Hello, hello. Welcome to a novel console, your weekly podcast where we talk about books, games, food, and stuff that caught our attention during the week. I don't remember how I said that. I don't remember if it's your weekly podcast, if I said your weekly podcast or not. It's not. It might be. It might not be. But uh, no food, no books this week. Uh Caredyn is not with me. She is actually in her factory right now, preparing for an event that we have this weekend. We're gonna be in uh North Carolina at an event called Bookmarks selling her jewelry, her fidget clickers, and all that fun stuff. Um, you can check it all out at annovelbobble.com if you feel like buying something from her. It's all really cool shit. All nerdy shit, all booky shit. So yeah. Um, this week I was supposed to talk with Eric Guess about Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for the Game Boy Advance. Uh, unfortunately, he had a little bit of a family um emergency. Uh, so he will be back next week. He told me that next week we're gonna record. If Eric, if you're listening to this, if you can't record next week, that's fine. We have more than enough time. Uh, we have until the end of time, actually, to record it. I have all of my notes, I'm never gonna forget it, and I know the game is ingrained into your memory because you know, guiding keys. Check out guiding keys is an awesome Kingdom Hearts podcast that Eric did over at the Unlockables. Um, so yeah, I hope uh everything gets better, and uh I hope that uh uh everybody makes a full recovery soon and uh all that good stuff. So uh I've been racking my brain trying to figure out exactly what to do today. Uh because I I you know I I've been getting a lot of I wouldn't say a lot, I've been getting a few review keys, which was kind of like one of the goals that I wanted to have happen when I started a novel console. You know, I wanted to get review keys for certain games, um, so that I could talk about them, you know, get to play them before not really the get to play them before anybody else, most more like get to play the games and give my opinions and have my opinion not really mean something, but be listened to by somebody and then hopefully influence somebody to buy whatever it is that I'm talking about. And I've been getting some keys. Um, recently I covered uh Isle of Reverie, which was great. Uh Beastmaster, the Barbarian saga, the Beastmaster with Thrack. That one was a game. Um, I believe we are going to record Sunday again, so we should have something out Monday. And if we do, I'm gonna be covering another game on there. And uh I've had people reach out and be like, hey, I think this would be a good fit for the show. So I I've got pretty much a game every uh what's it called? Um every coffee and hand health that we do that I can talk about, which is great. I that's one of the cool things about coffee and handhelds. I I can showcase a game that you most likely wouldn't play or look at or touch or whatever, and I did for an hour and I brought it to you, and I'm telling you it if it's awesome or not. Um, so yeah, I'm pretty sure the one that I'm gonna cover on the next on the next and on the following coffee and handhelds is gonna be are gonna be pretty cool. Um so yeah, hopefully more of these review keys, bigger, higher profile games keep coming in, and uh I'll be very, very happy because that is one of the main goals that I had for this podcast when I started. Um Carden already gets crazy ass books that she wants to read sent to her, so that's really cool. Um, unfortunately, she can't really get a read on the entire book from just reading a couple of chapters. She actually needs to finish the entire thing. So uh, but uh Karen will be back. We'll be back a couple of days maybe. If not, definitely next Friday. I'll have something else out, and it might be something like today. So, from the title of this episode, I'm guessing you already know. Uh, I I want to bitch about the Switch 2 and the game selection for it. Um, I was having issues trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn't really want to cover one of these games because I really haven't put a lot of time into the games that I've been getting review codes for because I've I've been doing a whole bunch of other stuff. You know, I'm doing consoles and stuff, and uh on the side, I am actively looking for a part-time position somewhere so that I could carry a couple of bills that I really don't want to pay with uh business money. So, you know, just those bills that feel like you're throwing money into the void, they they will kill your business, like you know. Unfortunately, electric and uh water and rent, those those are huge money sinks that you know it like I said, throwing money into a void that you're never gonna see again. Uh so fuck where I live, uh, because uh I don't want to put money into it. Uh places of living should be free. So I I was thinking about what can I bitch about, what can I talk about? Um, do I want to talk about PlayStation? Not really, because fuck Sony. Um their fucking attitude lately is horrific uh towards gamers. Like, I give me the option of being able to buy either physical or digital. Don't force me into one because I am not I am not gonna respond well to it. It kind of feels like that. Uh oh, I'm gonna wash the dishes, and your mom's like, go wash the dishes, and you're like, I'm not gonna fucking wash the dishes now because you told me to wash the dishes. It feels like that with Sony, at least to me. And uh Microsoft has their own bullshit going on with all the layoffs and shit that they did, and it's just it feels gross to be a gamer nowadays, and it's not even because of the games or the content of them, it's because of this fuck-ass shit that all these companies are doing, which is fucking horrific, it's atrocious. Like, why what the fuck is is Bobby Kodick having a new fucking yacht worth firing hundreds of people and having them not know where their next meal is gonna come from? Like, fuck Bobby Kodick, fuck every CEO that you know does this fuck ass shit. Like, come on, these people make you their money, back them. What what the fuck is wrong with you? Um, anyways, uh so yeah, uh Sony and another thing that I wanted to bring up. Um where I live, it's getting really hard to find physical video games. Um, I have two very small towns near where I live, um, and then I have a big kind of city uh near uh about an hour away where I live. And that big city has a Best Buy, it has GameStops, it has Targets, cast a couple of Walmarts, but it's getting really hard to find Xbox games, which is what I I've been buying lately. You know, I bought Star Wars Zero Company for Xbox and it took forever because I had to order it through PNP games. I couldn't even order it through VGP because VGP didn't even have it, so I ordered it through PNP. Took like two or three weeks to get here. Um, I also have issues with VGP because I ordered a Nitro deck 2 back in June, and it got to the hub area where all packages come to where I live, and then for some reason I went down to Miami, and now it's back to that hub. So I'm I'm pretty fucking annoyed. Uh USPS is also doing a shit job. Um, and it it all this shit trickles down from the fucking precedent all the way down to us. So, like, I I talk to my my male lady, I'm like, this is ridiculous. What the fuck are these people doing? She's like, I know it's the administration that we've had for the past couple of years, they keep just fucking shit up, and of course it trickles down. Like, I was gone for a year in Orlando just doing uh this contract uh that I did, and she told me that because I wasn't home and I wasn't sending out my usual amount of packages for consoles and stuff, she lost five thousand dollars off of her check because now they track how many trips you do between the house and the vehicle, how many packages you scan, and all this fucked up crazy ass shit that sounds like fuck ass stuff that Amazon used to do, which is wow, what the fuck? These are federal employees, they should be pensioned, this should be a job a job for life, and you're breaking their bodies, they're probably not even gonna retire because they're gonna have to quit before their bodies break. Anyways, everything is awful, and something that's kind of awful at least it looks kind of awful, is the Switch 2. Um when the Switch 2 came out, my brother-in-law got it. I I tried out Mario Kart World, I I thought it was okay, I didn't really uh it didn't seem as good as Mario Kart 8 to me. So I I kind of like played it a bit and I was like, okay, um fine, uh something else better will come along. Um, bunch of other games came out and none of them caught my attention, but then Donkey Kong Bonanza was coming out, and I was like, oh shit, this is my chance to get uh Switch 2. I can get fucking Donkey Kong Bonanza. This is gonna be awesome. I I can be a monkey eating bananas, it's gonna be fucking great. And I bought it and I started playing it. I'm like, this isn't as good as I hoped for it to be. Like, this is nowhere near as good as I wanted this game to be. Supposedly, from what I've heard, it was made by the same team that did the Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Odyssey, which is an incredible game. It's probably top three Nintendo Switch games of all time. Not Switch 2, Nintendo, well, probably Switch 2, because um, so yeah, uh uh I I was I was hyped. Like to me, that was my system seller. I specifically bought a Switch 2 for that game, and I was playing it, and I was like, this isn't awesome. I don't think this is great. Um, so I I begrudgingly finished it. Uh Will from the chat from from Discord. Um, you guys have heard him on previous episode. Um, and he he's all over the place, he's all in all the communities. Um he was like, all the good stuff is in the postgame, but by the time I got to the postgame, I was like, I'm done. I don't really want to deal with this anymore. So uh I did a trade with one of my buddies from Puerto Rico, actually, Kiko, which he has been on the show as well. Um, we did a trade, uh, I think we he traded a couple of games for Donkey Kong and and Wukong. And uh he told me a couple of weeks ago that he's playing it, but he just goes into it, breaks a whole bunch of shit, and that's kind of it. So he he's not even like actually putting his time into it and like plowing through and and getting the game, you know, beaten or or whatever. He's just using it as as some kind of I don't know, like a a fucking stress reliever. So when I got the Switch uh 2, they didn't have the Mario Kart edition, which is perfectly fine. Um so I ended up getting the regular version, so I didn't get Mario Kart Digital, I didn't get Mario Kart for a while. Um, I did get Donkey Kong immediately. That was the first game I bought. Then I also bought uh Brave Lee, Bravely Default Flying Fairy. So this is a HD remaster of the original game that was released so long ago on the 3DS. Um and uh when I bought it, it said game key card, whatever. Uh I popped it into the Switch, game downloaded, didn't even start it. Um, this is a game that I'm probably gonna play someday. Someday, probably not anytime soon. This is probably gonna be one of those uh it's a couple of months of drought, so this is what I'm playing because you know, but I've heard people say this is a good game. Um, I don't really know if I have the Bravely default original game on the 3DS. I think I have the sequel. Um, so yeah, I got that one. I also got one that I'm very interested in that I talked about last week with Dre, which is Rhydol Remastered the Mystery of the Soulless Army. So this is a Shin Megami Tensei. I think Thrack cleared up on Discord that this is uh a persona, not persona, a tales of style game uh where you run around the field, you attack um and all that stuff. Uh you have your personas and not your not your personas, your demons that you summon, and uh they help you out during battle. So I think this one looks pretty cool. I think I actually tried this when it was out on PlayStation 2 long, long, long ago, and it didn't click for some reason. I was also very stupid back then. But this game is also a game key card. Um, so I it it worries me that these games are game key cards, and as I go through these games, you know, there a lot of them are gonna be game key cards, like this one uh hitman World of Assassination Signature Edition, another game key card. Uh, this one has all three Hitman games in one collection. Um, a hundred hours of gameplay, enter the world of the ultimate assassin. So if you've played Hitman, you know what this is about. You know, you be stealthy, you do missions, you kill people, certain people in specific ways, uh, be quiet so that they don't know. And uh yeah, this this is this is a really cool game that I've wanted to play and get into for a long time, especially since after I finished Bond. I saw a lot of Hitman in it. But I do have a problem with these type of games, and it's that I am not a make your own fun type of gamer. Um, I I want things laid out for me. I think the Bond game did it perfectly, like it was all laid out, and they were like, you can do it this way, this way, and this way, and you just pick a way. And this one is like, you gotta kill that person, figure it out. And to me, it goes back to the Breath of the Wild, not really Breath of the Wild, more like the Tears of the Kingdom type of gameplay that I'm not a fan of, which is you know, figure out your own fun. Hey, you can make a cart and get from here to there. Go do it. I don't want that, that is not fun to me. Um, so but I like I said, I really like Bond, and I think that this game should be an easy like for me. Um, I think I tried the first hit man, I did the first mission, which is kind of like a training in a boat in a warehouse, and I thought that was pretty cool. Then I started doing the second mission and I killed the first target, and then the second I couldn't get alone for some reason, and it was like 45 minutes into the stage, and I was like, I'm done. So, you know, it's it's a lot of work. Um it's definitely one of those you gotta have the patience for it. And I don't know if I have the patience for it right now. So, but again, another fucking key card game. Then I got uh Super Mario Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 edition. I had the uh original Switch version. Um when I bought the original Switch version, I played the first stage and I was like, this is pretty cool. And then I was like, wait, I forgot something. Let me go back and try to get it, and I couldn't figure out how to get it. So I looked up how to get it, and then the next stage I saw that I missed a couple more of the collectibles. I think it's like the little flowers or whatever. And basically the guide said, Okay, you're gonna have to do this, grab these things, get out of the stage, like finish the stage, then start the stage over again so that you can grab whatever it is you missed. And I was like, No, no, I am I'm not doing that. No, keep your fucking game. I am not going to replay a stage twice because the devs decided to build them this stupid way. It is a stupid way to build a stage, right? I know it adds replay value, longevity, whatever the fuck you want to call it to your game, but no, that this is not the way to do it. The way to do it is not finish the stage and then replay it a different way because you miss a collectible. And if you want to get the true ending, then you're gonna have to get all the collectibles, which means replaying the stages up to three fucking different times. I am not doing that. So I got this one, I got a very good deal on it, so I picked it up. Um, and I'm I'm probably never gonna play it, it's just gonna sit in my collection until the fucking end of time. And then the biggest disappointment. Uh, along with Super Mario Wonder, I got a very good deal also on Mario Kart World, so I picked it up. And I like the cover art of the case. I think the cover art is awesome, but the game itself does not do the cover art any justice. Um, I beat the game in like maybe two hours, did all the races, all the the the knockouts, uh everything. I I I yeah, I think it took me like two, maybe three hours to to get it all done. Um, and sometimes uh Thrak Bill from 3DO with Thrack and Tony, uh, we all get together and play Mario Kart World, we fuck around, do a couple of races, and then we're like, we're bored, we need to play something else. Like, we cannot find anything else to play because and it goes by quick how bored we get of this game, which is crazy. Um, so after you beat all of the races and uh you do all of the whatevers, there's really nothing to do. You do have the open world to explore and like collect coins and submissions and outfits and all that, but who the fuck wants to do that? I don't. I don't want to play a fucking open world Mario Kart game, like and the map is so fucking boring too. And on top of that, it doesn't have a very good map to explore the world. Uh it I it's not for me. Mario Kart World is a big dis it's a big disappointment. I I I so uh last year I went to uh Colorado uh in November, I think. So Metroid Prime 4 Beyond had just released. I bought it, uh put it in the Switch, installed it, got it ready to play, and it's still installed in my Switch, and I've never played it. I've I've heard and read and listened to all of the reviews saying the Metro stuff is good, the extra characters suck, the open worlds suck, but everything else is fine, and that's not what I want from my Metroid game. I don't want it to be fine, I want it to be amazing, like Dread. And I think this next Metroid that's coming up next is gonna be pretty fucking cool. Uh, but beyond, I don't know, and it also doesn't help that they released Metroid Prime remastered and they don't do Metroid Prime 2 or Metroid Prime 3, they don't even put them on the uh Nintendo Switch um uh Nintendo GameCube virtual console, they don't even put them there. Like, what the fuck? I I want to play those games, I want to know the story before I hop into Prime 4 because I don't know, those are huge blind spots blind spots. I beat Prime 1 for the first time when it came out on the original Switch, so I I want the rest of the story. It might not be a lot, but I will know at least more or less what's happening, right? And this one just just doesn't seem like it's it. Um, that doesn't mean I'm never gonna play it. I'm probably gonna play it someday, but it's just not gonna be anytime soon. And and this is let's go ahead and do something really cool. I'm gonna do a stack of games that are cartridge uh key cards and a stack of games that is not key cards, that is actually full game on the cartridge. And one that really surprised me that I absolutely loved, and it should come to no surprise to anybody that has heard me talk about video games before, especially on this podcast, was Hyrule Warriors A. Of imprisonment. Um Hyrule Warriors, so it's Dynasty Warriors, but Zelda uh set in the war time of the calamity when Zelda goes back in time to in Tears of the Kingdom and she's there with Raru and the Queen and she's defending the land from Ganon. That it's it's that story, and I am going to be 100% honest with you people. I fucking hate the new Zelda timeline. The uh Breath of the Wild timeline, the Tears of the Kingdom timeline, the Calamity timeline timeline, the all of it. I hate it. It's terrible. It is fucking awful. It is insanely boring. It is so dull. The characters are all obnoxious, especially Sidon. I fucking hate it. So I thought I was gonna hate this game. I thought, you know, I'll just power through, just play some fun Zelda Warriors style thing. And I ended up actually really fucking liking this game, the story, and the characters. Who knew that all you had to do to make an interesting Zelda game is get rid of Link and put it where the fucking action is happening and not in the aftermath of all the fucked up shit happening, right? Who would have thought conflict is interesting? So, yeah, it it you play as Zelda and a bunch of other characters, you play as Raru, his sister, uh, you play as uh some new sages that they introduce into the game. Um, and you get to see the Goron learning about Ganon Dorf, um, the all the species, but most importantly, the most interesting one, the Gerudo figuring out that oh, Ganon is evil. We need to band with these people so that we can put down one of our own that is trying to destroy the world. That was super fucking interesting, and then they go back into what I don't know if it's the Sony or whatever, the the old uh uh mechons, not mechons, the the the machines or whatever. They they go into that and the role that they play and what they're supposed to do, and then there's like one automaton that has a shard of the master sword in him, so his personality is basically Link. Um, so he's super overpowered, but it it is the story is very interesting. The gameplay is, of course, a whole lot of fucking fun, and I think the coolest thing they could have done was turn Zelda into a fucking Jedi. She is literally a Jedi, she has a fucking lightsaber, force powers, time manipulation powers. Like it is such a difference between what Zelda has been portrayed like in previous Warriors games. I thought Zelda and the original Hyrule Warriors was pretty cool. Um, I absolutely hated her in Age of Calamity. Um, she she was not a good playable character. All her powers revolved, all her all her attacks revolved around using the tablet, and it was slow, and the hit rates were weird, and and it was just strange and awful. And then they force you to have Sidon in your party, and he's just a fucking dickhead. I I can't fucking stand that guy. He is. I know that that fucking guy talks shit about Link behind his back, and then when Link pops up, he's like, You're my best friend, let's hang out. I want you to be my best man and my wife. Fuck off, dick fucking shit stain. Anyways, uh Hiro Warriors Age of Imprisonment is a really good fucking Zelda Warriors game. I think it's probably the best one so far. As much as I love the original one on the original Switch, I I think this one is much, much better. So that that is definitely a must-a buy from me. And the coolest thing is the entire game is on the cartridge, so no no key on that one. Now, one that has a key that surprised me a lot, and it also surprised me that I bought this, because this is definitely not my type of game, is Pokemon Pokopia. Uh, this is a game key card, which what? Um why? Uh, I think I don't think this is in the your in the original Switch. If it is, then I don't I don't I don't fucking get it. I don't know why this is a key card, because I don't think the original Switch has key card games. Um, this is Animal Crossing style uh Pokemon game where you play as a Ditto trying to revive a town, if I'm not mistaken. Um I'll play it someday, um, probably not anytime soon. I am not a fan of these little cozy games. Um, I played Animal Crossing when it came out on the original original Switch, and I wasn't a fan. Um, I I don't have the creativity and the mental capacity to design a town that works. It's not even design a town that looks good, it's just a town that works. I don't have the fucking capacity for it. Like, if you would have seen my island in Animal Crossing, I had the villagers like super spread out away from each other, like they were far as far from each other, which is crazy. So, but I've seen a lot of people play this, uh, a lot of thoughts about the game, people saying that it's very good, that it it's Animal Crossing, but different. Um, maybe someday I'll try it out. And that's another one for the pile of key card games. So far, we're four and four. Uh Pokemon Legends CA. I've been thinking about starting this one for a while. I'm I'm I think I'm in the mood for a Pokemon game, but I'm kind of in the mood of a Pokemon game kind of like the Scarlet and Violet games. I don't want to replay Scarlet uh or play Violet because I beat beat it on the original Switch. I really don't feel like I'm gonna get anything out of a game like that again, except for the gameplay. And this one might give me exactly what I'm looking for, but I might as well just play Arceus first. Uh I've I've heard people tell me if have you played Arceus? It's like I I tried it, and then they're like, okay, then go back to it because you're not gonna like ZA. ZA is a lot different. Um I do think the starters are pretty cool. I do love Totodial and Teppig, Chikorita nostalgia purposes, yeah, but other than that, not really. I I love that they brought the Mega Evolutions back, but they they kind of look kind of poopy because uh they don't look as cool as they did on the 3DS. You know, the the Mega Evolutions and Pokemon X and Y looked amazing. Here they look weird. I don't know what it is, but they look pretty weird. And also I find kind of strange the whole the Pokemon are living in the city with the humans, and there's specific areas where you go to to catch and battle and all that, and uh I find that strange. Uh while I was in Colorado, this game had come out, and two of my buddies were playing it at the same time, and they were both like, this is great. Uh, don't start with this one, but it's great. So um, yeah, like one of them beat it, and he's like, I just finished it. Let's go get Zelda because I'm gonna start Zelda. I don't think he started Zelda. That that whole Zelda thing, the the the Hyrule Warriors. I got that one in Colorado, and that one, man, that was a search. We went to like four Walmarts, like three Best Buys. We ended up having to order it, like do a pickup order from Best Buys that we can get the fucking game, because nowhere had it, nowhere had it physical. It's crazy. Um, so maybe it's just a nationwide shortage on video games. Like, what the fuck? Now, I did pick up the adventures of Elliot when it came out. I I think this game looks great. Um, I think it plays great. Uh, I know some people on the Discord don't like it, particularly Burger Champ. Uh, but Dave Carter thinks it's pretty good, and I thought it was pretty good, but something else came along and I dropped it, so I didn't really put a lot of time into it. I think I put like maybe five hours. Uh, at this point, I think I might have to start this game all over again, which I really don't want to do, but it's probably what I'm gonna have to do. Um, another key card, so man, the fucking key card pile is is pretty even. Next, I have one that really surprises me that it's a key card and not an actual full game on the cartridge, and that is the Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD2D remake. Um, I I bought this because, like I've said before, I'm trying to get into Dragon Quest. I played the original Dragon Quest, I thought it was good. Um, I'm hoping that two is better in this game, so at some point I'm probably gonna play through this whole thing. Um, and you know it kind of weirds me out that it's a key card because this is a full release on cartridge on the Switch. The reason why I didn't buy it on the Switch is because I hate the spines on the Switch games, I think they look fucking horrific. Going hunting for Switch games is one of the worst experiences I've ever had, uh, because it's all the same sea of red with what small white letters, so it just destroys my vision. And it gets to a point where I don't want to do it. I went to a store in New York a few years ago, I think I've told this before, and they had uh a case, all their Switch games were in a giant case. It was probably I don't know, like uh 20, 20, 25 feet of just cases of Nintendo Switch games, like all double stacked one on top of the other, and I made it through probably half of the first case, and I was like, I I can't do this shit. I I have no idea what the fuck I'm looking at. Um, I think Nintendo really fucked up by making the spines just red and white. Um, but I I'm a fucking idiot because I bought this just because of the spine, because I probably could have gotten it on Switch 1 and had both games in the same cartridge. Um, and I just noticed this. I probably opened this just now for the first time um after taking the plastic off. And the inside is reversible, so it has like the original Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest II art on one side, and then on the other, it has the Dragon Quest II art, and I think that's pretty fucking cool. I I like this a lot. Um shame that it's a key card though. So that's kind of gross. So uh, but next, I think this is another key card. I think I have more key card games than actual game games. Uh Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. I have this on 3DS, I've never played it. I know it came out on PlayStation 1. Uh, apparently, this is way, way better of an experience for Dragon Quest VII. Um, I I think it looks pretty cool. I wonder if uh they're gonna be doing uh remakes of older Dragon Quest games in this style instead of just the HD 2D. Because this looks great. I think this would have been cool as an HD 2D game, but uh at as this type of game, it looks good. It's how do I explain it? It looks kind of CG, kind of like uh one of the newer animated CG movies, so it's like super detailed, very expressive, very good looking, but also it just it's kind of like top-down, and it kind of keeps that Dragon Quest feel to it, very Akira Toriyama looking characters. It it looks good. Um, I'll play it someday, and that day is not today. Then another one that doesn't surprise me, but it's a key card, Tales of Arise, Beyond the Dawn edition. I bought this on PlayStation 4 when it came out. I got the PS5 patch. Um, I never bought the DLC, so this came out, and I thought, you know what, it would be pretty fucking cool to own this with everything in one place. Little did I know it was a game key card, so I don't own shit. I just own the ability to download it from the Nintendo eShop. Um I'm interested in this game from what I played on the PlayStation 4 or 5 when I played it. It it's pretty cool. Um, there's kind of a Anemies to Lovers situation going on here. So for all you girlies that love that kind of stuff, this might be a great game for you. And uh, we've officially overtaken the key cart list, the full game on cartridge by three games right now. Then another one that surprises me. This one, oh my god, what? Why? I don't even know how the fuck I got this shit. Uh Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 for the Nintendo Switch 2. This is a key card. Why? Why is this a key card? What the fuck? These games you can fucking run these games on a fucking toenail clipper. Oh god, this is ridiculous. It just goes to show you oh, and look at this for the full game, you need four gigabytes of memory. I'm pretty sure the cartridge itself has more than four fucking gigabytes of memory. This is this is ridiculous. It's fucking stupid. Next, oh god, this game. Uh Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2. I really like this game. I like this game a lot. Do I like it more than the 3DS version? Fuck no, but I like it a lot. Um, I feel like this is a good step uh for the Star Fox series. I feel like this is a good direction to go in. A little bit more serious, a little bit uh more uh uh anthropomorphized animals, less animated, more realistic. I think the realism of how the characters look make this game a more serious than if they just looked like they've always looked. Um I really like this game. Am I gonna play this game whenever I feel like playing Star Fox? Definitely not. Am I gonna play it every once in a while? Yeah. The multiplayer is awesome. There's the challenge mode that's pretty cool. Uh, there's you know all sorts of things that you can do. You can go through the story, go through the alternate paths, all that really cool shit. It's a great Star Fox remake. Um, it's it's great. If this is your player first time playing Star Fox and it's this game, I I think it it's fantastic. Um recently they released the Star Fox Adventures on the Nintendo GameCube Switch Online thing, and uh, I've been playing through it. It looks rough, you can definitely see the stitching, uh, especially in HD. Um, uh and even more on a big ass fucking TV. Um sorry, I keep hearing the click clicks. Um, I keep fucking fidgeting with the boxes. Um, so I've been playing through that. I I think it's it's great. If they remake that game with this style, I think it would be really, really weird, but I would dig it. Um if they decide to take the story in another way, I would be fine with it. Um, I don't know. I really want to see what Nintendo does go with Star Fox going forward. I don't know if this is gonna be like the super seller they want it to be, so that they could dump all their money into it like they did with Zelda. Um, I I did see a video uh it this year or last year where some retro studios people made a pitch about a Star Fox game, and basically they pitched what if Star Fox was Breath of the Wild, but in space, and it was really fucking cool. Uh basically, they wanted you to have uh B Fox, right? And you would go to different planets to do your missions and stuff. Uh I think the missions were procedurally generated. Um, you also had like rivals that would invade your uh area of operations or whatever. You would have different R wings, like upgrades, there would be like scoring systems with leaderboards, so it was kind of like a mix of Breath of the Wild, Star Fox, and Dark Souls. So it it sounded really fucking cool, and Retro Studios went like, huh, okay, and did nothing with it. No pitch, no nothing. They just be okay, like fucking idiots. Now, I am actually currently playing right now Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, and I am having a very hard time breaking into this game, right? There's a lot of talking, just just off the bat, there's a whole lot of fucking talking. There's more talking in this game than in this entire project that is a novel console. A whole lot more talking than this. Um, it is tact the the fights are incredible. The the the the fire emblem formula is impeccable as always. There's a little bit of a dungeon crawling aspect to it too. With turn-based fights, I think that's great. I think it should have been fleshed out a little bit more. Um, but it's great. I like the characters, I like how serious, no nonsense the characters feel. Like I'm right now I'm playing Ladest Path, um, which is the dancer, and she is like vicious, bloodthirsty, I want my fucking revenge right now, type of character, and I feel like that's something that you don't see often. And I think she's great in it, and she services the story amazingly. I'm pretty sure the other characters are just as great. I'm probably gonna play through the entire thing, it'll probably take me a couple of months, but Fire Emblem Fortune Sweeve is a great, great game. Um, I just wish the talking was a whole lot less, and I'm still like an hour five, and like I said, I'm having a hard time. I keep putting it down. Um, I I don't know if it's the game on my TV or what, but I kind of get like these terrible fucking headaches, and they're in the back of my neck whenever I'm playing this game, so I have to take breaks from it. Um, but at some point I'm gonna break through and it's gonna click, and I am gonna play it all the way through and really enjoy it because what I I've played so far, I've really enjoyed. But other than that, fun game. So, last game that I have for the Switch 2 is Star Wars Outlaws. I think I got this a few days ago actually for like $15 at Target. Check your targets, people. Target is doing like almost weekly purge of their video game inventory, and you will find some really good shit for super cheap. This game came out a couple months ago. Star Wars Outlaws, it's a gold edition, so it includes the game plus the season pass, all the DLCs so far, plus all the fixes that they've added on to the game. And I played this on PS5 when it came out. I fucking loved it, it was incredible. I love the characters, I love the story. It it it this game is what if Red Dead Redemption was Star Wars and Arcadey? It it's great, it's so much fun. I really, really fucking enjoyed this game. I think a lot of people would too if they gave it a chance, but they won't because the main character isn't hot enough, and you're fucking stupid for saying that, dumbass. Uh, but that's another key card game. And my stack of games right now, I have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten games that are key cards, and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven games that are not key cards, that are full games on the cartridge. And you know, these full games, they're Nintendo first party releases, so it kind of makes sense that they're full releases, but then again, Pocopia is a Nintendo property and it's not a full key card release. So my fear is that someday, right? We don't know how these keycards are gonna end up playing out. Someday Nintendo will either shut down the servers for the Nintendo Switch 2, which it's super highly likely unless they keep the Switch to in Switch format going on forever and the the shops migrate. Um so they'll do that and the game flow be lost forever. You won't be able to download them unless you already have them installed on your console. Or they lose the rights to the game, it goes away, get stuck in some sort of legal bullshit, and we're never able to redeem the keycards for these games again. That is my fear. That is what I'm afraid of right now that is gonna happen. So I've tried to make it make a mental note that if there is a switch one version and a switch two version, I should get the switch one version because one it'll download the switch two version automatically when I install it and run the updates and whatever, and it'll be on the key card. So even if it if the servers go away eventually, I'll still be able to play it off of the key of the cart. It won't be a key card where it downloads. And again, like I said, the spines on the Switch 1 games they just drive me crazy. But there's ways for you to download like cover art and just print it out, place it in, and it look fine. Um but still, you know, I was looking at my list of games that I bitten beaten this year. I've beaten not a lot. Uh the the earliest Switch 2 game that I beaten this year was Mario Kard World. I gave it an 8. Because it's a fun game, but then everything else I've played on the Switch 2 has been a lot of Switch 1 games. Uh so like Cosmo Dreamer, which is a Qt'em up, Lyka Dreamer, another Qt'em up, uh Midnight Castle Succubus, which is kind of like a little Metroidvania game. Uh East Memoir, uh The Oath and Volgana. I beat that on the Switch 2. It ran amazing. Uh Hyrule Warriors, I gave that a 9 out of 10. Uh Gal Guardian, Demon Purge, 6 out of 10. I played that on the Switch 2. Uh Luigi's Mansion. I actually played that on the GameCube Ebulator. Uh Sold of Four Swords for the Game Boy Advance. I beat that with Tony Thrack and Build. That was a fun time. Record of Lotus War, Deat Lid in Wonderland. Again, it ran great. Uh Blake Cramer was on the Steam Deck, Star Fox, uh, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, I beat it recently all over again. Uh, so there's been quite a bit of stuff that I've been playing on the Switch 2, and it all runs better. It feels like the Switch 2. Okay, so let's put it this way. If you have a Switch 1, unless you're a fan of Fire Emblem or Star Fox or any of the games that I've mentioned before that are, you know, uh Switch 2, like you're not gonna buy a Switch 2 for Bravely Default or Hitman or Rhydro or Dragon Quest, because those are all in PlayStation, and I think some are on Xbox, right? And and on PC. And you're definitely not gonna buy a Switch 2 for Mario uh Super Mario Bros. Wonder or Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, because I think that's on the original Switch, right? But I think Fire Emblem is a good system seller, like I think Fire Emblem would be a good excuse to get a Switch. Star Fox, unfortunately, as much as I love it, I don't think it's a good excuse to get a Switch 2, right? So if you don't already have a Switch 1 and you don't care about any of these games, there's no reason to get one. If you're going to buy a Switch and it's your first Switch ever, and that this is gonna be your video game console or you're in into video game consoles, buy a Switch 2. I it it runs the original Switch game so much better. Um, they're working on getting every single game on the catalog ported over, even the shitty hentai games, so that they all run on the Switch 2, which I think it's awesome. Most of the first party Nintendo games already run perfect, they're they look better. Even the Pokemon games, the Scarlet and Violet, uh even RCS, they run a whole lot better on Switch 2. It is a great place to start with the Switch. Is it worth the upgrade so far? I don't think so. Now the new Metroid was announced. Uh, that's probably gonna be just a Switch 2 game. I think that's gonna be a good reason to get a Switch 2. Other than that, I don't I I don't see why you would as much as I love it, uh, but I love it because I have access to everything else, plus the Nintendo GameCube thing, which I think is really fucking cool. I bought the the GameCube wireless controller for the Nintendo Switch. Uh, and uh I've been playing the GameCube games they have on. Like I said, I beat Ouija's Mansion on it, played Fantastic. I've been playing Star Fox Adventures, I've been playing Soul Calibur 2. Holy fuck, Soul Calibur 2 is so good. I didn't know that this game was so good. I had it when it came out on the play on the GameCube. I played it with all of my friends growing up on the GameCube and replaying it now. I had no idea that this game was so good. This game is fantastic and it's on there. It's part of the the the Nintendo Switch Online, so 20 bucks for a full year gets you access to it. It's crazy. I think that's good value. I I don't think the rest of the console is worth the money. I think the console itself is actually pretty fragile. Uh somehow I fucking cracked the screen on like something must have hit the screen or touched it or whatever, and just there's like a little like hairline fracture on it, and it's driving me crazy. Like I keep looking at my uh video game parts supplier to see if they ever get the screens and for the Nintendo Switch 2, but I don't think they will for a long time, so I can swap it out. And um Caredon's boss's kid has a Switch 2. His screen is completely fucking shattered. Um he's also like a seven-year-old kid, so you know, they're not very careful. Um, but also there's been these horror stories of somebody bought it online, and when they went to the store, they had stapled the receipt onto the box, and it went straight into their fucking screen. So, you know, it's wild that it's so fragile, and I am insanely careful with my stuff. Um, how did it happen? I have no fucking idea. Am I upset about it? I am, I am. It's it's it's very fucking annoying. Um hopefully a future revision fixes that issue. Um, I know that at first they were all having issues with the batteries because they were they had been ready for months and they had just been sitting in warehouses for some fucking reason. So the batteries were not great, and they you back basically had to power cycle the entire battery, which took a couple of days before you could actually play your fucking console, which is ridiculous. Um, but yeah, at this point, if you have a Switch 1 and there's nothing coming out for Switch 2, there's really no need to upgrade. Um, but if there's shit coming out or there's shit that you're very interested in, upgrade. I definitely would have bought it for Star Fox when it came out. Because again, I'm a Star Fox fiend. And uh but for Legend CA, Hyrule Warriors, no, Hyrule Warriors is incredible. Uh it's probably one of my favorite games this year, but no, that I I wouldn't I wouldn't do it for that. I wouldn't buy it for that. Fortunes Weave, as much as I like it, probably not. So I don't feel like there's anything out there yet. Maybe new Pokemon games, whenever they come out, they might be it. But so far. No, no, not really. And I cannot tell you, I've bought quite a bit of Switch 2 games, and I think I've sold a lot of them. Like I said, Donkey Kong is gone. Um, I have no idea what else I had that I might have gotten rid of. But like right now, I bought this keycard games, and I'm probably never gonna get rid of them because I don't know if at some point Nintendo's gonna be like, oh, this is registered to another console. Brick, and they brick you know, the console that they're being played on or put into, or even worse, it might break brick mine. You know, the like I said at the beginning, it's all sorts of fucked up weird shit going on with video game companies, some gross fuck-ass stuff, and it's not the game's fault, it's not the developer's fault, it's not our fault. It it's the fucking people in charge who are terrible and suck fucking ass. But uh yeah, so that's it. Just wanted to rant, get something out. Hope you guys enjoyed. Uh, if you wanna tell me I'm a shithead or tell me I'm wrong or whatever, just let me know on Discord. Uh, or on Blue Sky. Uh, I don't know my handle on Blue Sky. Let me look it up real quick because I've I have been inputting my handle on Blue Sky in a lot of places and I still don't remember it. My handle is Chris C-A-S-A-N-C. So Chris Cassank.bsky.social. Chris Cassank.bsky.social. And that's Cass as in console sense stuff and ANC. So Cass Hank. It almost sounds like a real name. Um, we're also part of the Super Pod Network. Uh you can get more shows over there at Superpodnetwork.com, I think. Uh let me check real quick because I'm I'm not 100% sure. And so where is it? Oh, yeah, superpodnetwork.com. More shows over there, some really cool stuff. Uh, Bar Silence, 3DO experience, uh, of course, Super Pod Saga, which is back and it's awesome again. Uh, so go check all that out. And uh, hopefully we're back Monday. If not, then definitely next Friday for another episode of a novel console. So uh, oh, before I go, again, if you all have any video games that you want to get rid of, anything you're looking to sell, hit me up. I'm always looking to buy specifically Nintendo stuff, handheld stuff. It's my bread and butter. My customers love handheld stuff. Doesn't matter if it's Nintendo, Sega, uh, PlayStation, whatever, and uh pretty much buying everything. So let me know what you got, and uh, we'll work something out, and uh we'll go from there. So uh that's it. Uh I don't know how to end this, so goodbye, everyone.
