The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast
Maureen Kafkis is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, the Brain BS™ coach, and the host of The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast. When she learned that the average human brain has over 60,000 thoughts a day and that most of them are lies (Brain BS™) that cause needless suffering, she started to learn how to separate the fact from fiction in her mind and has never looked back. Maureen truly believes that living consciously, understanding how your brains work, and learning to feel your feelings are necessary for an empowering and fulfilling life. She brings her expertise and extensive knowledge to inspire people in the SB area and beyond to learn how to live consciously, tap into their personal power and become leaders in their community.
In a world where there is so much division and way too much focus on competition, the Brain BS™ Coach is promoting a conscious community and lifestyle built on leadership energy, collaboration, and mutual support. She is doing that because the power of the collective far exceeds anything that can be done at the individual level and it’s just way more fun! If we all consciously collaborate with one another and succeed together we can have a substantial ripple effect that will extend far beyond our local community. Listen and learn how you can add value to your own community!

246) Healing With Horses. Part 2
This week on The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I am speaking with Martha Varela who is the Executive Director of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) California Chapter. We talk about the issues women veterans face and the unique challenges that females experience in a male dominated military.
Because there are so few options geared toward women veterans, we have to celebrate when holistic programs like Better With Horses come along to help improve the emotional, mental, and physical health of their participants.
Better with Horses is a program that was piloted byThe Horse Project Santa Barbara with input from Paralyzed Veterans of America California Chapter. Martha is participating in the program and shares with us what it entails and why she thinks the program is so special and different from any other programs out there.
If you are looking to support our military, consider sponsoring a woman veteran so that she can receive the support she needs to participate in The Better With Horses program and heal from all the trauma she has experienced in the military.
You can donate through The Horse Project website or the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Please specify that you are donating to sponsor women veterans. I'll share both links below.

If you are on the fence and not totally sure that you buy into the magical energy of the horses, sign up to volunteer at The Horse Project Santa Barbara and feel it for yourself. There are many ways to get involved and we talk about all of it in this podcast episode and last week's as well.

Never has there been an opportunity like this to support our women veterans. No donation is too small because they all add up-this is what the power of community and collaboration is all about.
So please consider donating to this project or get involved by becoming a volunteer. If neither of those are an option, spread the word so we can reach more veterans and more sponsors!
