The Hopecast with Rachael Flick
In February of 2018, Rachael’s husband Micah was murdered in the line of duty. Micah was shot while protecting fellow police officers and citizens who came under fire during the arrest of a car thief. Micah left Rachael, and their seven year old twins, behind in his act of heroism. Devastated by the death of the future she and Micah had dreamed of together, Rachael nevertheless refused to succumb to her circumstances. She began testing and applying practical skills to grieve well and grow through the painful, traumatic experiences. In The Hopecast, Rachael and her guests will share their stories on their journeys of resilience. These stories will motivate and encourage you with clarity, direction and healing. Listen and meet the people who have been empowered by hope. Come and learn the skills to face your past and prepare for your wholehearted future. The Hopecast with Rachael Flick-Episode 79-Trafficked and Abused by My Own Family: A Redemption Story with Andi Burger
Imagine your earliest memory of your mother being one of her chasing you around the house with a butcher knife when you were only 3 years old, or the magnitude of deciding by age 5 that life is no longer worth living. For many of us, these scenarios are so far beyond our experiences that it’s challenging to wrap our minds around. But for Andi Burger, who was born into the hands of violent monsters, this was her reality. Andi and Rachael talk through Andi’s upbringing and the horrors she lived through from the time she was only 6 months old, until she was 17 and out of her parent’s house. Andi recalls two powerful moments when she first experienced the presence of God, and shares how His redemption has transformed her life. She also discusses her nonprofit, and offers listeners a way that they can take a stand against human trafficking.
