one you get when, right, your fast pass is not good, right, or you get a ride shut down or whatever, right. So we got to. We were going to ride spaceship earth yeah um, so, because we were getting ready to leave and yeah so it was right there.
Speaker 2:We're going to use it on spaceship earth right, we tap in go to tap in and they go um, it shows that your next lightning lane is four o'clock for turtle talk with crush. And I'm like, uh, no, and there was a lead standing there and I looked at her. I'm like, no, and there was a lead standing there and I looked at her. I'm like I can't even imagine the world in which somebody uses a fast pass for Turtle Talk with Crush, right.
Speaker 1:First of all, Right and she giggled actually.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they couldn't figure it out. And she's like can you show it to me? We showed her. On the app it says multiple experiences. Yeah, in the system it showed we had turtle talk, we crush at four o'clock Right. Really weird. So that's apparently a thing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we talk about a glitch and then so they just kind of waved us through and when we left, that multi experience was still there.
Speaker 2:Mm hmm, yeah, it never turned green. No, they had us, you know, tap in again and it still was blue. It never did turn green.
Speaker 1:Usually they override that and she goes well, no, you're supposed to be a turtle.
Speaker 2:I'm like no, we're not yeah, no, no, but so, but that was weird, aside, aside from that which was actually almost completely unrelated to the actual multi-pass system, yeah it went really well.
Speaker 1:It did go really well, but I just thought that was really funny.
Speaker 2:It honestly went at least as well as when we have recently used the standby skipper. Yes, Now one thing I think I had the impression At least it's some of the rides that there were more people in the Lightning Lane line than normal.
Speaker 2:Because people are using the dash changes which have cut like the number of people in the line drastically Right Because people are using this new. I think Right, drastically right because people are using this new. I think right because you could schedule in advance and it makes it more worth the money for me anyway.
Speaker 1:Yeah, scheduling in advance, yeah, because at least you know what you're going to get to ride.
Speaker 2:But golly man, everywhere you went in line, walking from a ride to the next ride, everybody had their nose in their phone and it was all on the mde app. It wasn't, you know, facebook and instagram, it was. Everybody was buried in their phones. So I think there were a lot more people using them, but but it actually held lines up because people were on their phones looking at the app and not following the person in front of them in line.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So I don't know. I mean, there's no way around it. This is what Disney's done is they've turned you, they've enslaved you to your phone. Yeah.
Speaker 1:Through mobile ordering and mobile checkout and pass passes and photo passes and everything else but so I mean, like for us, as soon as I tap, as soon as we tapped, I booked the next one, you know, because I knew what we had been on and I'd already looked ahead of time before, as we're getting there, to see what the availability looked like, to see what we had.
Speaker 2:You know we joke about not rope dropping Right, but back in the old days before the dark times.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:We would get up in the morning, oh, we would, and leave the house at seven or eight o'clock and be there for rope drop, run into buzz light year, and you know, and have three fast passes scheduled and you know, get in, get into the magic kingdom, jump on one of the main street transportation things to take us up to the castle, skip the walk and run over to, like I said, buzz lightyear, and you know maybe around the corner, or maybe go to peter pan right at rope drop or whatever and have the three and be done at noon yeah, we'd have everything you know.
Speaker 2:Six, seven, eight rides sometime yeah, and we did.
Speaker 1:We were rope drop people.
Speaker 2:I forgot about that and and driving an hour to get there, yeah, and then, saturday to do it, but be home by one or two o'clock yeah, and writing everything we want to write and I can remember going. You know, we wrote nine rides today and we left at 11 30, yeah and um, I can see that happening again yes with this?
Speaker 1:yes, because we have them, you know booked and because you can overlay them completely, you can. You can stack them physically on top of each other so we had I I know we had all right.
Speaker 2:So haunted mansion was like 9 20 to 10, 20 or 9 30 10 30, whatever it was right, and we had no intention of being there at 9 30, so that worked out. Yep, we had Haunted Mansion at or no, I'm sorry, jungle Cruise. We had Jungle Cruise At 10.20. 10.20. Right. So Haunted Mansion was 9.30 to 10.30. Mm-hmm. Jungle Cruise was 10.20 to 11.20. Right Pirates was 11 to 12. Mm-hmm, and we got Little Mermaid for 11.15 to 12.15.
Speaker 1:Right, so we had four rides overlapping each other.
Speaker 2:In two and a half hours, yeah, two hours and 45 minutes, right, and could have gotten Soarin' in there if there was any way for us to get from Pirates of the Caribbean or Little Mermaid. We're about the last one. Yep, if we could have gotten from Little Mermaid, were to have been the last one. Yep, if we could have gotten from Little Mermaid to Soarin', soarin', yeah, and you know we went and sat down outside of the Tortuga Treasures to kill about 25 minutes between Jungle Cruise and pirates, right, but we could have gone to the Tiki Room, which actually had kind of a line. I know it did Filler magic, yep, but we could have gone to the Tiki Room, which actually had kind of a line, I know it did.
Speaker 1:Filler Magic. Yep, but they were doing the pre-show. Yeah, so yeah.
Speaker 2:And I don't think it had more than one show line. Right, you know Right.
Speaker 2:But yeah, we could have gone and done it. What I noticed is that some of the shows that never have a line had one, those that never have a line had one, and I think it was because at least us old school APs, you know, we're like, okay, I've got jungle crews, then pirates, I'll go to Tiki room in between, right To kill time. So you know, maybe it's going to be more like normal, but 25 bucks a day to be like normal. Yeah.
Speaker 1:Or like old old yeah, because if you could stack them to, let's say, nine, you have one from 9 15 to 10 15 and you stack one at 9 45, and then I mean that's, if you could stack them like I hope they don't change that, that I'm hoping they don't change. Yeah, but actually with genie plus you could do, you could do that. You just it very rarely happened, but you could stack them that way. So I think I'm hoping it it does stay, because that would be nice. If you really plan it, you could stack it really well, yeah, even better than we did yesterday.
Speaker 2:But then you know once you get it going. We didn't have to wait, no.
Speaker 1:We would just go from one to the other.
Speaker 2:We had Soren in the land, literally got off Soren and went to the land. Yeah, so it worked pretty well yesterday. We'll see how well it works next time. Yeah, I think that's it. Yep. I think that's it. We didn't eat, or eat or drink. Well, we didn't eat anything there we had mcdonald's? Yeah, all we got were a couple sodas walking around the park and bottles of water yeah, and when?
Speaker 1:I? Well, I mean like I walked in world showcase it was, it was not busy and it was not busy after Magic Kingdom wasn't busy.
Speaker 2:It wasn't like everybody was somewhere else.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Just wasn't busy.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:And it hasn't been, not like it was even two months ago.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So summer's when to go now? I guess yeah, if you can tolerate the heat.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I had a fan on my face while I was walking through. It worked for me.
Speaker 2:All right, that's going to wrap it up All right, so thanks again, everybody for listening. Sorry we're late, but at least it's timely.
Speaker 1:Yes.
