Show Notes

Tom Gilbert is a husband, dad and music person living in Nashville, TN. Born in Kronberg, Germany to British parents, Tom grew up in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Olney, MD where he uncovered a deep fascination with music and guitar. This led to the formation of many bands, a move to Tennessee, years of touring in a 15-passenger van, and a career in music marketing. After a two-year stint in Oakland, CA, Tom now resides in the Inglewood neighborhood of Nashville with his wife and daughter, and works as the Marketing Communications Director for music gear brand Positive Grid.

Tom and I get into:

  • How Tom’s dad and older sister influenced how he got into music
  • His journey through undergrad and choosing writing, recording, and performing over school
  • His run in with an old high school teacher which shifted his aims
  • Working at the Nashville symphony hall
  • His time playing in parachute musical, divider, farkus, and other projects
  • How he proposed to his wife
  • And much, much more!

Little Vista
Named after the street that Tom lived on in Olney, where his mom still lives. Tom plays all the instruments. (He co-wrote that song... with himself).
