Today , we're doing something very , very different today and we want to invite you to break bread and to take it a cup with us today , and the title of this service for this five minute is communion at home . Father , we come to you , lord , and maybe we're not able to get to church . We're maybe not able to get out of that house . So today , lord , we're going to break bread together online . Today , lord , we're going to break bread together across the world , and we can't see any other believer . We're just in our bed . We're in our house , we're in our home , lord , we're just in our bed , we're in our house . We're in our home , lord , we're trapped in a certain situation , but , lord , you tell us through scripture that to break bread together and , lord , it's okay Wherever you are . Listeners right now . It's okay to do it in your bedroom . It's okay to do it sitting at the edge of your bed . It's okay in the van , in the car . It's okay at the end of the table on your own . It's okay in the staff room , in any setting that you're okay to be in with yourself in that space . It's okay .
Speaker 1Communion at home . Maybe you're at work , maybe you're at school ,
maybe you're in a staff room , maybe you're just wondering about life . If you want to break bread , come on , grab yourself a tiny bit of bread , a bit of grape juice , maybe if you've got a bit of wine , just something like that . Because we've got to understand it is symbolic . It is not the power in the bread , it is not the power in the grape juice , the wine , whatever it is . It is a symbol of a symbol of what , the symbol of the body of Christ and the symbol of the blood of Jesus . And do you know what it's great to do this . So let's take this opportunity .
Speaker 1Wherever you are , whatever your time zone is , we want to welcome you to this daily Christian prayer podcast . As we break bread together , as we take a cup together , communion at home , father , we ask you , as we just have this piece of bread in our hands now , lord , as we have this tiny cup , this cup of grape juice , wine , whatever , lord , whatever we've got to represent the blood of Jesus , we clearly understand that there is no power in the bread itself . There is no power in the grape juice , the wine in itself . It's what it symbolizes . And today we come to you as sinners saved by grace . We don't need a bishop , a pope , to bless this , because the Bible doesn't tell us that . The Bible tells us wherever you are , whoever you are , jesus says do this in remembrance of me . He doesn't call on the church , he doesn't call on the elders , he doesn't call on anyone from the ministry team . He does it himself . He
is the great high priest .
Speaker 1So , father , will you bless this bread ? I thank you for this bread and as I break this . So , father , will you bless this bread ? I thank you for this bread and as I break this bread right now , I thank you that this bread symbolizes your body that was broken for me . And , lord , as we break this bread together as the children of the living God , father , thank you that your body was broken so that lives will be transformed . So bless this bread in Jesus' precious name , amen . Father , I thank you that there was bloodshed at the cross of Calvary . And , lord , as I hold this cup , as I just ponder , at work , at home , wherever I am now , I thank you , lord , for the cup of redemption . And , lord , as we prepare ourselves , we thank you that you've already prepared us . So , lord , as I take of this cup , I thank you , lord , that I'm a sinner saved by grace . Cleanse me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet . I thank you that I'm able to take communion at home , communion at work , communion at school , wherever I am , with my friends , my family or just me on my own . But right now I'm not on my own because Pastor Ben is with me . And , lord , we're breaking bread together and we're taking another cup together . So , lord , bless this time . I thank you for the bread that symbolizes the body of Christ . I thank you for this grape juice , this wine that symbolizes the blood of Jesus . Cleanse me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet In Jesus' name . Amen .
Speaker 1How simple
is that ? We don't need to be in a cathedral , you don't need to be in some great grand setting , you know , in a massive cathedral , a large church . You don't need all the bells and the whistles , because that's not scripture , what Jesus says as often as you gather together , do this in my name . You know what ? Me and you , just two of us , whoever you are , it's just myself and you , but uncountable people across the world . So we're doing it as the family of god , we're doing it as believers . So never give up . Stay anchored in faith , stay strong in prayer . Thank you for joining us on this daily Christian prayer podcast with myself , reverend Ben Cooper .
