Welcome to Daily Prayer with myself, Reverend Ben Cooper, wherever you are in the world, thank you for making daily prayer part of your life and part of the day. Wherever you are across this beautiful world, the love of God is in your life, and we're going to jump straight
into prayer. And we're in Psalms 4, verse 8. And the title is Jesus: Settle My Spirit and Let Me Sleep in Peace Tonight. Father, we come to you right now, Lord, at this hour. Lord, at these early doors, Father, as one day is finishing and another day is starting to rise. Lord, we pray, Holy Spirit, that you will give us rest at this hour, that we will find a place to rest our hearts, our minds, and our bodies and our souls. But Lord, we lean into the word of God and we lean into Jesus right now. And Lord, there's only one place we can go. And Lord, you tell us whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust. Jesus, as this day closes and the night settles in, I come to you right now, and we are seeking
rest. Lord, in the quietness and the stillness. Lord, the activity of the day has stopped, but my mind is still racing. Lord, the children are in bed. Lord, the house is quiet. Lord, the rhythm of life is closing down. It's getting quiet physically, but Lord, mentally it's still very loud. And Lord, I need you to hear my cry right now.
Lord, we're worried about the price of diesel and oil. Lord, we're worried about the gas and the electric, the shipping lanes. We're worried about what is going to happen next. But Lord, help us not to worry, but help us to seek ye first the kingdom of God. And will you remind us through the beautiful book of Psalms 4, verse 8? In peace I will lie down and sleep. For you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Holy Spirit, we need safety. We need your presence. We need your mercy. You tell us, whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I pray for every heart that's with me. Father, from the four corners of this earth, wherever we are right now, Lord, we stretch out, Lord, broadcasting from London all the way to Manila, all the way, dear God, to Bangkok, all the way, dear God, to Tokyo, Taiwan, Lord, Hong Kong. Father, we come to you right now and we pray right through the Middle East that your love and your mercy and your saving grace will carry us through this day. Lord, we rest under your shadow. We rest under your protection. But Lord, life can be scary. And Lord, we ask you right now that you will carry us from the battlefield to the war zones of life.
Lord, we got fatigue. We got money fatigue. We got financial fatigue. Lord, we're tired. Our brains are always, Lord, like a live calculator, working money out, working the bills out, working every scenario out. Lord, we're just doing mathematics on life every day. And Lord, we need peace. So, Father, from the four corners of this world, from the battles, from the worries, from the fears, dear God, I pray that we will close the laptop on today. Lord, that we will just close the laptop, dear God, and unplug it from the wall. Lord, and we will just rest. We will close our eyes. Lord, that we'll turn the phone off. Lord, that we will turn the device off and we will come to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. And we will find a place to rest. So Lord, I ask you right now that you will remove these night anxieties. Lord, that you will protect us at this hour. Lord, that we will find
a place to rest. So Jesus, settle my spirit and let us sleep in peace tonight. Come, Holy Father, wherever you are, Lord God, I thank you that you are the Lion of Judah. Bless every listener from the crown of their head to the sole of their feet. Well, without further ado, come on, let's follow me to the next prayer. Come on. Bless them in the name of Jesus. Amen.
