Jo Hands has the brilliant Shawn Callahan in the hot seat this week, and it's time to share stories. Shawn started as a geographer and archaeologist before working in IT with the likes of Oracle, Sybase and IBM. His story-work began in 1999 while at IBM, at the Cynefin Centre, when applying complexity theory to business issues. This is where Shawn discovered the power of small stories, anecdotes, rather than Hollywood inspired story methods.
In 2004 he founded Anecdote, with one clear aim in mind – to use story-work to bring humanity back to organisations.
In the years of pioneering international consulting since then, through Anecdote Shawn has taught leaders and sellers how to be compelling storytellers and collected powerful organisational stories that prompt employees to work out for themselves what needs to change. It is an approach that continues to break new ground.
Anecdote is now in the privileged position of being one of the most experienced and highly regarded story-based communications agency in the world. We operate in 22 countries and 11 languages.

Jo Hands has the insightful Michelle Gibbings in the hot seat this week, talking all about taking ownership and what it means to be a leader. Michelle is on a mission to bring a little joy back into the workplace, after all, she is the expert. Speaking internationally about better ways to lead, she is in high demand as an innovative keynote speaker, advisor and executive mentor of choice, with her best-selling books a must-have for employees and managers alike.
The key to her success is working with people through three lenses; as an individual, a leader, and in their wider role (and influence) within their organisation. Tapping into each of these facets, she brings self-awareness to the forefront, empowering people to work with those around them in a way that is productive, healthy and happy. It’s not rocket science - when you are at your best it inspires others to do the same and harnessed together this translates to profitable and beneficial outcomes for all.

James Ciuffetelli has the inspiring Conor O'Malley in the hot seat, or perhaps as he's better known, 'The CEO’s Caddy'. Conor is an executive coach who partners with leaders who want to develop the way they learn. Working closely with those who are curious, Conor holds a space in which leaders can get to know themselves a little better, finding their rhythm and flow so they can perform and deliver when it really matters.
When it comes to accolades, it's hard to know where to begin. A talented writer, Conor's book “Trust – Begins and ends with self” is the Amazon best-selling book in its category. He's also an Accredited Ontological Practitioner and a Professionally Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.
Prior to becoming a coach, Conor's career saw him lead as a supply chain executive for over 20 years across retail, FMCG, wholesale and 3rd party logistics. Earning his stripes first hand and climbing through the ranks to sought after positions, Conor now uses his knowledge and skills to further other leaders' careers; helping people to achieve their own goals.
The creator of the life, and coaching, philosophy of Observe|Choose|Act, Conor's purpose in life is “to be a beacon for others”.
