Welcome to Daily Prayer with myself, Reverend Ben Cooper, wherever you are in the world, thank you for making daily prayer part of your life and part of your day. We're going to pray across the globe at this hour. We're going to lock in, we're going to stay connected. We are tired. We are weary. We've had a long old stretch, but Jesus Christ is with every one of us. We're praying for restoration, we're praying for safety, and we're praying for peaceful
rest. But this is the title coming out of the great book of Psalms, The Prayers of David, chapter 4, verse 8. Jesus, let me lie down in peace and sleep safely under your covering tonight.
Holy God, we come to you. Lord, it's been a fierce day today. Lord, we've had a lot of wobbles on the journey of work, of life, or family, just the scenarios under the sun. And Lord, as the sun has set, dear God, for many hours over London. Lord, as the curtains are closing right now on the day. Lord, and as our eyes are closing, Lord, our eyes are tired, our eyelids are flickering. And Lord, we need you. Father, we need to rest in complete and absolute peace. Holy God, Jehovah Jirah, Jehovah Nissi, help us to sleep, Lord, in calmness. Lord, will you bring calm to our heart? Lord, we lean into Psalms 4, verse 8. In peace I will lie down and sleep. For you alone, Lord, make me dwell in
safety. Lord, I want to lock into John 3.16, because Lord, when I'm really tired and I can't pray and I get tongue-tied and I get a little bit wobbly, Lord, I just want to remind myself and all the listeners across the world of John 3.16. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Father, we thank you that whatever goes on in our lives, Father, we are saved. And Lord, as this night deepens, Lord, as the curtains close on our day, Lord, we come to you, Lord, and we just want to lay everything down at the cross. Lord, what is for sure for sure in our lives is you, Jesus. Is Lord that you never leave us nor forsake us.
So Lord, I ask that you will help us to release this tension. Lord, every anxiety, thought, every area of disturbance. Father, the wrestles that we've had today, Lord, the bear of life, Lord, that big grizzly bear that has been in front of us, Lord. We've been wrestling at work, we've been wrestling at home, wrestling it with social media. Lord, we've just been wrestling our way through the day. And Lord, we are tired, our muscles are aching, we are weary. But Lord, as we come to the end of this day, Lord, as the curtains close on this day for us very, very soon, Lord, we ask you, Lord, as the rain continues to fall, Lord, as the moon continues to shine, Lord, that you will take us into deep truth and deep rest. Lord, we thank you that you love us unconditionally. And whatever we are facing, whatever we are going through, however we feel, Lord, however we walk emotionally, Lord, I pray that we won't walk in our emotions, we will walk in faith. But right now, Lord, will you give us resurance? Lord, will you give us safety? Will you give us a peaceful rest? Jesus, let us lie down in peace and sleep safely under the covering of you tonight.
Lord, as we stretch out from London all the way to China, from China all the way to Hong Kong, from Hong Kong all the way to Taiwan, from Taiwan all the way to Indonesia, from Indonesia, the Philippines. Lord, we are looking for your love and your power. And Lord, we need a peaceful rest in the name of Jesus. Father, from the battlefields to the boardroom, to the field of life, Father, from the field of life to the dance of life, to the skip of life, to the crawl of life, Father, to every scenario under the sun. Lord, give us peace in the greatest name in heaven and earth.
May God bless you and God is carrying you. Don't ever give up. Come on, join me at the next prayer.
