Conservative Friends Bible Study of Mark #13 Chapter 08 Verse 34 - 38, Chapter 09 Verse 1

Henry Jason

This session returns to and focuses on Mark 8:34 to Mark 8:38.  The meanings of the words follow, deny, self and awe are examined.   Some historical context concerning physical crucifixions are presented, followed by a discussion of “taking up the inward cross”.  There is also discussion on the creation of Adam, the garden of Eden and on sin. An important point is made, however, that Friends have not accepted the later dogma of "original sin".  Finally, another discussion ensues regarding Jesus as the Second Adam as well as the Son of God.
