Welcome to Communion at Home , a scripture-based prayer and faith renewal and worship Wherever you are across the world . We welcome you to our daily Communion at Home , a devotional time with myself , reverend ben cooper , broadcasting live from here , london , england . Each moment is a sacred moment . We invite each and every one of us to break bread in the mighty name of jesus christ . You know this is a really critical time . The world is upside down inside out and we want to invite you , wherever you are , to break bread communion at home . When was the last time you broke bread ? When was the last time you took of the cup ? When was the last time you was in church ? You know we speak about this a lot . This is really , really important in these 15 minute . You know devotional times that come out every day , and the title of what we are looking at and praying through is something that is really needed across the world and that is peacemakers of the kingdom of God , coming from the scripture of Matthew , chapter 5 , verse 9 blessed are the peacemakers , for they will be called the children of God . Let's just ponder a moment Before we go any further . I want to invite you to grab a little bit of bread , a corner of a little bit of bread , a bit of a cracker , whatever you've got . Wherever you are at this moment in time , get yourself ready . In about five or seven minutes

Breaking Bread Outside Church Walls

Speaker 1

we're just going to break bread and we're going to take it a cup . Have you got a little bit of grape juice ? Maybe a bit of wine ? Just a tiny taster . It doesn't need to be too much , because we've got to remind ourselves that this is just symbolic . It is symbolic , you know , the bread and the wine is symbolic , but we want to invite you today . Maybe it'll be the first time . Are you at home ? Are you on your own ? Are you in a crowd ? Are you with family ? Are you sitting around the table ? You know , we want you to use these teachings to bring this to your house , to your workspace , maybe to your prayer group , maybe to your house group , wherever it is , because let's tell the truth now . Come on , you will know the truth and the truth will set you free . What do you mean , pastor ben ? Tell the truth . This can be done outside of the four walls of religion . This is not meant to be kept inside of the building . This was brought in and orchestrated outside of religion and outside of what we know as the church today . What do you mean ? Expand what you're saying .

Speaker 1

If you go to the book , the beautiful book of exodus , chapter 12 , 13 , you will read about the passover , because this is what we are doing . This is not a religious , religious , sorry exercise . This is about breaking of bread and taking of the cup . This is about spending time with yourself , myself , whoever . We are just in the presence of Almighty God . And we can break bread , guess where ? Sitting in your van , commuting in an aircraft , sitting at your school desk , wherever you are at home , sitting on the edge of the bed at the breakfast bar , sitting on your sofa , sitting around the table , wherever you are . This can be done wherever you are , because guess what , my friend , guess what ? Brother and sister ? You are the church , you are the body . You are the body , you are the church , we are the church . So we don't need the four walls of religion to tell us that we can't do this . It is not scripture .

Speaker 1

If you have a Bible , very quickly turn to Exodus , chapter 12 . You will find that God gave this instruction out in the middle of the open air . They was not in a tent , they was not in a cathedral , they was not in a religious setting . They was out in the open air and God gave them instruction for the Passover . And this is what we are celebrating the Passover ,

Speaker 1

you know . That's why we study this so much , because it's critical for us , as born-again believers , to understand that it's not about a religious activity .

Speaker 1

Do this at home , if you are on your own now . Do this with me . Come on , let's do this together . Let's pray for a moment . So get yourself a bit of bread , get yourself a bit of grape juice , a bit of wine , wherever you are at this moment in time , and we're going to break bread together . Maybe it's the first time you've done it , you know , in months , maybe years , maybe you've never been and had the confidence to do it in church because it's so much pressure . Isn't church pressurized ? We don't need that . You know , jesus just gathered the 12 , the 12 radical disciples . He gathered them , their men , around the table . None of them was righteous , no one was able , no one was pure enough to do this , but by him , you know , it is because of him . So let's just pray a moment . Let's just take a few moments to pray and let's ask God that he will get us ready . So let's just reflect and prepare yourself to break bread with me and to take this cup .

Speaker 1

Father , we thank you for Matthew , chapter five , verse nine . Blessed are the peacemakers , for they will be called the children of God . Lord , I want to be remembered for someone that made peace . I want to be remembered for someone that brought peace , peacemaker of the kingdom of God . And Lord , I thank you for this communion at home . As we record this live , here in London , england , as we reflect on Jesus , the ultimate peacemaker through his sacrifice . Father , we thank you that God for God , gave us the privilege of communion even at home , that we can be at home communion at home , at work , outside , in the field , wherever we are , in the name of Jesus , lord , can you prepare my heart , can you prepare my heart , lord , for repentance ? Before taking of this bread and this cup , I bring myself to you today and to everybody under the sound of my voice and I pray , lord , right now , for repentance . Lord , that you will bring me to this place , clean my heart , clean me right the way through .

Speaker 1

Lord , as I remember , lord , as I think of the scripture , I pray for peace in households today , in workplace today , in lives today , because , lord , you tell us that it is blessed , are the peacemakers . In the name of Jesus Christ and Lord , I ask you to make each and every one of us a peacemaker in our lives . Remove anger , frustration , arrogance , bitterness , hurtful ways . Lord , we want to be known and remembered

Taking the Bread Together

Speaker 1

as peacemakers . So we come to the passover today and we come to the table today and we say Jesus , I thank you for your mercy , your unconditional love , in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ . As I reflect on the cross , the cross father , the bridge between God and humanity , I thank you that the cross is that bridge between God and humanity and I invite the Holy Spirit to restore any brokenness today in everybody listening . I pray that there will be restoration and there will be peace and your beautiful presence , god , the Holy Spirit , will bless those pressed down , running over , shaken together . Lord , we commit . We commit our lives as children of God by sowing peace daily . Lord , we want to switch our lives around . Lord , I don't want to be angry , I don't want to be frustrated , I don't want to be judgmental , I don't want to be condemning Lord , I don't want to be jealous , but , lord , what I want to be remembered for is Pastor Ben always brought peace . Ben always brought peace .

Speaker 1

So , today , as I come to the table , as I , dear God , break bread with my brothers and sisters through prayer , through faithfulness , through meditation , through the word of God , I ask you right now , lord , that you will cleanse us in Jesus' name . Brother and sister , shall we gather around the table just for these moments ? Let's turn to the gospel of Luke , chapter 22 , verse 19 . This is what Christ says . This is my body , which was given for you . Do this in remembrance of me .

Speaker 1

Lord , I come to you as a sinner saved by grace and Lord , I recognize that this is the bread of life and , as John declared , whoever comes to me will never be hungry and whoever believes in me will never thirst . So , lord , I come to you today and , lord , I can't hunger anymore . I've craved for the world , I've been thirsty for the world , but it's done me wrong . It didn't give me what I needed . I'm sorry that I sowed into the world of the flesh and today , lord , at this hour , at this moment , I sow into the eternal peace of the Father's arms , into the Father's heart . So , lord , can you draw all of us in today ? So , lord , as we break bread , as brothers and sisters around the world . We are gently reminded that this is spiritual , this is power and this has anointing over it . So , lord , I declare that there is power in the name of Jesus , and as I break this bread with everyone under the sound of my voice , I believe that this bread is symbolic to the body of christ , from the garden of gethsemane right the way through to the cross , from the cross to the grave , from the grave to ascension day . I thank you that jesus is seated at the right hand of the father . I believe in the word of god that it is without error and this bread is symbolic to the body of christ . So , father , as I take this now , bless this bread in the beautiful name of our lord jesus christ . Amen .

Speaker 1

The bible says he lifted the cup and he said in 1 Corinthians 11.25 , this cup is a new covenant in my blood . Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me . The covenant seals the promises of forgiveness , healing eternal peace

Sharing the Cup of Redemption

Speaker 1

through the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ . So , lord , I'm a sinner saved by grace and I thank you that it's not by work , so that no one can boast . So , lord , my heart , I ask you , father , that you will take my heart , lord , and you will wash it in the crimson tide in the blood of Jesus , and will you wash me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet , lord , in the blood of Jesus . So , lord , this cup that we hold , this cup , the redemption cup . We thank you for redemption , we thank you for the blood of Jesus , we thank you for the eternal hope through the cross of Calvary . We thank you that the cross was the bridge between God and humanity .

Speaker 1

And when Jesus Christ said it is finished , the temple curtain was torn into . Hallelujah and Father , we had access . Do you realize , before we take this cup , this redemption cup , the third cup , the third cup on the Passover table , the cup of redemption , do you realize ? Do I actually realize , that when Jesus Christ said it is finished and the temple curtain was torn in two , it destroyed the darkness , it destroyed sickness and disease . He destroyed it . When he said it is finished , when the temple curtain was torn into , access became available to god . And how do we get to this triune godhead ? Jesus says I am the , the way , the truth and the life . No one comes to the Father except through me . So right now , lord , with my brothers and sisters around the world as we lock shields of faith . I thank you that this cup is symbolic to the blood of of Jesus . Cleanse me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet In Jesus' precious name , amen .
