thank you for joining us in our daily christian prayer podcast with myself , reverend ben cooper , and today , at this moment , at this hour , wherever you are across this world , we want to invite you to communion at home as we gather around the scripture for these moments , through god's word , his presence recorded live here in london , england . If this is blessing you , please can you consider supporting this ministry by three pound a month on , buy me a coffee finding this on rbchristianradionet and also can you leave us a review ? And , without further ado , let's get straight into this devotional time , this prayer time , communion at home and the title of what we're looking at for these moments around the gospel of hope , in these 15 minutes , this time where we can break bread and pray and bring everything to the cross of Calvary , following Jesus daily . The scripture reference is coming from the Gospel of Luke , chapter 9 , verse 23 . Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves , take up their cross daily and follow me . Wherever you are at this moment in time , I pray that the fire of god will strengthen you and the power of god will encourage you , and the scripture today will put you on fire . In the name of jesus , we're at communion at home . This is a privilege for myself to be able to share this with you , coming from this studio . You know here live in London , england , in the back of the church , that we are this little studio that we've got as we share
the word of God across the world .
Speaker 1These are recording and push straight out . We want to encourage you today that the fire of God is over you and wherever you are . Can you grab yourself a bit of bread and a bit of grape juice , because we're going to come to the table in about six or seven minutes time . Use this time at work . Maybe you can use this , this recording . You know , when you get home from work , maybe you've clicked in and you and you might be a bit curious to do this with your family and your friends . You , you don't need to do it with a crowd , you can do this on your own , just me and you . Just . It's that simple . And I want to encourage you now to break bread and have communion at home , communion at work , communion in a field , communion wherever you are , because when God gave this instruction to the Israelites all the way down through Moses and Aaron , guess what ? They was out in the open air . They didn't have a church building , it was no religious setting . God gave instruction about the Passover meal , that feast of unleavened bread . When you go to the Old Testament , to the great book of Exodus , chapter 12 , god gives instruction and I pray today that you will join me as we break bread , as we gather around the word , as we have a moment of prayer , me and you .
Speaker 1Whoever you are , wherever you are across the world , you know you might be outside , sit under a tree . You might be outside sitting on your patio table . You might be at work . You might be at school , in the classroom , in the staff room . You might be sitting in your vehicle . You might be on the train listening to this . You might be on the bus . You might be on the commute . You might be indoors , you know , having this played through the system , and you might be working and cleaning . You might be working on your car . You might be cutting the grass . You might be cutting the grass . You might be in the gym .
Speaker 1Whatever you are doing , you know we can break bread anywhere in the mighty name of Jesus Christ , because it's about remembering the Father , the Son , the Holy Spirit . It's not about this ritualistic act that the church has brought together . So let's pray together . Let's take some time now and let's pray , and let's bring these scriptures you . The gospel of luke , chapter 22 , verse 19 , says this is my body wishes for you . Do this in remembrance of me . So we're doing this in remembrance of the lord jesus christ , the gospel writer . Again we reference luke , chapter 9 , verse 23 .
Speaker 1Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves , pick up their cross daily and follow me . Lord , I come to you in prayer and , lord , will you help me to be a greater Jesus follower ? Teach me to deny myself and put you first in
every decision in my life . Strengthen me to take up my cross with courage , faith and the power of the living God Each day , each moment , each second of my life . Keep me from distractions . Yes , lord , Keep me from distractions that pull me away from you Social media , tv , sports , life itself . Come God , there are many distractions in our lives . Lord , keep me from the distractions that pull me away from you . Jesus , the stillness tells me everything . Help me to remember the cost of discipleship and to embrace it with full joy . Teach me to follow you in both mountaintop moments and valley experiences . Let me act in communion right now . Remind me of this daily , sacrificial way that I should be . Lord , help me to pick up my cross . Purify my heart that I may be devoted to you sincerely and unwavering .
Speaker 1Spirit of the living God , I ask you that you strengthen my voice today , lord . Help me through these recordings . Strengthen our bones today , lord , purify me . Lord , purify me today , help me to follow your voice above all the other voices in the world . And that reminds me , lord , of the Garden of Eden . Lord , I don't want to listen to the voice of Lucifer . Did God really say Are you sure , lord ? I want to know . Let my yes be yes , my no be no . Let me realize that to be a disciple , I've got to deny myself . Jesus , and help me to take up my cross daily and follow the King of glory . I love you , lord , but , lord , will you teach me , will you teach me , through the word , to deny myself and put you first in every decision in my life ? I need to be strengthened today , lord . Lord , prepare my heart as I come to the table , as I come to the throne of grace , as I come to the Passover time , as I break bread with my brothers and sisters across the globe , as I stand on the rock of all ages . Jesus , I love you , but strengthen me , lord .
Speaker 1This is really important to me today . I need the distractions removed . I need these earthly draws . I need these earthly pulls , I need these earthly connections , I need these earthly desires to go . Lord , I don't want the distraction of TV , social media , sports , the arena of life . I don't want the distraction of work and money and career . I don't want the distraction of church and religion . I don't want the distraction of ministry , I don't want the distraction of humanity , distraction of humanity .
Speaker 1Lord , help me to deny myself and put you first in every decision , in Jesus' name , because I want to be remembered , lord , as a Jesus follower . I want to be remembered that was someone that followed Jesus Christ . I want to be remembered that Ben Cooper not the pastor , not the chaplain , not the podcaster , not the author , not the leader , lord , I want to be remembered that Ben followed Jesus . So the distractions of religion , the distractions of ministry , the distractions that are around me , remove them from everyday life and help me to deny myself the flesh and what the world is offering and draw me to the cross of Calvary . To the cross of Calvary , lord , and I pray for my brothers , I pray for the friends that are across the other side of the earth , the brothers and sisters that are praying for us now and that are supporting us now . I pray for those that are going to break bread together with me in just a few moments . Lord , purify our hearts , give us clean hands and a pure heart . Give us clean hands , father , and a pure heart . Lord , I want to follow you . Lord , I want to be reminded and I want to be remembered . Lord , I want to be reminded firstly , lord , to seek you first , the kingdom of God , and I want to be remembered as someone that seeked first the kingdom of God . I want to be remembered as someone that seeked first the kingdom of God . I want to be remembered that Ben followed Jesus . He was radical in his faith , he believed in the word of God , he put God first in every decision in his life and he was a Jesus follower .
Speaker 1Friends , wouldn't
that be a great way to be remembered ? As a Jesus follower , as a Bible-believing believer , not as a churchgoer , not as a preacher or a teacher , but as a Jesus follower ? We're coming to the table and this is a beautiful time , this opportunity that we have together , and I want to encourage you , wherever you are , to get some bread , to get some wine or some grape juice , and just break this bread with me . Now , you know , live here in London , england , as we are gathered around the scripture and through the word of God . So the scripture that I'm going to read out is coming from the gospel of Luke , chapter 22 , verse 19 .
Speaker 1This is my body , which is for you . Do this in remembrance of me , father , the sisters and the brothers and the community that are before my voice , lord , as we break bread together . Lord , maybe it's their first time in years , in months , in hours , maybe it's their first time ever as being a Christian . So , lord , we take this bread and we recognize that this bread is just a symbol , and we hold this bread a moment and we say thank you that Jesus's body was broken for us . And wherever we are now , across the world , our time zone , our life , whatever life looks like in our lens , I thank you that you are calling every one of us , from every tribe , every tongue , every culture , every lifestyle , to break bread together .
Speaker 1Sister and brother , this is so powerful . We don't need to be in church , we don't need to be in the religious box called church , because there is freedom in Jesus . Are you ready to break bread with me now ? Are you ready just to pause , just for these moments ? I pray that you're able to take time out . As I sit and record this in this studio here , live in London , england , whatever your time zone is , I pray that the fire of God will be over you . So let's break bread together without further ado . Lord , I recognize that this is bread in itself , but I declare the glory of God and I speak the word over my life now , and I believe that this bread is symbolic to the body of the Lord Jesus Christ , the King of the Jews that went to the cross of Calvary . So as I break bread , I thank you that your body was given for me as an atoning sacrifice . I thank you that Jesus Christ is the sacrificial lamb . Bless this bread in Jesus' name . Amen . I hope you're okay . I do hope and pray you're well .
Speaker 1It's really important that we must remind ourselves . I don't need
the pastor or the bishop or the leader or the congregation , I don't need the system of church to tell me when I can break bread , because the bible gives me clear instruction . As often as we gather together , do this in my name . We've just broken bread and now we're going to take this cup and I'm going to read from 1 Corinthians , chapter 11 , verse 25 this is the cup of the new covenant in my blood . Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me . This covenant seals God's promises for forgiveness , healing eternal peace through the precious blood of the Lord Jesus .
Speaker 1Lord , as I sit in this studio , this empty studio but filled with your glory , as my brothers and sisters , as we engage together across the other side of the world , locally to the studio and far out , I thank you that we are part of the kingdom , far out . I thank you that we are part of the kingdom . And as that great writer wrote , paul the Apostle , I'm sorry that I can't be with you . I'm sorry I can't be with you in physical form , but I'm with you in spirit . That's beautiful . So let's take this cup . As I take this cup , cleanse me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet . Wash me in the crimson tide in the blood of Jesus . Forgive me of my sins . As I do this with Pastor Ben , as we stand at the throne of grace , cleanse me in Jesus' name . Amen . How beautiful , simple , quick and easy , not complicated , not religious , but freeing . God bless you wherever you are . We thank you for joining us today
on this beautiful time as we have gathered daily communion at home , a scripture-based prayer of faith renewal and worship wherever you are today . Thank you for joining us .
