When Portuguese realtor Edite Simoes became a mother at 40, she and her husband fell in love instantly with their beautiful baby daughter. Family life was natural and full of joy.
Four years later though, their happy world turned upside down in a single instant when a tragic accident left their four year old daughter in a coma due to cardiac arrest and a severe brain injury. She spent nearly a year in the hospital recovering (including a brain surgery).
Sleeping in a chair next to her daughter's hospital bed, Edite devoted herself wholly for months on end to helping her little daughter re-learn how to swallow, eat, talk, walk, believe in her own ability to heal and much more. Edite put her career fully on hold and focused on what mattered most.
