This week (3 weeks ago) Casey and Upo just catch up after a long break. We obviously had to cover the Knicks victory, the world cup, Lebron walking, and mescaline ice cream.
Perfect. Cheers. Ben a minuto. It's been, I think, since the last time we uploaded. Not since the last time we actually sat down, but the last time we uploaded was three months ago.

SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was my bad. I went with Hambozo. I went I went kind of hard that night.
SPEAKER_02It was great in the in the moment. Yeah, no, it was a it was a absolute eye.
SPEAKER_04Even after we went like off script completely for like another hour.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then I remember some of the topics that came up and I was like, I didn't even listen back to it. I was just like, delete. Nope, delete. This could never like never ever. Dark tapes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, not even the dark tape. I keep most of the dark tapes, but that one I was like, that was the UPO files. This was delete. That was in the files, bro. That was I was like, yo, that's fucking still remember me and you talking about something, and Dev was like, Yeah, I don't understand how anybody could like that type of thing. And me and you went for like 10 minutes of like trying to justify one type of thing.
SPEAKER_04I was like, oh, this is and then and then immediately we watched After Sunset. That was like the wildest. Yes. We watched the most rom-com movie. Oh, I forgot about that. Not even a comedy, but we watched the most romantic film possible after the film.
SPEAKER_02I needed something low low energy. Yeah. Because there was a couple points where you were this way was going crazy on the verge of fucking popping out, and I was like, I need something low energy right now because if we if we play something high intensity high intensity, then then we're gonna be up until fucking 6 a.m. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Fair enough. Good call. Good call. But yeah, man, what's been up with you?
SPEAKER_02Uh not shit, really. I mean, I'm trying to think. Last weekend was the first weekend in since I can remember that I did absolutely nothing. That was a nice change.
SPEAKER_04When you say nothing, what did you do? Just hung out of the crib, hung out, watch movies, just like yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I woke up on Saturday and I was a fucking degenerate. I woke up on Saturday, I was a little hung over because even what time? Well, I woke up at like I mean you're like okay. I got out of bed at eight. I probably woke up at like seven, got out of bed at eight. I was like, oh, let me go get some breakfast. I'm up, you know. Got some uh Waffle House. What's your what's your go-to there? Uh blueberry waffles and a side of bacon. Alright, fair enough. Pretty good. Um came back. I saw the entirety of the last season of The Bear was this is four, right?
SPEAKER_04Because five just came out. Or five's the new one. Yeah, the new one. Oh, yeah. People were saying it's incredible. Yeah. They're saying it's a great one.
SPEAKER_02I was like, I'll watch an episode before I like shower and get ready for the day. Locked in. I locked, it wasn't until like two o'clock in the afternoon that I actually like went and got it, like took a shower and like I was like, this is incredible.
SPEAKER_04Like it is, it is man. I don't I don't know if you it's like to people who don't get it, I don't know that you could properly explain the appeal of going into a weekend knowing you have no plans. That shit is that shit is glorious.
SPEAKER_02What happens is Friday afternoon I hit the chat generally at like one o'clock ish. And generally there's somebody who's trying to do something. Martinez is out and about usually so between one and I one till I get a response. I'm a little on edge because I don't know what I'm doing after I get off of work. Okay. But if I get off of work and there's no response to anything, then I'm in that like, oh, we're not doing nothing. Yeah, I'm going home. Um you missed your shot. Getting a six pack and I'm just chilling. Yeah. And I think Saturday came around too. I think uh you said you had a little uh sore throat pause. Uh so like I was like, Casey's not worth the risk. Not worth the risk. Well, I'm not doing yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not gonna hang out. It wasn't worth it. Um and then like nobody else said anything, so I was like, okay, so this will this is I'm a free man. Yeah, this is great. Nobody was home either. I was there by myself. Yeah and I just was a complete piece of garbage and didn't do anything productive.
SPEAKER_04But I mean, complete piece of garbage, probably exaggerating. Like I said, I mean, just you know, what all of man's problems stem from his inability to sit in a room quietly by himself.
SPEAKER_02That's true.
SPEAKER_04That's it. Yeah, I mean, that's that's all of man's problems. So it honestly, I don't consider that being a piece of shit. I just maybe being like unproductive is probably the worst I judge you for that. But like I said, I I there's certain people who are if you're an extrovert or if you're like a busybody, yeah, I get it, you probably go fucking nuts and you feel awful about yourself. But there is a really great just like I got no plans this weekend. Like it could go anywhere, it could go fucking nowhere, and I'd be good.
SPEAKER_02It just like I realize that without uh the structure that a job gives me, right? I'd have a real tough time keeping it on the rails. And I know this was a vacation for me technically, but like You took PTO? Dog, I went for that to that mountain week. Oh yeah. Degeneracy. Yeah, just like by myself in a cabin. Uh a man in a room by himself. Yes. Beers on beers on beers on the case. I'll be Frank when uh I'll be Tom. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um, yeah, dude. Like when Celeste goes away for conferences, like she's like gone from like Sunday to Thursday, yeah. Monday night making dinner.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, crack a bottle of wine. Yeah, fuck it. I'm just I'm cooking. Yeah, I'm yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_04And it's like a like I'll sit on that couch though on a TV show, start binge watching something, and it's like I'm like realizing I'm like three quarters to a bottle of wine by myself, and I'm like, alright, I gotta stop. It's Monday, like what am I doing? I did that uh when she was out. I was I binge watched uh Watchmen on HBO. Oh, I think that was right after I needed to. And uh yeah, I dude, like Monday night, just sitting on the couch after making dinner, ate, sit down, watch, put the TV on. Yeah, like two hours in, I'm like three quarters of a bottle where I'm done. I'm like, holy shit, I'm by myself. This is crazy on a Monday night. Like I can't be doing this.
SPEAKER_02Like that's insane.
SPEAKER_04The Yeah, when you're when you're dolo like that, you lose track real quick. Yeah, it's easy to put down the stuff.
SPEAKER_02The good thing is like I did do some writing, and I'll be honest, there's a reason I think a lot of writers like lean towards alcoholism and yeah, just boozing consumption, consumption. Consumption in general. Cause like the second you write something sober, you're like, that's fucking whack. Like you write you write anything, and like you have like the the back of your mind actually processing shit, and it's like, that's terrible. That's fucking corny, that's terrible. Cut it. If you have between, I don't know, four or five drinks.
SPEAKER_04When you hit that like substance flow state, yes, yes, and you can just go. Same shit, dude. If I'm here, like I I typically like to record my mixes when Celeste's gone because they've is loud as fuck, and I like to sometimes crank it a little bit because I like I like to feel what I'm mixing. Um, and I just look like to be inconsiderate. Like Celeste's more than happy. Like, I'll close the door, she'll go downstairs, and I'm sure the bass is fucking going through the fucking floor, but she generally doesn't really care. Um, sometimes she's even like let it open, like I'd like to listen to it, and I get self-conscious or whatever. But anyway, yeah, sometimes like I'll crack a couple couple IPAs and just like and then like 30 minutes into a mix, like once you hit that slow state, you're like, oh man, you start feeling everything, and it's it's a different thing, it's a different thing. You start moving, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shit starts coming together real quick. 100%. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I did something out there, but yes, me by myself is just a fucking booze hound. It's a booze.
SPEAKER_04It's just like fucking Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you also hit the you also hit the liquor too. That's that's yeah, yeah. It was it was like a a telly and yeah, I I don't know if I could whiskey in by my I I'm definitely like a beer and wine guy because I could sip. Yeah, doing doing doing liquor. I'm I'm I'm a lightweight dude. I'd be I'd it'd be an early night for me.
SPEAKER_02It essentially came down to just like and I hope we didn't talk about this before on the pod, but it's been a few months now, so I I doubt we did, but it was just like one of those things where it's like it's like the jump start. So like I'd have a beer and a whiskey after I was done doing whatever I need to do in the morning to get myself straight. Okay. And then you take the whiskey and then you kind of sip on the beer, and that'll get you going so that like I can start writing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then once I start writing, until I realize I'm like getting self-conscious about it again, like I don't go back inside for another until like I start being like self-conscious about my writing again.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02And then after like an hour or two, then I go back in for another beer, and then you can kind of coast on the beer. But the whiskey was just like a jump start, and then it was once like the the sun went down.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh you need a spark plug. The the yeah, the beer wasn't cutting it no more. That's when I'd hit the whiskey again. But and then I'd do dumb shit like watch uh the heat and town back to back and be like and text you and be like, yo, yeah, I'm sorry, but start dropping your R's and shit.
SPEAKER_04Uh fucking um I was gonna say, I think I've asked this before. Are you are you someone who is generally prone to depression?
SPEAKER_02100%. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So, I mean, how do you feel about you know just boozing in the woods by yourself? Do you feel like you do you feel like you get bouts of depression when you do that shit?
SPEAKER_02Or are you usually good at mind space like before you So let me rephrase that. I was prone to bouts of depression for years at a time, but I think a lot of that was chemical. I was off testosterone at the end of the day. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course. Like, and I didn't realize that that was what was like actually what was happening. Yeah. So since I've been back on testosterone, I'm good. Like I'm fine. You're I I have anxiety still, obviously, but it's different than good. So yeah, I don't have any worries like that. Also, even when I was like, quote, I sub-diagnose depress. I don't I've never been to a therapist, so I don't really know. But uh even when I was what I would consider depressed, um it was never like a like a yeah, like this way. I wish I wasn't alive or I wasn't like. Well, I mean I that was it. That was it. I did have that, but like I would never do it because I had you made it seem like it's no but like No, I had the thing where I was like, Yeah, I wish I I shouldn't exist. Yeah, if I could just like take me out of the timeline and but not like suicidal ideations, is what you're saying. Exactly. So like yeah, like I was like, I would I would be like, Man, I wish I could kill myself, but like my parents would be really bummed and I have friends, I would be bummed. Like, so I won't do it. But like I definitely wanted to like if if it was like me alone in a uh fucking in a society where If your parents are past, yeah, you're just yeah, all of your friends are dead.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'd be if you were the Joker, basically. Okay, okay. Damn, we're starting this one off on a light note. Oh, yeah. You went to Dallas to go see a I we did, yeah, man. I got to see my first World Cup game. Uh me and Celeste went with uh her coworkers, actually the one who got us the tickets. Whole crazy story. We got to go for free, basically. Nice. I mean, we spent like Buku Bucks out there. We tried to be smart and were like, we'll just Uber around instead of renting a car. Horrendous decision. We spent so much money in Dallas because like it's like suburban sprawl. So it's like every Uber is like $20, $30 every time we go into it.
SPEAKER_02I'm sure there's more people there than there normally is.
SPEAKER_04So thankfully, because I have Chase, I tried to use Lyft a lot more uh because I get credits from that and I get five times points. Um Uber has been on some bullshit recently, but also because all the international people are using Uber because they don't have Lyft over season. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Uber was like a non-sequitur basically. Um so I used Lyft as much as I could. So I didn't really get hit with surge pricing. I tried to use the weight and save as much as I could. Um, but we spent like we were there for what, three, four days, and we spent like at least like five hundred, three to five hundred. Fuck. Somewhere in that range. I mean, we were we were hopping everywhere we went, so it was, yeah. I mean, it it ended up costing us. Um, we we thought we were being smart. I mean, thankfully, I think it was the right decision because everywhere we went we were drinking. So it made no sense to drink and drive, especially with like all the police and everything in town, like it was crazy. So, but yeah, Dallas was uh it was hot as fuck. Um it was, you know, it's Texas in fucking June. Um but uh yeah, I mean, Dallas was sick, man. I actually kind of liked it. Um we went to like the I guess like what would be like the hipster district. It's called uh Bishop Arts. Okay. There's like a bunch of uh bars and like little restaurants, boutiques, and shit like that. And uh we went the first night we got there uh to go out and just watch a game at a bar. Um it was really sick because we got to see, you know, being in a World Cup city, you know, there's like a group of like Netherlands fans and they're from the Netherlands, British dudes over here at the bar. You got a group of Argentinians sitting at another table. So you got like all these like ethnic enclave groups kind of running around, and it was really cool to see that. Um, you know, and everyone's having a good time, everyone's vibing, you know, no issues, none like that. Everyone's fun.
SPEAKER_02Um most of the fucking soccer hooligans can't afford to actually also.
SPEAKER_04I'm pretty sure like they were like they're in you're in America, like cops shoot and kill people. Like, I'm sure that's like forget about that. I'm sure that's like the zeitgeist, so they're like, Yeah, maybe behavior stuff. Cops over there don't got guns. Trump's in office, they're deporting people if you look at them wrong. Yeah, they don't give a fuck. Uh but um I got to see like Dallas though, like uh it was Saturday night. So yeah, I mean fucking lifted pickup trucks blasting fucking corridos and ranchero, like fucking loaded up, like neon lights all throughout the cabins. Like it was, you know, and they're they're cruising real slow down the block. Um it was it was it was exactly what you'd think yeah uh Texas would be like. I mean, a lot of cowboy hats, boots like that. I mean, it was it was cool. I liked it. Oh yeah. Um as someone who's generally not like a big like not big into the cowboy aesthetic, like personally, yeah especially with like how like mainstream it's become like all these bitches wearing fucking cowboy boots and fucking shit like that. Like I'm like the That shit is corny, especially if you're not from there.
SPEAKER_02But I think the main thing for me is the cowboy boots and the the hats are like you know me how I feel about like function like uh like Western. You like Western stuff. I like I like Western stuff, but like I'm never gonna be the guy that's wearing a cowboy hat because I don't do I don't do that shit. Yeah, even like that's insane. It's whenever I see like some big fat motherfucker and I say that as a fat man.

SPEAKER_04Holy shit, my birthday. Oh my god, what a night. That was insane, dude. That guy was a fucking character. Listening to fucking like Russian fucking hip-hop in his earphone. Like, oh man, that guy was a character. Wrote it, wrote a different name on the sign-up sheet for the pool. His his actual name was completely different. Oh, was it dude? He told me so. I think the name he wrote was Jerude. Like it was because we were like we're like Jerude, like looking for like a Frenchman. Yeah, yeah. This motherfucker pops up, and he told me his name was Abe. And he's like, like honest Abe. And I was like, okay. Oh, I kind of remember. Your name's Abe. All right, yeah. And I mean, just he was a cool guy, but just like a fucking character, man. Like one of those, like, one of those dudes I'm not gonna forget anytime soon.

SPEAKER_04I was I was pretty toasty by the time when I met him and throughout his rest of the night. He's a nice guy. He offered to buy me drinks like multiple times. I was like, What's your birthday? Like, what do you want? Anytime he went to the bar, he's like, What do you want? You want a shot? You want a beer? I'm like, he bought me like one or two beers. Um, he's trying to give me shots. I was like, nah, I'm I'm already fucked. Um, but you know, and then there was the whole thing with Mirari. That did you you didn't hear about that?

SPEAKER_04So at one point in the night, uh Merari comes up and she's like, Are you guys gonna run another game? Yeah. And um, I'm like, Oh, if you want to jump in. So uh, and I introduce him because she's like, Oh, hey, blah, blah. You know, he's standing right there. And so we get into a conversation a little bit, and he's like, Oh, um, he's like, Is this your this is your girl, right? And I'm like, Oh no, I'm like, my wife's right there. I'm like, this is our this is one of our good friends, blah, blah, blah. And um, so yeah, we're just talking, having a conversation, and all of a sudden, he's been dolo the whole night. Yeah, this woman walks up and she's like, Hey, to him. She's like, Are you ready to go? And he's like, Oh, no. Like, and he like, you know, it's kind of sassy. He's like, No, I'm not ready to go. But he kind of has like a little bit of like dismissiveness, and me and Maria are like, fuck. And she's like, and she looks at me and Marari and she's like, Oh, hey, by the way, I'm his wife, like that. Oh, and me and Maria were like, Cool, like nobody was trying to encroach on your yeah, we're not trying to have a threesome with your man, bro. Like, what are you doing? Like, she came at us like we were like some sort of threat, and we were like, What the fuck is we were like, Okay, like that's cool, like we're playing pool, and yeah, and then they got into it, and me and Mariah were just like we did like the Peter Griffin into the bush, yeah, yeah, yeah. The Homer Simpson, yeah, the Homer Simpson, not Peter Griffin, the Homer Simpson into the bush. Like, we were like, Alright, we're gonna back out of this conversation real quick.

SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't think I really I I ran into him a couple times throughout the night, you know, just said something in passing, but uh that kind of killed the vibe.
SPEAKER_02I was like, Yeah, this guy's the only thing I really remember.
SPEAKER_04I mean, the Knicks winning the championship I remember the next 53-year drought, baby. On my birthday, no less.
SPEAKER_02I remember me like not having any cash for my next like pool game. Right. The quarters. The quarters, yeah. And um, I hope this I'm not talking about Abe's wife right now, but like some like hipster goddess walks up and was like No, she was she was like a blonde white woman, she was not like a hipster. And she like had like like a fucking roll of quarters in her hand. What the fuck? And she was like, You need quarters? And I was like, Yeah, but I mean I don't have any, like, I don't have a single to get it. Yeah, I don't have any cash. And he was like, she was like, take as many as you want. You're good. Here. And I was like, She was hitting on you.

SPEAKER_02Oh shit, that reminds me, I gotta book the fucking B and B. Me, Dev, and Zelaya said we're gonna get a B and B for uh for Mike's, maybe go down the day before and uh kind of make a weekend of the situation. Um Mike's wedding.
SPEAKER_04Oh, you guys can do that? Then fuck. Let me know what the details because uh me and Celeste are gonna book the hotel, but um what day are you guys doing it?
SPEAKER_02Probably going down Friday and then just a day early, it's just a day.

SPEAKER_04If you guys want, I mean, if it's just a three-year, yeah. I mean, obviously, clearly you guys could probably get a nicer one if you book a five person. If you want to include me and Celeste in that, just let us know our portion. I'm down. I'll let you know. Yeah, because we're gonna have family in town too. Yeah. Um, I know my mom's cousin Chago, he has like a decent, he has like three kids, his wife, so he's getting an Airbnb. He's not doing a hotel. And so I know he's he's generally probably gonna like splurge on something like nice with a pool and stuff like that. So I'm sure like a bunch of my family's gonna meet up with him, but like I'm gonna have family all over the area.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, we gotta Zelaya, so like the thing is I looked around like walking distance from the venue, and I was like, It's tough. There's no B and B's out there, it's tough. So, like but we have Zelaya who's just gonna who's sober, so he's gonna be able to drive. So we were like, Yeah, we can venture towards like uh Virginia Beach proper. And I'm trying to see if we can find something on the beach that has a balcony looking over because Zelaya was like, let's fucking he wants a waterfront. He didn't say that let's get a waterfront, but he was like, Let's blow it up and get something nice, nice. And I was like, hmm, okay, yeah, fuck it, let's do it. So uh I'll take a look and I need to do that because I know he's not gonna do it. Dev's in the group chat that us three made, but uh he hadn't sent anything.
SPEAKER_04I sent a couple options, but like I said, if you want to root me in Celeste, let us know. I'd be down to I'll let you know. Fucking trying to think, man. Nick's wonning the championship, man. Fantastic, yeah. Crazy. Yeah Wemby. is on a revenge tour, I'm sure, next season. That guy's gonna, he's got demon energy.

And uh and even like previously of course right of the when you wear Knicks hat. Well I mean I was wearing it for like the previous few weeks as well. Okay but like people were like you from New York and I was like no my family's from New York but uh to be honest it's a story bro like fucking 50 some years like yeah for New York of all places like it's a big market yeah you know they're not yep there was a a theory that was out there that like why New York sports aren't that great especially at the interesting okay smaller smaller level like college and shit like that. Sure. Is because they got other shit going like yeah like these places like Duke for college what the fuck does Alabama got going on other than college sports yeah Wisconsin you got nothing going on out there yeah you gotta be good at football or some shit like you're not getting like a major market you know that's also kind of why I was so stoked to see Oklahoma City win.
SPEAKER_04Um you know a lot of people were like it's Oklahoma City like it's such a fucking whack mark but I'm like dude it's Oklahoma City that's awesome yeah yeah in the middle of fucking nowhere like how cool and they're the newest franchise in the NBA I thought that was cool but you know um I think obviously they won their ring there is Shay burned a lot of goodwill with the flopping last year it got it got egregious. I'm a big like I I think flopping discourse gets a little bit overblown but Shay was like wild with one of those especially after the fact that he didn't need to do any of that to win the ring that they got yeah and so it got it got really crazy um in examination but yeah man the Knicks winning it and that's the funny thing like the Knicks New York teams are never a bandwagon thing. Like if there's two bandwagon teams in the NBA it's the Celtics and the Lakers. Those are the bandwagon teams anything outside of that is fair game.

Seven years so they have no capital left to trade like they have no draft picks to offer picking up Kessler they use the last of them. So they have seven years worth of locked up draft picks that they can't touch. So they gotta make it work with what they got um they picked up a couple players and free agents a lot of free agents came available this year they picked up a couple small pieces here and they're the thing they're trying to run with we'll see what happens um Rui Hachimura who ended last season as the best three-point shooter in the league I think he's walking I don't think he's staying that's a big loss uh at the end of the day the biggest thing is I'm looking at it and I'm like how can you guys got to make this work for Luca like I obviously like like it's crazy to me to think that like you guys pulled probably the biggest finesse in NBA trade history and you guys are still like not in a great position. I'm like fuck like uh so anyway LeBron's walking he's shopping the league right now trying to figure out where he's gonna go uh Giannis got traded he went to the heat oh Giannis to Miami Miami pretty much dumped like their entire fucking roster to make that trade so there's a whole bunch of new guys in Milwaukee uh Tyler Hero a bunch of guys been keeping up with Giannis is he still Giannis is still an incredible top five player easily he was top three I think he had an MVP case last season though I think the MVP race was really between Shay Jokic and Wemby I don't think there was really any discussion. He was like a but if if you're looking at fourth and fifth it was probably him and Jalen Brown maybe um Jalen Brown got traded in maybe arguably the worst trade since the Luca trade but because they've happened so close together it's probably going to be undermined because it's a really bad trade. They traded him for Paul George from the Sixers and a couple draft picks which is insane because Jalen Brown has I'm I don't I don't I don't understand it. That happened like yesterday other day before um Jalen Brown left the Celtics and he's now on the Sixers. Paul George goes to Boston wow terrible trade for Boston um I don't think anyone's been a fan of that trade um I'm trying to think John Morant got traded obviously they and the the sad thing is they've been trying to trade this kid for a minute because of all the off court bullshit and just the fact that he's regressed horribly as a player because of his injuries um he uh he got traded pretty much for like a bag of chips to like the uh Portland Trailblazers yeah um and they already traded back last season for uh Dame they got Dame back so I'm like you're gonna start Dame you're not gonna start Ja. Yes I mean even though Dame's a bit older um so I'm like I don't know is Ja coming off the bench you can't play them together there's no way defensively I don't know it's a really bad situation but uh yeah Ja Moran's career is looking like straight in the shitter. I don't know so yeah LeBron's still open game so that's gonna be the exciting watch is where's LeBron and he said he's open to a vet minimum. So like a reunion final final season for Steph and LeBron that would be that would be fire I'm not thinking they're winning a ring but like as a farewell season how fun would that be to watch LeBron and Steph. Because like it also a part of me also makes me sad because like we've seen it every time they play it's fucking cinema. It really is yeah it's it comes down to like a buzzer beater three or some crazy shit from half court from Steph. It's always absolute cinema to watch them play but it's one of the greatest rivalries in the NBA but um yeah I mean LeBron the LeBron's of the Warriors that would be pretty that'd be fire. So we're actually in like a residential neighborhood, so it's a house. Dope. So that was the one thing I was adamant about.

Um I don't know if you're familiar with a lot radio in New York. No, it goes 24-7. You can watch a live stream of it any day. It's literally like a yard built of like shipping containers, uh-huh and they have like one shipping container that has like a DJ booth inside it. Dope. And they have DJs from every walk of life. It's like your local so-and-so to like big name DJs who just do pop-ups there. Nice, and it's a free venue. You literally walk into it, it's like a yard in Brooklyn. Um, so he's basically trying to do like a similar setup in Virginia Beach, and was like, I want to do like a lot radio out here kind of thing, where like we just have radios, we just have like DJs going all the time.

I do I do think that that's a really cool push. I don't know that it'll ever overtake the level of consumerism and commercialism that's happened to social media. I think that wave is already gone. I mean, dude, it's full-blown panic anxiety attack. It is a miserable experience. Yeah, you go through it, and all it teaches you to do is prepare and get better and never let that happen again.
SPEAKER_02And I think to add to that, it's also like why me shooting my shot with women is also such a such a fucking like like failure and like I don't know what it is, man. Like there's something that shit is tough, dude. It's because shit just like kind of like everything else in my life kind of came easy to me.
SPEAKER_04I don't think like I don't you know what now that you bring it up, I don't think that there's anything that really lessens that blow in particular, because like it's the way that companionship has always been framed. It's always been it's always been framed as this thing of like a good woman will complete you. Or like for women too, like you need a good man, yeah. But you know, it's always been this thing of like that that no no person is wholly complete in their life, like companionship will complete your life, yeah. It will allow you to have kids or get married or combine finances and do whatever the fuck, whatever, it doesn't matter. So I I think that that's a reason that like when it comes to quote unquote failure on that level, like to actually bridge that gap and to like link your life to someone else, like rejection outward whenever you approach someone, is always like it always just hits harder in a way that like I don't think there's anything else in life that can prepare you for it unless you just do it a bunch.

Yeah, you could totally turn this into like, oh, where's the after party and blah blah blah? And me and you both realized that we were like, okay, well, you guys have a good night. Yeah. Like, because this wasn't the night we were looking for. You know, yeah, yeah. It's like, you know, I'm not trying to be like, yo, oople, I gotta get you to hook up with someone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was not the night. We're the same original visiting we had a blast that night too. That was one of the best nights out I've had ever. It was so great, dude. Just like I said, the jukebox plain Jane story is like my favorite. I was like, what the fuck? The jukebox isn't working. Dog. Plain Jane nine times a day. It was insane. Dude, oh man, what an that was so much fun. That was the best. That and then the fucking Nacho Bel Grande story. Out of control. Out of control. It was one of it was one of the funniest nights I've ever had. What a blast. I've I can't remember. Waiting for homie to get back, bro. Oh my fucking god, dude. 30 minutes outside of this motherfucker's house, waiting for him to get back from his. SPEAKER_04Like me and me and Celeste would like to do France in a way that's like maybe like two weeks, and we do like a week in Paris and like a week in wine country. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that'd be fire. Actually, see the countryside and just like yeah, also the idea.

SPEAKER_04Um, yeah, Paris and countryside. So absolutely, I mean that's our that's our plan for well, not next year. Next year is Celeste's 40th, and we have that already locked in. She wants to do a safari. She said for 40th, she wants to do African safari. She wants to die by the swipe of a lion. That's how she wants to die.
SPEAKER_02Dog, the safari thing to me is so insane that I'm like so much money.

SPEAKER_02Like no, for me, it's so insane that people want to go to Africa. That the only thing that is stop No, no, no, chill up. I actually want to go to South Africa, uh Johannesburg. I'm yeah, fuck yeah. But the fact that there's a fucking giant cat that will bite your fucking face off.

SPEAKER_02And the only thing that's stopping it is the fact that it doesn't recognize this fucking Jeep that you're in.

SPEAKER_04No, there's something romantic about uh just But you didn't get the Paris syndrome where you're like it's so gross and disgusting. You haven't heard about that? Like people who people who there's a whole like uh psychological thing about it about people who romanticize Paris and then they go there and it's like it's a city, so it's like full of trash. Oh, you know, like oh, it's so gross, like it destroys them. I was uh expecting Paris syndrome.
SPEAKER_02I was expecting to hate Paris. Yeah. And you loved it. I think the main thing is people in America go over there with their American sensibilities and think it's like fucking that people there are rude or they don't like Americans or whatever. But I'm like, I just don't think they like rude people. Yeah. So nobody that were just like act like you're in someone else's country, yeah, exactly. And you'll be fine. Zelai the whole time was like trying his best to like throw a little bit of French in. Yeah, yeah, throw a little French in. He was like doing his And it went a long way, I'm sure. And it went a long way. It was no dirtier than any American city that's yeah, go to New York. And the first time I went to Manhattan proper outside of Queens, I saw a dead pigeon in a fucking mailbox. Like, I don't I don't give a shit what you're talking about, like Paris being dirty.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's just being a big city, yeah. That's what happens.
SPEAKER_02There's that, and then uh also the people there were nice, bro. I don't know. The most rude person we ran into was in London, was a cab driver in London. But no shit. I'm uh I'm torn between like going to revisiting Paris, because I definitely want to, or Italy.
SPEAKER_04The thing with Italy is that there's so many different cities. Yeah. Like you want to do Venice, you want to do Milan, do you want to do Venice?
SPEAKER_02Rome, Rome, Rome and Venice are the two for me that I want to Yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's it's tough, man. I mean, that's the biggest thing is that you have to plan out like what cities you want to go to, like what you want to see. I mean, obviously, Venice is a big one because it's gonna vanish into the sea within our lifetime, probably.
SPEAKER_02But outside of that, it's the other thing for me is also like the good thing about the Euro trip when we took it was I had a road dog at Zelaya. Yeah, and Zelaya was still drinking, and we drank our way through three fucking cities and some of the Irish countryside. Um fair enough. I don't know unless V actually commits to something, which he probably wouldn't for a cross-country or cross-Atlantic trip. That's the only like road dog I think I have left. Well is like V, like where it's like all day. Let's fucking the first place we go, tying it off. We're tying it, we're we're going to a bar, and then we're going to the next bar, and then we're going to the next bar, and we're just fucking going through it. And that's I think that's the biggest thing for Paris for me. Was like we had one uh we had like two days there, but one day didn't really count because we were just like fucking bipping and bopping and fucking going to meet up with Oscar cousin or whatever, and that was great. Especially because he took us to a spot that we wouldn't have normally gone and blah blah blah. But uh the next day we s we probably walked, I don't know, 10-15 miles, and every mile or so me and Zelaya are like, oh, there's a bar here, let's fucking pop in there, grab a beer, you know, like and uh I don't know that there's that experience that is still like within the crew for me. Where it's like um because I I want to go somewhere and I want to be a lush. Yeah, I mean like I that's vacation. That's vacation, yeah, yeah. And I'm like, who got it? Yeah, who's who's down? Like, and yeah, I need a Danny's bitch ass. I think I think V needs to sign up for a cross-Atlantic trip.
SPEAKER_03But uh being said, anything else going on with you?
SPEAKER_04Anything you want to cap it off with? Like I said, I got my mix coming out soon through low volume radio. I'm excited about um uh Upo did buy me for my 36th birthday a copy of the book Mystic River. Uh, we're gonna be doing a little bit of an out-of-season introspective on that. Yeah, we're gonna be comparing the book versus the film, so spoilers abound. Um, but yeah, we'll be doing that in the next couple weeks, so that'll be coming. Hell yeah. Anything else you got in the books? I mean, obviously I've been listening to uh Matt Draper. He has a YouTube uh channel that he does like retrospectives of like, talks about a lot about horror and film and stuff like that. Um and he does this thing called Summerween, where like obviously like a lot of his stuff centers around horror, so like October's a big month, and like obviously the last tail end of the year, but he does like a summer ween thing, it's kind of like a buildup to it where he just kind of like uh does like something like uh bigger in anticipation of that. And so his one this year was he did a list of uh top 66 slasher films. Oh, and it was interesting because uh slasher's kind of been one of the genres of horror, as big as a horror fan of I am, that like I'm kind of lacking in. And so there's a bunch on that list that I'm gonna drop into my October run that I do 30 for 31.
SPEAKER_02I will be following because it is my favorite fucking great horror.
SPEAKER_04Um obviously we're gonna have our group uh pod introspectives that we do with the crew. Um but yeah, I'm probably gonna start delving into that soon, in addition. Um, I'm gonna be doing like some soft horror touches as we approach September, and that's kind of like the pregame up until my 31 for 31.
SPEAKER_02And if we want to do introspective yet again, we started off with true detective. So that was the beginning. Whatever fucking introspectives you want to do, even if it's pre-horror season, you let me know, and I'll fucking watch it and we'll fucking do it. But uh I I definitely want to do one on Mystic River.
SPEAKER_04I'm trying to think of anything like fun on TV that I've seen that like makes me want to do it. I mean uh I I think Knights of the Seven Kingdoms was a fun one. I just don't know what we could do for a pod. Like, do you think we could do a fun pod? Just like one recap of the season.
SPEAKER_02With Knights of a Seven Kingdom, I think we could do it because it's what 25 minute episodes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's like a seven, eight.
SPEAKER_02And we could probably season we could probably do it in like one shot.

SPEAKER_02I think not being in the pandemic anymore. Yeah, doing like a an episode by episode is probably not too real.
SPEAKER_04Unless we do it with something live and we release it every week. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've got to be releasing it like Monday after it exactly.
SPEAKER_02So, like, I don't think that's very realistic with yeah, post-pandemic schedules, but like uh I still I still do want to do the Evangelian one. Um I I I didn't I actually it it popped up on my thing again recently, and I was like, shit, I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_04I'm getting my fucking ass kicked by this semester um because it's some so much faster paced. Oh, so so it I I do want to do Evangelian. Um if you want to do a long deep dive form, let's keep that on the dais. Uh I do like that one. Um because yeah, you've only watched the you haven't watched anymore. I watched uh we were gonna break it up between one to five. There's like five episodes.
SPEAKER_02I think maybe divide by three or something like that. Like so I watched the first third of it. Okay. And then we never talked about it again. And I was like, all right.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so so then yeah, let's let's plan for that. We've got Mystic River coming up next, obviously, book versus movie. Um, and then I would say yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'll re-listen to the book and I will re-watch the movie. So you yeah. If you're down, then I'll I'll start that like tomorrow.
SPEAKER_04I mean, like I said, I just finished the book literally today and uh phenomenal read. Uh incredible. As someone who's been just like into horror, it's like Yeah, I don't know. A cleanser on the palette, yeah, yeah. To be like able to read just like a straight up novel. Yeah. That's like just a noir, and it's uh yeah, it's a it's a palette cleanser for sure.
SPEAKER_02I mean I'm glad you liked it at least because you have very different tastes in books.
SPEAKER_04Like the first like week that I was reading it, uh, my director came in as she was walking over, and I'm always the first one in the office. And so she was walking by and she was like, Oh, she was like, She's like, That's the same. I was like, Yeah, it's the same uh book as the movie, and she was like, You've seen it, right? And I was like, No. And she was like, What the fuck? Yeah, it was like you've never seen Mystic Ripper. She was like, When were you born? I was like, 1990. She was like, You've never seen Mystic Ripper. What? She's like, It's incredible, you gotta go see it. So, anyway, obviously, yeah, I gotta watch the movie and follow up.
SPEAKER_02I still remember uh what there was like a a coworker I kind of had a bit of a crush on, and she was like a big reader, and I walked into her office once and she was like mid-book, and she like put it down for a second, and I was she was like, You been reading anything? And I was like, Well, you know, I listen, but like Yeah, um, this is like pretty soon after I finished Mystic River for the first time, and I was like, Dennis Lahane, Mystic River, and she was like, Okay, I'll put it on the list, and I was like, Yeah, it's the uh She asked me a couple questions, but I was like, It's the closest I've been to to tears. Yeah. Uh on like a piece of paper. That emotional response. And then like later on in the conversation, she was like, Yeah, I mean, if it brought you to tears, I was like, no, no, no, like pause. Pause. I ain't cried.
