We are in 1 Corinthians chapter 11, verse 23 to 26, and this is about remembrance. This is about communion.
This is something new that we're adding into the mix, and we're going to do this every Thursday at 11 o'clock at night, UK time. And what we're going to do is we're going to break bread together, and this is trying to hit everyone at home, at work, wherever you are across the world, just to let you know that we can break bread outside of the church. So here we go. We're in 1 Corinthians chapter 11, verse 23 and 26, and the title is Do This in Remembrance of Me. Communion Prayer for Bread, the Cup, Redemption, and the Passover
promise. Father, we thank you that we're able to break bread wherever we are across the world. And right now, Lord, as we call the listeners, as we invite the listeners in to this hour at 11 o'clock this Thursday evening here live in London, England. Father, we pray as we gather around 1 Corinthians chapter 11, verse 23 to 26. Father, we pray for an outpouring of your spirit. And Lord, I pray for all those, dear God, that can't get to church and can't break bread, dear God, and can't seem to get out of the house because of social anxiety or because of the craziness and the busyness of life, but long to take bread. So, Father, as we gather around the Passover table right now, wherever we are around the world, Father, as we gather in homes, quiet rooms, small groups, nighttime prayer of these moments, dear God, as we're with family, friends, Lord, wherever we are across the world, even if we are on our own, Father, we thank you that we're able to break bread together. Lord, as myself and Alex are in the studio right now, we're going to break bread and as we come to the table, Father, in the name of Jesus, as we pray through 1 Corinthians chapter 11, verse 23 to 26.
This is what the Bible says. The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread. This is my body. This is my cup in the new covenant, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Father, in the name of Jesus, Father, we thank you that this bread, Lord, as you prepare us, dear God, in the name of Jesus, Father, this bread is symbolic to the body of Christ. Father, this cup is a redemption cup. And wherever we are across the world, Father, we prepare ourselves, Lord. And actually, Lord, we can never prepare ourselves, but Lord, we prepare ourselves in a way where we grab a bit of bread, we grab a bit of juice, a bit of grape juice, a bit of riben or whatever it is, just a bit of pitter bread. Wherever you are, I want to encourage you right now to break bread with us in just a few moments. You can do it in your own speed, you can do it whenever you want. But as we gather across the world right now, quiet rooms, small groups, prayer time, you know, as we gather around the word of God, you know, wherever we are, from London to Johannesburg, from Johannesburg to Singapore, from Singapore to Toronto, Sydney, everywhere around the world. We want to invite you, and we gather you in right now. We invite you to this communion prayer, this Passover reflection time, as we just gather this redemption cup. Come on, let's
pray. Father, in the name of Jesus. Tonight, we remember Calvary, the cross, forgiveness, mercy, and the love of Jesus Christ. Father, we remember that there is power in the greatest name in heaven and earth. And right now, Lord, Father, we just pray for an outpouring of your spirit over our lives. And Father, we want to focus on the cross. We want to focus on forgiveness. We want to focus, dear God, on ourselves at this moment in time, Lord. Not in a selfish way, but Lord, just getting ourselves right. For Father, as we break this bread right now, we believe that this bread is symbolic to the body of Christ. And as we break this bread together now in our own time, maybe a bit before me, maybe after me, whenever it may be. But Father, we hold this bread and we break this bread, and we thank you that this bread is symbolic to the body of Christ. And right now, at the Passover, the Lord's Supper, we come before you and we just pause in the busyness of life and we say, Father, forgive me, for I'm a sinner saved by grace. But Lord, I thank you that I can stay at home, I can be at work, I can be in the van, I can be at school, I can be at my desk, I can be wherever I need to be, and just be able to break bread. So right now, Lord, as we break this bread together, we recognize it's bread in itself, but it's symbolic to the body of Christ. So Father, bless this bread in Jesus' name. Father, also we thank you for this cup, the redemption cup. We believe that this is just ribena, this is just grape juice, it is what it is in this cup. But Father, what it represents is something that is so powerful, and that is the blood of Jesus. So Father, we thank you for the redemption cup right now. And as we lift this cup, as it's symbolic, as Christ was in the Garden of Gethsemane, and he said, If it's possible, take this cup from me, the redemption cup. But Father, we thank you that Christ fulfilled the old and the new scriptures. And as we break this bread and as we take this cup now, Father, we thank you for the power of forgiveness. So Lord, cleanse me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet. Wash me in the blood of Jesus right now. Amen. Sisters and brothers, it's so simple. We just want to keep it real. You know, and we pray right now as we break in bread at your own time, as you're breaking bread together with your family, your friends, wherever you are, even if you're on your own tonight. You know, this is something that is not uh necessarily instilled by the church in the correct way.
But we're just gonna start to introduce this every Thursday evening at 11 p.m. It will be released, we'll be recording it, it's live, and then we'll be pushing it out, bang out at 11 o'clock. So we just want to encourage you now, you know, something very different. Once a week, we're gonna gather to break bread and we're gonna take at a cup because it's a commandment from Jesus Christ. And you go all the way back into the book of Exodus, chapter 12, read Exodus chapter 12, and it will tell you about you know the Passover Lamb. So we're doing what the Bible says. Forget church, forget religion, forget all the doctrines and the different hissy fits that are out there and all that rasmataz.
