Welcome to Daily Prayer with myself, Reverend Ben Cooper, wherever you are in the world, thank you for making daily prayer part of your life and part of your day. As we lock across the globe, as we come to the end of this day, you know, as our eyelids close, as the curtains close on today, this night prayer. Thank you for joining us through this night devotional time together.
Let's lock straight into Psalms 91. This is the title. Jesus, cover me with your peace and let me rest safely tonight. Holy Spirit, how true is that? Lord, we want to rest safely in God's presence. Lord, it's been a fierce day. Lord, this night prayer, we're looking, dear God, that we will sleep well in Jesus' name. Lord, we need night protection. We need the safety of God. We need the peace before we sleep. Lord, we're a little bit anxious. It's been a long day today. Lord, we got a bit of fatigue, a bit of battle fatigue, a bit of work fatigue, life fatigue. We're exhausted in many areas of life.
Father, we got many plates spinning. And Lord, we ain't got the energy to keep those plates spinning. Lord, we're wearing a little bit tired right now. But Lord, I ask you that, Jesus, that you will cover me, cover us with your peace, your love, your mercy, your grace, and we will find rest in your love tonight. Father, you are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
You are the great I am. And Lord, we walk through and we pray through Psalm 91, verse 1. Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust. Father, I pray that we will find that deposit of peace. Lord, that you will put that deposit, dear God, in our heart of peace. Lord, that we will feel, dear God, the latter-day rain, like the spring rain, the summer day rain, Lord, when it's been hot and dry and we are parched. Lord, I pray it will feel like we've just had a bottle of water for the first time of the day. Lord, where we can't stop drinking. Lord, where we feel that refreshing presence of the water.
But Lord, as night settles in, as we try and find a place of quiet, Lord, I ask you, Lord, whatever season of life we are in, we will close the laptop on work. We will close the laptop on life today. And Lord, that we will breathe, that we will find the tension is gone, the restless thoughts are going. Lord, the concerns are not lingering anymore. Lord, I pray that we will lean into Jesus. I pray, Lord, that we will open up the word of God. Lord, if our hearts are troubled, Lord, bring peace. Lord, we are not going to allow fear. We are not going to be dictated by the rhythm of war, by the rhythm, dear God, of money and the doubt and the uncertainty that is across the globe. Jesus, as night settles in, we come to you right now and we believe in miracles.
And Lord, I pray, Lord, as we stretch out from London all the way to France, all the way to Belgium, from Belgium, all the way to Germany to Spain. Lord, we pray for Europe. We pray for an outpouring of your love right the way through the South Americas, right the way through Latin America, right the way through every town, every village, every tribe. Lord, every area of life, every human being, Lord, we pray. Lord, as the night drops in, Lord, as our eyelids are tired, Lord, we believe that Psalm 91 is over our lives. Jesus, we need safety. We need a place of rest. Will you cover us tonight with your love, your grace? Your Jesus, we just come to you right now. Lord, we are tired and we are weary. Lord, I pray that we will find a place to settle.
And the rhythm of God and John 3, 16, Lord, will just rattle through our bones right now. For God so loved the world. Father, I thank you that you love us unconditionally. Sisters and brothers, don't ever give up. I know you're tired, I know you're weary. God is with each and every one of us. I will catch you at the next prayer.
