Psalm 23:4 — Jesus, Comfort Me When the Night Begins to Feel Heavy NT Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 — “The God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” OT Scripture: Psalm 23:4 — “Even though I walk through the valley, I will fear no harm, for You are with me.” Time: Wednesday, Live from London, England Cities: Rio de Janeiro • Mumbai • New York • Porto • Nairobi As evening settles and the world begins to quieten, Jesus, I bring to You the thoughts and emotions that have gathered through the day. You are the One who walks beside me when the night feels heavy, and You understand the moments where calm is needed more than anything else. Your Word tells me that even when I move through uncertain places, I am never without Your presence. You remain close, steadying my heart with a comfort that reaches deeper than worry or strain, offering peace that softens the pace of my mind. Your kindness reassures me that I do not need to face the evening alone. Lord, let Your comfort fill the spaces where tiredness lingers. Bring light to the edges of my thoughts, warmth to the places that feel unsettled, and rest to the tension that sometimes rises as night approaches. Help me recognise that You are near, guiding me gently, giving me space to breathe, and reminding me that every step is held within Your care. Let Your peace touch the emotions that have felt stretched and bring clarity where things seemed unclear. You know the quiet concerns I carry, and You meet them with steady, patient grace. As the evening deepens, Jesus, place a calm covering over my home and over the hearts of those I love. Let Your presence settle like a peaceful rhythm, allowing my thoughts to unwind and my spirit to be restored. You are the God of all comfort, and in Your care I find the strength to release the pressures of the day. I trust You with this hour, with my rest, and with all that will come when the sun rises again. Hold me in Your gentle peace as I prepare for the night ahead. Welcome to Daily Prayer with myself, Reverend Van Cooper, recorded live here in London, England, where the world gathers for five minutes of faith, love, hope, and strength. If you've got a prayer request, you can email us to the studio, which is info at dailyprayer.uk. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your shares. Thank you to everybody that sends messages in. And whatever way you send them in, there are many ways to contact us. And thank you so much for your lovely, kind words. It really means a lot. It really does, you know, and I thank God for your life. And wherever you are today, I pray and I believe that the Holy Spirit is in your life. And even though we're walking through some dark areas of life, I believe God is giving you comfort. It might not look like that. God takes us to the wire, God takes us through the refiner's fire. He is strengthening us. You know, prayer strengthens us. Prayer strengthens us. You might feel like you're like Daniel in the lion's den. You've been thrown in that situation. Maybe you feel like Meshach, Shamrach, and Abendigo, that you've been placed in the fire, but Jesus is walking with you. You might feel like you're in the valley of the shadow of death. But let me tell you, no harm will be for you. Because God is with you. He's in the valley. He's in the mountaintop experience. He's with you at school. He's with you at work. He's with you at home. He sees your tears. He sees your pain. Even though you're smiling on the outside, even though you dress well, you're looking pretty, you're looking handsome. Everything is done precise. He sees your heart. He sees what you're carrying. And he's saying, Come to me. Come to me, all of you that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray. Jesus, comfort me when the night hour starts to become heavy. Jesus, comfort me on the commute run home. Comfort me, Lord, as I go back from school. Comfort me, dear God, as I as I get out of work today. Help me, dear God, as I'm at home and I feel lonely. Comfort me as I live on my own. Comfort me, dear God, on the school run. Comfort me in the gym. Lord, comfort me, Lord, as I take the dogs for a walk in the woods and in the fields. Comfort me, Lord, because Lord, this life feels very odd. And Lord, the heaviness, Lord, the heavy atmosphere, Lord, this atmosphere that is around at this moment. Lord, as we watch and as we listen to the news channels, we realize, dear God, that we are in trouble, but we are not, because the Spirit of the Lord is with us. So dear God, I pray. Jesus, comfort me when night begins to feel heavy. Jesus, comfort me when the night becomes overwhelming. Jesus, comfort me when the family, dear God, are going crazy. Jesus, comfort me when I don't get nothing from church. Jesus, comfort me when I don't get nothing from Pastor Ben. Lord, comfort me when I don't get nothing from the world. Jesus, I need comfort right now. I believe that the Spirit of the Lord is over your life. And as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil because his rod and his staff is there to bring comfort. The Spirit of the Lord is with you. Father, I thank you that we're healed. Lord, we believe in healing. Lord, we pray for healing in our lives right now. Lord, as as the night starts to get heavy, as we start thinking maybe about the ailments, dear God, the things that we are carrying, the worries of health anxiety, the panic attacks, the doubts, the worry about money, the financial implications. We're worried about work. We're worried about life. We're worried about the circle of life. Father, the rhythm of life. And dear God, I pray that wherever we are here, live in London, England, all the way to New York, all the way, dear God, to Mumbai, all the way to South Africa, all the way to Israel, Spirit of the Living God, we pray that you will move in our hearts. Lord, as this nighttime starts to come in. Lord, as we worry about the midnight hours, we worry about the loneliness in the house. Lord, where we live, whatever we are doing. Lord, bring comfort to those that are driving now. Bring comfort to those that are commuting right now. Bring comfort to those that are cooking right now, washing, cleaning, looking after the children, just sitting there. Holy Spirit, bring comfort to whoever we are, wherever we are. I thank the Lord that the Spirit of God is with us. From the battlefields to the Passover table, from the Passover table to the swimming club, from the swimming club to the football club, to the football club to the rugby, to the netball, to the gym, to golf, to life itself, to all the activities under the sun, whatever you are doing, cutting the grass, walking the dogs, sitting down on the sofa. If you've just got indoors and you've just run indoors, slam the front door, chat yourself on the sofa. God is with you. Never ever give up. The Spirit of the Lord is with you. Come on, come on, let's get close to Jesus. God loves you. Jesus, comfort me when the night becomes heavy. Never give up, never give in. Jesus Christ is with you. I will catch you soon. Don't go too far.
