Welcome to Daily Prayer with myself, Reverend Ben Cooper, wherever you are in the world, thank you for making daily prayer part of your life and part of the rhythm of your day. Come on, we're tired, we're weary. It is the night prayer, and we are locking into the great book of Psalms 3. This is the title, Jesus. I lie down in peace because you sustain me and hold me. What sort of a day you had, I welcome every one of you and I thank God for every one of you. Thank you for your downloads. Thank you for staying with us. We are in the night prayer. Come on, let's lock in.
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for peace, safety, and deep rest as this night settles in. Holy God, Jehovah Jirah, Father, we thank you that the battle belongs to the Lord. But Lord, the battles we've come through, the trials we've come through, the fears, Lord, that are rattling round our heart, our mind, and our head right now. Father, I pray that as we try to rest, Lord, as the curtains come to close of this day, Lord, through this night prayer, Lord, as we gently move forward to the midnight hour, Lord, wherever we are, from the battlefield to the boardroom, from the boardroom to the washing machine to the scaffold, to every area of our lives, to the commute, to every situation, to just standing at the sink washing up, to ironing, to gardening. Father, whatever we've done today, I pray, Lord, that you will give us peace. Lord, we
need peace. Father, we cannot keep locking on to this news. Father, this news keeps changing all the time. I don't know where we are, I don't know what to believe. Lord, I want to read the Bible. Lord, I want to get back into the word. Lord, we want to get into the rhythm of prayer. Lord, we want to get into the rhythm of worship. Lord, as we lay in bed, Lord, as we stand right now and wash up. Lord, as we make a cup of tea, Lord, as we tidy up after the family after a fierce day. Lord, as we hang the washing on, dear God, that that situation, dear God, on life. Lord, as we hang our
washing out, Father God, for the world to see. Oh my God. Lord, the washing on the washing line. Lord, as the world looks at us, spirit of the living God, I pray, dear God, that everyone looks at us, Lord God. Holy God that you are. Gracious God that you are. Lord, we're looking for peace. We're looking for safety. Lord, as we hang the washing out. Father, Lord, as everyone sees everything in our lives. Lord, as people peer in and look and make judgment over our lives. Father, I pray that we won't live our lives according to what people say about us. But Lord, that we will find peace in Jesus Christ. Lord, I ask you, Lord, for the conversations we've had today. Lord, for the battles we've had, for those gentle, quiet conversations. Father, for those areas where we've had to almost defend ourselves through the day. Lord, where people are looking at our washing, our lives, hanging up for public display. Lord, I pray that people will not judge us and keep talking about what's been hanging out on the washing line of life. But Lord, that you will give us peace. From the battlefield to the washing line of life, to the spin drier of life, dear God, to the work of life, to the school run, to the battles. Lord, this night prayer we need peace. We need safety from the world. Father, people keep looking over our fence and trying to tell us how to live. Lord, we want to live according to the rhythm of the word of God. So, Lord, give us deep rest as this night settles in. Lord, we're closing our curtains on the neighbors, we're closing the curtains on the world, we're closing the curtains on life, and Lord, we just
want to rest now because we're tired. And at this hour, give us strength. Father, remind us, Lord, as we lie down and sleep, we wake again because the Lord sustains us. Psalms 3, verse 5. I will lie down and sleep. I will wake again because the Lord sustains us. Father, sustain us through the midnight hour. God bless you. The Spirit of the Lord is over you. Don't ever, ever give up.
