Ep 39 How to resolve conflicts in unconventional ways. Part 1 with Mark Goldman
Show Notes

We don't like it when it happens. But conflict is often unavoidable wherever there are groups of people who need to live or work together over some time. However some conflicts are more difficult to resolve than others, in which case, an experienced mediator can help. Seemingly deep disputes can be healed through unconventional methods like psychodrama and the understanding of space as it relates to connected feelings. Sounds woo hoo? Not when conventional methods have failed.

Mark Goldman has been an actor, author, storytelling expert, magician, mediator and psychodrama therapist. He's also been a meeting planner, dance instructor and a New York chef. This variety of roles has seen him work with many teams and different types of people. It's come very useful in his work as a mediator, resolving disputes and helping people avoid conflicts in the first place.

Quotes From Episode

"Let's say you have a cubicle at work versus an office and that's the place where you have this conflict with John. You shrink and you feel very small because everyone else can hear what he said about you, whether it's true or not and that doesn't feel good. So if I can see that space, then I have a sense of not only what he's saying but how that's affecting you."

" Psychodrama... is action oriented therapy with groups of people. And rather than just talking about what's going on with you, in the group we put into action. It's role playing and we use the audience to take on different roles from that person's life. Very quickly we can get to underneath the cause of the anger."
