Ohio Yearly Meeting's Podcast
So, if thee is interested in learning the differences between Conservative Quakers and other Quakers, or would like to understand differences between Quakers and other Christians, thee may well be at the right place. On the other hand, the Conservative Quaker perspective is so strikingly unique in contemporary society, that it will be a balm to many seeking spiritual fulfillment. To assist these seekers is the true intent of publishing our podcast.
A good many of the podcast installments will be presented by Henry Jason. Henry is knowledgeable in the Greek of the New Testament and has a fascinating way of tying the meaning of the original words with the writings of early Friends. Listening to him provides a refreshing view of scripture and is an excellent way to learn about original Quaker theology. Henry's podcasts are usually bible classes and so they are often interspersed with discussions, questions and insightful comments by his students.
The music in our podcasts is from Paulette Meier's CDs: Timeless Quaker Wisdom in Plainsong and Wellsprings of Life available at paulettemeier.com.

Fundamental Beliefs of Conservative Friends #1 Introduction and Goals
This is the first episode of a series entitled “Fundamental Beliefs of Conservative Friends: What We are Conserving”. The program will be devoted to presenting various traditional Quaker teachings, principles and understandings. The series is geared primarily for Conservative Friends but is open to all others who have an interest or are curious about our beliefs. One spiritual topic (and possibly more) will be presented by Henry Jason in each session. This will then be followed by a discussion and time for questions and answers.
In this episode Henry introduces himself and describes the goals of the series. He lists the books that are the source materials and explains why these books (rather than some other Quaker Classics) are used. He briefly presents some of the topics and words that will be the subject of discussion in later episodes. These are…
- Repentance
- Redemption
- Regeneration
- Ego/Self
- Mortification
- Spiritual Baptism
- Fear of the Lord
- Inward/Outward Aspects of Reality
- The Lord’s Prayer.
Also, included will be concepts, beliefs and doctrines that Friends have traditionally rejected. Examples:
- The Trinity
- Original sin
- Water Baptism
Henry gives a brief examination of the schisms in Quakerism. This short review concludes with a quote from Edward hicks.
A discussion ensues with Henry and some participants regarding the environment of early Christianity.
