Hello and welcome to our podcast here at Elim church in Swanley. You're joining myself Reverend Benjamin Leonard Cooper and we are so glad to have you with us this afternoon and we are discussing the 10 commandments and we have leya in front of us today. Jane more Leya Jane more.
Leya:That's right. That's my middle name is Yeah,
Reverend Ben Cooper:I don't know your middle name is
Leya:Jane Tallulah,
Reverend Ben Cooper:Tallulah in French.
Leya:My name is to Lula now.
Reverend Ben Cooper:We are in the podcast and little room in the ATM church here in Swanee. And we are asking our sisters and brothers around the world to share and to push these podcasts. Come on, let's go. Let's go viral.
Leya:I want to go viral.
Reverend Ben Cooper:There's no virus.
Leya:I don't wanna go virus. Now.
Reverend Ben Cooper:It's Saturday afternoon. I've had enough of this virus. Saturday afternoon and we want we want we want we want to be clean.
Leya:We want good times.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Good times. It's good to have you with us. We are looking in the book of Exodus and we are immediate what was Christmas? What Christmas
Leya:we've just been. We've just gone through Christmas and New Year. It was close.
Reverend Ben Cooper:It was it was closed. It was really really busy shop was busy. We just had Christmas day off. When I saw the shop I mean the food, the food hub, you grow food project, you know serving the community and all that being really really busy. We thank God for tescos Marks and Spencers Aldi, you know, and we praise God for them. The families that come and on a Sunday night, as we get the food out is free. We work with fair share and neighborly. And it's great just to be able to push the food out nice to give it we are not Trussell trust, we're not a food bank. We are an emergency food stop that will get people through a few days. So we are fighting food waste and food hunger. It's interesting projects great project. So yeah, it was a good Christmas. Very busy Christmas. And it's just gone. Gone. Gone. Frank Lord disappeared.
Leya:Feather Lord is gone.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Thank the Lord. Thank the Lord. It's
Leya:gone. Yeah. Because I know so many people had so much pressure on their shoulders for Christmas. Yeah, and Andrew. And they're just like, Thank the Lord because we can carry on now. We can carry on same same layout. That's the day my baby boy was born. What are you doing? Why saver? New Year's gone. 2020s out the window. Job. 121 mean job on 2020 2020 ello 21.
Reverend Ben Cooper:You are joining us at the beginning of a new lockdown. Exactly. And there has been some long faces around the nation. But they've got it for us who can be against
Leya:I met in men.
Reverend Ben Cooper:It's good to have you with us. And we wish your Christmas.
Leya:It was pretty pants.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I know that
Leya:was enforced. I sort of thanks for that. I was in forced isolation from Christmas Eve until the day I had to be back at work on what was the last podcast we
Reverend Ben Cooper:done Christmas week.
Leya:You are not alone. It was literally like podcasting for myself.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I know. Everything we discussed the week leading up to Christmas. On that podcast was everything you experienced. Yeah.
Leya:And you didn't know that was gonna happen. No, I didn't know. I didn't know. I could have done it, of course. But at the end of Christmas Day, I felt the Lord for getting me through it. And then
Reverend Ben Cooper:every day It must have been tough.
Leya:Well, it is because I live alone.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Now you don't you got another for
Leya:another free.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Come on. Yeah, I got another free with me and 1000s of angels.
Leya:Oh, yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:You gotta be careful in mind who's in a Boris finds out? I tell you what, even even many people in your house. Yeah,
Leya:it's gonna happen. I'm pretty sure. Because that's still there now. I'll get rid of him.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Quite a good load.
Leya:Yeah. So it was one of those. It was one of those kind of times but you know what? You you lean in a garden to get through it.
Reverend Ben Cooper:No, that's right.
Leya:And now we're in a everybody in the whole country is in lockdown. Yeah. And it's, it is the heaviest kind of lockdown. We're in Tier five. All of us.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Wow.
Leya:Tear,
Reverend Ben Cooper:tear. And then it's gonna go tighter. And tighter.
Leya:Yeah, until we're all vaccinated. And I did a thing today to find out when I'll be vaccinated. vaccinated. December 2021. That's when I'll be vaccinated.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Sure, yeah.
Leya:Yeah. You can go online, there's a test that you can do and you put in your age. Yeah, and all your health conditions, etc. And then it tells you when you're likely to be vaccinated. And because of who I am and the fact that my body's a temple, it's going to be December 20.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I'm supposed to come back and then come out at 23rd
Leya:Yeah, now you go.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I don't make enough.
Leya:Exactly. So when we're all vaccinated, I can't wait. I can't wait. But at the moment, we're in this lockdown. So just so you know, and we're not rambling randomly. I over Christmas I've been looking into Exodus powerful, which I'd started looking into at the beginning of our last podcast. Yeah. And I use a powerful, I say, What a story.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, very.
Leya:I'm surprised Steven Spielberg isn't directing this. It's amazing.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I know. But there are there is there's been a lot of films out there wasn't a bad Exodus, but they always ramped up into some. But if you just follow the the real book, the real story, it's even better. It's even better Hollywood could ever produce. It
Leya:was a bit like, Where's Charlton Heston? But then I realized he was at a national rifle association meeting so good, like it isn't a shotgun. But the thing is, what I found really interesting about it and how it relates to where we are now we're in lockdown. Yes, they was in lockdown. Yep, there was all crime and stuff and that Moses was definitely a judge.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Unbelievable.
Leya:We're in a situation where there's no such thing as society at the moment is there because there isn't a society on the street? There isn't. We've got to try and police each other and be kind to each other.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. Love and try and help each other. Try and respect one another. Exactly. try and encourage one another. To keep the measures we must keep the measures we must follow what's going on exactly is important. It really is important to follow the guidelines of what our friends at number 10 are doing.
Leya:It's not just that, oh, it's about the more the more social things I'm talking about about being good to one another taking care of each other. Okay.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Above all the above all
Leya:political stuff.
Reverend Ben Cooper:The greatest smile Hmm. Oh, you can see each other.
Leya:Unless you can get no masks. I've got smiles on it.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Oh my god, I'm a big cash.
Leya:You can get your your face printed onto a mask. Smile. Yeah. How cool was that? Could they do it in China or something? Anyway,
Reverend Ben Cooper:anyway.
Leya:So I really liked I was listening to it. When I was in Excel, lockdown. Exactly. And then there was this section where they were talking about how Moses was having to be the judge of all the people like Deborah was spoken about a judge with Yeah, yeah. And but he was having to judge everybody. So he spent all of his time judging people and then he couldn't take care of people. He was like, he was not afraid by this point or something. He was a tired little old man
Reverend Ben Cooper:in the desert on his frame.
Leya:Yeah. And somebody said, You know what, Moses? You don't have to be the judge of everybody. Why don't you see if there are some roles, and then people can follow those rules themselves in their lives? And they can judge as well. Yeah. And then if there are disputes that they can't resolve, then you can resolve them. So Charlton Heston I mean, Moses went to the top of a hill. Yes, I don't. I'm sort of a little bit rusty on it, because it was a little while though. There's a burning bush out there. And the 10 Commandments were given. That's the film version. And the 10 commandments are those rules. Yes, that people can make their own judgments by
Reverend Ben Cooper:so the biblical reference, Charlton Heston, the biblical reference, is the gospel of Charleston chapter 20. Now there's a lovely Cirrus chip Tessa
Leya:Charlton Heston impression. Again, Chuck.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I'm not sure if that's any good. It sounds like so it's good. Right? The biblical reference, a biblical reference for all the theologians listening out there is Exodus chapter 20, where we find the 10 commandments.
Leya:That's a Bob Marley song in Exodus. Exodus.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, come on. We're full of it. Sadly, I'm sorry. Can
Leya:you say that again? Because I did
Reverend Ben Cooper:write far. It's no problem. I promise Saturday, Exodus chapter 20. We will find Exodus chapter 20. And we will find what was given to Moses to put on the tablets.
Leya:Yeah, Moses wrote them on the tablet.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, Moses wrote on the tablets,
Leya:did he? Yeah, but tablets are only really tiny and they come in
Reverend Ben Cooper:a tablet couple of Advil, or was it seven or shall I say he wrote them on stone tablets
Leya:are not like the tablets you
Reverend Ben Cooper:know, not the tablets you swallow nor the tablets that we refer to
Leya:ads and these tablets with the elements are probably better for your health. Just say
Reverend Ben Cooper:Oh, You're on you. Oh, goodness gracious me. What can we say listeners? She's on it today. So Exodus, I will repeat myself, he prayed to 20 and you will find what was given the clear instructions from God to Moses. And if you look at the 10 commandments, when you just ask God, don't put me in a pressure
Leya:did we live? did Moses pray to God to be given the commandments?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Moses was just given instructions. So he was given the instruction, so there was no praying involved in that.
Leya:I mean, I was gonna just gonna ask a stupid question. How did God know? Obviously?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. Okay, so anyway, the 10 commandments number one.
Leya:This is one that you do a lot of sermons about. Do don't worship other gods.
Reverend Ben Cooper:You shall not have any other gods before me. Yeah, no way
Leya:you would. I think you're doing the King James Version. I haven't I'm doing the American version. Oh, yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Trump version
Leya:do not know I'm doing the Charlton Heston version, oh, you worship any other gods.
Reverend Ben Cooper:no other gods before me.
Leya:Man. So true, isn't it? As long as the God of money before the God of law, God
Reverend Ben Cooper:of the world, how many? When we say gods, they're such lesser gods, then their God. So but they are completely of the wrong side of the cross. So when you when God says do not serve any other gods, there is no one is equal. They are lesser. So when you say wherever they come from, they've obviously come from Lucifer when Lucifer was kicked out of heaven and the fallen angels and then we understand what goes along with that but
Leya:then also the fallen angels these people had come from Egypt where there was like 20,000 Gods
Reverend Ben Cooper:like the gods are up and they make this up they make up mythology and all that Egyptian sort of stuff going on to tu tu tu tu casa is nine to 10 common worship Tim
Leya:Yeah, that's the thing my worship Gods I think there's a lot of things that we worship
Reverend Ben Cooper:as idol worship, if you lift up anything if you football stars, rugby musician any any anything there are a lot but we don't but we gotta be careful of is when we say are a worship or I think we you have to be careful because when you're looking at what God is talking about here when you're talking about Gods, you're talking about satanic you can have a great you can follow a great musician you can feel it's okay to to freak out. They're fantastic. They're really Yeah, no, that's odd. You know what, I'm gonna be different completely here. But then if you look, I don't know,
Leya:people worship money.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I don't that is a power and the God of the forest, the God of the sun, the stars, fertility Gods swach Isabel to a
Leya:church, I went to a church, it was just I don't know why. I went to a church, church and local area, which shall not be named.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Okay. And
Leya:there. There was a Green Man on the wall in the church. And I'm like, What are you doing there? somewhere else in the grounds. There was a horseshoe hanging on the wall. And I was like, sorry,
Reverend Ben Cooper:you know, so was it a carbon? So was the Green Man a carving in the structure of the church fabric?
Leya:No, it wasn't no it'd been added to the look like a decoration like a hanging within when you say green man are you
Reverend Ben Cooper:referring to a man you know the Green Man the Green Man with the beard like with with all the stuff coming out of it?
Leya:All the hair? Ivy it was actually in the church. Yeah. And there was a medieval one and then there was another one
Reverend Ben Cooper:because that's what was done was in the in medieval days when then churches were built they they said right okay, just in case God doesn't really exist. Let's make a god god of the forest, the Green Man very obey. She
Leya:said, Well, actually, what they were doing was they were trying to entice people into the new religion. So they said we'll incorporate a bit of the old religion. And you come in and you can say that Yeah, we work the out. We have the Green Man in our church, but
Reverend Ben Cooper:now it's all black got. The Green Man is a God that is lift lifted up, ya know? And it is quiet. And there are lots of churches around kin. There's a lot of churches around kin that have the green man called into the fabric of the building and there are a lot of vicars and ministers that don't need No they exist in the church. Yeah. And I was looking after a gentleman when I say looking after palliative care as a chaplain, I am in the hospice. And I got in conversation with him and he wrote a book on the Green Man. Yeah. And he was a pagan good all the way around Ken locating the green man and he said a lot of a lot of them were found on the pulpit at the bottom and no one really could see them because you would just look at that and go Wow, look at this building beautiful. carved in the fabric of foreign God.
Leya:Yeah. I've seen him before whether Yeah, literally it was to the to the left hand side of the pulpit.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, the altar. The altar.
Leya:There was a Green Man in the in the wall. But this was not this was something that had been added as a piece of decoration.
Reverend Ben Cooper:been added. Yeah.
Leya:If I go to this is gonna sound really crap. If I go to a garden center. Yeah, you can go there and you can get like Green Man statues.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Exactly. Okay, God, one can't get a good one. It's like you go rock. I put my Christmas tree up. I've got a gun by a star. You can buy fairy? Yeah, but trying to find a biblical star to put on the tree isn't difficult.
Leya:There was a local supermarket in spawn a
Reverend Ben Cooper:nice big one. We began with i o both from beginning by
Leya:Yeah, well, this one actually green for letters. You know, they're by far fall. But they had they had multiple stars in the one
Reverend Ben Cooper:opposite.
Leya:Yeah. They're all opposite. There. was an Esther's in America. That's Walmart. Walmart. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:invoice.
Leya:You, gates. I don't know why. I'm sorry. Get my chariot. No, it's not working. Yeah, in so they had stars. Here, you could pull the top up ones as some golden ones. Wow. I think I speak to a lot of people. And I think fate was going back to Christmas this year, just saying,
Reverend Ben Cooper:I think they're showing a world. Anyway, how do we digress to this?
Leya:Now number one,
Reverend Ben Cooper:but you know what, there are 1000s and 1000s of gods or they're not Gods because they're not God. So they just
Leya:little j, little j
Reverend Ben Cooper:little, little things.
Leya:No j gods. And also, I do think that in our society now, Satan uses things like money makes that into a little Cheerio gods. Yeah, material gods. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah.
Leya:How much? The power structure that's what they want.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. And then you continue go back in the old Well, we're still in the Old Testament, stay there a moment you go back to the Tower of Babel. When they when they made the Tower of Babel and they want they wanted to elevate themselves. And so let's get to heaven. I've got
Leya:to say this is one of the things that really interests me that the Bible that's how I know the story very well.
Reverend Ben Cooper:We'll do that another one. Yeah, let's do this with Tara Bible is a real, real interesting structure
Leya:book is a
Reverend Ben Cooper:book of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Charlton Heston,
Leya:get in the back of the babor.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Cover that next time, we're running out of time. So let's go on to the next one, shall we? Same thing continued for look at the theme that follows you shall not You shall not make idols
Leya:do not make any idols. Yeah. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So that so right, so one. So if you're worshiping from God's you'll, most of the time, you will find there will be a structure or a symbol of that God.
Leya:Yeah. So what I've looked into this, and what they said was that when it talks about idols, it talks about images of God. So if you start worshipping a picture of God, you're not worshiping God. You're worshiping a picture.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. And that's what is worship. Yeah,
Leya:that's why if you go to a Jewish church, well, they called
Reverend Ben Cooper:synagogue,
Leya:they don't have any pictures at all on the walls anyway. The way they worship God is through the design of the building and
Reverend Ben Cooper:so he can, you can easily get idols in your life kinda
Leya:holy.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Look at that TV program that's on them on the you know, in the singing one
Leya:pop idol.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Pop Idol. American Idol. idol. Yeah, exactly. worshiping something. God
Leya:when you're a child, or when you're a teenager. Oh, it's like, promoted to put posters on your walls. Oh, that's my idol. Yeah, at screen savers on your phone.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. of your idol.
Leya:Yeah, and that has become a business how many 1000s
Reverend Ben Cooper:of years ago that word idol was around. Yeah. And how many people don't realize what it actually is. The spiritual
Leya:it literally is a fake representation of something to be worshipped. So nowadays you have these pop bands and such are supposed to be idols idolized. But there's a money making machine.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And then you come into that it doesn't it doesn't it doesn't it doesn't. And then you shall not take the name of the Lord, your God invite this one I'm not talking about that one really wants me up. I'm a tom shear.
Leya:Oh, it makes me so cross.
Reverend Ben Cooper:You don't hit any. Any other name being mentioned? We won't even go there on that one.
Leya:Do you know what I used to? Probably when I was younger, I would did it. become a Christian? You started out whenever I hear it. And I hear it all the time you and it feels like all of my friends have gone. Not on purpose. But it feels like everybody in the whole world has gone. She's a Christian. Now we can say every time
Reverend Ben Cooper:because you've come spiritually sensitive to the word. That's true.
Leya:That's the truth. That's the truth. Every time I hear it every time I hear it. I flinch because in my mind, I can feel a nail go into going into cross ends. Now why is that?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Because Christ is in you. So that died for me. But yeah, because your carry on your name carry your carrying Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Yeah. So when someone uses that in the wrong way, and for the wrong purposes, it is like I'm now being driven in. Any other word you can cope with? literally any other way. Other words, any other word word doesn't have the impact of like someone delivering that to you know,
Leya:when they do it. I'll be honest with you, it really does upset me. It makes me angry. Yeah. And I feel let down. I feel let down by people because I think you know,
Reverend Ben Cooper:you know that I'm a believer. And you're still doing it. Yeah.
Leya:And some people seem to revel in saying it as well. Yeah. Like they pronounced every single syllable. And they really emphasize Yeah, I'd prefer it if you used any other word I would anyone? Because with every syllable. Yeah, it's another hammer go into that. And I'll see pour Jesus's face.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And what really fascinates me is that, then that that way that that is expressed and used and spoken about is global. Yeah, doesn't matter what language is, is the one that hears now we was just talking about other gods wasn't my now not you never hear another God's name being you.
Leya:Can you imagine you can you imagine? Yeah. Oh, Osiris.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Anyone here? Nah, Nah, man.
Leya:But if somebody I know we're laughing now. But if somebody if I knew that somebody sitting next to me might be of that religion. I wouldn't do it. It's not that I'm not I'm worshipping their God is just out of respect to that person.
Reverend Ben Cooper:But what you got to understand is it won't have the impact. Like
Leya:I think in the Muslim world, it would.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, but it's not spiritual. Yeah, that's that's what we got to understand. It's not it's not split, there is such a difference, there is such a difference in what we are referring to, you know, there is such a is the the power of the Spirit of God that he because no other God will bring you on the conviction. What you got there is legalism, and what you got there is just anger. Yeah, it's not the feeling that you can't eat. Alright. Number four, remember, the Sabbath day and keep it holy
Leya:Sabbath. Holy cow. Did you know that the Sabbath is actually a Saturday? Yeah, of course. I love it that when I see this show, and you're like, yeah, I went to university and studied this lady, thanks very much.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Shabbat shalom. starts on a Friday. Do you know the
Leya:I don't know what those
Reverend Ben Cooper:words mean? Shabbat shalom. You know, you know, we'll listen over time but we're not talking about Shabbat shalom starts ran about three, four o'clock in the Jewish calendar and they have Holy Communion. They shut down, everything shuts down, you know, everything shuts down, they get home they have a meal, you know, a beautiful meal, like the Passover meal and all that they all sit around the table, they light the candle, the menorah, and all that sort of stuff. You know, it's fantastic. It's lovely, because the following scripture, yeah. Now if you take me for example, the SAT take a day off Got my biggest downfall I guess my biggest downside not taking a day off because
Leya:then I feel like then I maybe the light shine.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, right yeah, that's it. Yeah. So but you know,
Leya:I was listening to this Bible study and the guy and it said that in in really extreme not extremists but in Jewish culture yeah there were areas where they want us a lift on a Saturday
Reverend Ben Cooper:night prepare stuff the day before Exactly. And prepare yeah don't turn the light on yeah that's where a lecturer come in handy when it Yeah,
Leya:because you're not you're not allowed to cook you're not allowed to make fire no and you're not allowed to work or not so if you go to bed if you go into a lift and you press a button you'll create an electric spark which makes fire which makes the lift work
Reverend Ben Cooper:yeah so you're
Leya:not allowed to use a lift on a Saturday in certain cities or places or a shopping
Reverend Ben Cooper:you've got Make sure your shopping is done you can't have anything energetic today. You've got so
Leya:get the idea that the Sabbath is on a Sunday
Reverend Ben Cooper:no subject Novel World Okay, come on with too much can I
Leya:just say as well what I found really interesting about that is those last ones that we just did the four that we just did that all about God all those ones are all about God but the ones that we're going to do now the
Reverend Ben Cooper:next six go on come on the next six are about hello hello may human beings yeah tree in.
Leya:So God's rules are really simple what they they're like worship made that worship Anyone else? That worship anything else. Just be loyal to me.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And don't get a lift on a song disrespectful
Leya:to me. Yeah. And ever break. Is that? Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So when you take that? powerful, simple, easy, yeah. Oh, there we go.
Leya:Here we go. Man. Small man yet we were made in God's image much more complicated.
Reverend Ben Cooper:No podcast. Right. Number five. Honor. Your mommy and daddy.
Leya:I actually made a good one. Yeah,
Reverend Ben Cooper:it's beautiful. It's simple. It's simple. Yeah. But so if we jump up to where we are now, so when Moses was cracking them out on the on the iPads? Yeah. Yeah. And he put them in a bin. Yeah, that was their honor their father or mother? Yeah. Now, obviously, as in the days of Noah and all that sort of stuff. There's no respect for elders and respect for your pair. I'm not talking I'm talking about I'm looking across the platform. Oh, I know. percentage. And the attitude that is out there is just often
Leya:back in if we're talking like 100 years ago, when families lived in a town they lived in that town for a long long time. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And now on others
Leya:around you live with your, your parents or your grandparents made sure you took care of them. Now it's like okay, I'm going to move 50 miles away. And when you get to a certain age, I'm going to put you in a care home because they can look after you now I did say to my mum there are some things that when you get to a certain age we might have to get somebody else to come in and help but it with care where's the love the base of respect?
Reverend Ben Cooper:cultures still have that it a certain cultures have that all the way through and they are very respectful living in the same dwelling under the same roof? Yeah, being respectful for their elders you know and all that sort of stuff yet but in the West damn a
Leya:West sometimes ain't best,
Reverend Ben Cooper:just like West the best day
Leya:because how much as well? can we learn from our parents, from our elderly relatives as well?
Reverend Ben Cooper:The you for today? You know, not no common correct it percentage of the youth today, the children and certain age brackets. I've got such a swagger. And the thing is, they know that the law can't touch them. So you can't even go. If you don't come in from putting that skateboard down. I'm going to click the around the barrier. Now you're not mom, because I'm going to call ChildLine.
Leya:I'm going to call this social. I'm going to call the police.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And you can't touch me. Yeah. So we have created, the system has created where you can't chastise your children. Yeah, that's a subject or we
Leya:learn about we can't we're not we're not choosing to learn from a parent. Like my mom. I am now 43 and I keep mentioning this every podcast for free. But my mom, she still teaches me something new every day.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Because that's the way they should be. Yeah.
Leya:And I mean, it's not just about like, Oh, she teaches me how to be a good person or she teaches me how to be patient or she's but that woman has fac coming out, she's a good girl telling you she's so interesting call funny. Yeah. But also, she's got so much information that I will text her and go mad. Why do this and she'll tell me how to do
Reverend Ben Cooper:it. Which is great, man, I'll connect the Wi Fi again.
Leya:But so many people don't have that respect
Reverend Ben Cooper:and learning not because it's because it's gone. And that is because we're told that we can do what you want when you want Are you want, you know, live the dream and there's no
Leya:spare time with my parents because my friends are more fun.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, and I'll go outside and so I was sent me bedroom for 15 hours a day on a on a PlayStation, PlayStation to shoot people and kill people.
Leya:Yeah, but also sometimes parents don't have time for their kids as well because they're too busy working for that money.
Reverend Ben Cooper:God now that that comes back to what we were talking about the first ones
Leya:as that money good,
Reverend Ben Cooper:but we get trapped. And we don't realize that we get trapped so we become slaves to the Pharaoh. Or the world. Oh, Baba, you're so right. You are gonna make bricks, you're gonna make brick. work for me. 400 years making bricks, you are going to work and work and work. And you are going to do 12 hours
Leya:a day. I'm gonna make you do more. I'm gonna make.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I'm gonna give you a zero. contract. You will work and work. You will bleed for the system. Yeah, exactly. And then when you're not pulling your white kid out? Yeah.
Leya:Well, then you got kids. You ain't got to show you
Reverend Ben Cooper:because you get caught in a cycle. You can see how easy it is for humanity to fall in this drum. Oh, yeah. So easy.
Leya:That's why these rules these simple rules. Yeah, they're so simple. You imagine you imagine my okay being one person in charge of the whole of humanity and the universe and everything going? I'm just going to set up some rules right? If I was going to set up some rules for the whole of humanity, universe and everything. My List would be like the yellow pages or Thompson's local. Yeah. The Merciful God just gives 10 rolls 10 rolls, how can you bring that down
Reverend Ben Cooper:to 10 rolls but when you look at them rolls they are the fundamental truth and then as you take one they are layered the items up things or to supernatural rules and no that's the thing come on then number six can we don't do it won't give it as much time Thou shall not murder we get that one. Done.
Leya:Celine Dion murder some songs.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Some pups and songs. So we won't hang around on that one. That's you know. And number seven even you simple stuff in it. Because they all spring so number six, you should not murder. Number seven. You shall not commit adultery,
Leya:which is what they said married done because
Reverend Ben Cooper:God you got the Old Testament. You'll have some eyes out there. And then you jump on number eight. You should not steal
Leya:anything to argue.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, just take a pen out from what? I've just Google in the work time. I'm stealing time. Oh, hallelujah, Lord. Go
Leya:it's all part work. So
Reverend Ben Cooper:part work, research or research. Number nine.
Leya:This is a personal favorite of mine. I cannot abide a liar. Look at that. Do not lie. It's not even like, don't tell a white lie. Don't tell about lie.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Just don't lie. Just don't do it. Just don't lie. You should not bear false witness against your neighbor. Yeah, not bring a bad word.
Leya:Go. Come on. It's really hard for that paper. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And Shall we just open the door of church a moment. Boris has given me the case amount in the door. Go on. Oh, there's a great man over there. Now. The door church so you're looking at it. Now when you look at that. It talks about grapevine. The church grapevine can be worse than the world's grapevine. Watch out for the souls. Yeah, the backstabbers. Yeah, the souls.
Leya:And then but then you get some people with a go right. I I don't mind. I'm gossiping about someone Yabba Yabba Yabba jabber jabber jabber jabber jabber jabber. But you know what? I'll tell this person this to their face anyway. Maybe you call it wiki. It's just
Reverend Ben Cooper:and we're in a world that is just full of opinions in it.
Leya:Yeah. And
Reverend Ben Cooper:you know, yeah, I won't say opinion. I wish
Leya:so hot yesterday. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:You got to do this. You can't do that. And this is the best way to do that. And as far as your donation go, hang on a minute. Why don't you just live my life for me?
Leya:Yes, exactly. I do. I have actually listened to somebody do that to me for a long time. And in the end I said, This is my life. I'm living not yours. Yeah. Yeah, tell me what? You're not exactly what you say that swimsuit and shoe shop I'm telling you. But Lion Lion was one of my bugbears because I feel like if you're lying when you're trying to make fun of me, yeah. But that's my pride Chevron. 79 is so hard. Because you you will fall foul of lying. You will have to remember the lies that you've told. Yeah. And then you become an anxious bubble and worry on terrible effects, okay
Reverend Ben Cooper:to put on slimfast and put him in a kebab shop and dry for it's just the physique don't match up with the story.
Leya:I just added a line. I'm sorry. I don't lie, lie. Lie. Don't lie. Don't lie.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Don't lie. Why lie? Okay. I'm just gonna get a donor. I'm not really on a diet. My physique is not matching up with what I'm
Leya:telling you lying because you're gonna get a portion of chips for that
Reverend Ben Cooper:you call Cheyenne chips. Oh, last one. Last one. Well, shall not cover.
Leya:I'm covered in your chips.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So I'm assuming you're not having my chips. That I don't tell you what when you look at that, you should not cover
Leya:neighbors neighbors ox isn't it? Awesome?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Wife? Why
Leya:don't tree one.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. Chicago is in really interesting ways in it. The grass is always greener on the other side. I like that Carla got over there. I want I want cover I want you know, you just gotta be content, things that you've got your family, your friends, your workplace.
Leya:If I was writing a story? Yeah. Okay. blockbuster, I would start with a cover in. Because you'd be jealous. I'm jealous about that person, jealous, jealous of what they've got. And then that starts to eat me up.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And then I'm forgiveness, but then I might steal it.
Leya:I mean, and then I might murder him. But that's, that's where it just like caveat, they're not me, I wouldn't do it. But that's where these things can lead to, aren't they? They're arcs of an idea that could lead to something a lot more the consequences of these actions, yes, can lead to all of humanity, having a terrible time. So
Reverend Ben Cooper:some of them in there. The consequences and the actions to what you do will give you life and some of the actions and the consequences that you if you did not follow or cause you death. Yeah. It's that critical.
Leya:It is critical. And the reason it is critical, is because it opens us up to free will.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I mentioned that word.
Leya:I know we're trying to keep it light,
Reverend Ben Cooper:like free will to drive by the golden arches. Or do I drive in?
Leya:Yeah. But it's free? We'll do our do our follow these or not? Do I follow these commandments? Am I going to it's like, this is the message that I love about the Bible? Is that God, we were saying earlier, God could have very easily come onto the scene when all the people were now alive and live in another site. He was out Yeah, they were worshipping false idols and such. And he could have very easily go to God, you will follow me and everyone would have God. God said he gave humanity the will to follow him or not.
Reverend Ben Cooper:The power of free will. is such a powerful thing. Yeah, it's I don't think that humanity really grasps until you start looking at it. And unpacking it. What you can achieve for good what you can achieve for bad. Yeah, that's a power of choice. Yeah.
Leya:And these these are the choices your choices. These are the choices these these these commandments. Yeah, I will report back the 11th commandment.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Got it?
Leya:Isn't it? love you? This is his last commandment.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Oh, that's different. Yeah, that was his last commandment. Yeah. Love your
Leya:self. Now your brothers and your sisters. Yeah. Yeah, that that's all of these is that all of these seem to be Do not Do not Do not Do not Do not. And And Jesus says is love love, which is beautiful. Yeah. But all of them are about freewill, aren't they? All of them are you have the choice to be redeemed or
Reverend Ben Cooper:you have a choice? Yeah. You have a choice and we see quite had a choice in the garden of gifts only he had the choice
Leya:choice forever throughout your entire life and there's never any time when you cannot
Reverend Ben Cooper:that's right there is always you're always making a choice wherever that may be on the earth you have a choice whatever that may be a good choice answering the phone or not a good choice to answer that email or not answer is you got a choice to follow God a choice not a choice to go to church with choice not to Yeah, choice the power of choice
Leya:the power of choice that's it the power of making the right choice
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, there's only two decisions a good decision or bad yeah, there's not layers of different it's it's either going to turn out for good or it's gonna turn out a bit murky
Leya:some things though, where I think you know, do not steal but what about the What about the kid that starving and they still bit food? Do you know what I mean? Sure, that's
Reverend Ben Cooper:a tricky one
Leya:is a tricky one. I'm sorry. So just like that on Yeah. Oh, God. person that lies in order to save somebody from
Reverend Ben Cooper:counterpoint then no, in an area there is really date day Saturday. is Saturday is kebab days. burger day
Leya:is I'm sorry, I'm sorry, by big light stuff. It's not ask those questions I'll face because mate day we like so many people go on can't get involved in religion. There's so many rules. Well, this this 1011 there's 1011 rules. And some of them.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah.
Leya:Do you know I mean, but now low and and stealing is bad
Reverend Ben Cooper:law understanding
Leya:of repercussions. It's the repercussions and the ripples of those roles spreading throughout your life. And you've always got free will to be able to overturn those decisions. That's what I'm trying to get to.
Reverend Ben Cooper:When you say taking food off someone's plate?
Leya:No, no, like.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Like, for example, you went in, went into the local supermarket, your pack of crisps.
Leya:If you're starving, if you are starving, hungry person. And you're walking through a market and you haven't had an apple two days and you grab an apple? Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:The person if the person got called by the person that they need the apple from Can I should go? I can see you're starving are blusher. Exactly. That I think there's there's a difference between, well, this guy named intentionally to be a robot. I'm robbing cars for a living. You know, I'm not saying don't get lost. I was
Leya:at that moment of Yeah, the choice, the choice. And whether you're intending to do or not. It's that moment when it becomes
Reverend Ben Cooper:stealing is stealing because that Apple is his property? That car? Yeah, I mean, it sucks. Not. I'm not saying that you got Nick market, but it's an area that I don't know. Well, it's complicated. And
Leya:isn't that why Moses came up with his little roles as well, not a little rose. That's a little talking about Moses then he makes doesn't make, he uses the rules that God has created. And he creates more of a context.
Reverend Ben Cooper:It's very elaborate, you know, more irrelevant, you're elaborated on what you've got there. So each one of them is that is a foundational point. And then from that you work off of that foundational point. Exactly. So it unpack so much more each, each one of them has got so much more within that,
Leya:which is where it comes from you saying that the person that has been stolen from should see things from a different point of view. Yeah. And then it becomes not and that's where the that's, that's Yes, included within that context.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So you got to really look at it over here. Yeah, I know. People got nicking for fun and whatever. But when you're if you're in that position of being so hungry, yeah, it's almost like, I'll give you another apple. Yeah, I can see you're angry.
Leya:If I can just say this. What we're talking about these walls that we're talking about? They are in Hebrews? No, they're not there in Exodus 21.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Exodus, Exodus 21.
Leya:Yeah, so in Exodus 21, it talks about the different laws, the laws. Now some of these laws are a little bit harsh. They're like, it's definitely gonna be a bit stiff. They're gonna be a bit today. But they're also ones about the gray areas that we're talking about. I really want to just, I really want to just make sure that we ratify that that the 10 commandments, then also have laws that come off of them
Reverend Ben Cooper:as a springboard, isn't it? Yeah,
Leya:it's a springboard that's exactly the right thing. Oh, well, come on. Oh, Jesus. Well said bye. Wow, that was really nice. But there's also some relationships. You are not my idol.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Cuz my idol is is gjc GJ Hebrews, Hebrews chapter 12 verse to keep your eyes on
Leya:the offer and the perfecter of my face. You forgot a word. Jesus.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Kate, your island Jesus. Yeah, I didn't forget I'm sorry.
Leya:I can't remember the Scripture. You look at me Point your finger at me and put me on the spot. And I'm like, I don't know.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So good. It's so good. It's in my heart. This has been good. Yeah, it's been good. So they're all springboards in they? Yeah, they're the 10 commandments. And then you take each one. And you look at that, and you unpack that one. And you'll and you can you could spend hours and hours just analyzing, looking, studying, reading, thinking, focusing, pondering on each and absolutely everyone,
Leya:but what they do, and this is something that I felt since I was a child as well. Is it the 10? Because they were taught to us in junior school? Yes I do with everybody is that these are rules, that if you live by these rules, your life will be easier. And if you live by these rules, other people's lives will be easier.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So as it has a knock on a domino effect than it
Leya:did the rules for society. Yeah, there are rules for society. So if politicians took more out of these walls,
Reverend Ben Cooper:built the world on these what a better place? Well, a bit, but why should we build rules on rules from the EU?
Leya:I think we're talking about Satan myself. Oh, we are or money, or power or capitalism, or Yeah, and those are all things that are in Satan's back pocket.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So when you look at the UK today, are we living by these? No.
Leya:If we wanted our mother and our father they would not be so many people die in in care homes. Now. If you took number six, all right. I think number six is the one that most people would not do not.
Reverend Ben Cooper:But any everything else.
Leya:They're gonna do it.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Oh, yeah. I mean, you can put these in brackets Can you can put these in or in an older way you go, you know what? The whole UK knows. You know what? I'm not going to take no one else's life. Yeah, but you look at the average thing. Oh,
Leya:yeah. Oh,
Reverend Ben Cooper:so when you've got a government anywhere in the world, that are bringing out their own rules, ie they're going to be trouble. Absolutely. But if like you said, and the UK ama years back, did it, it it valued and it sat by and it stood on these, and the nation was different. When parents grandparents knew all this, and they lived by this, and they and certain offices and certain places around the UK, taught this push this live by it.
Leya:It was a had to have had more salt.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Most definitely. Now, what we live in by,
Leya:we live in in a world at the moment in the UK, where our fathers and mothers like elderly parents or grandparents. I mean, Sheldon, yeah, from the rest of the country, who are refusing to abide by rules that could stop them from dying. Yeah. That's literally where we live in at the moment.
Reverend Ben Cooper:We've got. We're living in, in the UK where children are hitting their parents. Yeah. abusing their family. Yeah, because the law can't touch them.
Leya:I mean, I'll be honest with you, that swings both ways. I need to say that
Reverend Ben Cooper:all night does nothing. I'm referring to Honor thy father and mother. No, there's no honor. There's that you know, there's no
Leya:if there was then there wouldn't be kids congregating on the street straight during the time of national lockdown with with a
Reverend Ben Cooper:you know, yeah, Roscoe is late at night.
Leya:mugging people honestly himself. He can get back up quicker. But people, not logins. I mean. mugging people at cashpoints mugging elderly people at cashpoint Oh, you've
Reverend Ben Cooper:only got a tight lockdown when a lockdown came in there was people running down the toilet roll rugby tackling their grand to grab a loo roll
Leya:and then you'd see an old an elderly person go into that shop they could not God not fear for themselves or their families because they couldn't get anything.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So when when you look at modern day culture and society, we're robbing people. But when you talk about robbing people, you automatically think of a robber with a rucksack on his back going out. But you will have a bill robber bill but but more society's robbing the elderly of opening the door. Can you come and get your shopping? Then we go down the road of dilaton Li. It's all about me. As long as I'm just going to fill my belly knock out in the way or not are not mean and granddad out in the headphones.
Leya:There was a there was a kickback where people said, well hang on a minute, we need to open up the supermarket service decent early hours so that elderly parents can get there. Yes, they're shootin. So how are they going to get there? They're not unless they put themselves in danger.
Reverend Ben Cooper:People roll up to the supermarkets that don't fit that age bracket.
Leya:Exactly. queue up and say, Well, I
Reverend Ben Cooper:was in a queue before the queue before you. So when you talk about robbing people, you're robbing people of, of food nutrition opinion, they can't get that opportunity. So it's not you, like I said, running down a river with with a Telly on your arm. It's it's doing things where you're taking liberties, and you're doing stuff that is affecting the older generation that cannot that they need your help.
Leya:And the government when the this the the Prime Minister came in, and there was all the debates, the massive focus was on we need to take care of our elderly, this is what we need to do is before COVID we need to take care of our elderly 100%. So that when you look at the the government run, there's not enough money going into those care homes. There's not enough money and and property.
Reverend Ben Cooper:In Europe, though,
Leya:their property prices are so high now that people can't afford to have a house with a granny flat or for their their elderly parent. Do you know in a certain
Reverend Ben Cooper:cultures, amazing how they look after their? Yeah. Elderly, elderly?
Leya:Grace? Yeah, every time there's a new generation of a family, they just build another floor on the top of the house, which is why the floors of all three or four storey houses will three or four floors high because it all live in the generations. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So when you think about that, that's fantastic.
Leya:Yeah. You know, a
Reverend Ben Cooper:lot of cultures do that. Yeah. So we're missing a lot here in the UK. And so much, you know, what, do you know what as well run out of time 50 page gone on, I was waiting, it's gone the 50 page.
Leya:You wouldn't know that it's 50 pages.
Reverend Ben Cooper:To remember that costs a fortune around the house now than it costs to pay put the VAT and the tax on it. lie in the purse of the keeper of the purse that shall show my thou shall fill my two jugs up. And I shall have Pharaoh finished because
Leya:I cover it my next door neighbor's jack. I've got one of my own and I built my own energy company. And then I stole all the oil from the world and kill the planet.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah.
Leya:That's sort of repercussions. Actual repercussions.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Anyway,
Leya:that was deep. I'm sorry. It was so deep for a Saturday,
Reverend Ben Cooper:Sunday afternoon. I'm going to get me to go fly out of our shop and be a trial of kebabs juice behind me.
Leya:Yeah, jack Johnson. People's I'm
Reverend Ben Cooper:dropping cattle off lamb.
Leya:Lamb lamb? Yep. We never been well, we've only discussed a tiny little part of this amazing book. I recommend for no no please ring read Exodus
