Welcome to the Potter discussion.
hello, my friends. Oh, welcome back to the potty discussion. Discussing Harry Potter. Fantastic beasts in the Wizarding world fandom. I am your host Oscar, and this is episode 124. Who is master Dumbledore. We haven't got a Quizmaster in so long, so I'm so happy to be back with one of these. I don't, I actually don't know when the last was when I was, I was, but with so many things, so many updates, so many exciting things happening in the fandom right now.
I just couldn't not get to a quiz master, but yeah. Uh, leading up into fantastic views, the seekers, the Dumbledore, I thought in honor of that we should do a Quizmaster Dumbledore edition. So this is going to be a great episode. I mean, there's really nothing else. I had guy gotta say, except. About the Instagram guys, guys, guys, last episode, I was saying that, oh yes, yes.
We have 4,500 followers. We doubled that in a week. So now as I'm recording this, uh, the answer McCann house, uh, over 9,000 followers, it has over 9,000 and 10,000 is in the sites. So I am just going to. Be so happy when we finally crossed that 10,000 mark. And if you really want to be part of the first core group of fans of the pod discussion, make sure you follow the Instagram at the Potter discussion.
You had great meme. Amazing updates. You got cliffs and episodes. You got all that good stuff over on the Instagrams and make sure you go check that out at the Potter discussion. No clinic this week is next week, but next week I hope that I can lock in my predictions for fantastic beasts. That is the next week's episode.
So a lot, a lot of good stuff in the works, and I hope you are all excited for the release of the. But today we have got a Quizmaster. So we should just get straight into that. Let's get into the episode, let's kick it straight off with the speed round. I've got three questions and I'll be asking you rapid fire.
You don't have to answer number right when I'm saying them, but if you can that as bonus points at the end of my asking, I will reveal the answers to see if you got them. It's just a warmup. They are pretty easy. There was a difficult one in here. Um, but it was just to get your brain just flowing, to get to warm, warmed up for the episode and really get you prepared for the questions to come.
So here is a speed round. I'm not Paul. I'll answer you. I'll ask you all the questions and then we'll get into a straight from there. So speed round number one, what is double doors, full name number two, where Dumbledore. And number three, what wand did Dumbledore use? So you likely are going to get all these rights, but let's list off the answers just in case his full name.
Of course, Albus, Percival Wolf. Woolrich Brian Dumbledore. So many names. I don't know why I need that many where he grew up with gods or Shiloh, same town as Harry. And number three would one, did he have, of course the elder ones. He didn't have a different one before 1945. When he five. But we, uh, that blond really has never talked about such an important part of the story.
So going off with the other ones here, you likely got all those rights. If you didn't, well, then you got a challenge, but if you did we ever haired for their regular round and we are not stopping, we're getting straight into it with number one. How old was Dumbledore when he died? So we're starting off with a bit more of a difficult one, because I think you can handle it with this one.
I think the key is not any math. It's it's very difficult to kind of get him because he, he died in a sixth book and there's really no correlation between, uh, you know, his age. And when he died, when he went to Hogwarts, all that kind of like, we can't really figure this out. So there there's really no like math, you can just figure it out by, but lucky for you, you have me, if you know the answer to this question, then you'll get it right.
But if you don't and I'm sorry. Well, the answer is around 115. That is pretty old for one person. Now you may have said somewhere around one 50, if you're wondering where that number was floating around, it was the author that said he was around one 50 when he died, but it was later revealed on positive.
The well Potter, no mortgage you got, um, on, on, on the fandom website that he was around, more around 115, not exact, but around 115 is just about when he was killed. So that is question number one. We've got a ton more to go. So let's, let's keep on moving question. Number 12. What is Dumble doors Patronus?
This one I think is like, I like, I haven't seen for all these cause masters one. This is a question that you either get at a second or you never get because the, the animal that will either pop into your mind in an instant, or it will never come because a Patronus has really, you know, the purest form of you, you know, really what, what you see as, as the strength, as a protector, who you put out there as a way to defend your.
And it's different for many people, Dumbledore, um, puts out one, maybe Harry cast, a stack or Monte can order, uh, Ron, a dog. Do you need a horse? There's so many different, of course, a lot of animals. So there are a ton of those, but I will give you a. Dumbledore Patronis is one of the rarest, there are three that are very rare, but is to have, and that I will tell you after we get the answer to this question, but I think Dumbledore's Patronus is really the creature that we see him with.
And we think of him, uh, you know, as kind of being, as being around. So if you really haven't gotten an, I've been dropping so many ins, if you haven't already gotten it. I mean, I mean, I mean, come on. So we might as well just, just reveal the answer already. The answer to the question is a Phoenix, a Pheonix ease at Dumble doors.
Patronis. And like I said before, that is one of the rarest, a dragon, a festival, and a Phoenix are these three most rare, but shortness is a person can have. And I think I. I don't have one of those, but I have a Trinity, they black Swan. Um, I do not have a dragon, a festival or a Phoenix, but Dumbledore as a Phoenix, Bob, if you want to say, if you thought of that, it's kind of obvious, but if you didn't, you're now just like, oh, you know, I was just like, like a collective realization.
I'm trying to think Dumbledore is, is really centered around a Phoenix. That's really kind of how we see him. His symbol is Fox. I mean, his, his kind of farewell song after Harris decided to leave Hogwarts is called the foxes lament or like the Phoenix laments and like that. And after Dumbledore dies and we all know if Fox is Dumbledore, Phoenix, he stays in his office.
And that's, that's really what he does. Fox to escape in the fifth book, he sends Fox to Harriet chamber of secrets. There's really so much to do with Phoenix is in relation to Dumbledore that I think it makes so much sense that it would be his Patronus out of Phoenix. Would it be known as a Patronus because it really makes a lot of sense when you really think about just how many Phoenix hustings there are in Dumbledore's life, but let's move right along into question number.
This one is more of a, if you listen to the whole episode, I'm, I'm testing you for your honesty. Number three, what is the quote of Dumbledore? Is that I say at the very end of the show, this one, this one, he got us. Not only there. I mean, you can, you can skate all the way now. I get it. Okay. But if you've heard of the end of the episode, as I know, some of you have, you will know this quote is a very famous Dumbledore quote.
I wish the devil took his master. And I mean, it is, it is a good one. That's why I picked it. So this quote, I think is said in the prisoner of as command. And I remember I I'll give you a hint. The scene is when DelDOT was giving a speech, uh, talking about the year at Haagen. And the whole trick is he waves his hand at a candle, goes out, but then you wave his hand again and it goes back the flame reappears.
So if you can kind of visualize that, see, and kind of play it back and your ad press play on your TV, you and you're ready in your mental DV. Um, you just might be able to pick the answer out of your head. And if you haven't, if you just know the answer, well, they go, so the answer to the question is happiness can be found even in the darkest of times.
If one only remember to turn on the light, just have those, not over this as it's not over, don't worry. Don't worry is, is, uh, still, uh, we're we're still going with that as the cohost of Dumbledore. So much. Of course there are so many, I can't think of other ones. Oh, uh, another one of my favorites is you must always make the choice between what is right.
And what is easy. That one, I also find I've really relatable. Something that you really encounter. And, oh my gosh. I saw this one just the other day. I know it. Another one that was about, it is not like the action. Like it's, it's, it's something that like something doesn't make a person it's like the it's not their words, their actions, or like, it's, it's some like that, another good one, but there are just so many of them with their goals.
And if you look, you know, if you type into Google, you know, or, you know, like Dumbledore. It comes up. I mean, that's like one of the first ones there's just so many that are like amazing. I mean, Dumbledore is really the quilt character and every good book. Yes. I have a quote character. I mean, like there's, there's really a person that has to be, you know, the old wizard and the old person who just has a cane or as I like old timey, you know, Sits in the shadows and helps as have a mentor who gives great wisdom pieces of advice.
Quotes. You have to have one, a, one of those great people in a good series, double doors. And one for this one. Um, another one that came to mind was Gandalf, of course, a Yoda in star wars. I mean, you really, you really got to have a good advice person because without it, I mean, how could the character be confused?
How could a plot my move forward really? Without some good confusing old man jargon. Got it. You gotta have some, some, some good stuff in there. Self Dumbledore is a character for that and Harry Potter series. And it really works out because they w M again, have cruise questions like this that are asking you about as quotes.
So amazing. Great for his, uh, great for his quotes. Great. For. And that is the end of this rant. Okay. Moving on. We went to ride along to question number four. This is a difficult one. What flavor? Jelly bean did he eat in books? One. So this is referring to when I actually, I'm not going to give you context and this is going to be your, a little mini challenge question, but the only thing I will clarify is it was a Bertie bot, every flavored bean box that he ate from, and he received a very interesting flavor.
Uh, that is a question I will not give you anything. Because I know if you were a true Harry Potter fan, if you understand everything about it, you will know this question and you have to think in your brain to think of the answer. This question, I think is one of those that's like, uh, like passing by. You could, you could hear it and then never think of it again, you know, just kind of flitting, whatever.
Um, and it's these kinds of questions that I love because you have to really pay attention to what you're saying. Like really, really understand kind of what, what the whole thing is about what the whole quote is, uh, which is something that I really love for, for this kind of thing. But this question, I think, relates to kind of Dumbledore as a character because it's like the way he says he goes.
The flavor, you know, uh, so this kind of thing I think is really tracks with who Dumbledore is honestly, as a person, you know, really relating to who he was as a child, too. Um, he says, you know, I, wasn't a fortunate to get to come across, uh, uh, a really bad flavor. So he, I don't know, like he, he does a very relatable, you know, kind of like eat something, oh, laugh at me.
You know, he, he knows how to be relatable. He knows how to be likable. You know how to be a person, you know how to add a sink down to a personable level to be with people like Harry. But this I think is, is the kind of thing. It's a very, you know, you can't look it up cause there's no, there's no answer. Um, that, you know, it's just like obvious, obviously there, you know, but whatever, if you've read or watched the first book slash movie regionally, you probably know this better.
Cause I think it's one of those scenes you can kind of hear. I mean, if I show you a picture and then I showed you kind of the line that goes with it, you can hear the line. When I'm like, just think of that scene when her mind, he says, when doll and we go up, you can hear it, stop, stop, stop. You're doing it all wrong.
You're going to poke someone's eye out. So it's those kinds of things that are just so perfect. You cannot unhear them. It's like that Laurel Yanny thing, uh, like that was like all the rage. Um, where you either heard one thing or another and you couldn't unhear it. Like once you read it, you couldn't unhear it.
It's, it's, it's the kind of thing for this, like, like with guiding the video. So with the, all, all those different scenes that are just so you understand them so well, and this is one of those, this, what kind of Dale jelly beans they eat in the first book. I think that is definitely one of those lines.
Yeah. Here when I say it. So when I do say you should be able to hear it, the flavor that tumbled or eight. Ear wax. He says, oh, I think he'll be safe with a good tophi pops in his mouth. Choose for, but then goes a less ear wax. You can hear it. I know you can. I know you can see that seed in your head. Um, so that is the answer ear wax, and, oh my gosh.
If I ever came across an ear wax flavored jelly bean, I would just, I would Sue the jelly bean company for mental trauma promotionally. How are they even made? How would you make an ear when. I'm not even, I'm not even gonna go there. Oh my gosh. They have like a liver fleet. All right. I'm going to stop. I'm going to stop now.
So many things make no sense. And it was a new normal, but then some things like this seem to make no sense and then just make a disgusting amount of sense, like how, okay. I'm not even, I'm not even going to go then I'm not going to go there. Not at 'em, but there are some good ones. I know that they, they, um, uh, that were in there and then they're like coffee.
Um, there, there was a kind of like trickle tar. There were some other ones, um, pumpkin juice. It's really a, really a gamble when you have a birdie box, every flavored bean, of course there's grass, which isn't kind of disgusting, but I know. Can you get, I'm sure there's, uh, some kind of like actual broody bot, every flavor that you can buy.
I'm sure it's like an online store somewhere. And now the official running world, whenever I'm sure there is something that you can buy and I could swear I've eaten a birdie about every favorite bean and it was. Flavored and I hated it and I never went again. So that's my life story. I hope you enjoyed it.
Uh, but, uh, let's move on to the next question, which just happens to be question number five. What house was Dumbledore in? This is an easy one. The great Dumbledore of course, was in black. The blank house of, I think this one. Oh my gosh. I was just trying to think of another scene where you could, you could hear them saying it.
And this actually relates to the question where her mind, he says, I want to be in blank. They say Dumbledore himself. Wasn't in it. That's another thing that you can hear. I can guarantee it. And I mean, I just, I basically gave away the question. We might as well move on as well, obviously. Dumbledore wasn't Griffin note.
I mean all the good wizards, the good and evil, the evils are literate and bled and the good people are in. How about Raven claw? Griffin Griffendor with Griffin doors leading the charge as the leaders of the pack and the lions. So you can kind of imagine how that's not great for this other range, because of course we always think that all the stuff there was already full, but Ron said, um, he might've been used for, well, he is very wrong on this, but he says there wasn't.
Oh, no, it wasn't wrong. It was Hagrid Hagrid. I I'm getting abused. I don't think you think it was Haggard. Maybe it was wrong, but someone said Haggard. Sasha. Ron said that there wasn't a wizard that didn't go bad. Who wasn't in Slitherin now. I don't think that's true because I'm going to go on a mini tirade here because I think the way the Wizarding world works, uh, both sides were kind of struggling against the same idea of how pure blood wizards were really dying out.
And there was no way that they could have survived or they didn't marry with. That kept wizards going and yes, they didn't have to marry moguls. That's not a bad thing at all, but of course, some people saw it as something that was like, blessed. There are two, there are other, there, they're not us. We have a good, like, scary other people.
So naturally where that fear came from and then families, you know, it, it kind of the same thing. Some joined Voldemort, some help the ministry with Dumbledore, the earth, the Phoenix. It was really a sharp divide between, you know, one or the other. I think the main way. I mean like the reason also the ones are considered bad slaves on evil house, not at all, but it's them kind of being convinced that they are evil themselves.
Right. Someone hearing about how all their ins are bad, you know, just, just. You're 11 years old. You're going to Hogwarts. You are so excited. You don't really know much about the world and then you get sorted to slurry and you're so excited. You meet your new friends and there's some nice to you. Then you see the other Griffin doors and Raven closet Huff was giving you dirty, looks another, another Slitherin added to the pile.
They monitor behind their hands. They, you see the boy with the scar on his head, look confused as he puts on the hat. He thinks not Southern. And it gets put in Griffin, your new thing. Why can't I be in Griffin north? And I think Griffith Slitherin is bad. Am I bad? Am I just that bad? And that feeling it's pushed down deeper, deeper as the years go and on.
And eventually they convinced themselves that yes, they are that evil. They are evil, tired that they have convinced themselves to be in the world. So was show them. That, that is kind of how I imagine it going slither winds are getting convinced that they are evil. Not because they are, I would just because they are shown that that is the way that, that is the Dow.
That is the way. And I think that also plays into how Voldemort wasn't in and then it was kind of, you know, guilt by association. Oh, you're going to sell them. And so you also must be evil. Great. And problem solved easily. Oh, cause I'm not another one, obviously. And it was the people who weren't in Southern that this side of they are able, I think that's another part that's kind of like, you know, we didn't talk about that, but it was just a Voldemort at his death theaters that really gave slowly run a bad name.
And then after that families tend to be in similar houses. Of course there are people like out people like serious, uh, who was in Gryffendor even though his entire father was in slitter and they only make the difference while people like, though we easily. Single member of the Weasley fan wasn't Gryffendor Molly, Arthur, bell jelly.
Bursey all those people were in Griffin. And it's the same with people like the mouse voice Narcissa Lucius Andrei go. We're all in Southern also Bellatrix Belczyk was also, I mean, it's pretty obvious, but a bunch of awesome children. You're kind of seeing my point and the, the, the air is kind of the person who wants to take on the responsibility of.
Hated because, I mean, the time that we see the Harry Potter story in is still the time when the children of the initial group of death heaters are at Hogwarts, the original death theaters are, you know, still not bad, great people, and that we can pretty much assume. And there are those kinds of people in Gryffendor.
There are those kinds of people in Raven claw, and there are those kinds of people in Hufflepuff. It was just that Tom riddle didn't go into any of those houses. He was stored it into Slitherin. This is kind of like my master theory of why slim Aarons are perceived to be evil. Voldemort was in Slitherin now, so that it was not a bad house.
By that point, it just became the bad house, but he attracted the likes of people who would be gum, deaf ears, and the Avery dollar Hoff. There was, I dunno, and everyone else, but there's all those kinds of people were with him in Southern because he was in Southern because they weren't Southern because they just so happened to meet and to be friends.
And then to go off together in the world, that's where it came from. And then the, when those people grow up, when those people have. I remember when I said, how's this run with families. So that death theaters children then went into Slitherin and then it became this whole cycle of slither ins are bad. Oh.
And then, oh, children, their children are the same, so their children are bad. And then the slithers became like, when going, well, maybe we are, maybe we are, maybe we are like trying to convince themselves that they are. Not that they actually are. So that is my master theory. I should call it something, trademark it before anyone else steals it.
But you heard it here first. That is why also the ruins are perceived to be evil. Is this Quizmaster episode? Yes. Okay. I am sorry for those who want to hear, hear quiz questions. Okay. Let's let's let's get out of this tirade question. Number six, who did Dumbledore make a blow? Packed with, this is another question that's just a write off at the top of that.
We all know he has a blood pact and we all know it was destroyed. Question mark. I don't know that is a, that's the habit for next week's episode because the blood pack is kind of the basis of all the, you know, the, the, the trouble for Dumbledore, because Dumbledore and cannot move. Brenda volt. This is a very shady area of magic because we only know that it prevents two people from dueling.
We don't know if that is physically acting against each other. And we even see that when in the trailers and the. That when Dumbledore was even thinking about moving against vault, the blood hack was like tightening around his hand and really hurting him. So there is so much just to be unpacked with the blood pack.
I think there was even, there's no way to really tell exactly how it works. I hope. Actually I think in next week's episode is going to be all about the blood pack and my final predictions. But I think the blood pack has something to do with, you know, kind of like it's, it's, it's more of a symbol than natural talents win, and that's why the blood pack doesn't work.
Uh, you know, it's, it's a, it's a whole, I mean, I'm not going to get into, I'm gonna get to the next episode, but there's just all whole kind of severe of no one knows what it does. Like Heidi make a horcrux while you kill. I think, you know, and with a blood pack, do you cut your hand? I think like, I think you, you see what I'm trying to say here, we know is that Dumbledore can move against Renovo and Dumble.
There also is a blood pack. He has stated that the blood pack is what stops him from doing so that much. But in the trailers, we also see them dueling it out of the future. Is that the past? Is that blood? I mean, the blood pack is broken. It's just the beginning of the end. I will not say that again because I'm talking about the beginning of the end in the next episode buts, but there's so much, I just want to give a mini trailer kind of just word vomit.
Um, but the answer to the question who did download their, make the. Blood with I D I, I said the answer already, grim vault gave human blood pack liquor to evolve as they were kids, they cut their hands and then acted. They were like
in the memory. Um, that was, that was, that was kind of funny. And then we were Rivera said for some reason. Okay. I don't know why, but when Dumbledore looked in the mirror of air said in the crimes of Grindelwald, he saw that making the blood bags. I don't know why he was. It's not a theory I'm making, I'm gonna, you know, I'm going to make the prediction that Dumbledore wants the blood packs to still be made.
Cause he doesn't want to fight her in default, but there he's going to have to, it was going to be a whole, um, emotional stress situation. But that is the answer to the question. Uh, Pair of symbols that Grinell vault is who Dumbledore mate, the blood pact with. And the final question of the day number seven, what spell did Dumbledore say was activated when Harry and Voldemort.
In book four, this is one of those questions. Again, the, I mean, I got to have at least one of them. I mean, at least do you get it or you don't, it's what the chapter is called. Then we'll normally says that a couple times, but it is continually kind of talked about, and that's the start of Harry's kind of confusion with vulnerable.
When they had their duel in the graveyard, in the fourth book, that's what I'm talking about here. That was really the first time Harry dueled Baltimore. I mean, it's the first time he solved more than the flesh, really? Like, you know what I mean? Like when he saw volt, the Voldemort that he would fight, he saw Waldemar and when he killed his pallet and it kills parents of black, all type, whatever, whatever, whatever.
But this. Is really where he sees voles and more fully in his own body. He can account Harry can comprehend that it is Voldemort. And that's just really the first time that we understand that Harry understands that it is Voldemort. Now this is the smell that is activated. It's kind of muddled down and the chapter is called the spell.
It is what happens out of this spell. That is what the whole story is focused on and think that's what makes the challenge, this, this question, a little difficult, if you, can you think of this spell, but you think of what it does, not what it is, which I think is a difficult part of just in general, what this question is asking.
So if you can conjure the question in your mind, if you can, when a girl diem Livio said from your grades trash can of. Um, that came out wrong and that came out wrong. What I meant was there was so much stuff in your brain. You have to get it up. I'm gonna stop talking now. Um, but yes, that is a question.
And might as well just say the answer, the answer is priori in Ken Tottenham. So this spell is when the two twin cores are, you know, put against each other when they are pitted against. The whole golden sphere, they're lifted up all of the hillside there, you know, the whole spell, then the spells of Voldemort's wand are kind of regurgitated in reverse order.
And the ghosts come out. It's like a, it's a whole complicated Dumbledore should figure it out situation that we won't get into, but Furion can talk to him is the answer to this question and just like that we are at the VA. And of this episode had a good episode and have to edit it. I'm an uploaded, all that good stuff.
Got to get straight to it. But no, I did not forget the challenge question. So this John's question, I will not give the answer to, I'm going to give you context. I'm not saying anything else. Say the question now we'll give you the answer next week, so make sure you will listen very close. At him. Oh, the John's question is when did Dumble doors start at Hogwarts folks?
I did not say it would be easy and it is now. I need a year. I need to season I, if you can, if you can muster it, I just need all that good stuff. Or this challenge question to be valid and send me your answers. I would love to hear what you have to say. I would definitely be taking into account that you answer the question and maybe, Hey, maybe you've written your name off.
