Welcome to the Potter discussion.

welcome back to the Potter discussion discussing Harry Potter, fantastic beasts and the Wizarding world fandom. I am your host Oscar, and this is episode 100 and. The reef we've entered the land of two threes. It is magical. It is amazing. Today. Today, today we are going over Tina, and now we can be we're out of the overview there though.

The reviews of van Tasic beach and this year for Dumbledore, I want to get into the specifics because they are all a lot of specifics. And Tina is the one that I want. Thinking about the most, because there's a lot of controversy, whether she would even be in the movie, whether it was just her picture and its case, whether Katherine Waterston was like a banning fantastic beast, like there was so much content.

Whether Gina Goldstein would be in the CSUs Dumbledore. And she was spoiler alert. If you've not seen the film, go watch it to other, I think it's out of theaters pretty much by now, but it is now out on HBL. So if want to go check out HBO, I've watched it again. It has been. A very, very fun time. And I'm definitely happy that, uh, I, I managed to catch it, but now we now in all the, all the rewashes and all the stuff like that, I have been compiling some more thoughts that I had been having about Tina.

And that is exactly what did this episode is going to be about. We're going to talk about her overall placement in the story so far, what role she plays with Newt and her sister and all that kind of stuff. And really where I would have liked to see in her. What Warner brothers was thinking. So got a lot of topics today.

Make sure you stick around. But before we get into this episode, I will remind you that I'm at the point of discussion on Instagram and Tik TOK. And initially just came out. So you barely missed it, but not to fear because whenever you were listening to this, the culinary is just around the corner. Makes you go sign up for that in the show notes below. All right, let's get into today's. So the first thing I want to kick this episode off with is just a pretty basic overview of Tina's part in the story so far, because it's an important one and it is a strange one.

I will get more into that later, but over that over the three films that we've had, Gina has gone through a lot. It changed. He's changed a lot too, as obviously going through a lot of, uh, pretty, pretty traumatic things. But I think the main difference in her character is between the first and the second films.

And that's because she started out as this like chipper, you know? Oh, Hey, Mr. Commander. Yeah, let's go catch those beasts. I, I might not like it because I have a duty to the, to the country, but I still want to do it. You know, she is very, you know, kind of happy and. Happier. I just say she's not, you know, all in the chipmunks there, but she's still very, very much into life.

He enjoys spending time with new and run around the city and stuff. But then in the crimes of Grunewald, she turns into this leg long trench coat, kind of like, like, like Solen, heli, Snape, haircut version. Who's not very happy. And I noticed that change because not only was it a huge damper on the story, but.

Between Newt and Tina like them then personally, um, they, they couldn't really talk. And I think the, the main reason for that for, for Virginia change is in the, the magazine article that she read, where the writers made a mistake saying that Newt and Lita were getting married, not Theseus and Lita. So then Tina was like, oh, well, forget him.

And just completely moved on to not give a care for Newt at all in the slightest. And she moved on and then they, when they met up, she was like, oh, hello, Mr. , you know, between Kalench teeth. So she definitely was, she was not a fan of nude when she read the article. But after that, after Newton made the correction, I think she kind of warmed up again.

But after how long it took for her to kind of transition into Snape teen, I think she couldn't just come out of it. So she was a bit of a numb, I'm going to say wet blanket in this, in this film, in the consequent of walls, but. Move on to the CXO Dumbledore. We have no idea what she is. And this is really where this, the, the idea for this episode came because I was obviously watching the film for the first time in the theaters.

And I was the very last scene and they were, uh, Jacob and Queenie were getting married in the bakery and everyone was kind of going in there. They're arriving. And then Newt's outside waiting for T. And then Deanna shows up and it's like, oh wow, there she is. And then she's, she's she's smiling again.

She's happy. I mean, great, good for Tina. But that was very confusing because I feel like that was almost the worst way for one our brothers to incorporate Tina, because they didn't have anything exciting. There's no reveal and they just were leaning on a very eventful. Uh, very event driven story, which I think was not the play here, uh, because we have learned so much about these characters and really care about them.

Now that they're going on about how Grinnell, if we're going to just run the world. So it was that, that they were trying to stop them. That was the main focus. The Newton teen drama was gone because Newton DNO. I don't know, they were still thinking you at each other and knew it was worrying that Tina wouldn't show up and all that kind of stuff.

That wasn't enough tension for us to be like, oh my gosh, I hope they get it back together. And queen and Jacob are like all delusional because they got married. So that's pretty much how the picture Dumbledore and Grinnell mold I think was really the relationship and the sort of stumbled over that carried the character driven part of the plot, because that was the long relationship that we haven't heard a lot about.

But we still know exists. Um, because obviously they were in a romantic relationship as kids and that didn't really break. They started feeling for each other up until the very last scene in the  a stupid Dumbledore. The last time we see Grinnell bald, he said, who will love you now, Dumbledore? And kind of realized that the blood pack was broken.

The relationship has gone, you know, all that kinda. But that was a relationship that I was really following that I was really hoping would, uh, either, you know, kind of die like it did or have something else happen. So that was really what I was thinking was going to be the main, exciting thing, uh, Nunes, newts, and Tina's relationship.

I mean, They are the relationship nude stuff. I would assume the main character, but alas. Nope. It was Dumbledore angry. Anawalt I'm not disappointed by any means because that was a very, very good relationship and I'm well not healthy, but it was a very interesting relationship to see kind of where it went, how they reacted, how, how the really built the whole course of the story was impacted by the decisions they made based on their prior relations with each other, which I think is a very clever way of incorporating.

Proper relationship, but also I have relationships not much, but also what Dumbledore and Grunewald are willing to do, not like say for the blood pact, they weren't really like raring to destroy it. Obviously Dumbledore would prefer it's gone and grin of all the wood. Not because he knows Grinnell knows that Dumbledore could likely beat him in a duel, but it's the elder one that now Grunewald is kind of leaning on to be his wand.

That is a kind of. The thing that keeps him alive, that keeps him there. Obviously she has it in this film because he's still at very young. Actually we saw that flash book in the gosh, what was it? I think it was in the, um, half-blood prince that we saw Harry, uh, Dwight, like when, into the memory and into rigor.

Oh no, no, it wasn't. I know it was definitely how it was. Uh, he, he was kind of going through Voldemort's mind and saw that Grunewald stole the elder wand from Gourevitch and. Yeah. And then he he's had it ever since. So, uh, Greenwald has the older one and then Dumbledore is like going after him because they, he wants the older one too.

And then like, that was like tension that was drawn. That was like majesty. That was everything that I was looking for in Newton Tiana's relationship. I was looking for their relationship to be repaired for Newton Tina, to, to have this big kind of reconciliation for them to get back together, to talk again, to be with each other.

That never happened. And I haven't had the end and some could argue it, it didn't happen. They met, they were smiling and everything, and they touched too. I mean, that's pretty, it's pretty on the edge. Um, so that, that was really all the, all the relationship we got and I'm not mad does that is how she was incorporated.

I am not my, that, that is how she's incorporated. I am mad. That's when Tina was brought into the film, because if it was like the very big. Then that was even better. But what I was thinking, like the main thing actually all get into this a bit later, but I like, honestly, they should just hire me at this point because of Warner brothers.

I mean, because I came up with the absolute best way for Tina to come into this. That was so much better than what you did, so that's going to come later, but that is, that is something that I was really thinking that a lot. Uh, so that's kind of an overview of her story. She helped Newt. Then she became Snape and then she became nothing.

And then Tina again, so pretty much her entire character, but. Now I want to go onto something similar, but a little bit different. And that is what role does Tina play in the story? We talked about kind of where she fits in and how she impacts the story. But now I really want to talk about. What does she does?

We talked about her parts, but now it is time for her role, which sounds very similar, but it is not, I think there are, there are some different, I find her points to really what she does as her role in the story that how she fits into the characters, because there are a lot of characters when Tina is healing.

Herself. So that's the best explanation I can, I can come up with with this episode, but that is, that is what we were really kind of going over in this little talking point, which is really what is her role throughout the series? Well, let's start at movie one at the first. Really? What is she doing? Well, I think there is really no one word for, and I don't know that the technical words for the people of the story foil is about as advanced as I can go.

Um, but this is really kind of her. I, I think this is her prime. This is our peak. This is where T and I. Feeling the best. This is where she's kind of being plunged into the world of magic and mystery. And Greenwald is not yet this like huge threat. Obviously he is still, um, there, and he is still very, very much a danger to the wisdom.

But he has not become the force that he, he later will. Um, so I think everything is not thrown into chaos and it would have been if the magical word was exposed. But luckily Tina sent an antenna, uh, knew to send Frank up with V uh, sweeping evil venom. And everyone's a blue obliviated magically. That is kind of where I think Tina was just at the highest.

Emotionally, I dare say spiritually, uh, kind of just even like physically her hair was the best stage. I'm going to say that. So, so everything was kind of right at the top of the hill, but unfortunately things have to roll down. Moving to second film. It goes wrong too. And Tina reads the article. She goes, oh, so the man that I think I want to be in a relationship with, actually he's getting married.

Good for him. I'm going to abandon him. I don't care anymore. Time to cut my hair like Snape and just abandoned all prospect of. So she throws herself into work. She finds use of comma. She gets captured by him and she has the snake hair. And then that whole thing happens and she is not doing great. She has the trench coat.

Everything is just going pretty crappily. I'll say there's not much here. You know, she's, I think she just has nothing going on in your life at that point. Like everything that she thought she wanted to do was kind of mitigated and gone a lot of that stuff like, like nutrition. He's now getting married to lead us alive and bother the ministry.

She was reinstated as an oral war, but now she has to do all this work. You know, all this stuff that she thought was going to be the best thing in her life. It turned out not really to be, which is why she kind of had that spiral into Snape them, and really just became kind of a less excited person.

Everything in general, which I think is why w when we went into the secrets of Dumbledore, we really were not expecting her to come in being all happy again, because yes, I think she cleared everything up with, with a new, she realized that I knew it wasn't getting married and all that kind of stuff. I think then is when we really saw her kind of returned to her film one glory.

But like I said before at the very end. We don't know what's going on with her. We don't know what's happening. All we know is she's the head of the American or office. That's great. That's great. Fantastic. There's nothing here. Like she's, she's busy for work. That is the excuse that the Warner brothers came up with and why, why she wasn't there.

She's busy with work, so, oops, sorry. Can't defend the world right now. I have a little raw, a lot amount of papers on my desk. Sorry. Like, no, that's, that's a dare. I say a very stupid way of, of going about it. So I think her being busy for work is not a good excuse. I should say, not a good enough excuse to keep her from fighting Grunewald with Newt, with Theseus, with lolly, with Dumbledore, with everyone, with all the people she used to be.

It's all gone. It's all just left. And now she is just going, okay, I'm gonna, you know, do my paperwork. It just it's too sudden. It's too abrupt. It's too cut off. It's just like nothing there. The relationship is basically gone and all we get is this one scene where they're smiling at each other. And then he goes, oh Tina.

And then it's like, and then the team is like, oh, hi. And then they almost kiss or they don't. And they walk inside and that's that. So. All we get. It is so, so annoying. I mean, don't get anything else. And like I said before, I really, I want to explain to you my, my idea or how, how they could have included her, uh, Tina already.

And if you've listened to a past, I was at, I think you already heard it, but if you have not, this is going to be a very good explanation. Um, but I think we have a couple more things to get at first, but I am definitely raring to, to get at this, this explanation. So let's move on so we can get. To how I think Tina should, I've been incorporated a lot better.

So the final thing I wanted to go over before we talk about Tina's character as a whole and how my whole master plan of how they could have made a better, I want to talk about Tina's placement in the story. We touched a little bit on this beforehand, but now I want to. Um, make a new plan for a, I was going to say a diet plan.

It's this is, this is kind of how I see this. Uh, they made a mistake, Warner brothers, and now you're trying to fix it. We were going back. We are we working, we are fixing the recipes. We're doing all this stuff to make Tina's character, so much butter. Um, but this, this is, this is the first step, a first step of a two-step plan.

I'll be at short but effective. So the Dina's plates match. That's the first thing I want to get into here. And that is. Kind of why I am, uh, starting off with this. So is a policeman in the secrets of Dumbledore overall grade to start out with I'm going C minus somebody somewhat disagree, somewhat agree.

So might give it worse. Some I get it better, but what I was really thinking here is it is a good way to put in. Um, they, they, you know, it was a good introduction. Tina came up, it was a music was great. The setting was just writing in the winter. It was snowing. He was beautiful. It was great. Um, Tina walked up and nude standing there and they're like, all great.

That was fine. The way they did it was fine. That is okay. That is fine. That is great. But like I said before, it is when Warner brothers put into. It was so bad, so bad. The very end, maybe two lines. No, a scenes filmed from Katherine Waterston. So little screen time for Tina. One of the main characters, one of the core four is just disregarded and.

You know this like, like three second clip, just at the very end. I mean, it was painful really, really painful to see they put it in a, in, in this little short little snippet where Nina, Tina and tuna. I just said Nina and toot. Okay. That is not going to be, I'm not going to clip that at all. Newt and Tina knew denti and I meet and it's great.

And it's fantastic. And it's at the very end of the story with nothing else, uh, at all. I mean, like literally nothing. We don't even see them at the wedding. And that's, that's how, how little time we get here. So the, you, you can see that I really not happy with the way Tina, uh, was, was, was put in and really when, when they decided to, to, uh, drop her character.

So how can we make it better? That's the question that I want to, uh, answer and, uh, puts a practical application on how can we make this better? When can we, when should we put this? What's the, what's the true to the scene. Well, I think now we're really getting into this, this whole master plan of mine. So I think I'm going to tell you because when we see her and how we see her is a very similar, uh, it was really a strain of thought here.

Now I will say that it is later than I would, if it was like a blank slate. You know, no story, no nothing. And it was put Tina somewhere. I would have definitely put her a lot earlier, but this opportunity is just so good. And it's like, we just can't pass it up and is also a big deal. There is a, a, I should say a big duel after this.

That was a perfect place for her to, to have her character introduce. Which is then perfect for them to go back together to build their relationship Newton, to, you know, to, to build a relationship up again and all that stuff they'll place I'm thinking of is Butan. So the kingdom of Butan is when the, the choosing of the next leader of that was in a world.

These two prima mug rump is, and we have Santos, uh, Greenwald we have, and, um, the person from Asia who I. Kent for the life may remember the name of I watched it, but I can't. So Santos, Anton Vogel, who we know, obviously Gretta, Wald, and then the other representative. And, uh, what, what we are really seeing here is the, like I'm saying the choosing of the next, uh, one monk bump of.

And Greenville vault has a rigged the election. The way they do it is they bring a chilling up and the chill and bows to the person who has the appearance of heart, but Grunewald, secretly murdered at the children and brought it back to life, making it his own, his, his, his very own or Supreme Mughal one, but choosing machine.

So when it goes up, it, it goes up to Greenwald, obviously, ABAs or Greenwald. Oh no, it's going to wild. Why is the widest? The chilling thing is. But the new it's like, oh, hold on. Like, wait, wait, wait, wait a second. And he has the, the chiller. I, I, I, my gosh, I watched it like the film, like a couple of couple of days ago, but I think that is pretty much how it goes, but Grinnell has the rig chillin, and then the real Chelan is brought up.

That's pretty much how it went now. What I think. Oh, no, I remember. New actually does not here. He has the fake case and it kind of dissolves when the, uh, when Carnival's person takes it. But then Bunty comes up with the real case. And this is where my master plan comes into effect. So Bundy is dressed in this, uh, elephant.

I think that's that's, uh, from Bhutan, which is why she blends in it's this black outages here wrapped in black cloth with a, a headdress. We don't see your face. We see this person walking up the steps, carrying the case, and we don't know who this person is. If you know where I'm going with this, you will know that this person, I thought a hundred percent should have.

Tina. That is how they should have put her in Dumbledore should have contacted her secretly and God and her with a real case, he should have told Bunton to make the copies, took the real one and went on his fake ones and then gone into Tina said like, we need you, obviously, Tina's not going to say no Dumbledore.

Then dentine goes to Hogwarts right afterwards, go goes through the prayer wheel, into Butan with the real case in her house. To blend in. And she is the one who walks up the steps. She is the one who has the real challenge. And then she is the one who helps Newt and Dumbledore at the very end, um, with Bruno vault, which is why the blood packages are destroyed, which then they can go back together.

They can kind of recoup while Abba fourth and credence are talking the economics of. Um, kind of Tina and Newt's reconciliation, so then they can then become friends and maybe more than that again. So when they're going to the wedding, it's not this awkward, like, oh, Hey, like has, has it, has it gone partner?

Um, Kind of going full force and really opened the door for more new Dina stuff for, for more, um, to staff. So that, that is really what, um, the, the, the whole thing I was thinking of would be so, so much better for, because that that's really where there's kind of like area of suspense is cleared up and not only does it have a very clever way of putting into United fighters.

I think this also is a very good way of tying up loose ends because it explains why Tina isn't in the rest of the film, because Dumbledore didn't want her there because Dumbledore wants to make sure that it was a surprise that Greenwell did not see it. It was just another layer of confusion. He was anti site in the words of a use of comma, and it was Dumbledore his way of putting in someone who has.

Very near and dear to Newt to everyone else. And, uh, kind of a distraction and maybe also settling for Queenie because Queenie is not on grin of old side. So if, if Tina shows up, Korea is going to be like, okay, I'm sorry. Sorry, Brittany. Um, There's so much here that could have been just so much better of Tina or was he was period here, but I I'm not hating on Bunty.

I just think she should have gone in just like new to, just with a case, just walking around, you know, that that's how it should have gone, but it didn't. And we are left with just this sad little flop of it's Bunty. Who's hiding. And not only like, you can't know everything, not even, you knew, you know, that, that, that whole thing.

So. I am disappointed that we had no real Tina, just here it is. Um, but I'm glad that we add some teen, at least a picture of her and all of about 20 seconds. So that is a bit of an area of a letdown, but we should just move on to it to one last thing and close out the app. And I'll just one last thing before we close out this episode, what was Warner brothers thinking?

I think this answer is pretty simple and that is exactly what we were thinking with this and that. Is a problem because the whole point of film in general is to create suspense plot twists. Like a good story is not a straight line. That has to be a quote somewhere. Come on. So, so when, when our mothers was, was thinking of this, I'm out to them going okay, well, well we have to come up with some, some kind of twist, uh, that twist can be, I don't know, uh, Greenwald gets into the election.

And then Tina is kind of out of, out of the picture here. She should just be kind of recovering because she's still so hurt. Her heart is broken from when her and Newt were together. I think that's kinda what they were going with because Tina obviously is, is still, apparently I'm I'm I'm going to say, I'm not going to say, obviously I'm going to say she is a apparently still struggling.

From her and Newt's time together when they kind of broken apart. And then they thought Tia thought that nude was getting married to someone else. And then it was a whole deal. And now they're back together within their not psych. Oops. So much work stressful. Now Tina hates everything. You know, that, that kind of thing is just to confirm.

That chain of events is not something that I think should have been put in. So what one of us was thinking really is a pretty Frank answer. I think what I was thinking that they would just lean on Tina's, um, emotional vulnerability to make this storyline work. I think is a little silly because Tina, at this point should not be emotionally vulnerable.

She made everything up with new to they are okay. They are fine. They are like working together again at the very end of the, of, of the film of, of the crimes criminal. Suddenly at the beginning of this film, they are split apart again and they aren't talking and all that kind of stuff. What is up with that?

I mean, like what is going on? Because I, like, we thought that they were completely fine, that they were doing all this stuff that. You know, great. And they were going to face the world together, but Nope, actually that was just a phase. Now they're back to being totally separate. That isn't, that I just am not happy with.

I think that is also that I, um, would have chosen to put in the film and that just about, does it, that just about wraps everything up and this is not exactly a breakdown, which is I'm not going to call it a breakdown. Because this is more talking about Tina and relation to everyone else, not just Tina.

Um, but I think if I hadn't already done it, then I think a Tina breakdown is definitely going to be something that I want to do. Not, not soon, but it is on the list. So if you're listening this far, you are a, uh, you, you have the insight to know. So thank you.
