Hello and welcome to Elim Church when you're joining myself, Reverend Ben Cooper for today's podcast. Yeah, thank you so much for joining us in this podcast as we record this and we gathered around a mic we got a cup of coffee on a go a bottle of water, and we are blessed beyond measure. It always makes me smile to introduce my good friend Simon Pinchbeck. That's with us today. And the Lord is moving across this nation we have the whole tie into the Word of God there is no other way but in the name of Jesus. He is the beginning he is the end he is a bright morning star. And this morning we are looking at a really interesting few words. We need you, Simon
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah, it's great to be back Ben and on the table. We've got a couple of Bibles and we've got a couple of Bibles. Do you see them in church things? It's just it's great to be there. And Good to see you. Good to see you. Good to be with you. We have some laughs We have some fellowship and but most of all we fellowship about oh god Come on where the Lord don't we and yeah we've got some exciting news really Ben because we haven't we've we've come on on a journey in the past Yes, Emily monster been doing this. And we used to call this power hour we used to you know, we were talking about the crisis and I sort of stuff but the Lord has has dropped on us a name that we're gonna move forward with now and that's Christian straight talk and # Christian straight talk from this. We're gonna it's going to branch out into all sorts of different things yet the Lord has opened up for us He probably spent Isn't
Reverend Ben Cooper:he as he's opened the door up. And that was interesting the way that come around when Christians strike talk really, really interesting. Because that's what that's that's what this is about. isn't what this is about. Yeah.
Simon Pinchbeck:Christian, straight talking. We got hours of this stuff. Yeah. We don't owe back nothing. No, nothing's hidden. Nothing's hidden. And the amazing thing we're looking to, well, we're not just looking we've already commissioned a bottle it's gonna come out with with the text of our podcast. And the great thing was the lady that's gonna do it. She only lived a few doors down the road.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And she is amazing. Erica works. Yes, amazing. It is amazing how it all works, how everything comes together. So from this lockdown from this lockdown, where God has really opened the door for us just before regarding podcast in recording and doing what we're doing, where the doors were shut, and we was forced into doing something very different. Yeah. Where I thought it was gonna be the end of the story line on the floor in the porch crying on the first Sunday, when Boris said, Shut the door for this isn't this. I remember laying on the floor thinking what we're going to do this is the end, the end is nigh. Do you know what I mean? What we're gonna do, the church was empty. The first Sunday it was all four people will come into the door of Santa Canton let you in. It was terrible. And I'm thinking what we're going to do and then suddenly got open a door very quickly and very smoothly. When God moves. It's quick, it's fast. And it drops.
Simon Pinchbeck:You just got to be faithful and obedient, haven't you? And that really stopped you're walking around slowly with that board, you know, then there's no no, but he's out in this door and really is exciting stuff. So really well over the next few weeks will be explained a little bit more about where we're going. Yeah, this hashtag Christina strike talk, but it's gonna we've already commissioned a website where there's that there's already talks of social media and all that sort of stuff. So so really is a case of watch this space, and the book should be coming out. I believe she said, maybe August time, we've already decided on the logo and everything. So that's exciting news, as well. So there'll be more of this stuff. Definitely more of this straight talk. As the Lord just gives us these these subjects to talk about each week, Danny Ben
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, he does. It's just it's literally Christian Straight Talk. It's just talking about living your life as a man or a woman and going through the trials and tribulations and being completely honest and not not being frightened to talk about your failings and not being frightened to talk about repenting that that I've got anger issues, I got worry issues. I'm fearful. I'm doubtful. I'm stressed I'm tired. I'm not sleeping on. You just just been just yet general Straight Talk. It is that simple. It's that
Simon Pinchbeck:simple. Turn that Jesus when we're in trouble and rejoice with himwhen he gets us out of that trouble as well.
Reverend Ben Cooper:That's right. And it's I think what's important is that we haven't gone out to do any literature at all have we? The door open for our
Simon Pinchbeck:houses just dropped
Reverend Ben Cooper:in. It wasn't on this radar. It wasn't in the diary, or we're gonna we're gonna do this. It's come to us the door is opened before you know it has happened and it's like a blink of an eye and you think
Simon Pinchbeck:about it. We both sat there. Good to see As this happened hours this happened what this can't be this time, right? That the mock up of a front cover of a book. I'm thinking what's what's going on?
Reverend Ben Cooper:I know we're doing this straight talk things, okay? It's been picked up and the podcast have been turned into the transcript, the transcript gets turned in. But it's amazing how God works,
Simon Pinchbeck:man, you just just faithful and obedient and we got to praise him and thank him for everything. Everything has gone on blessings going on.
Reverend Ben Cooper:But I think what's important, Simon, is that we always talk about Jesus. And we always have to talk about Jesus. We always talk about the potter's world, we talk about the garden of gifts cemani we talk about the pride of life, the lust of the flesh, the filings, the doubts. And when you're really open, and you say that I really need to lean into God, I really need him. I really need him you're being open, it seems to blow everything away, then it It blows everything away. You're not hiding anything you're not frightened of. of anything.
Simon Pinchbeck:No, no, you're right. But you're totally right. And we, we, we discussed this on other different podcasts. And we'll we will revisit it all again. But you you know, you can't hold anything back.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Nah, go Can you can't hold anything back. It's
Simon Pinchbeck:got to be all is you've got to get out. Or you can't have one foot in one camp on one foot and another now you've got to got to make that decision to to give that today. Yeah,
Reverend Ben Cooper:come on. So we're in we're in and just for a bit of a title is, we need you
Simon Pinchbeck:we need you. Yeah, and and that covers, covers. God needs us. Jesus needs us. And the body of Christ needs needs you when you're listening to this. out there in the world, wherever you're listening to it on your, on your cell phone, on your mobile phone with you sitting in a park with you driving a car, wherever you are wearing in your bedroom, or wherever you are called nature, a man in Asia Jesus nature, right? And you know, it's interesting bendinat, Psalm 133, which is a great opening up to a psalm, it says how good it is. When all the brethren dwell together in unity. So coming together in unity, the brethren coming together in unity. We need each other then we've been
Reverend Ben Cooper:we need each other and, and what you've just said there, I'm thinking to myself, why does God need us? He needs us because we are his sons and daughters. Yeah. Yeah, he needs us not because what we can give him in the way of like we give our family love and security, maybe through our positions of work and just what we've got as we come together as a family, but he needs us because He created us if he didn't need us, he wouldn't have created us. What was the purpose?
Simon Pinchbeck:Totally. He needs us to tell his story for us.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. So salvation,
Simon Pinchbeck:he needs us to he needs us to to use us to be the people because the unopposed children, each one of us.
Reverend Ben Cooper:everyone listening has a purpose.
Simon Pinchbeck:It's got our purpose when you were born. Yeah. And he knows that. The end from the beginning. Definitely. So yes. You
Reverend Ben Cooper:know, yeah, as the scripture says, you know, it's beginning from the end den from beginning. But when we say, Well, what is the purpose of me on this life? Does God really need me? Yes, he does. Because you are a daughter and your Son of the living God, and you are blessed and highly favored, and he loves you unconditionally. If he didn't love you, he wouldn't need he, he needs you. It is very difficult to articulate and put into words, why would this God of Israel want me? He created you, He created us? Because he loves us. And that is difficult to grasp is a
Simon Pinchbeck:massively difficult aggressing we've all got people go. What are my plans? You know, people have read Jeremiah 2911. I want to know, what plans have you got for me? Well, this one plan is only ever been one plan and that is to accept the Son Jesus Christ. And that is a plan for your life. Yeah. And see what that takes you. And you know, we're gonna talk a little bit about that today. And, you know, I've been there's, there's a few guys that I listened to on. And when I talk and really take interest in what they say, and one of them is a guy called Carter Conlon from Time Square church in New York, which is the same churches, David Wilkerson came from, and he's done during this lockdown. He's done a series of midweek talks and they're not that 3040 minutes, they're not so long. But at the start of each talk, they pray about 10 prayers, and that all from emails that have come in, I catch Yeah, and there's so much brokenness,
Reverend Ben Cooper:brokenness,
Simon Pinchbeck:so much brokenness. All the way through his talk along strap down on the bottom of the video is Please pray for me. You know, my daughter's had an abortion Please pray for me. I'm gay and I'm in trouble. Please pray for me. My my boys left me he's he's addicted to drugs, his brokenness
Reverend Ben Cooper:brokenness for really big for
Simon Pinchbeck:people Mike you know
Reverend Ben Cooper:how much brokenness isn't in the world is broken, it's massive then and I think we can bring into the conversation here where the scripture refers to about in times that the earth is grown in the earth is grown in the earth is churning the for the Savior, we are at that point where no one knows the hour or the day when Christ will return. But the signs in the heavens above us, Jesus said, Look out for the signs the signs will be a signal. Now the brokenness is a sign to say that humanity needs a savior, everyone and everywhere homes are broken. Do we know of a house? Anyone that is listening to this? Do we know of anyone in the circle of our life that doesn't have anything major happening under I don't
Simon Pinchbeck:have been just across this table here,
Reverend Ben Cooper:just across the table. everything under the sun is almost broken out, isn't it?
Simon Pinchbeck:We talk about it. It never gambled before. And you know, there's stuff going on in our lives and our families. It's
Reverend Ben Cooper:tough. It's really hard. It's draining. It's mentally draining from the grandchildren, through to marriage, through to finances, through to what you're doing God, what's happening in the church, the doors are locked. We need money to keep things moving. We're tired, we're exhausted, families are stretched, education, homeschooling. brokenness is everywhere.
Simon Pinchbeck:You made a great point in what you said, is that the world needs a savior. And the father's answer to this brokenness is Jesus Christ come to me is Jesus Christ,
Reverend Ben Cooper:the same message has always been there is there come to me all of you have an
Simon Pinchbeck:answer to come to come to me. And and and we'll identify that with with just one story in the Scriptures, comes from the Gospel of Mark and starts at 10 chapter 10. Verse 46, Bennett spedge Jesus is walking. They've been to Jericho, and he's walking out of Jericho. And it says he's got the disciples around him. But he saw a multitude around him or Yeah, now you can imagine what a melt what we choose doing Canyon you can imagine it's a bit like I guess you submit the view was that you could say, yeah, the churches are handling Couldn't he had religion all around all the faiths or the Pharisees the Sadducees or the evildoers the mutilated or the flesh?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Don't cast your pearls to pigs around the audience he had around him at that point
Simon Pinchbeck:and someone won't be going I'll come to my house My house is better come to my church because because we've got better down that's come to my church because your
Reverend Ben Cooper:brother in the car pie right out front. Yeah, well come back to church.
Simon Pinchbeck:You know it then. Yeah, that's what if he kind of died? That'd be all around him.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Exactly. And the back buyer as the stabbers. Question is is sovereignty and his power and his authority by just cheering and dropping in snidey ensnared remarks and like when he was at the cross, if you are the Christ, if you are if you are who you say you are, come down for the cross.
Simon Pinchbeck:And this is this is a great bit of Scripture because it goes on to say, I walking down a road, Ben. Yeah. And in the scripture actually named this guy's name is bartimaeus. Right? Yeah, blind bartimaeus. He's been blind from birth. And there is a beggar on the side of the road. And as they're walking around, and Jesus is surrounded by the multi multi Jews, we'd call them the Yes Men I guess these days, you know? Yes, yes. You could do this. Jesus Baba.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Those are some that Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. Yes.
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah, there is. Yeah, you got Yeah. So Brian Varmus calls out? Because Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Isn't it interesting. Now, would Jesus have passed him by if bartimaeus didn't call out? Yes. Think about that. Yes. That's really just Anna. Yeah. Now that is that because he, he's not loving Christ knows nothing to do that. He expects me to call out to Him. Yes.
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah, that's the point. You've got it in my brokenness.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. In your broken we've got we have got we are reaping what we have what we have sowed sorry. And what is that? I believe we have a lazy spiritual church across the UK because there's not Many calling out to the Lord. You call out to our gods and you're going to get what you call it. Oh, yeah. If whatever you worship you will find you will have he would have passed him by
Simon Pinchbeck:either known about him but it's either created him either passed him by that's a serious because either gone or no you're there but you don't want me so that's okay. Yeah, that's okay that's where you're at you don't want me. But when you're ready I'm here.
Reverend Ben Cooper:That's a really interesting text. Can you read that a little bit more there Simon?
Simon Pinchbeck:We so blind bartimaeus a son, he said, sat by the road begging now that you know, don't forget he's made his living all his life. And begging This is the only note this is what's defined him. And when he heard it was Jesus and now of Nazareth, he shouted out and began to cry. He said, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. Next week is even more interesting because it says, I said, There many wanting to be quiet so many, although all those yesterday woke up, shouted that Jesus don't want to know you know, you just don't know yoga. You don't want to know You be quiet. Now. Listen to me. Jesus are you know, man, gentlemen, so I'm the pastor and the pastor of the church. Yeah, we don't want to listen to them. It's all about me. It's all about me. And, and he cried even more. That made him cry even more. So they're telling him to be quiet. And he cried even more. Is it desana? David, have mercy on me. Now I have experienced many people, many broken people who really get rejected from church and I'm sorry to say that,
Reverend Ben Cooper:yeah. And our
Simon Pinchbeck:churches, where if you are broken, and you walk through the door, I'm afraid they'll probably say, I'll come and see that fella Ben Cooper down down the road, or, or, or we'll pray here, but he's about to, you know, remember, you know, I've been at this big Christian men's thing a few years ago. And the call was for anyone who's who's the prodigal anyone who's that is that is at a problem in our culture. And I saw this fella and I went up and took him for a cup of tea, and we started talking. Now don't forget this fellow to come with bat. 20 guys, yeah, church.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, yeah,
Simon Pinchbeck:yeah. Big Baptist Church, but and I'm not saying that. It just was the way it was. Yeah. But he'd been through Haley's he Sunnah committed suicide, his wife had almost left him. All sorts of stuff have gone on. But there was no one in the church. They made that less wanted. It wanted to put his own their arms around him and really walk with him. You know, he was this man was struggling big time.
Reverend Ben Cooper:And how many others were like him struggling big time because religion doesn't allow you This is such a good text about blind bartimaeus. I need Jesus Son of David helped me and religion is going Nope, nope, nope. So religion walks along in pious in in dogma and all find rest and find regalia. And who did Jesus stop for? He stopped for bartimaeus.
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah, so the next text goes on. It says. So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they call the blind man saying to him be a good any call the blind man saying to him Be of good cheer rice. He is calling you So Dave. Because Jesus said, Come forward. They've all of a sudden they've gone out. Yeah, okay. We better call him forward.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So Christ gives the instruction to the church to the church. And the church era Lakin going on. Okay.
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah. And, and then he goes, he then and throwing aside his garment, and this is a real important bit of text. It says, Don't forget this guy's blind. He's been blind from birth. Yeah. And his garment would be his cloak. Because that's what he's got around in this. This is what keeps him warm. And you know, yeah, so he's blind and forget. So if he stands up, and he throws down his garment, and he's still blind, someone's gonna whip that garment away.
Reverend Ben Cooper:is coated God is gone. He's cold. He's got nothing to protect him. It says what you call safety blanket is wrapped around him to surrender. They surround him all day long. It's it's been part of his life. It's sat with him. It's kept him warm. It's been his comfort. He could feel it, touch it. There's all that he was familiar with was that around him before we Go
Simon Pinchbeck:I want to ask the question Ben. To anyone on.
Reverend Ben Cooper:the whole the whole nine yards. who's out there is this. What's your garment this morning? What's your clothes this morning? What's your quote that you need to lay down? Come on, repent of. Yeah, it may be pornography, gambling addiction, gossiping, sex, drugs and rock drugs,
Simon Pinchbeck:The full shebang is neat and lay down this morning because we were all we've got stuff. Yeah.
Reverend Ben Cooper:That's nice dealing with
Simon Pinchbeck:and you make all garments you what you said, there is really really strong. Something that conferences, something that we feel comfortable in some hand. Oh, yeah, that's the flesh loves
Reverend Ben Cooper:the flesh that loves. But when you look at that garment he had they didn't have nice washing machines and cleaning equipment like we got. So that garment was probably smelly, torn to pieces ripped, it was old. And that sounds like send isn't it? Yes, smelly, old garment of sin. When Jesus calls you let the garment go. And what will he do? It will put on the robe of righteousness gay men. Today, I've lost track of time and amount because life is mad at the moment. Today is Wednesday, Thursday last year. Last night we had an online Bible study. And God took me to where he took me to Genesis 37 and I spoke on day on Joseph's cope. The blessing from the Father the garment, the garment that the Father gives you there's a two different garments different
Simon Pinchbeck:garments spin
Reverend Ben Cooper:is the one we got to lay down called ID and the one the father gave Joseph
Simon Pinchbeck:and that garment, you've got what I've written on it. shame, guilt,
Reverend Ben Cooper:everything, everything now. Yeah, since so let's try and picture that you've got a blind beggar sitting on a dusty path sitting in a very busy area. They haven't got the means to clean like we have, you know, we're spotless, everything we've got is spotlessly clean. So that garment was probably old, it was dirty and within its smell. It was heavy with dust the market never said a washing machine. Because that's what we as Yeah,
Simon Pinchbeck:as people walk by, they'd go Oh, what a poor man. Look at the state have a look at the state of Illinois. Look up the shackles or something.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, that's exactly right. So the garment defines us
Simon Pinchbeck:divides us. That's the
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. Now, how do I get rid of that come to me, all of you that are wearing heavy lines. So when Jesus called him, what did he do? He dropped the Garmin.
Simon Pinchbeck:First thing it says in here, Monday, so it didn't ever say that did it? No, he says it in here.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Why would they reference that?
Simon Pinchbeck:What is thrown aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
Reverend Ben Cooper:So I prophesied my sin, you rise on our right, Jesus. He's got his arms out. But that is a very interesting picture that you have there. That when Jesus says, Come, I'll leave my old ways at the roadside. Gosh, and then the father blesses me. Joseph's dad blessed him with a robe of righteousness with a robe. That was stand out, stand up, stand up, wherever you are, even us to here. We've got to leave the filthy garments on the roadside. We've got to leave the cloak of sin every day, every day. See that? That is so so so important for a believer You know, this is why it's so true. That we're talking here you know, Christian straight talk straight out a guy straight out straight down the barrel, no messing about that all of us have filthy rags
Simon Pinchbeck:that we we were Yeah,
Reverend Ben Cooper:yeah, we're wrapped in rags left, if that's a difficult thing to come Alterman terms with sometimes, isn't it? Because like who was around Christ at that particular point? They didn't have filthy rags, but they did because of their hearts. But when you look externally, when you look they was dressed up as the church religion and whatever way we looked at that one, look at all culture, they was all dressed up. They was in their fine regalia and everything. They was okay that was on their feet moving. But then Jesus, Jesus, Jesus stops, he stops. And who did he go to? Who does he call to the lowly? He calls the lowly he calls the low because he called out
Simon Pinchbeck:because he called out
Reverend Ben Cooper:doesn't matter how low you are. See, the religious folk on the culture on the audience disregarded bartimaeus Christ would have walked by him not because he didn't love him because he created me He created the fibers in that garment. But this is a clear teaching that Christ is telling us through the word I Have the call to him.
Simon Pinchbeck:You've got a call to him. Yeah. Because Jesus is is not going to help me is not going to push his serve into your life. Because he's is too much of a gentleman that he what he but if you caught him, man, you'll see the results. Yeah. And if you don't just go well, that's okay. And, you know, it makes me sad that you don't want me but you know, I understand there might be a time a bit further down the road when when you will call me maybe, maybe or maybe no, I don't know. But the ones Why say to you now is, wherever you are. Wherever You Are you in your car, you as I said, sitting on a park bench looking at your phone, wherever you are. Jesus passing by, yeah, Jesus is passing by. Yes, this is your time.
Reverend Ben Cooper:This is the moment.
Simon Pinchbeck:Now let me go on. And I'll tell you what happened to buy my a switch because it's absolutely astonishing. So Jesus answered to him and said, he said this bin, and it's the same. It's just as a simple few words, as the same words he said to the beggar at the side of the pool. Yeah, yeah. Because Don't forget begging anybody's life. If you're blind or his life.
Reverend Ben Cooper:This has shaped him. It shows him
Simon Pinchbeck:it was him. It was his identity. Yep. So Jesus didn't automatically, you know, just go flush. Now. He said to him, What do you want me to do for you? What do you want me? What
Reverend Ben Cooper:do you want me? Yeah. What do you want me? Who's the me? I am the word. I am the King of kings. I am the Great I Am.
Simon Pinchbeck:What do you want me to do for you?
Reverend Ben Cooper:I created the heavens and earth I put this world into being so what do you want me to do for you? That is that is a beautiful line from the Messiah. What do you want? Bottom is
Simon Pinchbeck:what I'm going to do for you. Now.
Reverend Ben Cooper:What do you want? Brother? Sister? What do you want?
Simon Pinchbeck:And Jesus is saying the same if you call out to Him, Jesus son exactly the same thing to you. If you're Yeah, you say what you're gonna do for you? I won't pay for.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I want joy, Lord,
Simon Pinchbeck:because you'll only take what you want to give him.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Exactly.
Simon Pinchbeck:Exactly. Yeah. If you want to hang on to stuff, you hang on.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I want you to take this Lord, I want you to take the fear and I want it replaced with peace. I want you to take Lord God, the the worry and the anxiety. I want you to take the anger and replace it with love. Lord, I need you to swap it around Lord these this earth so I want to get rid of the earth suit feelings and necessities that is required. And I want to walk spiritually. I want to walk in the Spirit. I want to walk as Galatians says, to walk in the Spirit and not gratify the sins and the desires of the flesh. I want to walk in the Spirit.
Simon Pinchbeck:I want to get rid of a lust. I want to anger replace it with love alone. I don't want to take any more when a gift I want to I want
Reverend Ben Cooper:to serve
Simon Pinchbeck:I want to serve you this is what and and he will stay there until you've finished and the Holy Spirit is convicted your view you have all this stuff in you. Yeah, Jesus.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. Jesus. Jesus cake. You got to take it
Simon Pinchbeck:it's weighing me down. I can't. This is I can't breathe anymore. All the gambling I can't
Reverend Ben Cooper:breathe anymore. The addiction the addiction. Is it the garment the garment is defining me This
Simon Pinchbeck:is choking me hate it is too tight. is some sort of may right now.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Take it Jesus take it please. suffocating me is defining me. I wake up with the garment. I sit with the garment a walk in a garment, ie with the garment. This garment of sin father that I just can't i can't break it.
Simon Pinchbeck:I can't break it.
Reverend Ben Cooper:I can't do it.
Simon Pinchbeck:I can't do it in the flesh. I've
Reverend Ben Cooper:tried. I've tried Take it from me, for it was me. Come to me, all of you that are wearing heavy laden and I will give you rest. Amen. Bring everything to Jesus bring everything to him. He loves you unconditionally. It doesn't matter how it looks to the world is a matter how bad and bleak it looks. It doesn't matter how dark it may be. It doesn't matter what anyone is saying fabricating lies this that come to Jesus, He will he will wrap his arms around you. He will swap that cloak of everything that it represents for love. The Father's arms, the protocol, cyber righteousness.
Simon Pinchbeck:And so he goes on right. He said, What do you want to do for me and the blind man said but and I said to him, he said, Rabbani that I that I may receive much All right. That's what he wanted. And he just knew that, obviously, but yeah, he needed him to say it. And that's how he needs us to say it. He knows what's going on. I need freedom. He knows the shame, the guilt that's going on. I need the anger to go on the anger. That's that's the down
Reverend Ben Cooper:Gaga. Please take it, Lord, you've got to hand it over to the frustration.
Simon Pinchbeck:And then simply Jesus said to him, Go your way. Your faith has made you well. Your faith has made you well as your faith, your favorites, trust, the trust in Jesus church to Jesus has made you well. And it simply says after that, and immediately he received the sight. And the follow Jesus on the road.
Reverend Ben Cooper:That's really, let's just pause him in that scripture. Because we could look it up. Look at bartimaeus at the moment. He wasn't, he didn't have no faith brimming in him. Right. And the reason you come to that conclusion is because he cried out, when you cry out. It's not a happy, clappy cry, a name it and climate. Yes, Lord, well, hallelujah, cancer is gone. Healing, healing healing is a cry out in brokenness, crier brokenness. So when you cry in brokenness, you're crying out in desperation. So desperation overtakes your faith. Because you're crying out because of the heart and the frustration, if you are crying out in faith, your language will be different. Hallelujah, praise the Lord, Lord, I'm blessed and highly favored. It's a different language that you would have. Now, at the beginning of this podcast, sama made a comment, we got Bibles. At that point, I opened the Bible, and I opened it to a page that is Psalm 141. I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me, hear me when I call to you, my prayers beset before you like, innocence, innocence, he said, and by the lifting up of my hands, be like the evening sacrifice. The first line of that said, I call to you, Lord,
Simon Pinchbeck:I called you, Lord, come
Reverend Ben Cooper:quickly. And what is it? Psalm 141? Come quickly? away?
Simon Pinchbeck:So where does that lead us back to what we've been talking about other last weeks, it brings us back with our faces down in the dirt in the air garden going, that's right, a
Reverend Ben Cooper:lot. Not my life marquee,
Simon Pinchbeck:but your will be done. Take this from me.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, take us from take the brokenness, take the shame of brokenness, take the show, take it all take the fear, take the guilt, take the worry. Take the gambling, take the addictions, take the doubts take the religious actions away from me, because when we're very religious, we do things very robotic, and it becomes monotonous. And it's got no life in it is that there's no real life in being the same every day, the same pattern. That's not how we were created. We were created to the just shall live by faith. So every day should be different. But we get up at the same time we get on the same commuter train. And now we're in lockdown. But you know what I'm saying there's a pattern that the world has made, that it wants us to be. And the scripture says do not conform to the pattern of the world. We're not conformed to the pattern of the world. I'm just going along meaningless.
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah. And I understand what you're what you're saying. Then if you feel if if that's all you're doing, but if that is your job and your journey, then you've got to make it exciting, haven't you? You've gotten like it. looking out for four ways you can ever go for Jesus. Yeah. And the deal with this is what happened when when Barton is called out. Yeah, he received his miracle.
Reverend Ben Cooper:He received it.
Simon Pinchbeck:He received his miracle. So where are you my friends out there? If you're, if you're struggling right now, Jesus is passing by. Yeah, he's passing by. Call out, call out and they'll come over. Tell him what you want from him.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. Are you on? Are you on the commuter journey? Are you on the 25? Are you on the monotonous school run? Are you doing this is just cry out to Him where wherever you are on the journey of life. And that row will come off that row will naturally come off when you call on the name of the Lord. When you call, the robe will just drop. It will just disappear when you call when you call.
Simon Pinchbeck:So you repent of that stuff and the row falls down. Jesus takes that away from you. And you've got your miracle. You can tell your story. cardia
Reverend Ben Cooper:you can you can tell your story, Jesus Let me free
Simon Pinchbeck:and that's your needed by the father led by Jesus. Don't think you're not no matter where you are out there, please do not think that you are not needed by Jesus. He loves you unconditionally.
Reverend Ben Cooper:The prodigal son, the father has
Simon Pinchbeck:said that more than once today, and I think that's for someone out there. Definitely. I think someone out there. This doesn't happen without the Spirit of God given us these words. So I think someone out there is feeling unloved. Yeah, maybe someone out there is on the verge of maybe harming themself in a way they shouldn't. But yeah, do not think you're not you're not wanted. Do not think you're not important to Jesus and not important to the Father.
Reverend Ben Cooper:His love is unconditional. Jesus is calling you. He doesn't look at the robe. He doesn't judge us by the robe. He's calling Jesus is calling. And we need him. We need him and we need Jesus. Yeah,
Simon Pinchbeck:we need Jesus and we need you if you're out there. We need you to be part of what we're doing.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Just call that out. We need Jesus are the kingdom Don't we? Yeah, we do. When God is building an army God is God is speaking and God is dealing with, with a lot of things in our lives. God God is he is the vinedresser He is the gardener. And he's he's stripped him back and I've got to come to him and say, Lord, I need you. But Lord, I need to strip this off on each of the Cutlass. Deadwood away. I need to be relieved from this situation. I need this to go. I need that to be removed. Lord, I need freedom. Lord, I need to freedom I need to blossom again.
Simon Pinchbeck:That's a great word. We need freedom. We need freedom. We need freedom. And Jesus is the only one who can give us that. Don't worry about Boris in a lockdown. But Jesus now can give you freedom from water. And listen, when we got a total of people don't let the enemy take you out of the game. No screws, you're in the game here.
Reverend Ben Cooper:You're in it. God has got you. He knows he's he's not going to pass you by. It's very interesting that pass you by situations and it because when Christ walked on the lake, and they cried out, don't pass us by passers by. Is he going to pass us by? Is it a guy is he going to pass us by? There's a responsibility as a believer or as a human being isn't there when when you have a spiritual encounter, because it's really interesting. The normal line that you hear from a lot of people from of coming from crossing over from the world into walking with Christ God if you're there. God if you're there.
Simon Pinchbeck:Yeah, yes, God, are you there? God if you're there, yes, you're right. That is a words that are said many times by people who are crying out in their in a desperation sense,
Reverend Ben Cooper:God, are you there?
Simon Pinchbeck:But you know, we have one advantage of a bottom mass? Yeah. Is because Jesus paid the price for Edgar. And he rose again to save us for eternity in salvation. And if you let him lead you to the Father, all right, Vantage bar might had one chance, but I might have had one chance at that time. He was on the side of the road. And Jesus walking by now the timing for bartimaeus was perfect. Yes. If you'd let Jesus if if Jesus chose another road, no chance for Bart may assume Jesus chose another time maybe? No chance for him. We had one chance he took it. Yeah. The advantage we got is that we've got Jesus with us. 24 seven. Yeah. And so whenever you want to call out to Him, He's there. He's waiting. dumped on your back. Don't turn your back on him. Don't say I can do this by myself. Because it'll just end up a mess. You'll make the wrong choice. Yes, you can. ropes. She says there is not a one chance deal is there is not here today. gone tomorrow. No is the same. Yes, I am forever, isn't he?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, His Word is the site. He is the King of glory. And wherever you are across the earth today, we need Jesus you need Jesus, whoever you're broken, doesn't matter how broken you are, it doesn't matter how you can quite yourself to barter myosin, for the blindness and sin blinds us, you know, spiritual blindness, carrying on with life. You know, we're living in a world that's driven completely by time by notoriety and money and fame and this and that. You know what? That other platform that's popped up over the last bit of time, the old Tick Tock the church is so much like the tick tock joke, Genet, you know, what's going on? dancing around, right. Doing, you know, to take with me,
Simon Pinchbeck:you know that? Yeah, I think you're right, that, that Tick Tock church week.
Reverend Ben Cooper:It's all nicey Nice, nice,
Simon Pinchbeck:lovely, you know, let's see Let's pick a lovely scripture and let's talk about how great it is.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah, we're dancing around it when it's not when it's not like that it's part of myos it's part of Myers is that Impaler Meyer putting himself on tik tok amny views video got oh no and looking at that, you know he was blind anyone when he said Oh no, I'd have to get his mom really
Simon Pinchbeck:couldn't really take a selfie bless him but you know you it's that you you edit right Ben? Is that stinking, horrible cloak of rubbish. You've got range. And but but the church on a tick tock. Yes, the age uses Jesus for its agenda
Reverend Ben Cooper:now. Exactly. Oh, yeah.
Simon Pinchbeck:Let's bring a bit of Jesus in telling me I love
Reverend Ben Cooper:this. Make it fun. Let's sew it out. But But how many barter myosins are out there?
Simon Pinchbeck:Don't get involved in my dance, Jesus. Because no, no, this is all about me. Is this all about? I'm
Reverend Ben Cooper:building the profile. We're
Simon Pinchbeck:going we don't need you bombers. We don't need you. But Jesus saying I love you. And I want you and I need you to come to me.
Reverend Ben Cooper:The Tick Tock church was those that was gathered around Jesus. They will clean and tidy smart smelling good. Looking good. dancing around dancing around.
Simon Pinchbeck:The Jesus is gone. Hang on. Let me use you. And let me use what you I agenda for you. Amen. That's what he's saying. Yeah. You know, the, and this really hurts me because I've seen so many men, where the churches just pass them by? Yeah. they've forgotten men. Yeah. The Forgotten men of the church. And that's coming out in a book. Yeah. The Forgotten men in the church. But the church has precedent by men. just gone walked by them. The world is passed on by Yeah. Pastors don't recognize you. What have you got to offer?
Reverend Ben Cooper:Yeah. What have you got? Have you got what have you got?
Simon Pinchbeck:Where's your money? Where's your call? You know,
Reverend Ben Cooper:we don't want the church for the bottom is is.
Simon Pinchbeck:We don't want a church full of broken people. Surely No, God, No,
Reverend Ben Cooper:never. The church has got an ultimate. It's got to look like it's, it's it's so alive. or bottom is was alive. He was alive and he was real. And he said, Jesus, Jesus. Messiah. He is the living God. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Help me. That's the cry
Simon Pinchbeck:helped me. And Jesus goes, I believe in you. Yeah, I believe in you. And I want to use your story. Yeah. Love you so much. But you need to take off that garment, of rags and stench. That's not.
Reverend Ben Cooper:That's not you.
Simon Pinchbeck:That's not you. That's
Reverend Ben Cooper:not you. That's on the outside of you that's trying to control you that's wrapped around you. That heavy comment that heavy garment is going to go?
Simon Pinchbeck:You saying come cast off your clock. Yeah, come and get your miracle today. Come
Reverend Ben Cooper:on, wherever you are, wherever you are. Just hand it over.
Simon Pinchbeck:You know, I don't know. We've said a number of things. We have weather that cloud can represent. But it's where whatever he had in your life that shouldn't be there.
Reverend Ben Cooper:Now. That's right. This is this is really, really important that that would be real. That would be real. We'd be open would be honest.
Simon Pinchbeck:And listen, listen to me right now with this. If you're listening to hear the sound of my voice, Jesus, wherever you are in the world Jesus is, is walking down your road. Reverend Ben Cooper:and it's made me feel very strange today the freedom that is bought if that's been taken those unfamiliar because it's been a cloak for too long.
Simon Pinchbeck:You've cried out Yeah, this is it means cried out. You've cried out
Reverend Ben Cooper:yet cried out. cloak has been heavy. The cloak has been wearing a cloak have been tiring. The cloak starts to define you. The cloak starts to rule you. The cloak starts to talk to you.
