Standing Before Your Jericho

Scripture Reference: Joshua 5:13–15

Podcast Series: Unshakeable – A Daily Christian Devotional Podcast

Have you ever stood before your own Jericho—a challenge so vast, fortified, and immovable it left you wondering if you'd ever see breakthrough? In today's powerful daily devotional, Reverend Ben Cooper takes us on a deep prayer journey rooted in Joshua 5:13, where Joshua stood before Jericho’s massive walls, uncertain yet obedient, knowing that God's promise still stood firm.

This 5-minute devotional prayer is more than encouragement—it's a prophetic declaration for every believer facing battles too big for human strength. Whether you're dealing with health struggles, financial burdens, emotional trauma, family tension, or spiritual warfare, this devotion reminds you that God fights for you, and the walls in your life are already weakening by His power.

We explore the spiritual discipline of faithful persistence—mirrored in the Israelites walking around Jericho. Their actions didn’t make sense in the natural, yet obedience positioned them for supernatural victory. Today’s episode invites listeners to circle their own Jerichos in prayer, hearing the prophetic echo of “walls crumbling” even before breakthrough becomes visible.

This daily prayer encourages us to:

  • See our battles with eyes of faith, not fear.
  • Trust in God's voice more than the noise of the obstacle.
  • Obey even when the outcome is unclear.
  • Declare breakthrough before it’s seen.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

This prayer devotion is your spiritual battle cry, reminding you that even when things seem impossible, God’s promise is already working in the unseen. The episode also touches on the spiritual strongholds in our minds, where fear and doubt can be the real Jericho we must overcome.

Practical Application:

Today, take 5 minutes to spiritually walk around your Jericho. Is it addiction? Debt? Grief? Anxiety? Speak God's promises over it. Don’t underestimate the power of daily prayer and consistent, quiet faithfulness.

Speaker 0:

The prayer that we are praying is coming from the Old Testament, from the book of Joshua, chapter 5, verse 13. Jericho was before them, father, in the name of Jesus. As we look on the platform of life and as we look across the plains of life, and as we look across the plains of Jericho, spirit of the Living God, as we look at this fortified city, as we look at the enemy, dear God, as we see these great walls, father, we can't go under it, we can't go over it. Lord, we can't get around it, we can't get in here without you. Spirit of the Living God, will you help us to be faithful, to walk around Jericho? Will you help us to be faithful to walk around Jericho? Will you help us to be faithful as we walk across the plains of life, the plains of Jericho, as we see the fortified city being locked down? Father, we understand that you locked that down. You locked the enemy down for the Israelites. So today, lord, as we reflect, dear God, inua, chapter 5, verse 13, and onwards, spirit of the living god, whatever the jericho is in our lives, we thank you that it belongs to us. And, lord, we walk faithfully, we walk strong, we walk tall. We trust you in the name of Jesus and Father, as we look across the plains of life, as we look across the desert of dryness, we see in the distance, lord, a city, a fortified city, and we believe in miracles that our God is able. Spirit of the living God, will you break, will you open up, dear God, these walls? Will you destroy what the enemy might be doing to our mind, our thinking, our understanding? And, lord, we thank you that what lies inside of Jericho belongs to us. Father, I thank you.

Speaker 0:

As we are faithful, we walk around right now. We walk around Jericho spiritually. We walk around the now. We walk around jericho spiritually. We walk around the trouble, lord, we walk around the situation and we are quiet and we are still in our voice and, lord, we thank you that there is power in walking and you told the israelites to walk. So, father, we are walking. We are walking by faith, we are trusting you, father, we are exercising our faith and we believe in miracles.

Speaker 0:

But today, at this hour, wherever we are, however, we measure life, whatever lens we use to measure life, spirit of the living god, will you fill us to the full measure because, lord, as we look across the planes of life, as we walk forward, we see so much in front of us and, lord, we will not be fearful of the size of Jericho. We hear the sound, dear God, of walls falling. We hear the sound, dear God, of walls crumbling. We hear the sound, dear God, of masonry coming down. We hear the sound of the power of God.

Speaker 0:

Father, we thank you that you, dear God, will destroy Jericho. We thank you, lord, as we are faithful in little, as we walk, lord, as we just close our eyes and say today is the day, god. Today is the day, god, when we will see Jericho fall. We will see fortified cities fall, we will see Goliaths fall. We will see, dear God, rivers, open seas, be parted in the name of Jesus. But as we come to you, lord, as brothers and sisters of the word of God, we believe in miracles. And wherever we are across the world, we thank you that Jericho is in our hands. Jericho belongs to us. We thank you that we are not defeated but we are faithful, we are steadfast in the gospel of truth.

Speaker 0:

And today, lord, wherever my brothers and sisters are across the world, lord, I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead them, that the fire of God will fall on them and the presence of the word of God will lead them, that the fire of God will fall on them and the presence of the word of God will lift them out of the ashes of life. And today they will listen and they will hear the sound of walls crumbling. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we thank you so much for joining us today on this daily Christian prayer podcast with myself.
