Rachael Flick

On this Valentine's edition of the show, we dig into the audio vault to bring you a classic episode. This show first aired back in December of 2020. This is a heartfelt show that we know you're going to be touched by.

Micah and Rachael Flick were an average couple with an extraordinary love. They met at their gym, choosing to work out longer, just to spend more time together. When Micah finally asked Rachael out on a date, their feelings for each other grew quickly. Four months after their first date, Micah proposed and Rachael eagerly accepted.

Rachael didn't have a healthy model of marriage from her own childhood. She and Micah did their best to prepare with marriage materials and pre-marital counseling, but the learning curve was steep. Rachael realized, in retrospect, that she had done a lot of "image management" in their dating in order to put her best foot forward.

The reality of marriage was far from a fairytale. There was a lot of hard work and conflict involved in creating a love that would withstand pressure and unrealistic expectations

When Micah died, Rachael gave a eulogy that moved the nation. The stories of their love, humor and humanity touched those who watched Rachael recall dancing  in the kitchen with Micah only days before he died. Rachael also spoke much needed truth of the realities facing law enforcement in a season where they are intentionally targeted as symbols of truth and authority in America.

Rachael answers the tough questions around regret and if she would choose to marry Micah again, knowing the pain that would come in the future. Ultimately, the love that they shared inspires others to fight for each other and appreciate the simple pleasures of a life well lived.
