Show Notes

Henry begins with a quick reminder from his previous podcast (Session 11) that there are several different versions of the Lord’s Prayer.

Henry then focuses on a section at the end of the 1683 book Meditations and Experiences by an early Friend, William Shewen (1631-1695). The section is entitled “A Few Words Added to the Sensible Reader”. For his text, Henry uses an 1826 reprint (copied from an 1769 edition of the original 1683 work). As he reads, he occasionally tries to modernize somewhat the more than 300 year-old English to help better illuminate the meaning of 1683 English.

He uses the text to help develop the essentiality of the process of learning to genuinely listen and wait for the Lord’s voice. This listening and waiting (discernment) only comes as the result of true repentance  one’s (a total transformation of one’s heart and mindset) so we can more truly apprehend who God truly is. When one, because of true repentance, finds and tastes that state of relationship through the Spirit of Christ, it bears the fruit in the individual of living in “perfect peace”.

Note: Because of some issues in the original recording,  the conclusion of the session feels a little abrupt when it ends.
