Welcome to Daily Prayer with myself, Reverend Ben Cooper, wherever you are in the world. Thank you for making daily prayer part of your life and part of your day. Come on, it is the night prayer. We're praying for protection, covering, and safety as we enter into the rest.
This is the title of this prayer, and it's coming out of the book of Psalms 121. Jesus, watch over me. Jesus, watch over me and keep me safe as I enter into this night. Father, we come to you.
Lord, as we look at the news, we watch the weather, Lord, we listen to the sound of the rhythm of the world. Lord, the seasons of life. Whatever season we're in, Lord, as we watch the seasons, dear God, of the natural weather system, Lord, we just look at our season that we're in right now. And Father, Lord, if we're in the winter, Father, protect us. Lord God, if we're in the summer season where it's really hot and scorching, protect us. Lord, if we're in the autumn where we're crossing over from one season to another, Lord, protect us. And Lord, if we're in the spring, Father God, that gentle spring weather, Lord, we pray. Whatever season of life we are in right now, watch over us. But Father, we come to you, watch over us and keep us safe as we enter into this
night. Father, we stretch out from the four corners of the world. Lord, we need protection, we need safety. Lord, we need this fear to go of the evening of the night. And as we gather around the word of God, protect us while we sleep. Lord, we need your love, your mercy, your saving grace. And Lord, we pray through Psalm 121.
The Lord will keep you from all harm. He will watch over your life. Father, I thank you that you watch over our lives. Lord, from the early days, dear God, to the later days, to the mornings, to the afternoons. Lord, whatever the rhythm, whatever the situation, Lord, we pray for this night prayer, that you will protect us, Lord, as this night, dear God, is starting to hold us tight. Lord, will you take the pressure off of ourselves? Lord, will you cover us in your love? Lord, will you stretch out and just, Lord God, just wrap us up at this hour? Lord, we want anxiety to go. We want the fear to go. Lord, we want to feel the joy of the Lord. Lord, I pray right now that you will guard our thinking, that you will guard our mind in all corners of our lives. Lord, we want to rest tonight. We want to get a full night's sleep. Lord, we want to rest at this hour. Whatever the drumbeat is, whatever the drive is, whatever our situation is, in the name of Jesus. I thank you that we are safe and we are protected. That the love of God is over our lives. Guard me in all of our ways. Guard us, Lord, protect us. Whatever this rhythm has been today. Lord, as our eyelids are closing, Father, as the curtains are closed on this hour. Lord, this night prayer is for protection, covering. And Lord, that we will find a safe
rest. Lord, as we stretch out from London all the way to Saint Paulo, all the way to Miami, all the way to Brisbane, all the way back to Lisbon, the Canada, Lord. Father, we are praying for Brazil and Chile, that there will be an outbreak of your love in our personal lives. And Jesus, we pray. Lord, we need to rest. We are tired and we are weary. Lord, from the laptop of today, Lord, from work from
life. Lord, I pray that we will close the laptop, that we will stop working right now, that we will stop scrolling on social media right now. Lord, that we will stop doing what we're doing and we will just breathe and say, Jesus, Lord, through this night prayer, will you guide us? Will you lead us? Will you protect us? Father, I pray for every listener wherever they are, from the battles to the good sides, to the bad sides, to the ins and the outs of life, to the four seasons of life.
Holy Spirit, Lord, I pray, Jesus, watch over us and keep us safe as we enter into this night. In the beautiful name of Jesus Christ, you're going to sleep well. God bless.
