In this episode we analyze the new Harry Potter TV show trailer. Enjoy!
Topics/Summary:
· Watch the second trailer here!
· 1:44 This seemed a lot more intense than the first trailer. There were faster cuts, brighter music, and more shots of darker confrontations. The color palette of this trailer also seemed darker.
· 13:00 We got some first looks at professors. McGonagall, Snape, and Dumbledore were all features in this trailer, and they all had lines and dedicated screen time. There were some things that surprised me, and others that didn’t.
· 28:15 The trio had some screen time as well. They’re growing on me overall, but there are some minor parts of their characters that are still giving me some pause. I wonder how different the characters are going to be from book to small screen…
· 32:42 Potter family reunion? We saw two young people running across a bridge together. They were fairly young, and that scene was nestled between Hagrid talking about family and Harry looking into the Mirror of Erised. I mean…what else could you need?

Intro
OscarWelcome to the description. Welcome back to the other discussing discussing the Harry Potter books, the films, TV show, and the wizardable phantoms. I'm your host, Oscar, and this is episode 347. Thank you everybody for joining me today. I am so glad to be back recording with you all. We are taking a bit of a break from our scheduled programming because this past Monday, the second trailer of the Harry Potter TV show was released, and we are going to be analyzing that today. It was a very exciting time, and I must say there are some really interesting parts of this trailer that I think we're gonna have a very good time taking a close look at. It will be the very first link in the show notes. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend you watch it before getting into this because there are some very specific moments we're gonna be discussing in this episode that have to do with that trailer. Now, if you have anything to add to this discussion, of course, I always want to hear from you. Definitely reach out to the potter discussion at gmail.com. That is the potter discussion at gmail.com for any thoughts, any questions, comments, topics, anything at all you want to uh let me know. Again, we are still in the midst of season five of Tea Leaves, our version of the Harry Potter TV show. So definitely reach out with any questions, comments about that, and of course, feedback about today's episode. Now, I'm really excited. There's a few parts to this, there's one scene in particular that we're gonna get into at the end that I find very exciting, but of course the whole thing is still gonna be very exciting to analyze. So without further ado, let's get into today's episode.
This seemed a lot more intense than the first trailer
OscarSo the first thing I noticed that I absolutely want to mention is this seemed a lot more intense than the first trailer, and that stuck out to me almost like a like a sore thumb here. The first trailer we got was much more about the wonder of the wizarding world, and it was kind of like it was our our beginning of this whole journey, and it was introducing us back into the wizarding world. So I understand that it wasn't this huge, you know, blockbuster-like trailer. But this one kinda was, and that was one of the major takeaways I had. The first thing that I noticed was it was uh the music was much more intense, it was much more in your face when we were watching, and I was thinking back to the first trailer of how, yes, of course, there was suspense and there was, you know, intrigue and whatever. It was, you know, it's it's a trailer, of course they're all gonna have that. But what this one had that the other one didn't is that there were much faster cuts, and there was uh in particular, what really made it action-packed was we had we saw things like the troll. And Hermione set a line like anything could be lurking behind any door in this place. So with this trailer, I think they're really trying to set up this idea of Hogwarts as a much more intense, kind of scary place, and I'm appreciative of that. I think the thing that we all have to keep in mind with this whole situation is that Hogwarts is has so many sides, has many sides to it. And with these trailers that keep coming out, we're seeing more and more of the sides. And I think another thing that I noticed, especially after watching it a few times, is that this is basically Hogwarts focus. Like there's no before, there's no after, no, this is all taking place in Hogwarts. Uh we open up, you know, with with Hogwarts, we have the sorting ceremony and and and all these things. And those are the moments that make Hogwarts exactly what it is. You know, it's so intrinsically uh, you know, it's it's such an intrinsic value of the Wizarding World that I think we're beginning to kind of delve into that world. The first trailer had much more of the Privet Drive and you know, Harry at school, and then you know, he got his letter, and then he went off. Like that was kind of the the vibe of that one. It was sending him off, it was beginning the adventure. But now we're here, and this is a that's that's a cool part of this trailer now, is that Harry is there and he is embarking on this adventure. And I thought uh one of my favorite shots was it was towards the end we saw Harry with his wand, and he was kind of disheveled, and he was clearly, you know, in some dark place with a fire, and I mean we're I'm I am led to believe that that is the final you know showdown between Quarrel, Harry, and and Lord Voldemort. So we're getting into these scenes that are really, really important for the first season, but also really important for the rest of the seasons because I'm also thinking about Voldemort, for example. We haven't heard anything to do with the casting around Voldemort. So, really, we could be heading into any situation here. Uh, and of course we're still waiting for that. But at this point, I am not too uh hopeful that we are going to get a Voldemort casting before the season is actually released. But truth be told, that's not a bad thing, honestly. That's really not a bad thing. Because there is just so much uh that a character like Voldemort can bring to the table. So I'm not really worried about the fact that we aren't gonna see that that casting before, but like, you know, in general, we are slowly creeping towards these moments that are very, very important uh for the story. And I think one of the moments that I will we'll we'll probably discuss more in depth later, but one thing that really stood out to me was the very end. The very end of the trailer was uh that famous scene between, you know, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, where Hermione was going through a big book and found the page on the Philosopher's Stone, and then the uh Harry and Ron obviously had no idea what what was going on, and then Hermione says, Oh, honestly, don't you two read uh a classic line. And the reason why that stood out to me, and again, we might get into this a bit later, is that that is a moment that's straight from the books, that's straight from the films, it's classic Harry Potter, it's there's there there's nothing TV show about it, whereas many of the other um moments we saw were very much uh TV show moments, which is which is interesting because we're s already beginning to see these these discrepancies, and I'm very interested to see how that is going to affect the relationships between characters, uh, which that is also something that we will get into a bit later. So that was a big thing that big thing that stood out to me. It was much more intense, and now I'm slowly wondering, is that gonna be like a theme for the rest of the whole thing? Like uh as these trailers keep coming out, I assume we're gonna get maybe one more, maybe two more. I mean, we are gonna definitely get some more teasers as we get closer to Christmas, the release date. But I'm beginning to wonder what the tone of the actual show is gonna be. And I think I'm gonna skip ahead and tell myself that it is probably gonna be a mix of all of them, because that's what every good TV show should be. You know, it's it's it's got it all. I don't want to watch one of these trailers and then have a complete idea of what the TV show is going to be. I think that would be a shame because there's just too much within this one story to really explore everything to do with it in uh one trail. You know, we have like two, like two minutes, two and a half minutes, whatever, to tell the story. Like, that's not really how it works. So I am glad that they are moving you know more in the direction of having multiple trailers, having multiple opportunities for the characters to tell their voices. And that's important, and we've we are seeing that, you know, effectiveness in action because the very first trailer was all about, you know, Harry and the Dursleys and and and Hagrid, but second trailer we didn't see any of those people because we needed more voices. We need to see those characters develop. We saw like half a second of Snape, half a second of uh Dumbledore, but now we are really getting into it. And we had some lines from professors, and we had much more of the trio interacting together. Uh, we have a really, really exciting kind of web of characters evolving that I think is gonna be very intriguing to uh track with these trailers, and of course, as the TV show comes out, we are gonna have something very interesting on our hands to analyze. One other thing that stood out to me kind of as an overall impression of this trailer is that the color palette seems a bit darker, and I don't know if it's just my imagination, and it very well could be the fact that they just chose certain dark scenes, because of course if the vibe of the trailer is more intense, they choose scenes that, for example, take place in more intense places, which tend to be darker. Maybe that's it. But even like the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony was like it wasn't brightly lit. Like I always think of the Great Hall in the films as kind of bright and you know, lively and and and warm, but it didn't rally come across that way, in my opinion, in the uh uh trailer. I'm thinking especially of there was a quick shot of like some um uh uh you know the students talking, and one of them said like, um, you know, your house decides your future, whatever. Like they were they were they're all talking, and we could like I could barely see their faces. Like the the hall was just so dark. I also took notice of the floor, which might be kind of a strange thing to notice, but the floor is uh it is stone, but it's it's I I was looking closer, I couldn't quite make out what it is, but it's not the same pattern as the uh stone, uh like the the big flagstones of the Great Hall in the film and the book. So it's just these these little things that are going to change the vibe of the whole thing. And that's what I am I am I would say nervous, but honestly I'm just excited about it. It's a really hard thing to change something that's so deeply ingrained in the story from the beginning. And the reason why I mentioned this the the floor, for example, is the Great Hall set on Levisden is, you know, uh it's it's very famously a real stone floor. Uh and that was something that Chris Columbus knew he wanted to have, in addition to his practical effect floating candles, which might not have been been the best choice. But that kind of attitude and with with that that kind of approach to making this set is I think one of the things that is going to set the films apart from the TV show. And I keep coming back, I I forgot exactly what the number was, but it was something like 70 million pounds per episode. That is absolutely astounding. Like that is flooring budget. That is absolutely crazy. Like, I I just I just don't know. I just don't know how they're going to spend all that money. I mean, if they have leftover, I'll take some for sure, but something tells me that they're gonna use it all pretty, pretty quick. But it's that kind of idea that this this show is if you think about it, it's on a bigger scale than the films. And I think the films meant more, like it was it was more hard-hitting. But this the show is a better opportunity because it's a new generation, it's a new wave, and still they are cranking up the heat. So I'm left wondering, we have this huge budget, we have this these huge shoes to fill. Is this what we're going to see? Are they gonna fill these shoes with these different kind of vibes? I just don't know. But that is all to say, I wouldn't mind too much. Because the truth is, we've been talking about this for I mean, years at this point, literally years have we been talking about this idea of how can they possibly change the films and make it better? The films are so perfect, you know, and so, you know, made with such care and precision, how could they be possibly any better? That's what I used to think. That's what I used to think. But immediately what I thought of was like, oh well, you know, there's I think it's not very diverse student body. I think that's like the first thing that comes to my mind, like maybe we could see that. And then also I'm thinking of like, well, a lot of things were cut and changed from the films. We already have been discussing that in Tea Leaves. Things like there was no Quidditch World Cup. That seems like kind of a big hole. So things like that. And then you start thinking, well, if those things are missing, maybe there's opportunity to expand upon many other bases that we even haven't even considered. So this and and as these trailers come out, we get kind of a deeper insight, a slightly deeper insight into this whole situation. So as more information gets released and as more trailers and sneak peeks get released, I will be very interested to see what changes, what stays the same, and what details the filmmakers choose to include in these sneak peeks. Because we saw some very specific things that I am absolutely going to discuss in just a moment. So let's move on.
We got some first looks at professors
OscarThis trailer also showed us some of the first looks at professors. I mean, we've had like shots and things here and there, whatever, but this is the first time that we've had actual dialogue and and interactions with and moments with the professors, which I find very exciting. One of the was so we're gonna we're gonna talk about McGonagall, Snape, and Dumbledore in this little section here. The first one I want to talk about is McGonagall, because she's the first one. She says she she opens the whole thing and she's talking about the sorting ceremony, you know, before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. She has her whole moment. One of the things that stood out to me was she seems less tight strung, if that makes sense. And a lot of the McGonagal that that we know in the films at the very least, she is, you know, she she's has her finger on the pulse, you know, she has her feet on the ground, she she she knows what's going on. But I think this McGonagal kind of has that up, you know, turn turned up to a thousand. But here's the thing, I'm worried that that is going to backfire on the uh uh filmmaker. So what do I mean by that? That's that's that's kind of a hard thing to imagine. Her voice is definitely different. I mean, she has a Scottish accent, you know, that's check, check with that one. But here's what I noticed. She her her voice is a bit lower, you know, it's definitely she's not quite as um kind of shrill as she comes across in the uh in in the films, but also how as her voice is in the books. And what I think that's gonna create is a um impression that she is less kind of frantic, which is is strange to say, because McGonagall doesn't really come across as frantic, but it was only when I saw this trailer that when I watched saw her, you know, in action, so to speak, for the first time, that's when I really kind of it it it really occurred to me that she is going to come across as slightly different, and that is going to be a very interesting thing to track as the story goes on. So we're gonna, you know, take a closer look at her and take a closer look at uh what she is is kind of imposing upon her students and how she's interacting with them. And I'm I'm interested to see how that how that differs from from the book. One of the things that stood out to me is she she says she sat Harry down and said, like, you know, you have to work hard, find what sparks your interest, and make solid friendships. You know, she was very strict with him. And I don't remember that. Was that in the book? I don't I don't remember that at all. I mean, I'm sure she told him to, you know, lock in, but whatever it was, it wasn't that. So that's kind of another part of her character that we haven't really seen before. So McGonagall is a good uh is a very good example of a character who is going to be different. And I think one of the big reasons for that is because Maggie Smith absolutely crushed it. I mean, there is just there's no competition in my mind. I mean, Janet McTear, I'm sure, is going to be very talented and know what she's doing and have some good moments here and there. But I I just I don't know. I couldn't comprehend how she could possibly top Maggie Smith's performance. And I definitely know that once we start getting some some real episodes out there, we are going to be comparing uh from TV show to film. So anyway, that is that's that's gonna be a very fun moment for us at at the at the very least. But McGonagall was definitely one of those characters who I saw, and I just wasn't sure. I just wasn't sure about her. Um, but that is all to say that I am still very excited to see how she's gonna come across because yes, she might not be Maggie Smith, but I think she definitely still has a voice in this whole situation. You know, she has perspective and she has uh I like like we saw, she has new lines and new scenes that she's going to make her own. We have eight hours to explore her character and really get to know her. So I think there's gonna be we have we have some opportunities here to really make her character shine, and we've already seen that they are willing, the filmmakers are willing to kind of go out of the bounds of the story to make it happen. So McGonagall is definitely a character to keep an eye on. I think that is going to be a very important theme as the story progresses. Now, Snape. I was so, so excited when Popeye's you do finally got some screen time, you finally got some lines here, and I mean, wow. Just pro-I like I just there is nothing that I would change. I think what I what I love about the the situation that we are in right now is that we were spoiled with Alan Rickman. I mean, he did such a good job, but the uh films were inadvertently setting us up for a really, really good Snape in the TV show. Because Alan Rickman is not the Snape from the books, and that is really important, and I don't know why they they didn't do that. Like looking back, if I was a filmmaker, I would have absolutely cast someone who was the right age. Alan Rickman is not in the right age record. I mean he's he seems to be uh, you know, 30 years older than where he should. And and am I complaining? No, absolutely not. I think he had a fantastic performance, and I am absolutely glad that we saw him. But the reason why I say we are kind of inadvertently getting set up for a really good experience in the TV show is we now have a book accurate Snape. And that is a a luxury that we have not we we didn't even know we we we needed. Snape is, you know, he's in his 30s, because he's the same age as Lily. That's really what I'm trying to get at here. Snape is the same age as Lily, and we just didn't get that in the uh films. And it it just kind of came across strangely, and of course it still worked. Like yes, absolutely it did. It was still uh it it it it still came across, but I just think I am I am very much looking forward to a book accurate Snape. I think that is going to be a really fun time, and I am very much like looking forward to that. And the one I mean he had he had just a few moments. Bob Siddh had just a few moments in here, but I he he he killed it. I mean, really, he he killed it. Uh what was his line? He said, like, um, let's hope you show some talent on the quid, Pitch Potter, because you certainly, you know, have have none in here. It was something like that. And it's funny, the first time I watched it, my first impression was like, okay, he's overdoing it. Like, I was like, okay, there's there's way too much there. You know, he's like, he's he's clear, his voice is clearly dripping with venom, and you know, it's it's all too much. But like the second and especially the third time I watched it, I was like, I mean, that's kind of good. Like it his his performance is slowly growing on me. Because I that honestly was was my first impression was that oh like it seems like he's he's being a little dramatic, like he's kind of overdoing this this this this situation a little bit, but I don't know, you know, this the more the more I watched it, the more I was impressed. He came across really well, and it's funny I I've mentioned that I've been rereading some of the books to kind of fold that into T-Leys and really begin to dig into the text a little bit more. And one of the things that I kind of had I hadn't forgotten, but what what it kind of reminded me reading these books that the readers really hate Snape. Like I was genuinely like one of the moments I like, especially even the first few times that I read, I believe it was the Prisoner of Azkaban, was when um this is in the book, after Buckbeak attacks Draco and he has his arm in a sling and they go to potions class, uh, you know, Snape makes Harry and Ron cut up all of his roots and you make his potion, and then Ron, you know, so mad he just angrily chops up all of Malfoy's stuff into horribly misshapen parts, and then Snape makes Ron switch roots with Draco, and it's just like, oh god, like Snape is just being so mean to Ron, and it's really those moments that make me just really hate Snape. And that's how it should be. That is how it should be. I am so, so impressed with uh with with this this writing, and then in continuing into we see these trailers, that Snape is actually going to be a character who we hate. I do not want to open up uh the first episode, begin watching, see Snape, and immediately think like, oh, you know, he's he's Lily's long lost lover, and he's actually trying to protect Harry. Like, that is later. That is later. And that's one of the downsides of knowing literally everything about everything coming into this is that there's no surprises. That was one of the big things with Alan Rickman, is that his performance lended itself to a fantastic surprise. Of course, the fame. Story that he asked the author about you know what the fate of his character was, and that changed his his performance, which is such a good choice by him, such a good performance uh by by by Mr. Mr. Rickman. But that's kind of one of the things that we're coming in with, The Curse of Knowledge. We know what it's gonna be like, we know where he is going, and that's the kind of thing that takes away, fight to say takes away from a performance, because you know, where where is there for the for the character to go? From where we're sitting right now, this our our characters are fully formed, their arcs are complete, and they are, you know, static essentially at this point. So what I'm looking forward to is really cracking open that can of worms again and becoming uh you know, entering the world of dynamic characters again. This is some good English class words right there. So Snape is definitely one of those those dynamic characters. I thought I mean I I would honestly make an argument that he's maybe one of the most dynamic characters. That's actually that's opening up a long-lost memory in my brain. Did we make a dynamic and static characters episode? I swear we did like three years ago. Anyway, um that's clearly that's a theme that we have been discussing, and now we have the opportunity to really see how how it comes across in practice. So, Snape, I am I mean everything to do with Snape is just making me so excited to see him on screen. I just can't wait. And now I want to quickly mention Dumbledore, because we finally have more than just him holding a tuning fork and a fedora, which, by the way, it's awesome. Like that that shot of him turning around with the Fedora holding a tuning fork, that's like exactly who who who I want to be. He looks really cool. But we finally had a line, we finally had a line of him. Um uh like oh gosh, I'm now forgetting it. Something about like, and now let's begin our year at Hogwarts, or welcome to your first year at Hogwarts. I think that that was it. And my first impression was it's Winston Churchill. I'm not ashamed of it. I watched the crown, and that's all I can see is uh Winston Churchill. But I will say it isn't I I am kind of reading into that because when I look at him, I do think, oh, that's clearly Dumbledore. Like they they they got the look down really well. But when especially when he spoke, uh I definitely heard a bit of uh a bit of Winston in there, which I is really funny, because of course John John Lithkoe is a uh American actor and he has an American accent, and it was really funny um to well, I watched The Crown and I didn't know who he was, so I assumed he was British, but then I when I found out he was American, I was surprised because he did a really good accent and he came across as a grumpy old Brit. It was it was it was perfect. So it is funny to hear that he, you know, he does have an accent that he uses and it definitely sounds like Winston Churchill. But all that aside, that's not a bad thing necessarily. I think a bit of a bit of Winston, uh, that is to say, a bit of Gambin, I think those those two are pretty similar. I'm I'm not too mad at that, and that's actually what I want to mention here. I think there's a really good opportunity here. We've only had a few moments with him again, only a few lines, but one of the things that I noticed was that he has actually a very interesting mix of the Harris and Gambin Dumbledores. He definitely has that uh mix there, and that is something that I am really curious to see. When I see him, when I when I look at him, I think of Harris. And that is, I think it's because of the beard is a little bit more like kind of uh there's there's there's more volume, it's a little more silvery white. Um, and I think also uh his face maybe just more similar, but also the way his costume is kind of set up. Um I'm noticing the the color of the robes kind of like he's more of a it's it's like Michael Gambin is more of like a material kind of character, if that makes any sense. I don't know. Does that even make sense? Like, do you do you know what I'm saying here? Michael Gambin has, you know, his his beard is much more practical and cinched, you know, he he he does have a cap, um, and you know, his robes are kind of smaller, but Harris's robes are kind of flow a bit more, his beard is not tied, it kind of flows down, he's much more kind of wavy and fluid. That's kind of the impression that I get of the Lithgo Dumbledore. And that is uh I am actually very curious to see how that progresses. But when he made his when he said his line, you know, welcome to your first year at Hogwarts, I heard Gambin so much more than Harris. Uh and I think that is definitely harking back to the Gambin vs. Harris debate of, you know, who was the better Dumbledore. And I think the bottom line is he just can't choose. Gambin was the perfect choice for the uh latter books, and Harris was the perfect choice for the beginning books. Because of course the the the the Harris Dumbledore he was much more kind of calm, his voice was softer, and he just he just had that that way about him. But as we get into Gambin, you know, he's a little darker, he's a little more practical, he's a little more kind of intense, and that's really where we get to uh see Dumbledore in action. And truth be told, I think Harris would not have performed the the same way Gambin would have, and I think I would have preferred Gambin's performance because it's all about the intensity we're learning, and this is kind of a good, you know, parallel to the story of Harry growing up. You know, he's learning these things about these people, he's realizing that it just is not what he thought it was. And Gambin is a good representation of that, and I think Lithgo has a very good uh uh you know portrayal of that side of Dumbledore that I think he will show us that Dumbledore can be this kind of soft, welcome to Hogwarts, you know, very, very, you know, comforting figure, but he can also, you know, break into this cave and drink the potion and you know create a firestorm to hold off the Inferni. That's always what I think of Harris uh just never doing. So Dumbledore is another interesting character that I am very much looking forward to seeing his translation onto the screen. Uh there are a few more things that I want to discuss in this episode, so let's move
The trio had some screen time as well
Oscaron. Next, I want to talk about the trio a little bit, and uh, this is our second to last little point here. So we got a little bit more of the trio here, and I honestly, there are a few things that I was glad to see, and there are a few things that I was not glad to see at all. So here is what I mean by that. I'm gonna start with Hermione. So we saw Hermione on the train sitting down with some people. She said, Oh, did you like the summer reading? And they said, There was summer reading, and sure smile kind of falters. So Hermione is clearly being set up to kind of be the outcast, and that's how it is, you know. That's that's how she began her journey. I think it's it's easy to forget that Hermione started out as knowing no one, and you know, she was kind of you know on the outs of the castle. So that's how she's beginning, and that that comes across, that that definitely does. But we see her also being a really good, uh being very good at studying magic. I think the two examples are at the very end when she pulls up the example of the Philosopher's Stone, so she is the one who finds that, but there's there's also a moment where she casts a spell and she's very focused, and she does a kind of a complicated gesture, and um the rug in the Gryffinder Common Room comes to life. So she's clearly knows what she's doing. But I think she's being set up in in the right way. So I'm looking forward to to seeing how that progresses. Now, I also want to talk about Ron, because there were some things in this uh it was really one in particular that didn't quite make sense to me. And that was our very the first time we saw him at the trailer is he was sitting in the borough, and his family was arguing, and uh then you know they they got some like jam all over his Hogwarts letter. And what I just didn't understand is he was kind of like smiling the whole time, like he's kind of sitting there smiling, and then he said like oi when they got stuff on his on his letter, but he wasn't very like angry about that. I think one of the things that I really like about the Ruper Grint Ron is that he gets mad at his family, like he is not afraid to to you know say say mean things and really get mad at each other. That's another one of the things that stood out to me as I'm rereading the books is that the Weasleys fight. And Ron just doesn't really do that. So, like what's going on there? So that didn't quite make sense to me because Ron is supposed to be kind of the one who's you know fighting and making a scene and he's he has to fight to stay on top, because that's his that's his, you know, what he sees in the mirror of Aeroset is that he is finally, you know, the one, that he has the attention and he's done all the things and that he's this uh cool guy. But he uh doesn't really seem to be he's not all too bothered right now, and I think he should just come across as a little more bothered. So that also occurred to me. Harry, I will say I I'm liking Harry more and more. Harry's one of the things that I think I'm I'm finding it hardest to swallow to kind of accept a new version because Daniel Radcliffe Daniel Radcliffe is Harry. Like, like there's there's no other way around. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like that it's just like it's it's it it's it's harder for me to kind of accept that, but I am liking him more and more. I think his voice is really good. Is he uh gosh, he's Scottish, isn't it? Uh he he uh he is putting on an accent for this show, I believe. Um and I must say he's doing a really good job. He comes across very well, and I I I really do like Harry's performance so far. Uh so Dominic McLaughlin is doing very well. And another one of the things I want to point out that I am actually really excited about is that I see that the relationship between Harry and Ron, and I I I really like that. I really like that they have a strong relationship. That's what that's what McGonagall told Harry. You know, work hard, uh find what uh you know sparks your interest, and make solid friendships. That's what she you know told Harry to do. And I liked the scene of them in herbology pulling up a plant, and also especially they had a pillow fight in the dorm, which I thought was really funny. So uh that that was was was really nice. I really enjoyed seeing that. Um so I I'm definitely excited for that, and that is a really, really cool part of this. So the trio is looking promising. There are parts that I'm waiting to kind of see how they fall into place, but there are also parts that I think fit really well. So that I am very much looking forward to. There's one more thing I want to discuss. It is the most important part of this whole thing. I don't know how I kept it in for so long. But let's move
Potter family reunion?
Oscaron. Okay, so this is probably my favorite thing that we've seen so far. I don't know what they decided to do, why it's here now, or maybe I just didn't look close enough and it's not even ex it's not even close to what I think. But what whichever one of those is true, I am going to believe what I want to believe. Mark my words. If you watch the trailer towards the end, there is like a shot, it's like a s maybe a second long, of two characters, uh, a young man and a young woman, you know, not Hogwarts age, but you know, fairly young, who are running, they run across a bridge, they run their their wands along the rail of the bridge, and it kind of lights up. And it's just and it's this really cool moment. Okay. If that's not Lily and James, I don't know what is, because they were just I it was I like I don't even know what to say. I don't even know what to say. They were so clearly Lily and James, those those two. They are they looked about right, they looked of the right age, and uh seeing as I didn't recognize them off the bat, I mean they aren't made out to be extremely recognizable. But here's really what got me. Uh uh right around that scene, Hagrid was talking to Harry, and he said, you know, family is more than just blood. That's what Hagrid said. Okay, so family. We we have the theme of family. And then also right around that scene, uh the order, I'm not quite remembering the order, I think that happened before. Then we had this the scene of them running across the bridge. And then to top it all off, we had a shot of Harry putting his hand on the mirror of Aracet, looking up into the mirror. I mean, you don't need a degree in trailer analysis to know that something's going on here. And clearly, this is going to be big. So I am running off the assumption that we have officially seen Lily and James in the first season of this TV show. So that is really exciting that we have that right off the bat. So you could use the logic then to say that our version, our our our tea leaves version, is still on track. We're still very much on track. Because a big part of our of our tea leaves, the first few episodes was spent on Lily and James. Of course, we we began the very first episode of our tea leaves on the founders of Hogwarts, you know, beginning Hogwarts, and then we got into the people who who went, and Lily and James were among them. So clearly they are a part of this. Clearly they are a part of this, and they are going to have some say in what is going on here. So I am thrilled to see it. I am so, so, so thrilled. I think it it would be way too easy for the filmmakers to go about this and not not even consider putting in something from from the past. But I I think it would that would be ludicrous, and I think they would tend to agree. So I am so glad to see that we have confirmed evidence, well, self-confirmed evidence, that Lillian James are going to be in the TV show. And what that means for us. One, we are going to see Harry either as a child or we are going to see the Voldemort, uh, you know, the first war slash his rise to power slash their eventual demise on Halloween night 1980. So that is something that I'm very excited to see. The other thing it means is that the floodgates are open. That was really what I was thinking when when seeing this. There's no way that they are like the Lily and James storyline is the only storyline that we are going to see from the past. So that's another thing, another thing that occurred to me. We are going to get a lot out of this. And just maybe. Lily and James are just one of the many things we are going to see from the past, not from the books, not from the films, not maybe even from the written story that we are going to have the chance to experience in this TV show. This trailer is is such an exciting opportunity. I am really, really glad to see that we have uh some more evidence of things happening, that we have some more characters that I'm very excited about, and we have some questions that are still left unanswered. I think this progression has been really thrilling thus far, and I am so looking forward to uh more teasers as they come out. That is everything I have for you today. Bit of a shorter episode, uh, just uh because of course we had to stop and analyze this trailer, and of course, we are going to be picking up with our regularly scheduled Pro React programming uh tea leaves next week. If anything popped out of you this episode, questions, comments, topics, anything at all you want to reach out to, definitely reach out to me. Thepotterdiscussion at gmail.com. That is the potterdiscussion at gmail.com. And of course, if you're listening to this and you also know a friend who enjoyed the second trailer or you want to share this whole Harry Potter world with, go ahead and share the episode. I don't really mark it, I don't really do all that. No, I just sit here and talk to you, and I I I really enjoy it, at least on my end. So if if you enjoy it, it would really mean a lot to me if you would share this with someone you know who you know uh would enjoy it as well. So again, thank you all for joining me today. Have a wonderful week. Again, watch the trailer if you haven't, and remember, as always, that happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on a light. I will see you all later.
